There are some common terms that apply to all remote control cars. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with them and you can avoid making some wrong decisions when it comes time to buy.

Scale Size

Scale refers to the relationship between the size of remote control cars to an actual automobile. Scale dimensions are represented like this: 1/10th, or 1/8th. This means that the rc car is 1/10th, or 1.8th the size of a real car.

The most common sizes are: 1/24, 1/18, 1/12, 1/10, 1/8 and 1/5. The 1/24th scale being the smallest, and the 1/5th scale the largest.

Ready to Run

If you want to go from out-of-the-box to on-the-road in less than an hour, then the Ready To Run (RTR) remote control cars are the way to go. These cars come fully assembled including radio transmitter, batteries, and charger (for the electric models).

Kits

If you have time on your hands, and enjoy building models, then building remote control cars from a kit can be both fun and rewarding.

As an added bonus, you’ll save money because kits are cheaper than similar pre-assembled. Also, there is no better way to know your car inside and out then having put it together yourself. Another great benefit is that you can add "hop ups", or customization kits, and mae the car uniquely yours.

Gear Ratio

Remote control cars use gears to transfer energy from the engine or motor to the wheels. A gear ratio is the numerical ratio of a series of gears in relation to each other, based on the number of turns of the input shaft, compared to turns of the output shaft.

Gear ratios are determined by the number of teeth on each gear (and therefore the size of each gear). For instance, a gear with 36 teeth meshed with a gear with 12 teeth gives a 36/12 or 3/1 ratio. This is usually expressed as 3.00:1. Changing the gear ratio of your car affects its speed and handling.

Nitrous Oxide

When you hear the term "gas engine" the "gas" is really Nitrous oxide, a compound composed of 2 parts nitrogen and one part oxygen (36% oxygen by weight). When nitrous oxide is heated it breaks down and releases extra oxygen which increases the ability of the engine to burn fuel. Because of this increased ability, higher cylinder pressures are created, which increases the speed and thrust of remote control cars.

Channel

The refers to the frequencies that are used by the Transmitters and Receivers that are a part of all remote control cars. If you are operating your car near others, then everyone must be on a different frequency in order to avoid interference and accidentally operating one and another’s cars.

Digital Proportional Acceleration (DPA)

Small circuit boards are used to precisely measure out acceleration signals that enable remote control cars to speed up and down smoothly, like real cars, rather than in akward jumps that look fake. When you pull the trigger slowly, the car moves slowly. Pull it a bit faster and the car goes faster.

Digital Proportional Steering (DPS)

Like DPA, DPS uses circuit boards to emulate the handling and cornering of a real car. Turn slightly to the right or left, and the car steers right or left. Turn harder and the card swings wider.

While there are many more terms that you will encounter as you get deeper into your new hobby, these starter terms should get you through the process of reading the specs and helping you to pick your first car.

“Variety is the Spice of Life.” This is one of my favorite quotes, and how true it is. Is life not much better when it is filled with a “variety” of the things we like? Of course it is. It is inevitable that some things in your life will go wrong, so it is nice to have other things that you still enjoy to fall back on. Like investing, they always say, “Do not put all of your eggs in one basket.” The same goes for our personal lives. The way to be happy is to fill our lives with a “variety” of things that make us happy. If you have a variety of things that make you happy, this decreases the risk of becoming unhappy if just a few things go wrong. So, do not risk your happiness by not broadening your horizons and not finding and doing a variety of things that you enjoy. One way to fill your life with a variety of things is to get different hobbies. Hobbies can be as numerous as there are ideas. If you have an idea of something you would like to do, then go and do it.

Many people do not fill their lives with the things or www.VarietyAccess.com >hobbies that they would like to do. Since it is so obvious that variety is the spice of life, what makes people not fill their lives with a variety of the things that make them happy? There are many explanations for this. Some are financial. People cannot afford to pay for all of the things they would like to do. Many people are tied down by debts; they have put on the golden handcuffs and cannot find a way out. This obviously impedes on their pursuit of recreational things. Another reason for people to not pursue personal hobbies or interests is a time constraint. People are so busy working or have other things to do that they just do not have time to pursue recreational activities.

I have found, however, that if you just prioritize your time and money better, you should in the long term be able to pursue successfully, any interest or www.VarietyAccess.com >hobby you have. In fact, by pursuing personal interests outside of work, you can increase your effectiveness in the work place. Everyone needs a recreational break from working all the time. It improves morale and makes employees work more efficiently.

Like I said, there are as many hobbies as there are ideas. There is not limit to what you can do if you just go after it. Hobbies by definition are recreational or leisure activities outside of one’s career or workplace. You can have hobbies that require exercise and can not just be something you enjoy, but they can keep you in shape as well, such as playing sports, mountain biking, lifting weights or working out. You can have hobbies that stimulate the mind, such as arts and crafts, chess or other board-games, reading clubs, crosswords, or other things. You can also have hobbies just to get away from things and take your mind off the world, such as playing the guitar or other musical instruments.

Do not let money or time hold you back. Variety is the spice of life, and it is time to spice up your life a bit. Just sit down and think of anything you would like to do, anything you would like to pursue. Write it down. Write down how you can do it and what it will take, and then go after it. I have found that just half-an-hour a day of doing something can really make a difference. It might take some time to develop some new hobbies, but it will be worth it in the end. Find some new hobbies at Variety Access, your www.VarietyAccess.com >online hobby store and more.

A comic book price guide is a great tool for determining what your comic books are estimated to be worth in the market today. The going worth of individual comic books can range all over the board. Some issues have been known to carry a value of six figures, while other issues aren’t even worth the price you paid for them. A comic book price guide can go a long way in helping you determine this kind of information.

Action Comics #1 (the introduction of Superman) in mint condition has been quoted at being worth $650,000. A pretty tidy piece of change. Then Weird Science, issue #13, in near mint condition can command a respectable price tag of $5,750. There are also multitudes of back issues purchased at a newsstand price of around 5 bucks, that are now worth even less than that.

The ability to determine the actual value of individual collections is not an easy task or one to be taken lightly. Comic book pricing is a highly perceived value and will vary quite greatly, depending on which opinion and which comic book price guide you choose to follow. By all means, if there is a reputable comic book dealer in your local area that you are comfortable dealing with, get his or her opinion. But in all my research so far, it seems that "The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide" is the bible of most active comic book collectors.

I have my copy in electronic format, reachable from my desktop. It is very handy. If you truly want to understand what your magazines are worth, the first thing you need to do is to determine the physical condition of each comic book. Is it raggedy ass poor with pages missing and in need of a paper clip to hold it together? Or has it never been opened since being purchased and appears to be in mint condition? Even brand new comic books may not make the grade of mint or perfect condition.

The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide gives a very detailed description of all the grades and sub-grades used in the 0.5 to 10.0 scale. This grading system is generally accepted by all comic book aficionados. If you follow Overstreet’s physical condition explanations and grading scale, you will get a pretty good feel for the conditions of your own collection.

The next step in your comic book pricing exercise is to then go through the myriad of pages in the comic book price guide to find your particular issues. Along with your now determined physical and grade conditions, you can find your issue’s current assumed value.

The comic book price guide also has tips on collecting, preserving and storing your comic books. And it defines the various ages (Golden Age, Silver Age, etc.) that comic book history has moved through.

I guess if I had to mention a drawback to this guide, it would be the fact that there is soo much information to go through, it could take you quit a while to devour the whole book. Once you get well acquainted and comfortable with the comic book price guide though, you could consider yourself an expert in your own right and help your friends out with their collecting and comic book pricing questions.

I do believe this guide to be an invaluable and inexpensive resource to have and I don’t think you will be disappointed with it. Heritage Comics seems to be the top dog for delivering an electronic version of a comic book price guide. You can visit Heritage at http://www.comic-book-collection-made-easy.com/CBPG to learn more about the guide.

While you are there, you may want to surf around Heritage’s site. There are some very interesting subjects there. They also have on of the biggest on line comic book auctions on the Net. If you have never seen Heritage Comics’ site before and you really enjoy it, just remember where you heard about it at (ha, ha).

Of course if you would rather have a hard copy of the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, I am sure your local comic book store would have a copy and I hope this little review has helped you with your pricing questions.

If you are serious at all about the monetary worth of your comic book collection, then a comic book price guide is a valuable tool to have. There are several available and even a few for free. But if you want some of the most relevant and up to date data, then the "Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide" has developed a superior reputation over the past 30 years.

Internet

When Windows fails to boot it is normally caused by you installing a program or device and it has caused a conflict with one or more other programs.

This will no doubt give you plenty of heartaches if you’re not certain which program caused Windows to not boot up.

If you recently installed a program or application and know where it was installed, you may be in much better shape as for as correcting the error.

Here are common ways to correct the problem of your computer not completely booting up or not booting up at all.

If your computer will not boot-up at all, hopefully you have made a good emergency boot disk. You can always make a windows startup disk by creating one from another computer running Windows 98 or Me.Perform the following if your computer won’t Boot-Up At All.

FIRST……Put your boot floppy disk in the floppy drive and turn on the PC.On some computers, you may have to access the bios and select the Boot priority to your A: drive.

Save any changes and select "Start Computer without CDROM support" and press Enter.Once you are at the A prompt, type dir c: and press enter.

If your programs and other files are present, try restoring your system Registry by following the steps below. This may repair Windows, the Config. Sys and autoexec.bat files to where the PC may boot up normally. When the files are present, its a good indication of a good hard drive.

SECOND……To correct the problem of your computer not booting up,type in "fdisk /mbr" and press Enter to restore your master boot record.Type "Scandisk C:" to check the hard drive for errors that have occurred. You can also type "Sys C:" to hopefully restore files needed to boot up your computer.

THIRD……If the above procedures fail to repair your computer, you can repeat the first part of step one above and select "Start Computer With CDROM Support" re-install Windows.

Making A Windows XP Bootable Floppy

Windows XP users should create a boot disk now by placing a formatted blank diskette in the A: drive, open Windows Explorer to the C:,select Tools,Folder Options ,show Hidden files and and folders, then View Tab.

Now you uncheck "Hide Protected Operating System Files (recommended). You will see a warning and click Yes and click OK.Copy the files ntldr,ntdetect.com and boot.ini onto the disk.Remove the disk and label it the Windows XP Boot Disk.

After making your boot disk, recheck "Hide protected operating system files and folders (recommended)" in the Folder Options dialog box.

To use the disk when Windows XP won’t boot, place the disk in the drive, and then re-boot,the computer, Windows simply bypass the basic boot files on the hard drive and continue to boot up.

If The PC Won’t Boot Pass Windows

FIRST……If your Operating System is Windows Millennium, turn on the computer and immediately press and hold down the CTRL key.Once the startup options appear, release the CTRL key. Select Safe Mode and press Enter. You are now in Windows limited version. If you know what caused your computer not to boot, you can now either change or delete that program.

SECOND….Repair your Registry by selecting Start,Run and typing "scanregw /fix" and press enter. This will fix any damage done to the Registry. You can also restore your registry which replaces your current registry with an earlier copy that was backed up by your computer.Click on Start,Run and type "scanregw /restore and press Enter.

To repair your Windows 98 Registry, hold down the CTRL key as you start the PC and select "Command Prompt Only".Type "scanreg /fix" and press Enter and "scanreg/restore" to restore a previousely saved copy of the Registry.

If you have Windows XP,press F8 after rebooting the PC should Windows freeze while booting up. You can select "Last Known Good Configuration" after rebooting to allow the computer to boot the last backed up files. And you can choose "Safe Mode" to remove any files you know caused the operating system to hang up.

Be prepared when your operating system fail. It would be a great idea to go over this article a few times and print it.Make yourself s notebook and place this and all related articles there.

If your computer fails to boot or begins to become unstable, you can refer to these articles to make corrections that are needed.Learn these steps from your television set with the PC Super Pack at http://www.ultimatepcrepair.com

Be sure to note any changes you make to your Registry and if you’re not sure, its best to find a friend that’s pc savvy first.Above all,be certain you back up your registry before making any changes and know how to restore as well.

Roses are a sign of love and friendship and by giving someone a rose you are telling them how truly special they are. There are a number of colors of roses available and each one represents a different meaning to the receiver. If you are looking to purchase roses for that special someone, but aren’t quite sure which color would best suit your relationship, keep reading to find out what each color represents.

Red – Red roses are a sign of love, beauty, courage and respect. This color represents romantic, sincere and passionate love. If you want to show your loved one that they are the love of your life, red roses are the ones to choose. Giving a single red rose to someone is a simple way to say “I love you”.

White – White roses are a sign of purity, innocence, silence and youthfulness. They are given to individuals who are shy about love and are used to tell the person how special they are. White roses can also be used in weddings as an indication of new love which is just beginning.

Pink – Pink roses are a sign of appreciation and are often given as a thank you. Pink flowers also represent happiness and admiration and are given to someone you love whether it be a significant other or a best friend.

Yellow – Yellow roses are a sign of friendship, happiness, joy and promise. Yellow roses are often given to show happiness for loved ones who are returning from a long trip or leave of absence.

Orange – Orange roses signify desire and enthusiasm. They can be given at a graduation or a commencement to celebrate the ending and beginning of two different phases in life.

Lavender/Purple – Lavender or purple roses are a sign of love at first sight. If you just meet someone and have fallen head over heals for them, show them how you feel by giving them lavender roses.

Regardless of the color of roses, they represent love and friendship among many other wonderful things. Roses can be planted in your garden or kept in vases throughout your home. If you are growing roses in your garden follow this gardening tip to ensure you receive the best results possible:

Pruning Your Roses – Using pruning shears, trim your roses around the edges and remove any dead leaves from the plant. Cut out any dead wood, twigs or stems which are cross-growing over one another. Pruning should be done twice a year (once in the spring and once in the fall) to ensure your roses are kept in top condition.

Where you decide to plant your roses and the kind you choose will affect the overall appearance of your garden. Roses are quite possibly the most popular flower to show love and happiness and anyone who receives a rose for any reason should consider themselves a very lucky person.

It’s should be an easy, feel-good experience to order flowers. Here are some simple tips to ensure that you are satisfied with the results.

There are several pieces of information that you need to communicate to your local florist. A good florist knows these pieces of information and will ask the right questions. If you do not have a good local florist, you may need to take matters into your own hands and order flowers online. Either way, if at any point during the ordering process you don’t feel you’re getting through, don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. If you still don’t feel comfortable, politely cancel the order and try again elsewhere.

What date do you want the flowers delivered? Many florists offer same day delivery and some even offer timed delivery. If the timing is important to you, understand that you may have to pay for a special service. A good florist will meet your needs and charge you accordingly.

To whom and where are the flowers to be delivered?Do your part and have the recipient’s name, address and phone number ready.

What is the occasion and what do you want the flowers to say? Here’s where you may need to interject the details. If it’s a Congratulations for a new baby, there’s a big difference in what you’d likely say to a business associate upon the birth of her baby than for your beautiful wife on the occasion of bringing your precious little girl into the world. If you would say different things to the people, then you’d send different flowers. When the clerk asks what the occasion is, give the details he or she will need to help you choose the right flowers. For instance, for the associate, you might end up sending a pretty basket of pink and white flowers with a balloon attached. For your wife and new baby girl, you might end up sending 12 light pink sweetheart roses arranged with baby’s breath in a silver mint julep cup. Big difference

What is the budget?Unfortunately, many florists will ask this question before any of the others, it sounds like "how much do you want to spend?". You’re not a professional florist; you don’t know how much it will cost to say exactly what you want to say. Still, there is probably a budget you have in mind, so answer this question with another question like "the flowers are for my dearest Uncle’s funeral. I want a special tribute that includes his love of rose gardening. Can you give me some suggestions and tell me how much they would cost?".

This is where ordering online appeals to many customers. If your local florist has become so accustomed to the "how much do you want to spend?" manner of sales that you cannot have a meaningful conversation about the options they can provide, it’s time for you to do some shopping online. Find a site where you can see photos and prices and take your time choosing the product that is right for you. Be sure to pay attention to order processing and delivery fees.

How will you be paying for the flowers?Very few florists still have house accounts, and if you are ordering online, a house account is out of the question. Be prepared to pay by credit card or to go to the store to pay in cash.

Armed with a little knowledge and some confidence, you can order flowers that say just the right thing. Take a minute to be prepared before you pick up the phone and once you have, gently and firmly insist upon good service. If you take the time to be clear about your expectations, you won’t be disappointed.

Are you a compulsive furniture rearranger? Do you make distinctive vignettes with accessories? Been complimented on your beautiful home? Give friends and family decorating suggestions even if they didn’t ask for your help?

Have you ever wondered if you could make your decorating passion into a business? There is a fast growing area of interior decorating called interior redesign or one-day decorating. Varieties of this type of decorating include real estates decorating and home staging. This niche in the decorating world focuses on using what the homeowner already owns but making it better. This unique field is growing in popularity thanks in a large part to HGTV.

I own a wonderful business specializing in doing what I love to do – redecorating. Many people over the years have contacted me to ask, “How can I do what you do?”: I tell the people who contact me to do three things.

1. Do your research.

The first step in any research is to increase your knowledge about the subject. The easiest way it gets knowledge is to purchase the recommended reading list or borrow them from your neighborhood library. The first book, and probably the most important, is to get a book on starting and running your own home based business. “The Complete Idiots Guides” and “For Dummies” series both have great books on home based businesses. (Don’t get the book on how to start a small business because you won’t need the employee hiring section or the store front location sections etc) These books are good at describing all the steps you need to take to make your business “real” and not a hobby. There several good decorating books that focus on this type of decorating that you will also find helpful:

Decorating for Good by Carole Talbott

Dress your House for Success by Martha Webb and Sarah Parsons Zackeim

Use What you have Decorating by Lauri Ward

Easy Decorating Makeovers edited by Vicki Ingham

2. Make an appointment with the Small Business Development Center near you.

These are government-operated programs focusing on helping small businesses get started and flourish. They will help you make a business plan and budget – very critical steps. Now the best part is that appointments are usually free. Ask them to send you a kit on how to start your business because each state may be different in where to file legal papers. The SBDC will help you with the easiest order of steps such opening a commercial bank account, where to file your business name, getting listed in the yellow pages, etc. Find the SBDC near you by going to http://www.sba.gov/sbdc . 3. Take a training program

Now the first two steps have not cost you too much but the third step will. I highly recommend that you take a hands-on professional redecorating training program. Yes, I know that they are a lot of money (can be 2 to 3 thousand for the week) but I would not even think about going into this business without a strong background in not just what makes a house looks good, but how to market this niche area, how to work with clients (like how to tell a client that the lime green carpet and moose head have to go) In your favorite search engine type in the phrase “Interior Redesign training” or “ Home Staging training” When I took the training programs I was mental and physically exhausted at the end of the week, I felt it was well worth the money. I still refer to my training manuals and network with my creative classmates. Just like any other consumer purchase, be sure to research the company and check references. (There are people who claim you can download their book and start a thriving redecorating business. I do not recommend that method)

My biggest advice is that decorating may be your passion but you need to treat it like a business to get paid for it. Once you get paid for it then, believe me, you will love to decorate even more!

You can find suitable scrapbooking storage for virtually every conceivable scrapbooking item. From large carry-all wheeled totes that store a multitude of different supplies to files, boxes and holders for the smallest eyelet or embellishment and everything in-between!

As you learn more about scrapbooking and really get "into" it as a hobby you will begin to try new techniques and so you will buy more varied supplies, these in turn, require more varied types of storage units.

Here’s a little tidbit for organizing your scrapbooking storage. It may be a simple one but it’s a very good one… don’t store your supplies by the manufacturer.

Keep all of your templates together, your papers together, your scissors together, your punches together, your pens together, your stamps together etc, etc.

This is a sensible and efficient way of using your storage space because it’s much quicker and easier for you to find what you are looking for when everything is all together in one place.

It will also save you money! How? By helping prevent you from buying duplicate items, let’s take templates as an example.

These are available in all sorts of shapes, sizes and patterns, if they’re here, there and everywhere it’s easy to loose track of what ones you have brought previously.

By keeping them all stored together you can see, at a glance, exactly what templates you already own making it much less likely that you’d buy the same one again.

Another advantage to storing things away inside your storage units is that it will also free up extra workspace… and we can all do with more of that!

Whatever type of storage solution you use - be it pen caddys, photo holders, paper/sticker savers, stamp cases, 3 ring binders, totes or even plastic baggies - make sure you keep your supplies organized.

Being organized is good – it helps keep your supplies and tools (and the house!) tidy, they will be kept safe preventing them from getting damaged – and ultimately, it allows you more time for actual scrapbooking.

Now that spyware is the single most dangerous threat to home computers connected to the internet today, getting your hands on some sort of spyware and adware protection is critical. Spyware has outpaced computer viruses in its prevalence, and in the kind of damage it can do to your system.

If you plan on using your home PC to do anything on the internet, even minor emailing or a little light surfing, this kind of protection is a must-have.

What is spyware? Spyware is basically any kind of software that gets installed on your machine without your knowing it, and tracks your actions on the internet for marketing purposes, or causes your computer to perform tasks that you didn’t request.

You can accidentally get this stuff installed on your computer, by downloading trials and demos of certain programs that have it “bundled”, like a lot of file sharing programs, (a lot, but not all of them) viewing email attachments, or even just visiting certain websites. Sometimes you get lucky and all it does is put a cookie or two on your machine and influence the types of banner ads you see (based on your web surfing habits) or give you a few pop-up ads.

Increasingly, though, companies are getting away with distributing spyware that hijacks your web browser home page, adds unsolicited desktop icons, and pollutes other parts of your web browser, like the screen you see when you hit “search”, and the page you get sent to if you misspell a web address. Instead, all you’ll see are pages of ads. There’s now a new breed of spyware that works like a Trojan Horse virus. Many log your keystrokes, passwords, logins, etc, typed in over a week or so and deliver them to the perpetrator. This is so serious that my antivirus program even catches this spyware. If you let this happen to you, you’re leaving yourself open to some serious, serious privacy violations, not to mention likely fraud or identity theft.

Probably the most serious kind of spyware of all, however, affects your email programs. Some will send out a solicitation email to every person in your address book and “sent” items folder. Some spyware just tacks an annoying advertisement onto every email you send out. And these aren’t the kinds of solicitations you would want any association with, either. This kind of stuff is the most serious of all, in my opinion. How would you like to have your boss get an email from you telling him to visit a distasteful porn site?

You can probably see by now that getting good spyware protection is more important than anything else. Viruses aren’t really a huge deal anymore, because most people have some kind of antivirus programs, and viruses just aren’t produced and distributed as much as they used to be. But the problem is, even the best antivirus software out there still doesn’t take care of spyware; it’s a different classification.

One of the main reasons spyware is so widespread is that it’s mainly all still legal. Viruses aren’t as much of a problem anymore because the people who start them almost always get tracked down, and sent to jail. But with spyware, most of what these components do isn’t really malicious. You’d have to prove some kind of harm. So you saw a few ads. The case could often be made that you initiated whatever process got it on your machine anyway.

Anyone who tries to commit fraud against you by using spyware also won’t really be doing it out in the open, so they probably won’t get caught. It makes more sense to just get some good spyware protection and keep this from happening in the first place.

Two of the better programs out there meant to deal with this are Adaware and Spysweeper. I use both, but from what I’ve seen, Spysweeper seems to detect more different pieces of spyware that get on my system.

Also, while they’re meant to complement one another, one feature Spysweeper has that Adaware doesn’t is that it watches specific components of Windows for you, like your “Startup” programs, web browser “favorites” and your browser homepage. All changes get reported to you. You decide right then and there if you want to let it happen.

Adaware has a similar system, but lets you set it to deal with, and prevent any such changes to your system, without even asking you. It’s like having your own digital bodyguard, watching your computer for you while you’re free to surf.

If you’re serious about your PC’s security and your privacy on the internet, spyware protection is not an option, it’s a must!

Do you like to take photos? Are you always standing by with your camera waiting for that moment that is meant to be captured on camera? You may even be taking photography classes or maybe you have already completed a photography course and you want to share your photos with others. You may want to get into photography as a career and winning a photography contest will help you get recognized. Maybe you are just an amateur that has a favorite photo that people keep telling you to enter.

Whatever your reasons, a photography contest can be a fun and rewarding experience for you. To find out all you need to know about entering a photography contest, read on.

How to Enter a Photography Contest

There are some excellent photography contests out there, some even offer large cash prizes, scholarships to photography schools and really nice cameras and camera supplies. Aside from the prizes, winning a contest may be your opportunity to showcase your photography skills in a national magazine. It’s easy to see why someone would want to enter a contest.

First you are going to want to choose a contest. In fact, there are so many out there you should make a list of ones you are interested in competing in. There are contests in almost every category you can think of; wildlife, underwater, boats, boat docks, people, children, self portraits, birds, tress, flowers, and much more. Some contests are not category-specific but leave you freedom to use your creativity.

Next, you will double check the dates for entries to make sure you are not wasting your time sending to one that has already reached its deadline. You will also want to check any and all requirements to the contest and make sure you qualify. You will then want to check for any fine print and be sure you agree with the terms. For example, some contests have rules about copyright and you give up copyright by submitting, others ask for print to publish – even if you don’t win, and without notifying you. If you do not agree to the terms of the contest, you should not enter. By entering, you are agreeing to the terms. There may also be entry fees required for the contests.

Tips for Better Photos

You may be amateur but if you are entering a photography contest, you are competing with the best of the best. You are going to need your photos to be excellent if you expect to win. There are different things that make up a good photo. If your photography contest is based on a topic, then that topic is going to be counted as part of the score. You will want to be original and if possible, catch a scene that has not been done before. You really want to impress the judges with something you do not normally see.

Next to consider, are your technical aspects of your photograph. You are going to want to have excellent composition, lighting, focus, contrast, exposure, perspective and more. There are many factors involved in taking the picture that will win the photography contest. You may not win every time but you should learn something about photography and how to make yours better each time you enter.
