Sorted through 6000+ fonts and organised them by genre (Similar structure to dafont.com) which is about as much fun as it sounds. Rediscovered some fonts that I simply adore but lost so just for reference: Geo Sans Light Regular is simply sexy. I like it muchly.

About 1 month ago I fell in some sort of excess drainage/pipe thing that isn’t covered and fucked up my leg (deep scratches), had two nurses (Fiona & Her maman) apply mucho Swedish Bitter liquid stuff which stings like a bitch but seemed to do the trick so now I am all ok with only a few scars to tell the tale of my horrific experience. :/

Went to the Rasa Sentosa resort with the cherie & her family which was uber pleasant, the weather was cloudy which was a godsend & allowed us to walk around without sweating too much! We visited Undersea world, luging and the skywire.

I finally received my visa to stay in China for 30days, really excited about heading to Shanghai in 5days. The current plan is to stay for 2 weeks and during that time period I will endeavor to check out as much as I can (which relates to my own interest of course Fuzhou road here I come!).

2 days ago I woke up to an allergic reaction and thus I am  currently medicated with Betnovate Cream, Cetirizine Dihtdrochlorid & Acrivastine. The rashes seem to be subsiding & hopefully will be gone with the next few days. Not amused. :/

About 3 weeks after settling into my new crib in Bishan my Laptop decided to go emo- the core of the problem was the humidity + temperature + laptop + small fan.

So the mobo went kaboom which pretty much decimated my regular updates since I was too busy sobbing in the arms of my baby to really care about the 100-200 strangers that grace my blog everyday.

Gaming

I have gone off Aion due to the single track end game (PvP is not enough-kthx) which means I was stuck in a lurch with regards to gaming- have gone to WoW for the last month simply for lack of a better game with decent endgame content.

I am Koutei on the Blackrock/US/Alliance server and I am playing a ret specced paladin, Nana is of course playing as a priest (but with shadow spec to lvl faster).

So far I am digging being a dps with some resilience- really not used to being able to take a hit but its a nice change and healing Nana while tanking + ganking is just glorious.

/struts

So thats what I have been playing for the past month although not really hardcore due to time constraints. I gotta work and Nana has to study so I think we will be perma stuck in the 20-40lvls.

Oh well, we are having fun so its all good.

Abridged point being; until Aion gets its shit together I wont be playing it.

Inky thoughts

Have gone to Aesthetic Bay twice (in Ion) so far and my wishlist is starting to be really biased towards Japanese tastes, an evolution of my prior passion for vintage Watermans perhaps.

Lets break it down;

I have roughly 300+ photographs to upload but I am crazy tired and while I know I am just grasping for exuses to not do it I am afraid I will have to add them in a few days in a separate post.

Leaving for Shanghai on the 20th Sept with Nana for some tlc & shopping in Fuzhou road.

Numero uno

The first step of my journey sees me at Gatwick airport in London, I arrived ridiculously early so I had an insane amount of time to kill- tried ninja’ing some broadband  from the airport but those selfish Nazis want you to pay for the privilege of a shitty 2mb connection with such bad coverage I  should be calling the better business bureau.

Screw  that.

So I just chilled for 2hrs talking to a Filipino (who comes from Nigeria- yeah, it made perfect sense to me too) and texting her.

After those weird and awkward 2hrs went by I queued up to check’in while freaking out about the potential for exceeding my baggage allowance.

When the scales hit 25kg I swear people 200meters away could hear me sigh in relief!

Straight after that I skipped to the waiting area and grabbed the most overpriced burger known to mankind from Garfunkels. -about 25sgd for 1 cheeseburger & a Corona.

No joke.

Then 3hrs of just staring at morbidly at obese Limey’s in Hawaiian shirts (not to forget Bermudas + flip flops of course! ), no doubt on their way to terrorize a peaceful Spanish town. Makes you glad French people are an anti-social & bitter lot otherwise my beautiful country would be overrun with those epic fuck ups.

Nana Heaven

Finally it was time to head to  the departure gate & onwards to the epic fail that is Dubai Airport-

I would go into a huge rant about the ultimate fucking failure that is that sandy shithole but I am chewing on delicious seaweed snacks & I have a bunch of new notebooks from Daiso so life is pretty damn good thus I am not going to screw my karma up by pointing out the glaring, morbidly painful truth (that Dubai airport is full of fail- specifically the customer “service” ).

Because I keep forgetting shit I will do some uber fast bullet points with key notes:

• Dubai Airport is full of fail and makes Gatwick seem like a hospitable hub of customer service by comparison.
• Changi airport is full of epic win. I heart it muchly.
• Food served by the Emirates airline is surprisingly palatable (Besides the ridiculously overcooked lamb- Arabs want to chow down on indistinct mush!?)
• I wish visa stamps had a more impressive quality to them- embossed  “YOU ARE FUCKING EPIC” in gold lettering would be agreeable.
• The two slutty ccb’s who shared the plane with moi will be reincarnated as cockroaches based on the epic amount of bullshit they talked about during the 6hrs I was within hearing distance.
• The word epic is truly epic.

Obviously this is designed to fill the void between portable powerhouse & notebook- its not light and its not heavy, not big but not small.

Appearance

The M1310 is quite simply gorgeous, brushed aluminium (I think) casing on the inside and chunky metal casing with a high quality polyplastic shell on the outside- its just smooth and understated with just enough oomph for me to be comfortable smirking at mac zealots.

The build quality is extreemly high with no flexing of the frame or the plastics and a sturdy feeling when holding it.

Its not going to crumble if you breathe heavily in its direction.

Stats & Computing power

It handles everything I have thrown at it so far with no problems, I use it primaraly as my on the move portable design lab- its geared (for me) towards hardcore multitasking and opening/modifying large files.

As I type this I have the following apps running;

1. Firefox 3 with 11 tabs open.
2. Photoshop CS4
3. MSN Messenger
4. Xfire
5. Seesmic Desktop
6. Main Type
7. Windows Media Player
8. Utorrent
9. Essential PIM
10. Microsoft Expression Web

No lag, not hang ups, no problems.

It wont run crysis (with decent framerates) but then again it is not intended for such an application- it can play mid level game adequately if one so wishes however I view it purely as a personalized “on the move” desktop replacement.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

• Great looks.
• Good balance between portability & power.
• Amazing build quality.
• Fingerprint reader makes security accessible.
• Full of gorgeous little details (integrated media remote control, shiny buttons etc.).
• Best laptop keyboard I have ever used.
• Track Pad isn’t too big (you wont hit it when you type).
• Chicks dig it.

Cons

• Came with some useless bloatware (easily fixed).
• Battery life isn’t the greatest if you use the screen to its full capacity (max out the sexy brightness!).
• I dont like the typography used for “XPS” its tacky and tries too hard to be futuristic.
• It cant make toast and your gamer girlfriend will ninja it. :/

Ok, Blog is now back online!

So many issues cropped up after upgrading & in all fairness most due to the plugins I use which have yet to be upgraded by the authors (see here!) but after disabling some of  them and deleting easy adsense[r] completely I managed to get most of the blog to work fine.

Then I went to write a post and the visual editor disappeared (most irritating) however the solution ended up being pretty box standard; tools>reinstall & then clear cache in firefox + reload and everything was fine.

OMG! My new glasses!

So pretty- I went with a clear tint as I mentioned in an earlier post & after wearing them I dont regret it.

The hi-density glass really makes a difference, my Armanis feel so light and crisp its just sexy to wear them- I focus in on objects so much faster for some reason.

So fucking happy!

Also got a pair of free prescription sunglasses because I spent above whatever limit they need to justify giving things away- not as nice as my Armanis but I like them.

Rawr!

Those dont have all the options my Armani’s do or hi-density glass which means I really can notice the difference but I cant bring myself to care.

Sunglasses are really when you are outside & not doing detailed work- I dont feel that going all out with optional extras to be really worth it.

My passport arrived- new passport photo is full of fail, I look like an emo vampire. =[

They forbid me to smile or show teeth so I look evil- just so you know I was thinking “I hate my life” when having the pic taken.

I am going to rebuild (with time) once I am in sg with an emphasis on Waterman/Nakaya/Danitrio/Sailor/Others and in the mean time I am writing exclusively with the delicious Sheaffer Imperial 444x .

Such a sexy nib! Mine happens to be in medium and it delivers just the perfect amount of feedback while laying down a silky smooth wet line.

Its like skating on dusted ice.

Fuck rationale, not everything has to make sense.

Life has been truly hectic in preparation of the big move, been thinking alot about my lack of emotions concerning my material possessions- When Joe came over last week I literally handed out half my of wardrobe (sg is crazy hot so I cant take most of my clothes) and really didnt feel much.

I think its almost peaceful- how I imagine baptism is supposed to feel like (starting anew etc.) as opposed to a guy rubbing oil on a babies head while inside a room lit by candles (fucking genius).

[I am pretty sure no one has ever caught fire while getting baptized however, should it happen- remember you heard it here first!]

Found some old bits and pieces from when I was a kid, will do an image heavy post later this week to show of my random playmobil and toy cars from my formative years.

Cant fucking wait for Aion, already decided I will play a pure DD class (Sorc) & since my baby will be a healer I think we will be able to duo through most of the game due to the stigma/addon skill system.

In Aion ,Stigma System allows players to further customize their characters, so that players of the same class are not necessarily identical in their abilities.

Sealed within each Stigma Stone is a powerful skill that makes a significant addition to your character’s aresenal. While some of these stones are readily available, others can be very rare and therefore prestigious. Stigma Stones can be equipped on your character through the Stigma panel. The number of Stigma Stones you can equip depends on the level of your character.

Until I play it I cant be sure my plan will work but I think equipping a stigma stone that allows you to wear plate or chain + Nana being a chanter (Buff class/Healer class) will allow me to effectively tank (while getting perma healed of course!) regardless of being a sorcerer.

Need to get Aiai & some other hardcore gamers involved so we have a dedicated .sg/timezone guild for farming instances.

I keep glancing at the latest spydercos prototypes from the IWA show in germany, cant say I am uber impressed by the mini sage (Chicago & Cat) series. Liner + Leaf + Carbon Scales was nice the first time, now its getting a bit tiring- at any rate they are not on my to buy list.

I have a strange attraction to the Chokwe, the first time I saw it I felt like pouting at Sal for wasting precious R&D but the more I look at it the more I want to own it.

I have similar feels towards the Terzuola Slip-it, I prefer flat ground & wire clips but I cant seem to look away.

Sal should change the Spyderco slogan to;

A few days ago my glasses broke & by broke I mean they literally BROKE- I didnt break them they just broke.

After bitching and freaking out about it with my baby I spent a few hours just holding them and thinking…which led me to a fucked up conclusion.

My specs are easily in the top 10 most consistent aspects of my life.

Everything gets replaced but my overpriced DKNY specs with everything (HI-Density glass upgrade, 5 million various added finishes and a blue tint) on them have been with me for a simply insane period of time.

What does that say about the individual?

Is it me or are all spectacle aficionados so pensive when losing such a significant object presence in one’s life?

…and so like expected I moved on;

I ordered my new specs.

Armani.

Equally over priced.

Hi-density glass.

7 million finishes.

No tints (got separate prescription sunglasses instead this time).

As I was picking the frame out I really wanted to hate it. I felt like I was cheating on my DNKY’s but after a few minutes the lingering resentment was replaced with the ambivalent realization that I really dont give a fuck, fuck my dkny’s…seriously.

Everything has an ending and it feels right to replace them now.

Who knew designers could grow up? ;]
