Bodie Window Reflection

Another shot of the ghost town of Bodie. Part of the rest of Bodie is reflected in the window of this boarded up door. You can see some of the old draperies still hanging on the inside of the window. Abandoned Rusty Car - Bodie Ghost Town

An old car rusting away in the middle of Bodie, CA. This gold mining ghost town (now a state historic park) is an interesting place to visit just north of Mono Lake and Lee Vining in central CA. Within one year (1878) this town grew from 20 to 10,000 miners, gamblers, and other entrepreneurs searching for wealth. Years later it was quickly abandoned, leaving behind a well-preserved town.

Yellow Fall Leaves with Orange Canyon Backdrop

The orange canyon walls in Zion make a fitting backdrop for the yellow fall leaves, mixed with some green for good measure. Same canyon as my previous canyoneering photos.

Red Falls - Zion National Park - Below Subway

The most beautiful waterfalls along the Left Fork, North Creek canyoneering route in Zion are the Red Falls, seen here. This is below the main "subway" section. I could have spent hours taking photos here, though we didn't since we were starting to run out of time at this point.

Fall Reflections in the Canyon - The Subway, Zion National Park

Tim & Aaron stand with the fall colors reflected in one of the many pools in Utah's canyon land. This photo was taken farther downstream from the last subway canyon photo. From here onward the canyon opens up and there are no more narrow slot canyons. The "Subway" canyon is the left fork of North Creek in Zion National Park, Utah.

This is the beginning of the spectacular "subway" section (Left Fork of North Creek) in Zion National Park, Utah, a beautiful canyoneering route which I did with some friends last weekend. The water is beautiful, and cold. See more photos from our canyoneering adventure here.

Morning in Marchissy Switzerland. The cows that give us all that good Swiss cheese are taken out to pasture early in the morning. This photo is actually a single frame from video I shot with my Canon 5D Mark II. View the Morning in Marchissy Switzerland video here. Mountaineers climbing Mont Blanc - French Alps

Look closely to see 2 groups of mountaineers climbing this glacier, one group near the bottom of the photo, and the other near the top. The climbers in the photo help give a sense of the size of the surrounding crevices and fissures. The photo is zoomed in on a small part of Mont Blanc; the hikers still have a long way to go to the top. Most likely they started from Cosmiques Refuge, the base camp near the top of the Mont Blanc cable car which I mentioned in my previous photo.
