Classed as ‘hors catégorie’ (the hardest climbs) and featured 11 times in the Tour de France, the 11 km climb is open to cyclists without the fear of cars. A free refreshment stand will be in place at the lake on the summit of the col, with a striking view over the Mont Blanc Massif.

The perfect time to come out for a road cycling holiday. You can also take advantage of the timing system to time yourself on the Col de la Joux Verte and the free booklet with suggestions for rides.

Cycling lovers can measure themselves against the time established by Bernard Hinault in the Tour de France time trial in 1979!

Technical information: 14 km of distance / 860m of altitude gain / 6% average gradiant

]]> 0 http://www.findyourflow.org/blog/2012/06/03/new-automatic-timing-system-for-roadies/ Sara http://www.flowmtb.com <![CDATA[Critérium du Dauphiné road cycling race in Morzine]]> http://www.findyourflow.org/blog/?p=1129 2012-05-18T13:35:55Z 2012-06-01T13:30:57Z Morzine is well known for its love of road cycling through being a Tour de France stage host 14 times, and is now once again welcoming the Critérium de Dauphiné: an important race where the best of the best are looking to make their mark just a few weeks before the Tour de France. This 64th edition is played out in the Alps, kingdom of the climbers. The 22 teams lining up for the departure include the 18 best teams and their leaders, amongst which are Bradley Wiggins (British hopeful and the winner in 2011), Cadel Evans (4 times 2nd place and the winner of the Tour de France 2011) and the Schleck brothers. The race promises to be a gripping watch, with the mythical cols of the Colombière and the Joux Plane to climb just before the stage finish.

Saturday 9th June: Arrival of the stage Saint-Alban-en-Leysse ? Morzine (166,5km) around 2.30pm
Sunday 10th June: Departure of the stage Morzine ? Châtel (126km) at 11.20am

In 2012 the Portes du Soleil will once again sponsor the green jersey for the winner by points.
