So i've not posted here in a while. I've been very busy making with a job change and things, but I'm still very pumped about finding good free music. I hope to make some new posts this year. If you happen to actually be reading this then let me hear from you. I suppose sometimes I'm not as motivated to post my finds because I have serious doubts that anyone is actually reading this blog. I've not listen to them much yet, but what I have listened to I have really enjoyed. They also have a couple of free Christmas songs available on noisetrade.com, which is where I first heard of this Nashville duo.

(UPDATE: In case you haven't heard by now, this group has been nominated for a Grammy this year! Their debut album is superb... this live album is OK. But definitely worth the price (an email address)!

I heard this song on a the KCRW "download of the day" earlier this year and it seems that it has been my favorite song that i have discovered from that podcast in 2010. I found this link for a free download. I don't know much about this artist other than this song rocks and I enjoy her sound.

I heard this group on "World Cafe" the other night and immediately went home and looked them up. They were playing the song "Hit Em Up Style" which is an Alicia Keys meets Old Crow Medicine Show meets beat box song! Not much like their other songs, but I'm headed skiing and even their other more traditional music is getting me in the mood to hit the mountains! Enjoy this free concert (with a live version of "Hit Em Up Style") from my new favorite website! This is a soundboard recording too which is really nice! Also note that you can just download the tracks individually or the entire concert. Let me know if you have questions.

I actually began listening to Sixpence music back in the 90's after I saw them at the Ichthus Music Festival in Wilmore, KY where they became one of my favorite groups (and still are to this day!). This song is from the album Divine Discontent was the follow-up album to their self titled release that contained the #1 hit song "Kiss Me." You may recognize this song, "Breathe Your Name," as it did get some radio airplay and still gets tons of airplay to this day in a wide variety of department stores. Anyone that wants to really get a good feel for Sixpence, however, should look online for the "Mega 3 Collection" of their music. It's super inexpensive and it contains their first three albums; "Fatherless and The Widow," "This Beautiful Mess" (my personal favorite of theirs), and "Tickets for a Prayer Wheel". Also, be on the lookout for new material from them as they are reportedly working on a new album this fall.

I'm very pumped to have found this download today! The Squirrel Nut Zippers first caught my attention in college when I heard the song "Hell" on our alternative radio station. It sounded like music from another era and when I purchased their CD "Hot" it quickly became (and remains) one of my top five albums of all time. Since then, I have added every CD from the Zippers collection. Needless to say, when they disbanded several years ago, I was disappointed. Their story is a sad one but the good news is that "they are back!" And now they are offering a free download from their upcoming "Live" CD! Enjoy!
