Yes, it is a point of no return!

Letters of credit are mainly used for large transactions between customers in one country and suppliers in another. Because of the nature of international trade, the specifics of different transactions, and factors such as national legislation, distance, and difficulty knowing all trade partners personally, letters of credit have become an important tool for carrying out commercial transactions. The main characteristics of this type of financial instrument are revocability, negotiability, sight and time drafts, and transfer and assignments.

Pricing Optimization: The Double Whammy

Pricing optimization can be used by financial institutions (FIs) to not only maximize returns by offering the optimal rates for financial products for each consumer, but can also be used to increase customer acquisition. Pricing optimization is used to help FIs find the 'sweet spot' where they can offer consumers the rates that will provide high returns and low risk for the FI, and still be attractive enough to consumers that they will not be lured away by other institutions. To correctly predict where this price point is, pricing optimization software can be used to statistically predict the terms that will best fit the price sensitivity of each consumer as well as offer optimal benefits to the FI.

Some products in the financial industry are relatively standard--they are similar across banks, consumers know what information they need to apply, and for each individual bank, applications for the same product use the same kinds of information. This is typical for fairly common products like low limit credit cards and even for highly complex products like corporate loans. Small business lending, however, does not comply with the same norms. Banks may need different information depending on the size of the business and each bank can define small businesses differently. What is it exactly that makes small business lending different than other lines?

Death is often seen by many as an escape route from the troubles that world could give to an individual. You may not subscribe to such morbid notion but if you are neck-deep in debt, it is possible that you would entertain the said idea. This is because the logic behind this is pretty simple: if you die then you would certainly not have any more trouble with your debts. In fact, it is possible that those whom you have left behind in your family would not be obligated to pay for the said debts. However, it is also possible that someone else would be left to deal with the burden.

There are many laws that are only applicable in one country, which means that anyone who is already based in another is already exempted from it. This is not the same case when it comes to debts though. If you have incurred debts in another country, you are still obligated to repay it according to the terms set by the creditor. Of course, if you fail to repay as stipulated in the terms, then you could be subjected to legal maneuvers just to compel you to abide to it. This is the reason why you should never just ignore the said debts just because you are already based somewhere else.

A merchant account is a type of bank account, which provides businesses with the possibility of getting payments, through the use of specific payment cards like debit cards or credit cards. The account can be created when an acceptor signs an agreement with a merchant acquiring bank. The bank in turn settles the card payment transactions. In other instances, a payment processor, merchant service provider or an independent sales organization may be involved in the agreement. The agreement signed by the merchant is a binding agreement, and one is expected to adhere to the rules and regulations that are set by the card association.

Merchant acquisition is a tedious process, but with the right combination of risk mitigation, account monitoring, and effective communication, a profitable and a great relationship between the merchant and acquirer can be established. Checking one's credit report is an essential part of establishing one's self as a creditworthy individual. Credit reports have so much influence on a person's life that it's surprising. So many things hinge on good credit anymore. From buying a house or an automobile to getting an unsecured loan for any of a variety of purposes, or even gaining employment in certain lines of work, a person's creditworthiness can either open doors or slam them in that person's face.

Business process management (BPM) is a system set in place to organize and manage various tasks and workflows. One specific way that it is used is to manage origination and maintenance processes for financial institutions (FIs). It allows manual and automated processes to work together while allowing end users to monitor the process as it is happening, leading to more robust decisioning processes and improvements in business logic. Overall, it is used to make origination processes for FIs as efficient and effective as possible and to 'get everyone on the same page'.

One of the most important things a person has in this country is his or her credit rating. Most people don't realize the importance of this number, but the truth is, a credit score determines a person's place in society according to governments, banks, and other organizations. What is a credit score? A credit score is a number that determines a person's eligibility for credit. Credit, of course, almost seems like the lifeblood of this country.

When a person is in his or her early twenties, it can be tough to get approved for a loan if he or she has not had much of a chance to build up the credit score. Credit cards can help young adults to begin developing a credit history and if the person makes payments to the account on time every month, he or she will be well on his or her way to establishing a solid credit history.

Making your Sears credit card payment online is perhaps one of the easiest and most convenient ways to pay off your credit card debt. It saves you from a lot of hassle and saves the time it would take you to visit your bank or the post office. Ever since Sears handed its credit cards operations over to Citigroup, online payments and their other facilities have become even faster and better.

With tax season upon us, most of us are looking forward to receiving a nice tax credit from the government. The question is, what should you do what that money? Should you spend it on that "thing" you have been wanting but possibly do not "need", save it or should you use it to pay down some of your looming debt?

If you have ever used credit cards beyond just one or two small purchases each month, then you know how difficult it can be to eliminate credit card debt. Between unexpected charges that many people choose to place on credit cards, as well as the continual interest charges each month, it can be a long process.

A documentary called "Maxed Out" prompted me to write this article. It explores this nation's incredible and slightly disturbing relationship with bad credit debt. The main focus is how banks and investors prey on those who are likely to remain in debt in order to maximize their profits. The social problem it presents is predatory lending and the role of the corporation as a social structure. On one side you have the extremely profitable businesses of consumer lending. On the other side are the debtors who are likely to remain in poverty with ever increasing credit card fees. Diffusion of responsibility in the corporate environment can make abuses appear acceptable and even desirable in our Capitalist economy.

When credit cards first came around, they were generally pretty uniform. Some varied in color, but generally were simply an emblem of the bank's name/icon along with the customer information. As time went on, credit card companies started to branch out in the designs offered in order to appeal to younger customers and to provide a friendly image. Today, it is not uncommon to find a bank that has dozens of unique options such as fish, mountains, sports fields, sporty cars, and abstract color patterns.

Credit is supposed to help people in their financial difficulties, in moments where cash is short. But what happens now is that people are drowning in debt. It is not so much because they lost their jobs or met an accident that caused their inability to pay. It is rather because they borrow money more than they can afford to pay.

While you may have partial scholarships or student loans, sometimes you have to wait on these to be distributed and in the meantime, it is important to pay tuition fees and reserve textbooks that will be needed.
