Google Drive ist ein kostenloses Angebot an Internetnutzen, den Datenspeicher von Google für private oder kommerzielle Zwecke zu nutzen. Mit Google Drive kann man nicht nur Dateien auf dem Datenspeicher von Google ablegen, man hat dort auch eine integrierte Dateigestaltungsmöglichkeit. So kann man Texte, Tabellen und Präsentationen lesen, ändern und zur Mitbenutzung freigeben. Durch Google Drive ist verteiltes Arbeiten an mehreren Rechnern und von mehreren Nutzern möglich. Beliebt ist die Nutzung von Google Drive für Textverarbeitungszwecke, denn es kann auf ein eigenes Textverarbeitungsprogramm auf dem Rechner verzichtet werden. Viele nutzen Google Drive auch zur Synchronisation von Datenbeständen auf unterschiedlichen Rechnern.

Google Drive wird über den Webbrowser genutzt. Benötigt wird lediglich ein internetfähiger Rechner. Zum Hoch- und Runterladen von Dateien braucht man eine Internetanbindung. Google Drive war früher unter dem Namen “Google Text und Tabellen” bekannt, denn ursprünglich stand die Gestaltungfunktion der Dokumente im Vordergrund. Vor kurzem ist Google aber dazu übergegangen, das Hoch- und Runterladen von beliebigen Dateien zu erlauben. Bis zu fünf Gigabyte stehen dem Nutzer kostenlos zur Verfügung. Größere Datenvolumen können preiswert nachgekauft werden. Wer Google Drive nutzen möchte, braucht ein Google-Konto, das ebenfalls kostenlos erlangt werden kann. Für die Nutzung von Google Drive muss man sich mit diesem Konto bei Google einloggen.

Die Nutzung von Google Drive ist vergleichsweise einfach. Das Google Suchformular bietet mit “Drive” einen Link auf Google Drive. Auf der linken Seite hat man dann die Möglichkeit, Dateien zu erstellen oder hochzuladen. Die Dateien werden rechts im Listenformat angezeigt. Zu jeder Datei gibt es Informationen zum Namen (“Titel”), sowie zum Eigentümer und dem letzten Änderungsdatum. Bei bestimmten Dateitypen ist es möglich, diese zum Ändern zu öffnen. Dazu muss die Datei zunächst in ein Google-Dokument transferiert werden. Im Browser des Nutzers öffnet sich die Datei zum Ändern und im oberen Bereich des Bildschirms erscheint eine Bearbeitungsleiste, wie man sie auch aus anderen Office-Programmen kennt.

Google Drive ermöglicht das Verwalten der Dateien in Ordnern, die hier als Sammlung bezeichnet werden. Man kann eine Datei freigeben und damit auch Änderungen für andere Personen ermöglichen. Als weitestgehende Freigabeoptionen bietet Google die Web-Öffentlichkeit, so dass jeder im Internet Änderungen vornehmen kann. Man kann aber die Datei auch nur für Leute freigeben, die über den Link zur Datei verfügen. Die engste Freigabeoption ist die vertrauliche Freigabe. Hier müssen die Nutzer über vom Datei-Ersteller erteilte Berechtigungen verfügen, damit sie in die Datei schauen und die Inhalte ändern können.

Google Drive ist ein überzeugendes Angebot zur Dateinutzung im Internet, insbesondere dann, wenn man Dateien gemeinsam nutzen möchte.

After following the development of the company www.goruck.com for a while I decided to buy some of their gear last year. Since then I am using the rucksacks nearly on a daily base and I am really impressed by the quality of their products. Not only are they military-grade fabricated and durable – no they are also cool looking and great to use on a regular base. But that is only half of the story. I was introduced to the gear by my friend on twitter Patrick Rhone (thanks Patrick for that one!) a writer and great guy from the States (by the way you should read his book Enough and Minimal Mac – great piece of writing art). After taking a deeper look at the gear I was really ensure which rucksack I should give a try, so Patrick forwarded me to Uri Fridman from Packlite – also a very friendly and helpful guy which recommended me some of the rucksacks and was truly a great help while choosing the right gear (Thanks Uri for your advice and help).

SEO Campixx 2011 – Danke schön

Nun ist die SEO-CAMPIXX-2011 vorbei und die meisten SEO´s sind schon wieder auf dem Heimweg (Euch allen einen guten Heimweg und kommt sicher nach Hause), also Zeit vor dem Abendessen mit den Jungs von SEO-United einmal die Geschehnisse der letzten Tage aus meiner Sicht zusammen zu fassen. Da ich bereits seit der ersten SEO CAMPIXX dabei bin, konnte ich die Entwicklung gut verfolgen und muss an dieser Stelle dem Seonauten und seinem Team erst einmal ein grosses und herzliches “Dankeschön” aussprechen. Es ist schon toll was Ihr auf die Beine gestellt habt in dieser Zeit und auch in diesem Jahr hat es Spaß gemacht wieder in Berlin am Müggelsee zu sein.

Confusion between Thesis and WordPress

Right now there is a big confusion between the founder of WordPress, Matt Mullenweg, and the creator of the Thesis Premium-Theme, Chris Pearson, about the fact that Thesis should be built under the GPL-License. Matt Mullenweg insists on the fact that every software, theme or plugin that is built on a platform should automatically use the same license that the platform uses. But the question is why?

Why does a authority like Matt Mullenweg starts a discussion like that by spreading some statements which leave a lot of open space for free interpretation and in the end just causes more confusion instead of clearing the situation. Even during the discussion Matt Mullenweg says that even 100.000 Users just dont really count for WordPress because they have 25 Million users. WTF???!! Is that the spirit of the community that WordPress was built on?

Geekbeat.tv - the new show of Cali Lewis

Hello my friends & readers all over the world,

I am just sitting @ another airport and waiting for my connection flight when I decided to actualize my video podcasts. Since day 1 of the show GEEKBRIEF.TV I have been following this funny and amazing great show and on thousand of miles traveling the world it has been a true companion which I loved to watch above in the sky. But what I heard/read now just shocked me. The show is coming to an end! (More information and the last brief here on Cali Lewis Blog).

For me Geekbrief.tv was the best show about tech news and kept me informed in a great way. Just to see Neil and Cali doing the show and coming up with the latest an best news just made my day or better each flight a great expedition through the world of geeky tech news. Cali Lewis and Neil Campbell did a great job as one of the main pioneers of the podcast industry. A great THANK YOU to them.

The reason why I am writing these post here at the airport is not just a kind of homage to them, but is also a wake up call for all of you!(...)
