The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a film I first saw on pirated videotape when I was far too young to be watching it. My brother had managed to secure a copy and I sat down to watch it one night when my parents were away. It scared me so much I imagined a man with a chain saw coming out of the cupboard next to me for nigh on a week and a half. It kept me awake and frightened the hell out of me. I really enjoyed Moon (Filmstalker review) when I saw it, Duncan Jones crafted an excellent film that could have gone disastrously wrong, after all it concentrates on just one main character, and when a film does that for it's entire length, it has to be good and that character rich and hugely interesting. Everything relies on the writing and performance of that character, and no matter what is around them in terms of effects and story, if that character fails, the film fails. Sacha Baron Cohen was a huge success with his film Borat, so why not try and follow it up with another of his characters he's developed from his television show and bring him to life in a fully fledged film? I have to wonder why I'd bother watching Season of the Witch after watching this new trailer, for it seems to reveal a hell of a lot of the film's story. However, to be fair, it looks a pretty decent film starring Nicolas Cage, then again we don't get to see that much of him. It does concern me that we've seen just about everything in the film, perhaps there's more after this point, but reading the blurb I can't see what else there will be to it. Kull the Conqueror to get remake?

Kull the Conqueror was a film from 1997, doesn't seem that long ago really, but there's talk of a remake already. Well remake may be unfair because it seems that this new film is going back to the original source, the Robert E. Howard character who first appeared in 1929, well before Conan. It would seem that if this project comes to fruition, it will beat any Conan film to the cinema and maybe steal his thunder, something that Conan once did to Kull as Howard wote Conan from the original Kull character and stories....Visit Filmstalker for the full story. I've been a huge supporter of The Flying Scotsman (Filmstalker review) since it was released, I loved that film, and it really touched me on a very personal level and struck me as a great Scottish film. It's just a shame that a lot of people who held purse strings for the film didn't think so. Still, it got made, got released and found a huge audience, and we're all glad of that for it's a superb film and Scotland should be proud of it. While some are suggesting this is a remake of Defending Your Life, the Albert Brooks written , directed and starring film, although to me it sounds like it owes more to A Matter of Life and Death from 1946 starring David Niven. However the story of Ten Best Days of My Life has something a little different to it and portrays the afterlife a bit like a company with a hierarchy and a promotional system.
