AWeber stats will be temporarily under-reported

Here's a quick note for those of you who use the AWeber Blog Broadcast tool to deliver your FeedBurner feed by email.

On Wednesday, 10/7/09 AWeber will be making some back-end changes that may cause them to temporarily under-report subscriber numbers to FeedBurner. The reporting should be back to normal within 1-3 days.

Following that period, subscriber numbers from AWeber will be more accurate.

Google Feedfetcher subscriber counts are likely to change

Issue: We have learned that Google Feedfetcher - the service that reports subscribers on behalf of both Google Reader and iGoogle - has recently updated its subscriber count database after a period without any changes. Feedfetcher should show fresher, more accurate data starting Saturday, September 26th as reported in FeedBurner subscriber stats.

The impact of this update is that you may notice significant change in these stats for your feeds; but it's a change that represents more accurate subscriber information from this source.

[Updated] FriendFeed subscriber totals not reported

Issue: We are working with FriendFeed to determine why subscriber totals from this service are not available in the most recent daily subscriber counts reported for FeedBurner feeds. We will update this post with any status changes and resolution.

Updated: We have resolved the issue with FriendFeed, and you should see updated stats from FriendFeed in the 24 hours after your feed is polled by FriendFeed.

Workaround: None.

[Fixed] BuzzBoost currently rendering HTML instead of JavaScript widgets

Issue: BuzzBoost is currently rendering the raw HTML on pages instead of the correct JavaScript widgets. We will update this post with an ETA for a fix as soon as possible.

Workaround: None at this time

Update (10:29am CST 27-Aug): We are in process of pushing a fix to production. It is estimated the fix will be live within 3 hours.

Update (1 pm CST):This issue has now been resolved.

Reach statistic temporarily not calculated for June 13-15

Issue: FeedBurner's Reach statistic, a measure of actual interaction/engagement with your feed, is not currently available for June 13-15. We are in the process of restoring this calculation for these dates; our apologies for the inconvenience.

Workaround: None.

Scheduled Maintenance may delay stats reporting for 9-June

Issue: Scheduled maintenance in our data centers may affect FeedBurner's ability to report subscriber, reach and item statistic summaries collected for today, 9-June. (These stats would normally be reported and visible starting in the morning of 10-June, PST.)

If delayed, we should have these statistics restored by late evening 10-June, PST.

Please note that all feed serving and feed services will be not be affected by this maintenance event.

Update (11-Jun 7:50am PST): stats for 9-June should appear in all FeedBurner accounts.

Email subscribers temporarily missing from subscriber totals

Issue: If you use FeedBurner's email subscriptions service, your email-specific subscribers may not appear in your subscriber totals for 19-May. This a reporting issue we need to resolve internally and we will do so as soon as possible. Apologies for the sudden drop!

Workaround: None, but you can always view your email subscriber count and full list by visiting Publicize > Email Subscriptions > Subscription Management for any feed in your account.

My Feeds may not list all feeds for some publishers

Issue: Some publishers who sign in to FeedBurner may not see their feeds listed on the main My Feeds page. All feeds are accounted for and serving updates; none have been lost. We are investigating this issue and will update this post once we've got a resolution. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

Workaround: None. Please do not try to claim your feeds again if you have already done so, as your feeds are already associated with your Google Account and this bug is only a temporary display problem confined to the My Feeds view.

Update (5:55pm PST): This issue has been resolved; all publishers who have feeds in their Google Accounts should be able to see them again when signed in to feedburner.google.com.

Feeds not appearing on My Feeds for a few publishers

Issue: A few publishers who sign in to FeedBurner may not see their feeds listed on the main My Feeds page. All feeds are accounted for and serving updates; none have been lost. We discovered this bug early today and are working to publish a fix for it immediately. (We will update this post once the fix is live and all affected publishers should again be able to see and manage their feeds).

Workaround: None.

Update (2pm PST 24-Apr): Publisher accounts affected by the My Feeds display outage have been updated; all feeds should appear on that list.

Email deliveries for April 21st temporarily delayed; now resuming

Issue: FeedBurner’s regularly scheduled email delivery process was interrupted for several hours today, 21-Apr. We have since resumed this service; if you made a recent update and your regularly scheduled delivery window is between approximately 9am and 4pm GMT -0500, the update should arrive soon (if it hasn’t already).

April 13th feed stats are delayed

Issue: Our regular daily summary of all feed stats for 13-April has obviously been delayed. Currently, full subscriber, reach, and item statistics for this date are not available. We’re sorry for the delay and will update all accounts with this day's statistics as soon as we resolve the issue. In the meantime, all stats features you have enabled are still recording data for your feed(s), all AdSense for feeds stats and features are working, and your feed updates should be delivered normally.

Workaround: None.

Update (9:40pm PST): Subscriber stats for April 13th should now be in place for most publishers. Other feed stats for this date will start to appear soon.

Reduced subscribers reported by Google Feedfetcher

Issue: We are observing reduced subscriber totals reported by Google Feedfetcher for many feeds. This number represents subscribers you may have via Google Reader and iGoogle. These lower totals have occurred over the past two days. We’re working closely with the Feedfetcher team to determine when a resolution might be possible.

Workaround: None. Please bear in mind feeds are available as usual and subscribers (feed and email) are receiving any updates you may be posting. This is a reporting issue only.

Update (8-April 5:15pm PDT): Working with the Google Feedfetcher team, we have resolved the reporting issue and should begin to restore missing stats for all affected days (approximately 1-April through 8-April). Our apologies for this temporary gap in your feed stats coverage.

FeedBurner feeds based on Blogger content slow to update; resolution from Blogger forthcoming

Issue: Blogger has posted the following Known Issue, which may cause FeedBurner feeds based on Blogger content to fall behind and not show the latest updates.

Workaround: None. Blogger is actively working to resolve this issue. No changes to your FeedBurner account or feeds are necessary.

Update (3:20pm PST): Blogger has resolved the original issue; FeedBurner feeds based on Blogger content should now stay regularly up-to-date.

FeedBurner email updates temporarily delayed, now resuming

Issue: Email updates for feed that should have been delivered between approximately 12am through 7pm GMT, March 29, have been delayed due to a temporary issue. We have since addressed this issue and delayed email messages should now be on their way. Our apologies for this inconvenience.

Workaround: None. Delayed deliveries are being rescheduled and sent automatically.

Slow access to feedburner.google.com

Issue: You may encounter slow response time and see occasional error messages when trying to view and manage feeds through feedburner.google.com. (Feed serving and display is not affected.)

Workaround: None; the FeedBurner team is restoring speedy access to feedburner.google.com; we expect this work to be completed shortly and will update this post once it is fully completed.

Update (11 Mar 8:00pm PST): feedburner.google.com should now be up and running as normal.

Some users get redirected back to account selection screen with no error message

Issue: Some users get redirected back to the Account Selection screen without an error message when trying to move to a Google Account. It is estimated this affects about 1600 FeedBurner users. We intend to resolve this issue for all users.

Workaround: There is no workaround at this time, but these Account migrations may be resolved manually by Google engineering.

Account moves unavailable to some publishers

Issue: You have received an email from FeedBurner that instructs you to move your feedburner.com to a Google Account. However, when you sign in to feedburner.com, you are not prompted to take any action. Possible causes:

One or more of your FeedBurner feeds use Yahoo! Pipes feeds as their content source. Currently, feeds hosted on Google do not work reliably with Pipes, but feeds still hosted in the original feeds.feedburner.com environment do. We are still working directly with Yahoo! to resolve this issue permanently.
We may have detected that one of your feeds.feedburner.com feeds conflicts with a feed address in the Google-hosted system. We will be contacting you directly about this conflict and our resolution for it.

Workaround: Not quite yet. FeedBurner is working to resolve these account move scenarios as quickly as possible; Unless you are unable to move your account because of an address conflict, we will automatically restore the account move feature as soon as possible. We will update this blog post when the Yahoo! Pipes issue is resolved. Our apologies for this temporary inconvenience.

FeedFlare not currently displaying

Issue: FeedFlare links are not currently displaying in feeds or sites. We are working to restore service and apologize for this interruption.

Workaround: None; FeedFlare will automatically be restored in your feed (and on your site, if you have the script in place) once we have the issue resolved.

Update (17-Feb 7:50am PST): FeedFlare are displaying again on feeds and sites.

Feed serving and FeedBurner application outage

Issue: FeedBurner stopped serving feeds for about 45 minutes today, starting at approximately 9:15am PST. Most feeds are being served again properly, but we are still working to restore full service. feedburner.google.com is not currently available and we are also working very hard to restore access to FeedBurner service management and analytics features.

The ability to move feeds from feedburner.com to Google Accounts is also temporarily suspended. In addition, FeedFlare links are not currently being displayed on feeds or sites. We will update this post with status updates as they become available.

Update (10:25am PST): feedburner.google.com is now back online, and FeedBurner feeds are being served properly again.

Update 2 (11-Feb 4:35pm PST): Moving feeds from feedburner.com to a Google Account has resumed. If you were planning to move but were delayed by yesterday’s event, give it a go.

FeedFlare not currently displaying

Issue: If you use FeedFlare, be advised that these links are not currently displayed in your feed or on your website for Google-hosted feeds. We're working very hard to resolve this issue and bring FeedFlare back as soon as possible. If you could, please don't make any account setting changes, as the links will reappear automatically the moment we get things fixed. Thanks so much for your patience.

Workaround: None

Update (5-Feb 5pm CST): FeedFlare are displaying again.

Episode download link problems possible for some podcasts

If you have a FeedBurner podcast:

whose media episodes are linked through Podtrac.com

OR
whose media episodes contain spaces in the filenames

listeners will not be able to download your episodes. We have a fix for this issue that will be put it in place early this week.

Workaround: Click your feed's title on My Feeds, visit Analyze » Configure Stats, and un-check the "Item enclosure downloads (podcast downloads)" box. Click Save to save this setting. Your download links should immediately work again. A side effect of this workaround is that some podcatchers may mark existing episodes as "unread" when the link is changed.

We will update this post once a fix is in place and you are able to check the downloads box again to resume download stats tracking. Please note that all of your existing download stats will be preserved.

Update: We now have this fix in place and all podcasts affected by this issue should work now work properly.

Use Yahoo! Pipes? Hold off on moving your account to Google (for now)

If you use Yahoo! Pipes as the "Original Feed," or content source, for one or more FeedBurner feeds, and you haven't already moved over to a Google Account, please postpone moving it (for now).

We are working directly with Yahoo! to restore Google-hosted feeds' access to Pipes as soon as possible, but until this fix is in place, FeedBurner feeds with Pipes sources moved to Google will stop working properly.

So…please hang in there. (If you've already moved to Google, your Pipes-powered feeds will start working again automatically once we resolve this issue.)

Update (5-Feb): It appears Pipes-powered feeds are working properly again; Yahoo! also mentioned the needed updates on their side.

Subscriber statistics in feedburner.com will be delayed

There was a delay in starting FeedBurner's normal stats summary process. Publishers still managing feeds on the original feedburner.com website will not see subscriber stats summaries for 29-Jan on the Analyze tab, FeedCount chicklet, or in any AwarenessAPI call for subscriber statistics until early afternoon today (GMT -0600). We apologize for the delay in bringing these numbers your way and have the express trucks heading to the warehouse right now to fetch them.

Again, please note that this delay does not apply to publishers using Google Accounts.

Update (10:45a CST): Subscriber and reach numbers should now be back for all feeds.feedburner.com feeds.

Reported 'Google Feedfetcher' subscribers should be back to normal

If, after moving to a Google Account, you noticed a surprising drop in subscribers from "Google Feedfetcher," the system that reports subscribers and retrieves content for iGoogle and Google Reader, you should now see those subscribers returning to reports on your Analyze tab, in your FeedCount chicklet, and other places that display your feed subscriber count. (This is a belated follow-up to an issue that was reported late last week and originally mentioned in the FeedBurner Help Group.)

Error "999" when viewing or burning a new feed

Publishers with Google-hosted feeds based on Yahoo! Pipes or Delicious feed content may see an "Error 999" reported when they attempt to view their feeds, or burn new feeds based on content from these sources. We are working with Yahoo! to resolve this issue, but a full resolution is not expected for several days.

This post will be updated once Google-hosted FeedBurner feeds work properly with Pipes and Delicious-based content.

UPDATE (30-Jan): Delicious feeds work properly with feeds hosted by Google again. Feeds using Yahoo! Pipes as their source are not yet working in the Google-hosted environment. We will post a new, separate update once access to Pipes source content has been restored.
