First, UFOs would continue to appear around the world; and second, the openness policy would not lead to social unrest in liberal democracies.

Both conditions have been satisfied making it possible for the next stage to begin – official disclosure of extraterrestrial life. More>>

* * * *

Editor's Note: It is my own personal opinion that we will not have official disclosure any time soon, if ever.

De Void recently received an e-mail blast from the editors of the quarterly Journal of Alien-Encounter Research, who reminded De Void what De Void had been missing by not subscribing. Such as, quote (and no, this is not The Onion):

“How the aliens change the sexual orientation of some abductees; How the aliens are preparing to deposit hybrids on the ground, in numbers; About the 4-year-old boy the aliens told ‘Your parents don’t love you and they’re not your parents anyway’; About the alien-instigated romantic obsessions that leave abductees high, dry, and unrequited; About the abductee who collapsed sobbing in the arms of an alien; About the hybrid at the CIA who gave a lie detector test to an abductee; About an abductee catapulted into the face of God; About tall dark figures driving a black Cadillac in rural Utah; About an alien machine that can subdue a whole city; About vermillion-colored alien females in shiny robes who turned invisible.”

Look. De Void has nothing against alien abduction stories. America flung the last shovel of dirt on reality’s corpse six years ago during its WMD rah-rah fantasies in Iraq, so it’s all good, OK? But when it comes to dysfunctional relationships, De Void can only address his own shabby deficiencies. On all others — interpersonal to interspecies — De Void defers to Dr. Phil.

Still, given the ballyhoo surrounding the new UFO abduction flick, “The Fourth Kind,” De Void felt obliged to take a peek. Because the buzz started before Labor Day, when the Anchorage Daily News felt compelled to investigate the Universal Studios thriller’s premise that Nome is the alien abduction capitol of Alaska.

Naturally, the Daily News’ missing-persons piece uncovered far less exotic truths than Hollywood promised. But “The Fourth Kind’s” online trailers were especially clever, borrowing heavily from James Fox’s sober and sobering “I Know What I Saw” documentary for The History Channel. And the Blair Witchy theater previews pretty much guaranteed a respectable box office, with its “Based on Actual Case Studies” teasers and this unblinking declaration by Milla Jovovich: “Every scene in this movie is supported by archive footage.”

De Void’s intent here isn’t to do a review. You can find plenty of those at rottentomatoes.com where, at last glance, less than 30 percent of the critics were digging it. De Void just wanted to see if “The Fourth Kind” docu-drama had the potential to do for Project Blue Book what Oliver Stone’s “JFK” did in 1991 for the National Archives and the Dallas Police Department (i.e., provoke a public clamor for access to sealed records, a fluttery congressional response, etc.).

But from the get-go, when flat barren Nome unspools across the screen, having been relocated to a lush valley of Bulgarian timberland, it’s pretty clear that director Olatunde Osunsanmi isn’t even pretending to approximate reality. What he’s got is an old school horror flick, not unlike ‘The Exorcist,’ complete with vomit, excruciating pauses and abrupt booming sound effects that kept its youngish PG-13 audience in a hush until the very end. That’s when the protagonist, who can’t figure out where her daughter went, actually said this with a straight face: “I have to keep hope alive.” Really. Only then did the audience feel free to laugh.

Still, mesmerized by the declining standards of the new century, De Void actually enjoyed being manipulated by whiplash editing. And the coded little insider plugs were great. “I know what I saw but I can’t accept it,” says one shrink to the other, meaning: Thanks for promotional UFO footage, James Fox.

As the credits rolled against audio clips of supposedly legitimate UFO eyewitness accounts, De Void’s thinking: “This guy Osunsanmi’s got skills.” But with America also approaching next month’s 40th anniversary of the Project Blue Book scandal, it’s also a shame there aren’t any Oliver Stone types around to pull the trigger on the biggest turkey in the pen.

UFOs: What Is Known?

It's often said that we don't know much about UFOs, and that, given their apparent behavior, we are unlikely to ever know much. I don't blame people for saying this; they are feeling the frustration of not being able to solve the mystery. But, whereas it is true that we don't know enough to solve the mystery, and conceivably might never do so, it's not true that we don't know much about UFOs. In fact, we know so much about them, as case incidents, that you can't keep track of it all. The references above are warrior efforts by some guys who have tried to make it a little easier to keep track. Perusing their great masses of information [and there are others as well], one sees that there is, as Hynek once said, an "abundance of riches". The twin facts of this abundance of riches and the unsolvability of the mystery should give us pause for thought. That thought for me is: someone else must be deliberately manipulating how this has occurred so as to KEEP it unsolvable. [and I don't mean the government, which is surely a pip-squeak in this story]. Well, if we know somethings, what are they? [by the way, the pictures to the left aren't in any order, since I had no idea what exactly I was going to say when I started typing this. They illustrate some of the best and most interesting cases--some of which are commented upon below].
We know that the phenomenon is "real" in an objective sense. This stuff goes on in the physical world rather than just the mind. Even the University of Colorado team knew, and stated in internal documents at the early stages of the project, that the external nature of the phenomenon was not an issue of debate, given what we already knew. All the USAF study teams from 1947 through 1952 essentially immediately said the same thing. In the Boianai case, 38 people saw an "impossible" disk silently standing in the sky. It was no "mirage". Entities on the deck waved in response to the humans waving on the ground. Anyone who objects that only one witness was "white", needs to check out their soul. Many of the locally-born witnesses were interviewed several times, including by Hynek himself [a rather amusing tape to listen to, by the way].A year earlier, my brother and I were listening to a guy on the radio, several miles away, describing a UFO, when we looked out and saw our CE1 domed disk. This phenomenon happens, and it happens in an objectively multi-witnessable way. And, it seems clearly technological. There was no doubt in my or my brother's mind that we were looking at a made device. There was no doubt in the Boianai witnesses that they were too. There was no doubt in the minds of Project SIGN nor practically anyone who has really immersed themselves in the case data. These "devices" look both technological and far advanced beyond what WE do. [anyone who thinks that the ETH is a stupid thought to present as a hypothesis has a fundamental prejudice of their own---the ETH may be wrong, but it is not stupid].
The Nash-Fortenberry case is a classic of multi-&-experienced witnesses seeing something that was clearly flying, clearly purposively [it was a FORMATION flying], and clearly out off our league in terms of performance characteristics. These disks not only flew as aircraft might [in stepped-up "echelon" formation] but did a "non-inertial" sudden stop, a reversal of positioning, and racing off to be joined by two other disks which maintained the original formation flown. There was nothing "random" about this. This was structured and intelligent. Desperate debunking morons have floated hypotheses like "there were lightning bugs trapped in the aircraft windshield" or "the pilots couldn't recognize that they were smoking and their cigarettes were shining off the window". The level of denial and simple jerk-ness in these people is astounding. A very large portion of the phenomenon looks intelligently-driven and aimed at the witnesses specifically. Due to an insight by a colleague at CUFOS, I collected a double-handful of cases [it's about twice that now] wherein the UFO made precise motions "around" astronomical objects with respect to the observing angle of the witnesses on the ground. The Lake Ronkonoma case is an outstanding example of this. To pull off this precision, the UFO controller must know exactly where the targeted observer is and fly accordingly. The fact that these "astronomical alignments" most often are flown for the benefit of astronomers makes this a bit freaky. [I have a friend who said that this was the most disturbing feature of the phenomenon that he'd encountered]. Just to help our paranoia, I've nick-named this "we know where you live". Astro-alignments are just a small part of a vast set of cases which seem to be "displays". This then is another of the quintessential features of the UFOs--they are extremely OVERT to the witnesses, while remaining diabolically-cleverly COVERT to the consensus reality. Again, this should give one some moments of thought about the seeming truth that this whole show operates according to a plan.
The phenomenon is operating within our physical universe. Many times it may just be in the form of projections of light [ beams, holograms, various elements of the spectrum], but there are several categories of cases which seem to involve a real spatial presence. UFOs may register on instruments--photography, radar, rarely geiger counters. While doing so, some cases have the UFO moving around just as if it were "flying" in normal 3-space. Admittedly, one can imagine elaborate projection simulations with consequent beaming of light energies of various kinds, and this may be true. But it is just as possible that these sorts of cases indicate real physical presence. Even if the "craft" is not here, the lightbeam technology projections are. Sometimes it seems that the case demands such a non-mass projection or hologram display or whatever. A major example is the tremendous [in both size and investigative quality] encounter researched by Martin Jasik--the "Yukon Giant". This widely-experienced and many-witnessed incident featured an object so large that when it began to move it should have sucked the air out of a large area in central Yukon, but it did not. One supposes that with extremely advanced technology anything is possible, but the simplest hypothesis is that the "Giant" was a projection. Nevertheless, Close Encounters of the Second Kind, like electromagnetic and machine-interference effects, as well as trace effects on plants/crops [of which there are hundreds] would more easily suggest physical presence. I opt for physical presence in these latter cases due to one "odd" element in them. You can take a couple dozen of the best CE2 electromagnetics cases and compare the appearances of the crafts. There's no uniformity. The minds behind the "agenda" can stop a car using the presence of a sphere, a disk, a domed disk, a BOL colored one way, a BOL colored another, a disk which beams, a disk which does not, a beam which narrows, a beam which spreads---etc as far as you want to go. The Appearance of the craft makes no difference. You can stop a car regardless of how you make your UFO look and behave. It's all the show put on by the "magician" so that you never see any pattern [as firm patterns could lead to a requirement that consensus reality admit that the phenomenon is real]. It is because of this effort to disguise any regularity behind the crafts that I feel that the informationally-useless crafts are probably actually here. They would be a convenient focus for whatever the agenda-ists are doing without giving anything away. The great Mansfield case, where a National Guard Helicopter was "tractor-beam-pulled" up in the air, is an unusual but spectacular case of what looks like physical presence. It is also one one the solidest cases on record, with the appropriately moronically-desperate "solutions" by the debunkers.
There are quite a few more things that the UFO research community could mention that are known, but my one-fingered typing is getting tired. Taken as a whole, the great pile of UFO experiences acts like a huge display agenda which is trying to impact individuals without markedly impacting the consensus knowledge of the established guardians and determiners of what is real. What this agenda is, is not at all known, in my opinion. My friends in the CE4 community have their hypotheses--but they are not convincing [at all] to me--regardless of how much I like the guys. Comments that the agenda is seeping into the majority culture through all the science-fiction awareness, is also non-obvious to me--I see nothing there that I would rate as significant. That is why my preferred hypothesis right now [yes, I will change tomorrow] is that these characters have had no need to be incredibly patient, but have been getting done what they've wanted to do all along. I've mentioned my concept of three types of Uber-advanced cultures in an earlier post, and none of them would need a long time to get into what they were separately interested in. And none of them would be consensus-reality interfering but would like to be either passive observers or overt exciters of individuals. Yeh, it's way speculative at that point. I don't claim anything for it--other than it deals with the "60" years as I know them.
Let's sign off with these three last neat cases. Cotile Lake was a case where a family friend and two daughters were returning to the truck with camping gear and a big UFO came overhead, shot blue beams down on them, paralyzing them temporarily. When the beams went off the three were able to move again. Allen Hynek investigated this case himself. Amarante is the nickname that the French government investigative office, GEPAN, gave this encounter, wherein a mini-UFO flew into an urban garden and posed for a while for the witness [a scientist]. They took samples of the plants nearby and the labs found that the plants showed the effects of some type of radiation on their pigments. This effect was inversely proportional to the distance of the plants from the object--that is, it obeyed normal 1/r-squared laws of radiant energy. The last case is one of my favorites. A wife is driving her sleeping husband home from an accident on a job a distance away. Near their home she sees that all the security lights are out. Then she sees that a weird cone-shaped object is heading her way. Her car quits. Then the thing seems to be picking up her car as the front end leaves the ground. Understandably panicky, her hollering wakes up her husband and he sees the the car's front is off the ground, too. The object retreats and they come back to Earth with a thud. Their landlord noticed odd light effects and electrical interference at the time, as well. Hmmm. Sounds pretty physical to me...and not at all like the CIA, no matter how much they might like to be able to do any of this.

The lights seemed to dance and moved between trees and brush.

Once I stepped out they both pointed directly at me as if the lights were mounted on a helmet or head. The lights were amber in color and round.

10-25-2009 9:30pm Witnessed strange lights moving through wooded areas near my residence moving in and out of the tree coverage. Sighting lasted about a minute. Video was taken of this event.

One light was due west about 300 yards from my property. 10-29-2009 Noticed strange lights in the sky, East horizon.

The first light traveled in from the sky at about a 45 degree angle and stopped suddenly. About a minute later a second light streaked in from the south and also stopped suddenly. At about this time I started taping the event.

About 2 to 3 minutes later the third light came in from the north and streaked in is 3 separate busts of speed. Once all three lights were in a triangle formation they seemed to instantly inch
towards the middle of the formation as if it "docked".

The Formation of lights then slowly started to drift down towards the ground. The formation of lights then seemed to quickly shift a few degrees instantly. A second witness my wife witnessed this and quickly went back into the house.

At this point I could hear a helicopter approaching from the south. The Helicopter seemed to approach the formation of lights and or between me and the lights. The helicopter also flew directly over my house and circled the house after I pointed the camcorder at it with its IR light on about three times.

The Objects eventually went up slowly and started to separate and disappeared over a long period of time. The helicopter returned the next night but flew in one direction.

11-3-2009 About 1:25sm in the morning we heard noses in the back yard. Sun in Law and myself went to the backyard. We could hear noises and braches braking.

My sun in law pointed his light in the shrubs and we saw what looked like a pal white skin arm grasping a branch. It seemed to duck the light and hide but we should still see the hand and part of the arm.

We froze and went into a sort of shock and returned to the house quickly returned to the house and did not go back outside.

The hand seemed to have a total of 4 digits, 3 fingers and one thumb the center finger was longer the other two fingers. The skin was pale gray.

= = = = = = = = = = = =

UFOs: What Is Believed?

A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled on an old file folder that had within it some "favorite" cases listed by some well-known veteran UFOlogists. Coincidentally, another such list popped up on the web. Well, serendipidity I say to myself, and stick the two things together on the side of my desk. Uncovering them from the accumulated debris which followed, I thought, hmmm, why not post them? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I totalled them up and the result is the table you're looking at. These are the cases that 35 veteran UK and USA UFO researchers "believed", that is, the ones they would "take to war" with the skeptics. What you have here is a gestalt synthesis of these researchers' Strangeness/Credibility graphs that they carry around in their heads. For them, these are the cases with enough strangeness to indicate that the incident involved true anomalousness, and, more importantly, was reported by witnesses that they had some reason to trust. [It's ironic that the lead case is Socorro...just at the time some meatheads are trying to push a preposterous "explanation" of it, and just three days after Lonnie Zamora passed away.] The list shows a lot of "cultural bias" in that very few "foreign" cases appear, but in many ways surprised me at its relative uniformity and its match with what Ufologists would expect from the history books. I'll say something more about this list in a moment.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above list is not my list. But guilt has made me say, you put them out there, you better fess-up and put your own cases on the line. So, remembering that such things are a "movable feast" changing as the years and knowledge arrives, I've put one together on the left. There are a lot of similarities [and, by the way, if I felt that a completely different set of cases was the "proper" list, you'd have gotten a completely different set. But I apparently am not entirely residing on Pluto, so there are agreements.] The differences stem from my research emphasis on early UFOlogy, I believe. Something strikes me about these two lists [including the "extension" list of my favorites below]. They overwhelmingly "honor" the phenomenon of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s. After the year 1980, the veteran researchers are not as "confident" in the "goodness" of the cases at all. Other researchers who would wail at this, need to take at least one thing away from this result: no matter how good they think their work and their cases have been, they have not made their case well. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In my supplementary list [and this could go on to quite lengthy numbers] I've tossed in favorite cases of differing sorts of strange elements to better cover the UFO phenomenology. Even adding these in, the emphasis is still 50s,60s,70s. The strangeness quotients are not what's making the difference here. The difference is in the credibility: the trust in the witnesses and the trust in the quality of the field study. Even when one was dealing with a botch job by the USAF, one had lengthy reports in the hand of witnesses [or same as] and independent interviews or commentaries and, over time, we "got to know" who these people were [often] or at least could set them into some credible context where not everything reduced to "believe it or not". Modern research has often considered the cases so "private" or the researchers become themselves so guarded with their information that the rest of us are often left outside looking in. Naturally we're not in a comfort zone about such claims. All this and more produces lists which emphasize "old-fashioned" UFOlogy. They are lists which count 25 CE2s vs. 4 CE4s. [I'm counting if I doubled an "expert" case, which I shouldn't, but that didn't hurt the ratio]. I note that I am more "risk-taking" than my colleagues, mentioning 4 "high-strangeness" incidents [Toledo; Taize; Lytchett Minster; and Montrose] [admittedly in my second list] but none of us are high on CE4s except for the Hills, Walton, and Buff Ledge. The question a UFO researcher should ask is: what is the consensus Credibility/ Strangeness criteria graph like? What do my colleagues think is reasonable? Where have I fallen short [if so one has]? None of this means that we do not believe on-board experiences have taken place. Almost every well-read UFO researcher that I know thinks that the Hills experience happened, though they hardly agree on what the "agenda" was. Almost anyone who has read Walt Webb's Buff Ledge Incident believes that one happened too. Others start running into resistance. Why this is, I have not the answer. But it's real. If anyone who researches CE4s cares, they should think about this.

Lonnie Zamora, the policeman who reported the Socorro landed UFO, died on Monday, November 2. Colleagues in the police department said that it was heart failure.

Zamora zoomed into national prominence when he reported seeing an egg-shaped craft with two small creatures near it outside of Socorro, New Mexico. The Air Force, then charged with the investigation of UFO sightings sent Northwestern astronomer and their scientific consultant, Dr. J. Allen Hynek, to Socorro to investigate. No matter what Zamora saw, it seemed that the investigators, that also included the FBI and Zamora’s fellow police officers, believed he was describing what he had seen and was not a participant in a hoax.

I never met him, but a good friend, Robert Charles Cornett, who had an interest in UFOs and in astronomy had been in the Socorro area a couple of decades ago to visit the Very Large Array Radio Telescope. On a whim, he called Zamora and was invited to a backyard barbeque, providing that Cornett asked nothing about the UFO sightings. Zamora was tired of talking about it.

Cornett told me that Zamora was a nice man. Friendly to those from outside New Mexico. But he didn’t want to talk about flying saucers.

Those who knew him much better have said that he was a good man and a good police officer. Had it not been for his brush with the unknown, he would have passed a quiet life in New Mexico and might have been happier for it.

Lonnie Zamora 1933 – 2009.

Alien Abduction In New York

Note: This abduction report was filed with MUFON, in October, 2009.

I am 53 years old and live in Westchester County, NY, and have seen UFOs four times, that I know of. I've always lived in the Hudson Valley.

The first sighting was when I was a teenager. My sister and I and a night watchman at Bard College witnessed a disc with multi-colored lights above the Hudson River. The speed and directional angles it traveled convinced us it was not of this world, and we were astounded when it finally shot off into space at an amazing rate.

A few years later, again on the Hudson River, I was going over the Kingston Rhinecliff bridge with two friends at about three in the morning to get breakfast after closing the bar we worked at (none of us had been drinking, I swear) and there, hovering above the river, was a gray saucer emitting a beam of light into the river.

I remember we stopped the car to watch in amazement. However, to this day, none of us can recall leaving the bridge, or eating breakfast, or returning home, yet, somehow, we all got home safely.

I grew up in a very old house at Bard College that was on the edge of a field with woods surrounding us. I have childhood memories of very bright lights shining in my windows, and of having out of body experiences, where I was floating at ceiling level watching my body in my bed. I once woke up in my room in the wrong bed, above the covers, facing the wrong way, with a bloody nose, and no recollection of how I got there. I never ever considered UFO abduction.

Years later, on the island of Kauai overlooking Hanalei Bay, I woke my husband and announced that I was pregnant and in nine months we'd have a son. I had a vivid dream before he was born
(I was right!) of standing on a balcony at Hanalei Bay with my son in my arms, watching a UFO come towards me.

I knew they wanted my son. When he was four, he started telling me about his friends from the sky, whom he named Ditty, Pom Pom, Ten Ten and King King. He told me I knew who they were and, periodically throughout his childhood, he'd tell me, "they're coming".

When he was about 12, he told me he and his little cousins had seen a UFO come across the lake towards them at our house in the Adirondacks.

When he was 16, he woke one morning and had two perfectly cylindrical marks on his calf that

looked like they had been made by a machine. A year ago I was in my bedroom sleeping when my husband woke me up because there was a blood red orb in our room, and it was freaking him out. It was about the size of a beach ball, hovering at ceiling level. It looked gelatinous and fluid, lit from within, and it pulsated. All the shades were drawn in the room, so it wasn't a reflection of anything external.

Now, normally, I would have been very excited, I would have been grabbing a camera and would have tried to figure out what the hell it was, but all I wanted to do was get back in my bed and go to sleep. This, too, is strange, because I am normally a night owl, and I never would have been asleep that early. It felt like I had been drugged.

My husband said he had to leave, that he was going downstairs to sleep (thanks, faithful husband), and he left. I got back into bed, and the orb traveled across the room, still at ceiling level, and came to stop directly over my head, still at ceiling level.

I remember watching it above me, but that is all I remember of that night. Two days later, my head started hurting really badly. It felt like it was filled with mucous, and for a month and a half, I was in constant pain.

Numerous trips to two different doctors, along with two series of steroids, and three series of antibiotics, failed to give me relief. An MRI of my head showed it was full of something, actually packed with something, but the doctors were at a loss to explain what it was or why it wasn't going away.

Now comes the really gross part of the story. One morning on the toilet, a fairly large, gelatinous blob of something came out of me into the toilet. I thought about taking a sample of it for analysis, but then I

thought, "How am I to explain this? Where in the hell would I bring this for analysis? People will think I'm insane!? The one upshot, though, was my head was miraculously clear, finally.

Then my health really went kablooey. My blood pressure skyrocketed, as did my cholesterol, and different joints started becoming inflamed at different times. When it was in my knees, I couldn't walk, when it was in my hands, I couldn't even dress myself. At different times, every joint of my body has been affected.

My rheumatoid factor has shot up to five times a normal person's level, and the doctors keep finding blood in my urine with no explanation as to why. I was finally given a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, and I am battling it still, but I am more and more convinced that something entered me that night and is systematically going through my body, which is causing my autoimmune system to go haywire.

Prior to all this, I have to say I'd enjoyed good health. I come from a family that believes you only go to a doctor if you're really, really ill. I am no hypochondriac, far from it.

Also, it might be prudent to add that I have always been very psychic. As a child, I always knew if one of my siblings was in trouble. As an adult, I have even known when my adult son or daughter is throwing up, because even if I'm miles away, I literally feel what they're experiencing.

I have predicted two car accidents, because I saw them happening about a week before they occurred as I was drifting off to sleep. I don't always know who is going to be involved, but I now know to warn friends and family when I have one of these precognitive episodes.

Editor's note: In my opinion, this woman's account of what she has been through, has the ring of truth. Her experiences are much like that of others that have been taken against their will.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease, much like Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). It is not know what causes these conditions but they can come on suddenly and are painfully real. I should know, I was diagnosed with SLE in 1986. - SW

The massive hovering thing flashed its running lights and parked itself some 50 feet above Gwen Gleason’s house near San Jose, Calif., then vanished as abruptly as it had appeared, without a sound. She was 12 years old. She never figured it out. But she tried.

When she reached her 30s, she even tried hypnotic regression to recover details she might’ve forgotten. But the therapist “was trying to put stuff in my mind,” Gleason recalls. “She’d say things like, ‘Do you remember seeing a door open?’ or ‘Do you remember an alien?’ That wasn’t the way I wanted to go.”

But the impression lingered. She graduated into the Internet age. Images, blogs, chat rooms. Now 50 and living in Bradenton, Gleason saw the video below and got inspired. It was recorded on July 28 in the night skies over Dundee, Scotland, by Gary McDaid. At the 1:03 mark, two apparent UFOs emerge and begin scissoring in tandem, as if tethered by an invisible rubber band. According to the narration, they swing from north to east to west, their proximity to each other fluctuating like breathing rhythms.

Gleason contacted McDaid online and found out how he acquired the images. She got herself a Yukon Night Vision monocular, bought a tripod, hooked her camcorder up to portable TV monitor. She even traveled to Englewood to rendezvous for a skywatch with Jamie Havican.

“And he was right. I can start seeing them right after sunset, one after another, boom boom boom,” Gleason says. “If it’s a clear night, I can count on seeing anywhere from one to 12 — easy.”

She visited orbital tracker Web pages and began realizing the extent of the clutter upstairs. In fact, given the mindless tumbling volume of derelict hardware and satellites — unclassified and black — reflecting sunlight, she quickly got over her fascination with single white dots traveling in straight lines. She started looking for directional shifts, and/or multiple synchronized targets.

On Oct. 13, from the eastward-facing window of her home, Gleason finally bagged what she was looking for — a UFO that appears to make course adjustments. It’s a subtle thing, practically ambiguous. She vows to improve once she acquires a better TV monitor. She wants to get as good as Scotland’s Gary McDaid, a guy she’s never met. She makes him sound like a NASCAR points leader.

“You’ve got to look for the ones that go really fast. That takes skill, because you never know when it’s going to happen,” Gleason says. “We both use tripods, but he’s got his hand on it constantly. He’s got really good reaction time.”

Maybe it’s skill, maybe it’s luck. Either way, Gleason’s bottom line is self evident. “I am,” she says, “totally hooked.”

I've never seen anything like this before ever and I don't think I ever will be seeing anything like this. So at least we got it on tape," said Michelle Hampton of Hallsville.

"We looked up and saw a shiny object in the sky and I don't know what it was, but it was going crazy," said Hampton. It would get smaller and bigger and go everywhere."

Though the Hampton's don't know what it is, they definitely know what it's not.

"It was not just a star it was something else.
State-of-the-Art in UFO Disclosure Worldwide & the Australian experience

Respected Spanish researcherVicente-Juan Ballester Olmos has produced an excellent general overview of the state of UFO "disclosure" activities worlwide, i.e. the extent and chronology of the release and access to government, military and intelligence files on UFOs from around the world.

Quoting from Vicente-Juan's November 1 2009 release notice:
"State-of-the-Art in UFO Disclosure Worldwide". This essay is described and prefaced in: http://fotocat.blogspot.com/ The full paper can be found at: http://www.anomalia.org/disclosure.pdf
I hope you find interesting this research consolidating a general picture of all the official UFO release and declassification programs in the world.

I worked closely with Vicente-Juan to develop a picture of the Australian experience. While the general picture precludes "the devil in the detail" aspects I have included below some of the material which informed the final version of the Australian section of the document.

I welcome any corrections or clarifications. I had to work on the basis of verifiable details which precluded information of a vague or unverifed nature from anonymous parties and from groups and individuals who have not provided detail or evidence of information which may have been referred to in fragmented or limited ways.

(extract) from my UFOs Sub Rosa down under document (on line since 1999)

The blog seems to keep compacting the table data set out below, so these are best seen at the following link towards the end of part 4: http://www.theozfiles.com/ufos_subrosa4.html

THE RAAF UFO DATA

Over 1,612 reports have been received by the RAAF from between 1950 and until June, 1984. The actual figure is somewhat greater due to incomplete records and scattered omissions from the Summary reports periodically produced by the RAAF between 1965 and 1980. Accurate figures for the period 1950 and 1954 are not possible, due to the loss of the original files. It is possible to give a rough statistical breakdown of the RAAF's"total" investigations from 1950 to June, 1984. This needs to be broken upinto 4 periods, due to different sources of information and lack of official"unknown" percentages outside the period from 1960 to 1980 inclusive.

PERIOD 1 (1950 - 1954):

No. %
YEAR No. "unknown" "unknown"
1950 3 0 0
1951 4 2 50%
1952 5 0 0
1953 13 2 15.4%
1954 38 8 20.0%

Records for this period are incomplete with the only surviving records beingthe previously secret "1954 Report on "Flying Saucers"" prepared for the Directorate of Air Force Intelligence (DAFI) at their request by nuclearphysicist, Harry Turner, as a "scientific appreciation" of their reports. Some of reports from this period survive in the old Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) UFO files which were examined by me during November, 1982, at the Melbourne offices of the Bureau of Air Safety Investigation. The total for 1954 is made up 35 from the "1954 Report" plus 3 additional reports, namely 2 from the Ballarat School of Radio and the classic radar visual event over Goulburn, NSW, involving a Naval Sea Fury aircraft. Only the latter is included as an "unknown" in addition to those cited in the "1954 Report".

PERIOD 2 (1955 - 1959)

No %
YEAR No "unknown" "unknown"
1955 3 0 0
1956 9 1 11.1%
1957 14 2 14.2%
1958 7 1 14.3%
1959 24 2 8.3%

Records for only the latter part of 1955 are present in the extant DAFI filesI examined. Reports for 1956 to 1959 appear to be somewhat incomplete. Summariesnos. 10, 11 and 12 were not generally released but were supplied to me, during my file review in 1982, by the RAAF.

BREAKDOWN OF RAAF UFO INVESTIGATIONS

Total no. no. %
Year of reports "Unknowns"* "Unknowns" Source of Information
1960 20 0 0.0 Summary No. 1
1961 14 0 0.0 Summary No. 1
1962 25 0 0.0 Summary No. 1
1963 17 0 0.0 Summary No. 1
1964 17 1 5.9 Summary No. 1
1965 52 2 3.9 Summary No. 1
1966 74 1 1.4 Summary No. 1
1967 95 0 0.0 Summary No. 1
1968 101 0 0.0 Summary No. 1
1969 94 2 2.1 Summary No. 2
1970 37 4 10.8 Summary No. 3
1971 52 6 11.5 Summary No. 3
1972 87 11 12.6 Summary No. 4
1973 193 4 2.1 Summary No. 5
1974 67 2 3.0 Summary No. 6
1975 39 4 10.2 Summary No. 7
1976 39 4 10.2 Summary No. 8
1977 25 6 24.0 Summary No. 9
1978 118 30 25.4 Summary No.10
1979 45 15 33.3 Summary No.11
1980 47 10 21.3 Summary No.12

TOTAL: 1258 102 8.1% (average)

Some "unknowns" are not included due to low weight status, i.e. insufficientinformation or possible explanation provided was probable.

PERIOD 4 (1981-1984)

Only actual numbers of reports on file with the RAAF can be supplied based onpersonal file inspections and DAFI advice:

YEAR Total No. of reports
1981 44
1982 56
1983 117
1984* 15 (* up till June 1984)

THE CIVILIAN UFO DATA

To properly put the RAAF data into perspective, consider the following. From 1950 to 1984, the RAAF dealt with more than 1,612 reports, and 1,258from 1960 to 1980. One of the best civilian groups in Australia, the Tasmanian UFO InvestigationCentre (TUFOIC), has been keeping valuable statistics on their investigationsfor years. For one small Australian state alone, they have dealt with 2,131reports up to and including 1980.The period 1960 to 1980 has been chosen as it is the only period for which the RAAF have published data. The following table compares the data.

Organisation Total Number Total number % "unknowns"
of reports of "unknowns"

RAAF 1,258 102 8.1%
TUFOIC 1,681 390 23.2%

It is quite apparent that compared to civilian UFO research groups the RAAF has far less claim to having legitimately and comprehensively examined the UFO problem.

In terms of actual "disclosure" or access efforts the following information details some of these activities. Pioneer flying saucer researcher Edgar Jarrold (from Sydney) had a meeting with DAFI (Directorate of Air Force Intelligence) Sqd. Ldr. Peter Birch in Melbourne during 1954. This was a discussion style meeting. Jarrold did not get any access to files. Similarly from Fred Stone a researcher from South Australia. The CAPIO (Commonwealth Aerial Phenomena Investigation Organisation) formed in 1965 as a united civilian front also only received limited information.

Year: 1965-1977
Period covered 1960 to 1977 Archives released: Sighting summaries 1-9 released: 1,048 reports summarised.Comments: The first of the summaries appeared in 1965 listing events from 1960 to 1965. This format continued up to 1968. 1969 marked the first of the annual summary formats, which largely continued up to 1977. These summaries became the form of "public disclosure". A few researchers and groups got some actual case reports such as VUFORS and myself, but the former did not detail any of the material they apparently received.

Year: 1982-1984 Period covered: 1950 to 1984 Archives released: 63 files examined by Bill Chalker which included more than 1,610 reports mainly from RAAF DOD files and limited amount from DoA (Dept. of Aviation) files. Sighting summary No. 9 (1977 reports) was the last publically released. Summaries 10 to 12 covering 1978, 1979 and 1980 (a total of 210 summarised reports) were released to Bill Chalker in 1982. Bill Chalker published extensively on this access and made a set of file papers available to the UFO Research Australia Network (in lieu of the decline of the Australian Centre for UFO Studies).Comments: 18 RAAF files were examined in my first 1982 visit. The total examined through to 1984 were the 63 files mentioned.

Year: 1999 Period covered: 1953-1955 (the "missing" first DAFI file 114/1/197), 1952-1955 (The Casey UFO papers), 1954 (Sea Fury case file), 1952-1957 (CSIRO file), 1952 - 1960 NSW DoA UFO files. Archives released: Bill Chalker examined 114/1/197 file and CSIRO file in Canberra NAA office. Jason Cowland, then a Victorian based researcher, facilitated my access to the Casey papers and the Sea Fury case file, the latter duplicated RAN (Royal Australian Navy) file released to me in 1982.
[During this period Keith Basterfield started using the Archives Act under the 30 year rule to get full copies of early DOD file series.]

Year: 2000 Period covered: 1968 - 1973 (JIB/JIO DOD UFO files) Archives released: Government intelligence files copies given to Bill Chalker from private files of Harry Turner, retired Defence scientist.

Year: 2001 Period covered: 1952, 1969 Archives released: 1952 file re NSW sightings which precipitated Government minister Richard Casey's entry into the UFO controversy.

By 2003 the first of the digitised government UFO files began to appear on the NAA web site.

Year: 2003 to 2008 Period covered: 1950 to 1991 Archives released: 151 files examined by the AUFORN auspiced Disclosure Australia project undertaked by AURA group co-ordinated by Keith Basterfield. Uncertain quantity of reports beyond 1,610, mainly RAAF files, but also including CSIRO, Department of Supply , DoA, JIB/JIO (now DIO - Defence Intelligence Organisation), ASIO and other agencies. Kennedy in the 1960s, I can assure one and all that he did not harbor an intensive public interest in UFOs, a bit of fiction helped along by a phony letter with RFK's signature which continues to make Internet rounds.

But then there was Arizona's Senator Barry Goldwater, a Republican who might have become President in 1964 if not for the endeavors of an opposition successfully and absurdly depicting him as a madman whose efforts would result in a nuclear holocaust. I felt an immense respect for Goldwater, particularly because he wasn't afraid to speak his mind (for example, many among his congressional colleagues and military personnel went spastic with outrage in later years when he suggested that openly allowing homosexuals in the Armed Services is no big deal) and didn't walk the politically correct tightrope which concerns so many public servants anymore. I'm not saying I wanted him to nuke the world, but at least he would have been forthright enough to announce on TV, folks, tomorrow morning at 8:00 sharp I'm blowing up the world, and that's how it's gonna be. You just have to respect that refreshing, take-charge attitude.

Many "pro" statements about UFOs made by this late senator happen to be true. We printed one of his letters about the subject a few months ago (put his name in the on-site search engine above and that entry should pop up), and it's hardly the only one out there.

Back in the sixties and seventies, when UFOs were hot stuff and the national media stayed awake and alert, throbbing with a palpable pulse, notable events sometimes happened or were reported about almost simultaneously. During the first two weeks of November, 1973, Senator -- and retired Air Force Reserve Brigadier General -- Goldwater told students during a speech at Washington State College that UFOs are real. According to an Associated Press story that echoed throughout the nation, seasoned pilot Goldwater stated, "I've been flying for 44 years, and I'm the last guy that's going to say I don't believe they're up there." Asked about UFOs during the question-and-answer session, Goldwater replied, "I've never seen one. But when Air Force pilots, Navy pilots and airline pilots tell me they see something come up on their wing that wasn't an airplane, I have to believe them."

However, the ink regarding Goldwater had barely dried on newspapers from coast to coast before the AP coughed up another gem, the bizarre story from Canada of an Ottawa family pursued by a UFO sometime during the same week when Barry Goldwater gifted the U.S. with his insight. These were the days, mind you, when UFOs not only tended to take the high road, they also took the roads less traveled during darkness, and on this evening occasion an object with flashing white lights was reported to have chased a family's truck along Highway 417 at speeds up to 100 miles an hour.

"I noticed these bright lights in my side-view mirror, claimed Rick Bouchard, 25, driving with his wife and three small children aboard. According to his account, the object seemed to be about 10 feet wide and even at speeds up to 100 miles per hour the UFO approached within 15 feet of the truck and hovered about four feet above the road.

"The children were petrified," said Bouchard's wife, Donna. The UFO finally disappeared behind trees and police were notified.

Adding to the mystery, a family friend returned to that stretch of highway later in the evening to investigate and reported pursuit by a similar object. Ron Hamelin, a 19-year-old who knew and worked with Rick Bouchard, said when he turned off his lights the object disappeared. "I know what I saw," Hamelin insisted. "If people don't believe me, that's tough."

Enter The National Enquirer. Though a significant percentage of almost any population would roll their eyes and bemoan the Enquirer's long reputation as a sensational tabloid, some of us know a not so secret secret -- that the Enquirer of particularly the seventies and eighties offered a wealth of well-researched reports on UFO activity. This I learned personally, when the publication dispatched one, and eventually a second reporter to Central NY to investigate some major UFO activity, and I had an opportunity to watch them hard at work, practicing honest-to-goodness journalism (for more, type National Enquirer in the search engine above).

So UFO sightings and close encounter reports became nearly as commonplace as moths near a flame in 1973, all in the absence of the Air Force's long-dismantled Project Blue Book, and despite the subject's presumed banishment from common sense via the non-science performed by Dr. Edward Condon and his merry debunkers at the University of Colorado.

The thing was, however, watchdogs at The Enquirer had not neglected Barry Goldwater's November surprise, and when the January 6, 1974 edition of the tabloid hit national newsstands, grocery stores and pharmacies, Senator Goldwater returned with a vengeance: "I Believe Earth Has Been Visited By Creatures From Outer Space," screamed the quote above the Enquirer's exclusive interview with the senator. "I'm not convinced," Goldwater told reporter Allan A. Zullo, "after having been around for 65 years, that human beings are the smartest creatures in the universe. . .They may not look or talk like us, but I have very strong feelings they have advanced past our mental capabilities."

Admitting to cases where military and commercial pilots revealed to him instances where UFOs approached them and then would "just zoom away at incredible speeds," Goldwater regretted his inability to examine UFO research files at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. "I asked Gen. Curtis LeMay, who for years was head of the Strategic Air Command, for permission to check into the files and he told me: 'Hell no, and don't ask me again.' I think some highly secret government UFO investigations are going on that we don't know about -- and probably never will unless the Air Force discloses them.

"But someday soon," advised Goldwater, "someone's going to have strong UFO evidence that can't be explained away."

And so we wait. Meanwhile, Sen. Goldwater, Richard Hall, Dr. J. Allen Hynek, Dr. John Mack, Dr. James McDonald and a host of others who explored pathways to the unknown are gone. Too bad that the passage of time can't confine itself to the face of a clock and not intrude upon our brief flirtations with life and curiosity.

(Thanks to playwright Ed Graczyk for naming his play -- eventually a movie -- "Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean," which I knew of but never saw, and went bonkers over when I needed a title for today's entry.)

Reading that the intelligence agencies were interested in her was an eye-opener. I'll tell what I know of that story near the end of this entry. As a lead-in to that, let's look a bit more at what she was doing in the secular world prior to coming to the attention of the military.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in England in the later 1930's, Eileen Garrett was in full bloom as far as reputation was concerned. She was invited for psychic sittings, either as the prime medium or as an observer. A prominent researcher, who was mentioned in an earlier post, Nandor Fodor, was involved in a sticky haunting case. This incident, "The Ash Manor Poltergeist", has been written up by Fodor in his book, The Haunted Mind. You can read the whole thing there. It involves, apparently, a "spirit" which may be more the repressed anger of a confused husband in an unhappy marriage [mostly of his own doing] and many phenomenological manifestations, including a temporary "laying" of the "ghost", which was briefly successful. Eileen Garrett was asked by Fodor to help with the situation and did so. Rather than go over the actions taken by Garrett and Fodor to ultimately succeed [and it was not a dead simple thing], I have brought this incident up to provide a reason to give you these following quotes from Eileen's "control spirit" named Uvani. [she, by the way debated her whole life as to what the nature of "Uvani" might be]. Uvani, whether a separate spirit or a spiritual facet of herself, said this at one point in the assessment of the Ash Manor difficulties: "You will not mind if I say that where there is unhappiness in a house and there is an impression of someone [i.e. a departed spirit] coming back, it is because you make for that spirit a Garden of Memory in which it can live and revive its sufferings. Unless you are, consciously or unconsciously, in a state of mind in which this impression can vivify itself, you will not be troubled. Haven't you discovered that these things only happen to you when you are in a bad emotional state, physically or mentally disturbed? Don't you realize that you yourself vivify this memory?" Here Eileen has given the theory for the poltergeist phenomenon, and perhaps the only such theory based on "inside" information. Poltergeist/haunted places are locations where the former spirit had intense unhappiness or some other serious unfulfillment. This disharmony or incompleteness "impresses upon" the environment its nature. When that environment is later occupied by a consciousness which is in its own way disturbed, this enlivens the impressed environment, empowering either the "lost spirit" itself or some fundamental not-rightness in the place to cause paranormal lashings-out. Later theorists like Roll set forward a theory that young people going through confusions and unhappinesses at puberty were the living causes of poltergeists, but I will stick with Eileen Garrett on this and say that the Unconscious Psychokinesis theory has, at best, got it only half right. Describing the Ash Manor environment as a "frame", Uvani said later in the session: "Isn't there a picture that belongs in the original frame? Life [one suspects she means spiritual life] cannot die. You can explode its dynamism [the physical body] but you cannot dissipate its energy. If you suffer where life suffered, the essence that once filled the frame will take from you something to dramatize and live again." Esoteric thoughts, yes. Maybe even correct.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the earliest stages of WW2, Eileen found herself trapped by the war on the continent. She got out on a refugee boat heading for America. There she made contacts with parapsychological friends and so did not suffer too badly from the dislocation. She became a US citizen in 1947. The following year, a former Lieutenant in the Army, Andrija [then going by Henry] Puharich, set up a technological laboratory to test psychic subjects. This was called the Round Table Foundation Laboratory of Experimental Electrobiology [Glen Cove, Maine]. Where the funding really came from is unknown by me, but Puharich had highly placed political contacts such as former vice-president Henry Wallace, as well as military personnel interested in psychological warfare. Fairly early in these experiments, Puharich asked Eileen Garrett if she wanted to participate in some testing [it is easily possible that she knew nothing of any spooky government involvement, as her whole life was saying yes to the next interesting tests.] Puharich ran tests on her [these things were with the subjects in a "Faraday Cage" to completely dampen out "electromagnetic noise"] and a few other psychics. I learned about these things, which seem to have only vague hints about them among the parapsychological community [including in both Garrett's and Puharich's own books] , through an accident of UFOlogical research. While attempting to help Don Schmitt and Kevin Randle with their Roswell research, I, and two friends, located the original head of Wright-Patterson AFB's Intelligence Division [Howard McCoy]'s remaining papers, and in them was a copy of the core information about these tests--which you may see a bit of on the collage above--it is the most interesting bit; I'm not holding back on you. The military was interested in whether they could use psychics to probe enemy secrets "at-a-distance", how to maximize effectiveness, and perhaps how to block the bad guys' psychics. Chief-of-WR-PAT Intelligence McCoy [during his next assignment in the Pentagon] had this study in his files. Obviously they were taking it seriously. This is almost certainly the start of the famous CIA remote viewing "black project" done in the 1960s to test the same thing. But it stayed secret all those years--even my friend Hal Puthoff who was a primary operator of the CIA tests was unaware of these early Garrett results. And look at the {admittedly hard to read} conclusions that I've clipped for you in the collage. Some of those words are mind-blowing. Not only is the veridicality of the phenomenon stressed but Puharich claims that some forms of "time distortion" are indicated by the results. This pushes my Cosmos really hard, and I'd have to see just what the data says and whether Eileen had anything to do with that part of the results.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, folks, my mind's probably well past breaking point [and I wish I could give you this sort of inside information all the time, but I'm not smart enough, and we'll have to put up with more pedestrian stuff in future], so I'll leave our Girl-Who-Can-See-Around-Corners with this last quote: "Through the years of my trance communications and research, two control personalities ... have always been identified with my work, and they have never ceased to maintain their independent and separate selves. It is interesting to note that they have always welcomed every form of scientific investigation into the nature of their own being and the mechanisms of my supernormal functioning; but up to the present any efforts to dislodge them or to reduce them to aspects of my own consciousness have led to no change in their attitude, position, or state of being. The control personalities still maintain the roles they have always played in relation to me, since my trance work began. I have reached a point in my development where I can live in harmony with myself and at peace with those personalities, for I am now able to regard them as the finer aspects of my true self. Whatever their origin may be, I do not, at present, have at my command the means of knowing; but for the time being, I am content to accept the controls as aspects of a constructive principle upon which my entire life has been built". Eileen Garrett passed upwards through the Light Tunnel in 1970. She probably knows it all now.

Will wonders never cease? Dom Armentano finally got a UFO piece picked up by the mainstream press — and in the Orange County Register, no less.

Over the weekend, the Vero Beach rez reviewed the latest photo analysis of a puzzling UFO sequence snapped over southern California in 1965 by highway maintenance engineer Rex Heflin. Skeptics and advocates have long squabbled over the merits of the Heflin pix, but the most recent research suggests the pictures reflect an authentic mystery.

On the controversy scale, the Heflin photos are mid-range, and Armentano’s careful approach is anything but sensationalist. What makes publication noteworthy is how the PhD economist had to endure so much crap just to bring something this mild into the MSM domain.

In January 2008, Armentano got canned without warning as an adjunct scholar with the libertarian Cato Institute for advocating government transparency and accountability on the UFO issue in a Vero Beach Press-Journal guest column. The move was so visceral and immediate it was as if he’d gotten fired for issuing a racial epithet.

Armentano, professor emeritus in economics from the University of Hartford, was informed by Cato’s knee-jerk executive VP David Boaz that his editorial position was “not an issue that we want to have as part of Cato’s research agenda.” Even though libertarians tout the virtues of an unregulated marketplace of ideas. Even though Armentano never advocated such an initiative for Cato. Even though Armentano never mentioned his affiliation with Cato.

This summer, in response to a Christian Science Monitor opinion piece alluding to the 1947 Roswell Incident as a hoax, Armentano — who had an unrelated antitrust-themed op-ed published by the Monitor in May — approached the paper about a rebuttal. Without even reading his essay, the editor rejected the proposal by stating the issue “simply didn’t rise to a sufficient level of public salience and/or newsworthiness.”

So on Saturday, look who actually ran with Armentano’s latest — the OCR, a property of Freedom Communications, Inc., out of Santa Ana, Calif. The Register has a long and consistent track record for espousing libertarian positions on its editorial pages.

But as Armentano told De Void, “I think we got the right venue with them. The photos were taken in Orange County, so this (article) might not have gone anywhere else. It may have been just a lucky hit.”

That’s probably true. And it did hit the Web on — ahem — Halloween. So De Void will retract an initial impulse to give the Register a medal for doing its job, and make a simple pitch for the future: Keep it up.

I was opening the refrigerator when I heard what I though was a plane.

At first I thought nothing of it since our house is in the flight path of a nearby small airport. The sound got so loud it seemed as if a plane was going to crash into my house or a rocket was blasting off, which caused me to look out my back door.

When I looked outside there was a large disc shaped object, which lit up as I stared in horror. I stared at the object in shock for about 10 seconds, and the ran to my parents room, screaming about what I saw.

It was so surreal, like something from a movie.

The craft appeared to be a dark metallic object, not silver more like black.
Can A Nice Irish Girl Speak With The Spirits?

This is a harder than usual post, for me anyway. The general subject seems rife with bunk, baloney, and unhelpful charlatanry. Because of the load of that kind of stuff, and because I don't have a "comfortable" theoretical/theological "fit" for this phenomenon, I have to go into this wondering if this is possibly true or a mess of dingoes kidneys. Still, there is Eileen Garrett.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A lot of brainy people have been interested in whether some persons can serve as contact points for communication with a reality which seems spiritual at least in some not yet certainly identifiable way. Why wouldn't you be? Heavyweight scientists like Crookes, Lodge, Flammarion [and many others] felt that it was worth pursuing in an orderly manner. [There is NO question why these scientists were investigating this. They, just like the rest of us should, had strong intuitions that an Ontology which had no room for the spiritual was incomplete, if not ultimately sterile--this is in all their writings on the topic]. They were however not fools. They knew that fakers existed en masse, especially the "physical" mediums who claimed to be able to "apport" objects into a seance room from some distant spot, or even "materialize" them out of...what?..."ectoplasm". I am not sure that there was one physical claimant that ever tested in a credible way. But this historical background makes a difference in my approach to the "communications" mediumship of Eileen Garrett. She, unlike almost any other claimant, spent her whole life trying to find out what was going on with her. She was astonishingly "available" for testing in any responsible and "scientific" way. Her attitude was that she did not know exactly what was going on in these matters, but that something surely was. She has convinced me of that as well.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A thumbnail of her life: She was born in Ireland in 1893. It was not a good life. Parents died young. Godparents [relatives] didn't treat her well. Some of the latter was due to the early hints of her psychic nature, which they wished repressed. Unsurprisingly, Eileen was a child with "invisible companions" [the modern term "imaginary friends" is prejudicial against the possible reality of this sort of entity, and I see the term as another element of our off-base culture trying to reduce everything to a despiritualized materialism. The nature of this phenomenon is not obvious, and should be left as an open question]. Eileen had these "companions" till she was thirteen. She married early and it was the first of three tragic unions. Nevertheless, it is a testament to her basic goodness that during WW1, as a young woman, she ran a hostel for wounded soldiers [sometimes having dreams about those who returned to the fight, that they had died in battle--dreams that when later facts were available, turned out to be veridical]. In 1919, a British writer convinced her that she should try to develop her wild talent and she began to work with people who allegedly at least knew more about this. She attended a "sitting" with the [possibly authentic] spirit medium, Stella Cranshaw, felt that some real things were going on there, and met the original "ghost hunter", Harry Price. Price was an enthusiast but not a complete fool and he tried to have some standards in his research. He was immediately impressed with Eileen. Being impressed turned to mind-boggling gob-smacked when he asked her to participate in a session [aimed at contacting A.Conan Doyle] in 1930. This didn't go as planned. It is known as the R101 reading.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know if, when you "pop" your mouse on the page illustrations that accompany this part of the post, you'll be able to read the print, but I can at least tell you what it is. These are the pages from the Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research [1931] in which Price communicates, as a "foreign correspondent" what went on at the session. Much of the exact words of the transcript are here---so that you can read them [hopefully] for yourself and make up your own mind.

Eileen began the session trying to do what the agenda was all about [contact Doyle] and may or may not have been marginally successful. But a personality broke in and took over. This entity claimed to have been a crew member of a dirigible which had just exploded and was destroyed in spectacular fireworks. This event had happened only a couple of days previously. The incident had been reported fairly thoroughly in the press, so simply knowing some facts would hardly constitute evidence that Eileen was getting this information from an esoteric source. But the information that "she" communicated was not at all easy to wave away by saying that she was just repeating newspaper data. [as I say, I hope that you can read the pages, so you can see why on several points, Price and others were impressed]. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Newspapers picked up the story of the psychic who "saw" the inside story of the R101 disaster and Price was suddenly famous as was Eileen Garrett. Shortly, she was asked to come to the United States, by the American Society for Psychical Research, and engage in more testing--which she welcomed. She went to Duke University, and the legendary Dr. William McDougall, and met other famous characters like Hereward Carrington. after her tour, Eileen returned to England, continuing her exploration of this phenomenon which gripped her. In 1939 she participated in a second famous incident of genuine note: the Ash Manor Haunt---I'll talk about this, and her testing by the US intelligence community [I kid you not] tomorrow or the next day. But today, I'll end with a quote from her which obviously resonates with me: "Slowly but surely society has eroded our content with our inner selves until we are bereft of our spiritual values, a fact which causes us to live in timidity and fear. The exercise of those perceptions--of which telepathy is one--can bring us to that closer understanding of our great responsibility to ourselves and to the new world to come...We must never again lose sight of the fact that within us we have the creative structure by which we can build a new world".

English language editing: Martin Shough

PUBLICATIONS BY THE AUTHOR
Papers, articles and research reports by Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos, just published or reedited.

The present edition of the FOTOCAT Project’s Blog is to announce the publication of the paper STATE-OF-THE-ART IN UFO DISCLOSURE WORLDWIDE, by Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos.

This is the first synthesis or synopsis ever done of the status of declassification or release of official UFO archives by every Government in the world, accurately updated to May 2009.

In this context by “UFO disclosure” I mean the revelation, declassification or release of official UFO reports from governmental files, placed in the public domain either directly or via the news media, researchers, and UFO organizations.

It is true that the term “disclosure” has been lately associated to a certain movement which is not really grounded in reality, but I want to reclaim possession of this word for use in rational discourse.

With the publication of this essay, I plan to achieve several objectives; firstly, I would like to provide a compilation of historical data that illuminates a generally obscure subject. Then, I hope it will generate feedback to expand this table and improve its accuracy. Also, government officials may be inspired to commence similar release processes in their countries.

Finally, I wish to share with you the kind words that Dr. Jacques Vallee has written to preface the announcement of the release of the present paper:
The field of aerial phenomena research has long been plagued by half-truths and poor information. The media have contributed to this misinformation either by ignoring important facts or by trumpeting the "release of secret files" that were never secret in the first place.

It is refreshing to see a complete statement of the state of official information on an international scale. This is a "work in progress," since many files that remain in the custody of military authorities in major countries have yet to be brought to light, but Sr. Ballester-Olmos has patiently assembled a document that provides an important baseline for future research.

With no further delay, this paper is freely available at:
http://www.anomalia.org/disclosure.pdf

CALL FOR ASSISTANCE
Your volunteer collaboration with the FOTOCAT Project is requested. Please write to: fotocat@anomalia.org

We will happily supply with state, regional, provincial or national catalogues to any active researcher for checking and expanding purposes.

If you are willing to donate photographic materials, case files or literature to be preserved for posterity, feel free to use the following postal address:
Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos
Apartado de Correos 12140
46080 Valencia
Spain

PUBLICACIONES PROPIAS

http://www.anomalia.org/estdesclas.pdf

Full Disclosure and UFOs

According to a new report circulating on the Internet, full disclosure about UFOs is at hand. On November 27, 2009, President Barack Obama will tell the world all that the United States knows about UFOs. Many believe that this means he will tell the world that alien spacecraft have been visiting Earth for decades, if not centuries or longer.
Why don’t I believe this?

Because such rumors have been reported before. Many times before. Although such a possible disclosure might have been announced earlier, it seems that one of the first, if not first rumors about disclosure came with the release, in 1951, of The Day the Earth Stood Still (please note here I’m referring to the 1951 classic and not the recent remake). The idea was that the movie was the first step in telling the public about flying saucers. It presented a benevolent space traveler here to warn us about our warlike ways.

Of course there was no disclosure.

Another suggested attempt was the Air Force sponsored scientific study of UFOs at the University of Colorado, also known as the Condon Committee. Some speculated that full disclosure would come at the end of the study. Those poor, misguided people didn’t know that the whole thing was a set up with a goal of getting the Air Force out of the UFO investigation business. At the end, there was no disclosure, just the closure of the Air Force project to investigate them.

There was another supposed event, this one apparently coordinated around the country with UFO researchers told to be available to the local media to answer questions about the alien visitors.

Of course there was no disclosure.

But a history of false rumors (can there be a true rumor?) doesn’t mean this latest attempt will be the same as all those others. According to Dave Wilcox, he heard from Bill Ryan of Project Camelot that this would happen on November 27. But he cautioned that too much advance publicity would kill the announcement.

In other words, the prediction that there will be disclosure has been superceded by another prediction about why it won’t happen. Now, when November 27 passes without a word from the White House or the President, all those who claimed there would be disclosure can tell us that all our talking about it scuttled the announcement. It’s our fault for mentioning any of this in a public place. Nothing like being able to have it both ways.

There will be no announcement on November 27. I don’t know how these rumors get started, but once they do, many jump on the bandwagon. In the end, it just makes everyone look silly because we’re all lumped together with no gradations in what we accept as true and what we know to be false.

When November 27 comes and passes without the announcement, remember, I told you so about a month earlier.

Letter From James Gilliland of ECETI

[ECETI News] ECETI Resignation to the UFO Community

Before we begin I would like to express this letter is not to the people of integrity which are far and few between in the UFO community. They will understand and completely agree with what I am about to say. This letter is to all the conference boards, talk show hosts and others within the community who continue to deal with half truths and perpetuate the dark threatening agendas concerning our off world visitors totally ignoring the fact that the majority of off worlders are very spiritually and technologically advanced as well as benevolent.

The fear and suspense along with other hidden agendas via disinformation agents has so infiltrated ufology that the higher truth has been virtually pushed out. The ufo community has become the very conspiracy and censors of truth they set out in the beginning to expose. It has become a plethora of disinformation, misinformation, and massive egos wanting to be messiahs each thinking they have the big picture when all they have is a small piece of the pie. The field has become so corrupted, convoluted, and whacked out the real contactees and the bigger picture with positive contacts really have little or no forum to express. They are eventually squeezed out especially when it comes to women. Women who do not agree with the dark foreboding agendas of many exmilitary or top government officials who either see everything as a threat due to preprogramming or are there to support the war industry which needs a new threat to continue its massive budget.

The vast majority of off worlders which includes those coming from the higher dimensions are benevolent so why is the vast majority of the conferences and radio show programming focused on the negative regenerate side? Why is the negative, regenerate side given all the air and podium time which is completely disproportionate to reality? Personally I believe the majority of the ufo community has become so convoluted and riddled with disinformation along with those sitting on boards who perpetuate the mis and disinformation with NWO connections not to mention the material driven circus there is no way any off world visitor would have anything to do with it. As a venue for truth it is unsalvageable.

This is why I have no more desire to operate or involve myself further with these groups. I will continue as a spokesman for contact with benevolent off world visitors through other venues. I will also continue to hold our own conferences and invite those on the cutting edge who are working towards the advancement or awakening and healing of humanity and the Earth. The Self Mastery and Kunlun classes will continue as well. With the regular appearances of the UFOs here at ECETI and the appearances of grand masters which have been photographed one would think there would be a strong interest and desire to promote the ongoing outrageous events happening at the ECETI Ranch. One would think with UFOs buzzing TV reporters and thousands of eyewitnesses with PHDs in every field, pilots, air traffic controllers etc. there would be a strong interest in the ranch yet in fact it is entirely the opposite going as far as suppressing or ignoring the events altogether by major conference organizers and talk show hosts.

The number one question when people come here and see the ships, experience the higher consciousness and energy experiencing spontaneous healings and incredible awakenings is why is this not getting out to others. Why is the spiritual and ufo community not jumping all over this. My only answer is ask them what they are afraid of. Why do they have so much resistance to the truth and what is it in them that is threatened? They have become wrong they set out to right. Twenty three million people watched the trailer to the movie Contact Has Begun, His Story with James Gilliland and now it is on Net Flicks. Robbie Williams the UK pop star and other UK stars have come to the ranch. The Latin countries are blasting the contacts and sightings here all over their media and four ships came in all at once at the last Science,
Spirit and World Transformation conference filmed by the speakers along with a field full of people. It is blasted all over youtube. Fox News just did a real positive piece and this Thursday Koin 6 will air their report where a ufo buzzed the reporter at ECETI and powered up right over his head. Despite the ufo community the truth is flowing like a river but not through their venue. It is time for people to do their own research and look into those in the ufo community who have maintained their integrity in a search for truth. Those that continue to keep you looking in the past, painting dark foreboding fearful agendas without addressing the benevolent side of contact are doing a grave injustice to the people, the off worlders, and the possibility of a quantum leap in evolution. To me this is not a service to humanity but in some cases an extreme disservice which is why I will no longer seek these venues to serve humanity or the greater family of man.

You have my permission to copy and send this far and wide.

James Gilliland
www.eceti.org

The great thing about Halloween-month television programming is there’s so much wonderful cheese to choose from: classic horror flicks, pseudo documentaries, even standup blow-drys reporting on seasonal freak shows.

Last night’s prime-time dilemma was between a two-hour Animal Planet werewolf documdrama, or The History Channel’s third-season four-hour marathon premiere of “UFO Hunters.” A year ago, it would’ve been no contest. But after UFO Magazine publisher and “UFO Hunters” host Bill Birne got scammed earlier this year by a stupid hoax, this was a real tossup.

After New Jersey police and even a few eyewitnesses correctly identified the balloon-flare stunt for what it was, Birnes blundered into the controversy with his own team’s analysis: “Police say the unidentified flying object was nothing more than flares — a theory that UFO Hunters has already tested and proven implausible.”

Preening hoaxsters Joe Rudy and Chris Russo were so pleased with themselves, they announced what they’d done on April Fool’s day — and were promptly sentenced to community service and $250 fines for creating a disturbance. Birnes’ lame defense was that he never said the flares were a UFO.

So anyhow, De Void initially erred on the side of The History Channel, where “UFO Hunters” decided to open with a “Men In Black” episode. Among its first UFO/MIB eyewitness was one Johnny Sands, who had a Lon Chaney, Jr., thing going on with the preternaturally dark and swept-back coif as he recounted his Sixties-era encounter with a sinister buttoned-down weirdo who “had very, very glaring eyes.”

From that point on, the “UFO Hunters” were off and running, kicking up clouds of dust in ATVs and SUVs and bicycles as they sought encounters with UFOs, MIBs, MPs and cattle mutilations from California to Utah. In fact, the show was dramatic enough to hold its own with AP’s fauxdoc “Werewolves: The Dark Survivors.” Pooling their talents to solve human and cattle mutilations, a homicide detective and a zoologist braved the wilds of Michigan to discover the truth about the rabies-like virus responsible for so much maniacal havoc.

Some purists at werewolf-news.com weren’t crazy about the treatment (“I find it disappointing that people living with werewolf syndrome in reality have to deal with ignorance of this program instead of taking the opportunity to define what werewolf syndrome truly is,” wrote one. “I felt animal planet truly did a disservice to the public and to people with hypertrichosis”).

On the other hand, if we’re talking special effects, when it comes to recreating “very, very glaring eyes,” the “Dark Survivors” beat “UFO Hunters” hands down.

Edge: “Werewolves: The Dark Survivors.”

The universe got even more crowded last week with an announcement in Portugal that an additional 32 planets have been identified outside our solar system. The latest dragnet covered a five-year time span and was documented by a research team with the European Southern Observatory in La Silla, Chile.

If astronomer Stephane Udry is right — “Nature doesn’t like a vacuum, so if there is space to put a planet, it will put the planet there” — the crush of numbers is just beginning. According to the Extrasolar Planets Encyclopedia, 403 planets already inhabit the known universe. If UFOs are from Out There, they’re probably not from any of those 403 catalogued hellholes, all described as too wasted and brutal to sustain the sort of carbon-based life forms we’d recognize.

Inevitably, with an assist from the likes of NASA’s Kepler telescope and the French CoRoT optics — both space based — Earth-sized planets will pop up in due course. So now’s the time to start figuring out how to make $$$ from our cosmic brethren.

At this moment — and it could change any time — the weirdest planet in the universe is called WASP-17, named for the Wide Area Search for Planets acronym of the collaborating British universities who announced its existence in August. Located about a thousand light years from Earth, WASP-17 is a gas giant twice the size of Jupiter. Distinction: It moves backwards, in the opposite direction of its sun’s rotation, a phenomenon known as a retrograde orbit. The tenuous concensus is that WASP-17 is heading the wrong way due to a collision with another object.

WASP-17 is too horrible to support our kind of folks, but don’t bet against our finding a few Earth-sized planets in retrograde orbits somewhere out there. Maybe they’ll be spinning backwards on their axes, too.

But you’re ahead of me here, right? An Earthly planet spinning backwards? Backwards in time? The longer you stay there, the younger you get? But don’t get too comfortable or you’ll turn into Benjamin Button’s fetus?

Oh yeah, book those reservations, baby — the aroma of money’s already dripping like barbecued pig fat into the blazing spit. Get the people who marketed derivatives and subprime loans and trickle-down economics to Americans to arrange the non-refundable cash-only packages. We’ll find out if it works once we get there.

Tis the Season: All Hallows Eve

This is something that you probably already know all about, but I find it interesting and even a bit Spiritual in nature. So, what-the-heck let's give it a try.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our Halloween is of course a weird mixture of many things, but is based mostly on the Olde "cross-calendar" feast of Samhuinn. The "Celtic Calendar" cross feasts of Samhuinn, Belteinne, Lughnasadh, and Imbolc were at least as important as the Solstices and Equinoxes. This feast which is upon us, was originally the greater part of a month long, and celebrated the end of the harvest [the original thanksgiving for the bounty of the Earth goddess] and the bringing down of the sheep and cattle to their barns. The fairies were about to unleash their cold breath over the plants and the land so that the old would die to prepare the Earth for the new to come. People today see this feast as a Druid-thing and to some degree it probably was. But the Druids certainly just incorporated the Olde Nature Religion of the people into more formalized rituals. One prominent place for this was Tara, the sacred precinct of the Irish kings. Each year on Samhuinn they and their Druids oversaw the ceremony of the extinguishing of the Fire [all hearth fires were supposed to be snuffed and re-lit from a bondfire created out of offerings to the male god who impregnated the Earth goddess so she brought forth such bounty--the fires were then re-lit by carrying fire house-to-house]. The ceremony of the Fire was widespread and led to people reveling in jumping through the fire for whatever spiritual or wild-craziness motivated them to do so. The Church naturally saw this as a bad thing [probably without thinking about it much, it was "pagan" afterall] and forbad it. Unless some bishop happened to be around, everyone seems to have continued to do it anyway. As a Catholic, I applaud their "disobedience" in this as long as they didn't hurt themselves. The bottomline is that Olde Samhuinn is/was a Fire festival, a fertility/harvest festival, and an acknowledgement that tough cold times were coming.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What/Who exactly was being noted as central to their concerns was the "Male Principle" god--the "Horned god" and yes that's where the expression comes from. Just remember Mother Earth Nature was equally interested in their intimacies as well. But the horned god had a limited run on the planet surface and each year at Samhuinn had to impregnate the Earth Mother [that part of it he probably thought was OK ], and then go to hell--well, the "Netherworld" anyway. As against charges that he was just another guy who "loved them and left them", he probably would defend himself by noting that Hell was no plush assignment and anyway he had no choice in the matter. The point for Samhuinn was that this removal of the "Male Principle" god opened the doors to the Netherworld for a while, and the spirits of the dead were more available to communicate with the living. This led in places to the family ritual of the "dumb supper", where places were set at table for recently deceased ancestors, and living family would spend the meal telling memories of them. It was also a time when it was unusually dangerous to be outside at night, as the gods and the fairies were "nearer" then and not in particularly friendly moods. So, all sorts of wild-and woolies might be out-and-about on those nights.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is not certain just how our modern mutation of Samhuinn began--that of everyone dressing up in costumes. Some think that the "custom" was a stick-on from the Roman "Let's-get-down-and-crazy-festival" called Saturnalia. Since Halloween survived as an echo of Pagan times when essentially nothing else did, it seems our disobedient resistance glued many things together to shove it at constricted Victorianism--and that included taking on other personas in order to free up our naughtiness. Well, I've seen college Halloween parties and Saturn had nothing on them. Another glue-on that had an easy link has been the lighted Pumpkin. There's a charming folktale, quite late in time, which describes how a lazy, misbehaving bum so continuously outsmarts the Devil that He won't even let him into Hell. St. Peter won't let him in either. The Devil gives him a lantern by which he plods the dark forever--Jack-O'Lantern. Pumpkins were carved allegedly to commemorate the story---Well, it has to be more complicated than that as, in Europe, where there were no Pumpkins, they carved little faces into "turnips" [almost had to be Rutabagas] and put lights in them. Some think this was in honor of the Sun [Who was in full retreat at Samhuinn and was associated with the "Male Principle"]. Jack-O"Lantern then became used for Will-o-the-Wisp and pixy mischief makers, who you did well to avoid on Samhuinn. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As important as Samhuinn was on the Celtic calendar, I am surprised that there is almost no mention of "Samhuinn lines" in the archaeoastronomy literature about British megaliths. In fact, I'm SO surpised by this that I HAVE to be wrong, and, as usual, this is just another ignorance on my part. Still, the only specific reference to a Samhuinn orientation in a megalith that has come across my eyeballs is the one at Castlerigg [a picture of which is on the very first blog, due to some mysterious, doubtless elf-associated, influence]. A very prominent stone circle [not in size but in significance] is at Boscawen-un in Cornwall. As far back as folk memory goes it has been a main site of celebratory Druidical activities. It is a flattened circle with a bulge giving it a symmetry plane down the middle and a major axis of sorts at right angles to this plane. The direction of that axis looks suspiciously like it points to a Samhuinn sunrise, but I'm not there with a surveyor and compass. It's a wild guess, but what else is life about?----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These circles were [by some "wilder-than-me" theorists], set up to REALLY give you a good celebratory time. They see the circles as being able to concentrate "Earth energy" sort of like a "Psychic condenser" and store it for potential tapping by "Druids-in-the-know". The energies were fed into the circles by nearby erect standing stones. NOTE: the following is X-rated. The erect stones were the "Male Principle" at work and, yes, the phallus shape is deliberate. The circle is the "Female Principle" and takes this energy from the male and makes something out of it. What it makes is an environment "pregnant" with psychic power. This is why the circles were the sites of wild dancing. {Stonehenge was called the Giant's Dance}. A troop of Druids or a Coven would do the serpent or dragon's dance, weaving and interleaving through the stones, activating the powers stored within until they achieved some altered state of consciousness, perhaps communicating with Spirits and the Dead. These energies were only available at certain times of the calendar---Samhuinn? Well, we can't have any of THAT behavior! [actually it might be a bit dangerous if you "called up" the wrong dude, and if Ouija is correct, there are plenty--so, I guess it's no serpent-dancing for me].---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that's my partial trip through the mysteries of Samhuinn--hope it was at least a bit entertaining even if not very illuminating. Above are three more circles where I think there might be dedicated sun-lines for Samhuinn. The top left one, the Merry Maidens in Cornwall, is even about a bunch of disobedient young ladies who danced the stones on the Sabbath, and were turned to stone themselves. Not very nice, I think, and my GOD sure wouldn't do that. I'm betting on the Devil or Jack-O'Lantern. By the way, this post turns out to be about UFOs after all. Just think of it: "Swamp Gas"= "Jack-O"Lantern"="fairy BOL mischief"--Hynek was right about his explanation for Dexter/Hillsdale afterall!!!! [by accident]. Now THAT's a theory weird enough to go straight on to the internet!.... Oh, wait, I just did. Have fun folks, and don't let Black Shuck or the Cat Sidhe get you.
.

Three months have passed since Larry Klayman vowed legal action against various government agencies suspected of concealing UFO data. But no updates on his Freedom Watch USA Web site since then, and messages for clarification have gone unreturned.

In his July interview with De Void, the Clinton harasser extraordinaire said he doubted the feds would ever open the books on this longstanding enigma, as advocated by Obama transition team leader John Podesta. Klayman aimed to lower the bar by simply ending Project Blue Book’s rote fiction about U.S. defense and intelligence networks being disinterested by UFOs. He wanted government officials to admit the obvious, on the record, that the phenomenon constitutes a national security matter. A summary judgement would suffice.

As more foreign governments continue to authenticate the extraordinary capabilities of UFOs, America’s rigid denial is beginning to look increasingly Flat Earth-like. The latest challenge comes from Brazil.

In late September, in compliance with its own version of the Freedom of Information Act, Brazil’s military declassified another bundle of UFO documents. And a few weeks back, it relinquished one of the most impressively detailed accounts yet. With English translations supplied by A.J. Gavaerd, editor of Brazilian UFO Magazine, the eight-page document was produced by its Ministry of Aeronautics Air Command of Air Defense on 6/2/86.

Attributed to Air Brigadier Jose Pessoa Cavalcanti de Albuquerque, commander of the Brazilian Air Command of Air Defense, this was a review of what happened on the evening of 5/19/86, when the nation’s skies were jammed with UFO activity. Jet fighters were scrambled, only to be easily outmaneuvered, even toyed with, as their targets made their pursuers look hopelessly antiquated.

Given America’s official stance on this issue, De Albuquerque’s final statement would be a career-ender if it had been authored by any contemporary U.S. counterpart: “As a conclusion of the observed constant facts in almost all presentations, it is the opinion of this Command that the phenomenon is solid and reflects intelligence by its capacity to follow and sustain distance from the observers, as well as to fly in formation, and are not necessarily manned craft.”

If Larry Klayman or anybody else could wring even this sort of modest admission from the top Pentagon brass, the seas would part and the sun would rise in the west and whales would fly. Because it would mean the U.S. had made a passage into the 21st century.
