Nearly 6 months ago, on the day of the August, 2017, solar eclipse, I launched a project to publish the third book in the Symbolic Lodge series, The Master Mason. And, (almost) to the date of the January, 2018, lunar eclipse, that book went out to its backers and is available now to the public.

The Master Mason, our third step in becoming a Freemason, is out now.

The blurb for the book reads:
Third, in the journey of the Symbolic Lodge, The Master Mason is a formal exploration of the symbolism and allegory at work in the third degree of Freemasonry. Through that lens, this work seeks to find the hidden esoteric connections and their connections with the centuries-old ritual that crowns the process of becoming a Freemason. As with its predecessors, The Apprentice and Fellow of the Craft, this work seeks to find parallel with its esoteric siblings, the Golden Dawn, Thelema, numerology, tarot, the Kabbalah and other arcane and occult traditions.
The Master Mason is a work that strives to understand the process of becoming a Freemason.
As many traditions hold the keys to achieve a degree of perfection, within the Masonic tradition we are shown this path through the becoming of a master. Truly, this degree opens as a mystery, and concludes on another, illuminating a path towards perfection and purpose.

You can find the book online at Amazon and other select sellers. Focusing on the nuances of the degree, the Master Mason ritual is an enigma of sorts in that it’s telling follows a divergent path from its predecessors. It is because of this difference that those who undergo it’s rites experience something new in their becoming a master. As with the earlier works, The Master Mason delves further upon the Kabbalistic Tree of Life taking the necessary detours to explore the symbolism and history of the ritual.

Of the many emblems of Freemasonry, none is more iconic that the lambskin apron. Alien outside of the lodge, under the tiled lodge it represents the totality of what it means to be a Mason. It’s said to be more noble than the Roman Eagle or the Golden Fleece, the Masonic apron is literally, the badge of a mason carried with him into the next existence.

The first rung in the theological ladder, Faith in Freemasonry is defined as "the evidence of things not seen." No less important than Hope and Charity, Faith is one of the first essential qualities essential to the qualification of a candidate.
Why Does Freemasonry Use Odd Symbols? Part 7 in the What is Freemasonry, series.

Skulls, architectural tools, mallets, aprons... all of these weird things, why does Freemasonry use so many odd symbols? This question is at the heart of many detractors who like to speculate on their nefarious meanings. Let's find out by examining a few in this video.

What is Freemasonry? Part 6 - Why is Freemasonry a Ritual Practice? What makes something a “ritual?” Is it an evil connotation? Something sinister? Why then is Freemasonry considered a ritual practice? How could something so full of moral virtues practice something ritualistic?

So we wondered, why is Freemasonry considered a Ritual Practice?

What is Freemasonry? - Part 4 - Is Freemasonry a Patriotic Body? A common connotation of Freemasonry is that it is a patriotic organization. While it suggests certain attributes of patriotism, the multi-national spread of the fraternity would suggest something other than a direct form of nationalistic adherence.

At last, the little project is complete.
After months (and years) of conceiving, studying, plotting, writing and then assembling my little endeavor into the Great Work has come into the world.

I humbly submit to you my work:

This follow up book to my 2010 project Masonic Traveler - Essays and Commentary is a different approach to understanding the importance and meaning behind the First Degree of Freemasonry.

Taking the approach from the Scottish (French) Rite degrees, this work explores the nuance of symbolic initiation lost in the contemporary system at work in much of the main-stream practice. By using the Scottish Rite First Degree, the meaning and process of the masonic initiation takes on new dimensions why compared to Albert Pike's First Degree treatise in Morals and Dogma. It is that dimension that this work seeks to explore celebrating the art and history behind the initiation process.

The idea behind this work is that the degree, whether intentional or as a byproduct of revision and deconstruction, is a metaphorical entry point onto the Tree of Life from the mystical tradition of the Kabbalah. That, the first degree, when examined next to the works of other esoteric writers, becomes the foundation degree of initiation as it blossoms into a rich allegorical journey from chaos into order.

While not a tell-all expose into Freemasonry, the work, at a deeper level, is an attempt to understand what it means to BECOME a Freemason.

In this work are:

Two never before seen original poems by the author

Original Art envisioning the meaning of the initiation

Three explorations of the work

Notes to support the thesis

An interesting note, all aspects of the book from its creators hand. Not a pain stream or commercially published work, its creation is with an artisanal work as the product of a loving devotion to the medium and subject matter. Also interesting about the book is that this work is the first of three to round out three ineffable degrees of the fraternity taking us ever higher into the allegorical tree of life.

And, with this announcement I want to publicly thank those who invested in the work through Kickstarter. So, a big round of thinks to:
A deadline is necessary, some kind of artificial starting point for when to begin an undertaking such as this. What that deadline will entail, or accomplish will be formulated now.

After several suggestions and communications, it seems to me that it is possible for an organization such as this to exist, and by the nature of its existence, communicate the ethos it holds as true.

So, in preparation, I propose the etching of this circle to begin on May Day, in commemoration of that ancient festival of renewal and blossoming prosperity.

On that day, May, 1, 2014, I propose the opening of a private group, accessible to those who seek admission into the Hermetic Circle.

The link to seek that admission will appear herein.

So, for those with eyes to read - If you are interested in joining a group that accepts all faiths as one greater universal concept of the divine take notice. You are not alone are welcome to commune with those of like mind.
If you have received this notice in your email and wish be included in the May Day pronouncement as a founding member, please respond with your name to HermeticCircle@gmail.com. In keeping with magical tradition, and to afford some anonymity, I propose you also choose and send a Hermetic name by which you may be known within the circle.
