After seeing the new video for last year’s “Fo Yo Sorrows,” I expressed my concern yesterday via 140 characters regarding the unknown release date of Big Boi’s long-awaited solo album. He Tweeted @me, says “very soon young Jedi.” G-h-e-t-t-o-m-u-s-i-c-k. Stay down!

Electronic one man band, Derek Vincent Smith, AKA Pretty Lights, is offering up his latest EP, Making Up a Changing Mind, as a free download on his official site. According to his bio, the Colorado based producer’s previous 3 albums have combined for over 500k downloads. Making Up a Changing Mind Track #2, “I Can See it in Your Face,” is sure to rock the desert at this year’s Coachella, much like it just rocked my living room.

“I Can See it in Your Face” by Pretty Lights

“Suburban Dogs,” a lovely, mellowed out track from Real Estate’s lovely, mellowed out self-titled release, got a video premiere today on P4K TV full of ugly Christmas sweaters and some ‘beautiful spiral ham ova’ here.’ Had some trouble getting into the Jersey band’s 2009 debut (oddly, must not have been feeling very chillfuzzed that day), but this has earned it a few more plays.

Along with real estate offices, Real Estate are also playing every show at SXSW.

Eggplant. Lasagna. Yummy.

I haven’t really put any thought into what this song is about or what the lyrics are, and I’m pretty OK with that considering Harlem probably didn’t either.

If you go by their Myspace page, Harlem are a thrash band covered in BBQ sauce from Austin, TX who only like “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Fair enough. Their Matador debut, Hippies, is due April 6, and they’ll be playing every party at SXSW (I’m exaggerating, but not by much). Songoftheday ish, “Gay Human Bones,” is streaming below via The Fader.

Zooey Deschanel is already the champion when it comes to making adorable indie music videos, so I feel like she is just gloating now. Above, her and M. Ward present a new, incredibly adorable video for “In the Sun” from She & Him’s upcoming Volume Two (due March 23). (P4K)

MGMT are offering up a track (not the single?), “Flash Delirium,” from their upcoming, long-awaited sophomore album, Congratulations. We were warned, guys. I am still navigating my way through this retro, psychedelic clusterfark of styles, instruments, melodies, and rhythms. That flute solo is confusing me, among lots of other things. Actually, “Flash Delirium” seems almost intentionally confusing and overly structureless. I can’t decide whether that’s endearing or annoying.

I feel like I’m going to have to spend the rest of the day listening to this on a loop before I can even begin to understand it, or form an opinion of any kind (I much prefer the title track, “Congratulations,” which also leaked today).

I need to hear this in the context of the record. I need a drink.

Above, Kid Cudi’s second, alternate clip for Man on the Moon highlight, “Pursuit of Happiness.” This time, Ratatat and MGMT members actually make an appearance. This is much better/more appropriate than the previous Josh Hartnett directed poppin’ bottles vid.

My favorite hipster children’s choir, PS 22 Chorus, added a cover of Phoenix’ “Lisztomania” to their impressive playlist of pop/indie favs over the weekend. In case you forgot, the chorus appeared on Passion Pit’s debut album, Manners, and is currenty the best thing on the internets.

Mark Linkous, also known as Sparklehorse, shot himself in the heart on Saturday in Knoxville, Tennessee, taking his own life.

Linkous recently collaborated with Danger Mouse on Dark Night of the Soul, one of the best records of last year. Above, the bittersweet “Don’t Take My Sunshine Away” sort of takes on a new meaning - from one of my favorite albums of the last decade, 2006’s Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain. Linkous struggled with depression and drug addiction, two factors that delayed that record for many years. He was 47.

R.I.P. Mark. Your talent will be missed.

These aren’t the best quality, but if you’ve been anxiously awaiting a release date for We Are Lasers for the past 9 months, then these might be of interest. Lupe Fiasco premiered 3 new tracks off of the upcoming [someday?] album at his ‘Steppin Lasers’ Tour kick-off on Friday in Claremont, CA. “Scream,” “State Crime Radio,” and “Beautiful Lasers” are below.
