Version 1.5 is out — WP Social Blogroll

Version 1.5 of the plugin has been released. I have chosen a new name: WP Social Blogroll. I think it fits better than the old one which sounded a little lame

What else is new?

Added Google Favicon Discovery — Google has a simple feature that allows to access the favicon that is associated with a URL. You can now optionally use this feature for your blogroll.
If you have the plugin Ozh Admin Drop Down Menu installed, WP Social Blogroll will be shown with a nifty little icon in your settings-menu.
Updated links to the support-forum and to my wiki

I published Version 1.4.1 of the Feed Reading Blogroll yesterday:

Features:

Language-support for Belorussian (thanks to Ilyuha)
Tooltip for bookmarks in sidebar is now configurable to show either the blog-description, the latest post-title or nothing at all.
Added sub-directories for javascript, css and languages-files to plugin-directory.
Enhanced JavaScript-performance by replacing jQuery.each()-calls with native JavaScript for-loops.

Version 1.4 is out — let’s roll!

The latest version 1.4 is out now and it features two additional languages, French and Swedish, as well as a new blogroll-style.

The new style let’s your blogroll roll literally. It’s an animated style that is intended to occupy only a little part of your blogroll. However, it will show all of you bookmarks anyway, because all of them will scroll down through your sidebar. Only five of them will show up at the same time.

Every few seconds, a new bookmark will fade in at the top, while another will fade out at the bottom. You can see it live on my blog: http://www.weinschenker.name, in a way, it is inspired by Digg’s bigspy.

All changes in version 1.4:

Added blogroll style “Rolling”. An animated style that will only occupy a small part of your sidebar.
Removed the “lone colon” that appeared on Classic-Style-Blogrolls with bookmarks that had no date-information.

If English is not your native language, you might be pleased to hear that there are great people around that took the effort and translated the plugin.

Just recently, Markus Wallgren contributed the Swedish translation. So the Feed Reading Blogroll now supports nine languages. The other languages and their great translators are:

A big “Thank you” goes to all the translators for their great work!

Every release of the plugin will contain all available language files. So only on rare occasions you would need to install the language-files manually.

Swedish will be part of the next version of the plugin, so this translation is not included in the full download yet. If you want to install Swedish language support now, download the most recent language-pack. Then, all you have to do is to upload the files to the directory, where the rest of the plugin-files is stored. Normally, this is

Feed Reading Blogroll: Version 1.3 released

Today Feed Reading Blogroll version 1.3 has been released.

These are the changes:

Compatibility with WordPress 2.7.1 and 2.8
Added multi-widget-support (WordPress-2.8-blogs only)
Plugin’s JavaScript can be loaded either from the pageheader or pagefooter (WordPress-2.8-blogs only)
Further improved JavaScript-performance

Upcoming Version 1.2.2

The upcoming version 1.2.2 of the Feed Reading Blogroll will bring a couple of adaptions to the new WordPress version 2.8. It will be released together with WordPRess 2.8.

Most of them will not be visible to the user or to the blogs’ visitors.

~~However, one thing needs to be done as soon as you have upgraded to the plugin-version 1.2.2 AND also to WordPress 2.8:~~

~~The widget-API of WordPress changes with WordPress 2.8, which will require you to add the widget of the blogroll to your sidebar again.~~

You will be able to set, whether the Plugin’s Javascript is loaded in your blog’s header or it’s footer.
