Back in the old days, there were no easy ways to transfer app data to and from an app. Since Streaks doesn’t rely on any kind of web service, getting and sending data was never something that was very approachable.

But alas, we’ve finally made your Streaks data available! By simply using the iTunes File Sharing functionality (iOS 3.2+ required), you can now attach your device to your computer, open up iTunes, and transfer your Streaks data off of your device. When you want to restore your data, just copy it back over. Easy as pie. No weird web services, no weird new UI inside the app, just simple file access to YOUR data.

Sure, we consider Streaks a great achievement in simplicity while maintaining great functionality, but its the reviews that make our heart grow. Streaks users just adore it. Not only do they love it, it’s actually HELPING them.

Review after review explains how Streaks helped maintain a habit, or quit a habit. Making neat software is one thing, but actually HELPING people’s lives and health is an amazing feeling.

So today we’re making Streaks 3.2 available. And once again, we’ve added a feature that our lovely users have been begging for, a passcode lock screen.

As of today’s update, you can now keep Streaks private or keep people from messing up your streaks by adding a passcode via the settings. Once you set a passcode, anytime you launch or switch to Streaks, you’ll be required to enter this passcode.

Following up our Notes update, this is just another feature we’ve implemented thanks to the input of our users. Thanks guys!

CoolPapers hit the iTunes store one year ago today and within the next few days, someone will download the 10 millionth wallpaper!

Three months after we launched, a user from France downloaded the 1 millionth wallpaper.
Downloads doubled to 2 million six weeks later after someone from Utah grabbed a wallpaper featuring UFC fighter Forrest Griffin. Over the next 8 months, CoolPapers has seen an order of magnitude increase in wallpaper downloads. People continue to install the app, offer great feedback and give high ratings. And best of all, the selection — already the largest when the app launched — has doubled to over 100,000 high-quality images!

Knowing we had a hit on our hands, we launched CoolPapers for iPad just before Christmas 2010. Our HD wallpaper collection grows daily, adding to an already towering number of CoolPaper’d iOS devices.

We start companies with the single goal of success, but little thought on stability. We change addresses on a regular basis, we put our startups before our own personal situations, and we pride ourselves on our flexibility.

Well, I like to label myself as an “entrepreneur”, so predictably, Father Change has once again shown up at my front door.

When we started Fanzter, we didn’t think about exit strategies or even a long-term roadmap. We talked about creating great products that were unique, truly special, and useful, built on top of an incredible technology platform. I know I’m biased, but it’s hard to deny that Fanzter’s built some great stuff.

I’m an early stage entrepreneur, so as Fanzter now moves into the next phase of it’s growth, I’ve decided the timing is right for me to move on to my next venture. I will continue to serve on Fanzter’s board, and I will be keeping in touch with the team often. Fanzter has aggressive plans for the future, and I look forward to watching them unfold.

We have an incredible group of fans and supporters and I want to thank all of you (especially my family) for your endless encouragement. And to the Fanzter family and the teams at Second Avenue Partners and Steamboat Ventures – Thank you for the experience of a lifetime.

Streaks 3.1 has just hit the App Store! With this latest release, Streaks now lets you leave useful notes on any day, allowing you to explain a missed day or to describe your activity for that day. This has been, by far, our most requested feature. We hope you have fun adding notes to all your calendars and taking your Streaks to the next level!

Last month, we announced that CoolPapers had served its one millionth wallpaper. Yesterday at 9:32 PM ET, a CoolPaper’s user from Sandy, Utah downloaded our two millionth wallpaper.

CoolPapers continued to be a big hit for us and we just wanted to say “Thank You” to all of our customers.

Here are a few updated numbers:

  • Over 175,000 installs in 167 counties, including Angola, Haiti, and Mozambique
  • Average wallpapers downloads per user: 15
  • Most wallpaper downloads by a user: 5,705
  • Over 250 new wallpapers added daily (from coolspotters.com)
