This week was no exception with Clinton Portis, Chris Henry, and Thomas Davis all ending up on the trainers table. We’ve got it all right here in the latest edition of Infirmary Report, the first article to read for what happened on Sunday. Make sure you know all the big injuries and check us out every week right here at FantasyFootball.com!!!

Running backs

DOUBTFUL
Clinton Portis (Concussion), Washington Redskins
Clinton Portis left Sunday’s game with 3:20 remaining in the first quarter after taking a hard helmet-to-helmet hit. Portis got crunched between Chevis Jackson and Thomas DeCoud at the end of a carry and did not return after gaining just four yards on four carries. Jim Zorn revealed that Clinton was “knocked out” on the play and he plans to be “cautious” in this situation. “I don’t remember what happened,” Portis admitted. “I got a headache. I’m sore.” Teams usually abide by the standard one game of rest for a player after they get knocked unconscious the week prior, so it looks like Ladell Betts may start against Denver in week 10.

DOUBTFUL
Glenn Coffee (Concussion), San Francisco 49ers
49ers RB Glen Coffee left Sunday’s game in the fourth quarter with a concussion. Coffee was down for a while, but he was able to make it off the field with the help of two trainers. He obviously did not return, especially with starter Frank Gore able to field the majority of the carries again. While Coffee’s fantasy relevance isn’t what it once was, it’s worth noting that he is likely to miss next week for the same reasons mentioned above. The commissioner is paying close attention to concussion injuries this year, so it appears the rest of the league is trying to abide by an unofficial standard.

Wide Receivers

OUT
Chris Henry (Broken Forearm), Cincinnati Bengals
Chris Henry broke his left forearm in Sunday’s game against Baltimore and had to be carted off the field. The injury occurred when Henry was tackled by Ravens’ defensive back Fabian Washington after making a 20-yard catch over the middle. The Bengals have not released any timetable for his return as of yet but a broken forearm tends to cause most players to miss a bulk of the season, especially a player whose primary job is catching things with his hands. Henry was a pre-season darling and targeted by a lot of folks in later rounds but it never really panned out in the regular season. It’s officially time to dump him off your roster if you haven’t already.

QUESTIONABLE
Anquan Boldin (Ankle), Arizona Cardinals
Here’s another one of our regulars here at the Infirmary Report and while he didn’t even suit up this week, his situation is still relevant enough to re-visit. Boldin was listed as inactive for Sunday’s game at Chicago because coach Ken Whisenhunt was concerned that Boldin would be susceptible to re-injury due to poor field conditions. The real story here, is that Boldin was very upset with the decision and he said the coaches weren’t “man enough” to tell him before the game that he wouldn’t play. Ultimately Whisenhunt was smart to sit Boldin, since he was unable to finish the Cardinals’ previous two games due to his lingering ankle injury. It’s very unclear if Boldin will play next week or not but it’s becoming mandatory to have a backup plan if he is on your roster this season.

QUESTIONABLE
Austin Collie (Neck), Indianapolis Colts
Austin Collie left Sunday’s game with an apparent head injury in the 4th quarter and did not return. Collie had his bell rung while hauling in a 16-yard pass. He looked rattled and laid on the turf for about 20 seconds before eventually walking off the field. The extent of his injury is not yet known but it could just be a stinger and we’re likely to find out more after practice reports come out during the week. Collie was held to just two receptions for 26 yards on the day but if he misses any time, expect Pierre Garcon to see a lot more action in the passing game.

Linebackers

OUT
Thomas Davis (Knee), Carolina Panthers
Panthers LB Thomas Davis left Sunday’s game midway through the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a serious knee injury. He was injured while dropping back in pass coverage, and wasn’t touched on the play. Davis immediately began clutching his right knee and had to be helped off the field with the aid of two team personnel. He was limping noticeably while leaving the stadium but the good news is that Davis wasn’t on crutches and didn’t have his knee in a brace after the game. Davis said he thought he had hyper-extended his knee but more information will be revealed after a Monday morning MRI. His week 10 status is very much in doubt, which makes Landon Johnson a decent IDP pickup in deeper leagues.

OUT
Keith Rivers (Calf), Cincinnati Bengals
Bengals LB Keith Rivers left Sunday’s game early in the third quarter with a calf injury and did not return. Even though the injury doesn’t appear to be terribly serious, Rivers was “hobbling” and on crutches after the game. He did had four tackles before his exit Sunday, but was replaced in the lineup by Brandon Johnson. Rivers did not rule out playing in week 10 and while his confidence is encouraging, you can’t start Rivers next week with the injury concerns here.

DOUBTFUL
Ernie Sims (Hamstring), Detroit Lions
Lions LB Ernie Sims left Sunday’s game in the third quarter with an apparent hamstring injury and did not return to the game. The injury occurred while Sims was trying to track down Seattle running back Julius Jones on a screen play. The injury appeared to be very painful, as Sims was moving around very gingerly and had a dejected look on his face as he slowly made his way off the field. This injury makes rookie DeAndre Levy a full-time starter and makes him an intriguing IDP start in deeper leagues.

Defensivebacks

OUT
Charles Tillman (Shoulder), Chicago Bears
Bears CB Charles Tillman left Sunday’s game with a left shoulder injury in the second quarter of the team’s loss to the Cardinals. Tillman had four tackles in the game before his exit but this injury is cause for concern, as Tillman had surgery on his right shoulder in January and his return is no guarantee at this point. Zack Bowman and Nate Vasher look to see a lot more time in the base defense as a result of Tillman’s absence.
