It's confirmed : Preity and Ness split.

Bollywood diva Priety Zinta has finally put an end to all speculation about the status of her relationship with Ness Wadia, the Bombay Dyeing scion: The two are just working partners and share a cordial relationship as co-owners of the Kings XI Punjab cricket team.

However, just last week Preity had denied reports of a break up with Ness.

At that time it had been widely reported that her four-year-old relationship with Ness was off and that she had moved on to New York-based hotelier Vikram Chatwal. In a subsequent interview, Preity rubbished the reports.

But it seems she could not deny the truth for too long.

Ness’ absence by Preity side at the ongoing IPL in South Africa has been too glaring to go unnoticed, though Ness is there at the tournament. He has also not been with her all the public events she has attended recently.

As the whispers got louder, Preity felt it was important to clear the air especially in order to avoid any negative impact they could have on her team.

Priety is said to have sent out an email to everyone associated with Kings XI Punjab stating that she and Ness currently just have a professional relationship.

Is it a break-up or the two are just taking a break to analyse their relations?

May be the straight talking Preity will clarify this soon too.

Preity Zinta : One Must Vote. Preity Zinta will be traveling all the way from South Africa to India just to take one day off to vote. According to the actor, she is doing this just to set an example for her fellow citizens. "I know that the IPL schedule will hardly allow us time to breathe but I will come back India just to vote," says Preity. "It doesn't matter if I am only able to spend one day in Mumbai, but I will be here on the day of voting," she added.

According to Preity, voting is a right that everybody should exercise and it should always be an informed choice. "I have always been saying that it's a right that everybody should exercise. It is us who will have to choose the correct people to represent us," she says.

According to sources, Congress had always wanted Preity to campaign for them in these elections. They even wanted to approach her to field her as a candidate in her hometown constituency against Anurag Thakur, son of Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal. But, as she says, Preity is not interested in entering politics at all!

Who's the boss?
At a recent event, Yuvraj Singh was heard saying that his boss Preity Zinta was the real captain of the team (Kings XI Punjab) and he is just her deputy!

She is also urging fellow Indians to vote. She says voting is everyone’s first right and they should exercise it and select the best candidate to represent them.

Preity Zinta slams media over her split rumors with her long time beau Ness Wadia. She also warns media that if such rumors, if continues will lead to some legal action. Clarifying on the same, she says, "These rumours are in bad taste and completely baseless. I cannot believe such utter rubbish is being written."

Friends close to Preity Zinta vouch further fact that the actress is extremely outspoken and always calls a spade a spade. She has always been honest about her personal life and values her dignity. It is unfair to her when such allegations are spread without even crosschecking with her. Her close friend adds, "How can they link her up with anyone she's seen with? It's rubbish!"

Once more Preity Zinta has proved how courageous she is. She is already known for her style to keep with truth despite whom so ever infront of her. When Preity Zinty had to share screen space with a cobra for the lengthy and dramatic climatic sequence in Deepa Mehta's Heaven On Earth, the director wasn't really sure whether Preity would be able to carry of the replitilian act without the actor succumbing to the fear factor.

Recalling the harrowing episode from the shooting of her most important film to date Preity says, "I had to put my hand into a hole in the ground, take out this big long snake and not just hold it but also put it around my neck. It was a harrowing in the script.I wondered how I'd manage on camera."

Preity had nightmares before they shot this crucial sequence. "Deepa wasn't sure I'd be able to do it. So she suggested a digital snake instead of a live one. It would've looked as authentic if not more, because the movements of a digital snake would be more controllable."

But somehow Preity's heart and art were not in the artifice. " The whole film is about getting as real as possible. It didn't make sense at that late stage to suddenly swerve into a digital kind of filmmaking after I Deepa and I had gone through so much to make sure everything was as authentic as possible."

Preity shot with a real snake. "And it went surprisingly well. After I got over my initial revulsion and fear I was fine with the snake. People wonder how I could take such a long snake around my neck. But isn't that what true acting is all about?"

The film has episodes from Girish Karnad's play Naag Mandala where the battered wife imagines the naag devta transforming into a caring loving husband as an alternative life to her nightmarish reality.

"The snake is almost my second co-star after Chand who plays my husband. I couldn't shirk away from it."

Incidentally not too many of our Bollywood queens have shot with real snakes. Pooja Bedi did in Jagmohan Mundra's Vish Kanya.

There were rumors that two queens of IPL , Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty after Shilpa Shetty mention to a TV Channel that she won't go to ground and hug cricketers. Which Preity was doing in the previous IPL series. So many Stories of the two IPL queens battling it out on the playing field and on television came to a sudden turning point this week when Shilpa Shetty extended an olive branch to her supposed rival in the IPL Preity Zinta.

Shilpa and Raj Kundra are hosting a grand party to celebrate their entry into the IPL on March 10 at the Grand Hyatt. And Preity is invited.

Says Shilpa, "I really want these unsavoury rumours about our rivalry to end. On an impulse I sent a sms to Preity inviting her for the party that Raj and I are hosting."

Shilpa was pleasantly surprised when Preity replied back. "She said she'd love to come. But can't because she'd be out of town. I think that just about takes care of that. I'm sure we'll have other occasions to interact. For now it's enough that she accepted my invitation."

Shilpa thinks these rivalry stories are unnecessary. "We're both well brought-up girls. We were even together in the Bachchans' world tour. And we got along fine. We don't need to be seen as these warring women at all, please."

About the party on the 10th Shilpa says, "It's been a while since Raj and I had friends share in our happiness. The IPL deal is a good occasion to have a get-together. We're inviting all our friends."

Preity Zinta was recently seen in the first one day international between India and New Zealand in Napier. When she was asked what she is doing here. She informed that she is been invited by New Zealand Tourism Board for a party where New Zealand PM was going to host a reception for Indian and NZ cricketers and obviously Preity was the Jaan of the party.

An elated Preity says, “The New Zealand PM hosted a reception for the Indian and NZ cricket teams and a couple of dignitaries including yours truly. We talked about India and cricket. I am surprised at how clued-in he is to the happenings and developments in our country. I felt so proud of our Indian cricketers wearing their jackets and all. It was awesome.”

“John Key is so young and so charming. It was a pleasure meeting him. He’s extremely dynamic and much loved by the people. I was bowled over by his down-to-earth attitude. He was so keen on knowing more about India and Indians.”

Preity who is alone in NZ says,“I am alone and having a ball. I love adventure sports. And I love New Zealand. It’s the land of the Lord of the Rings. But it’s also a rugged adrenaline-racing country.”

She ends the note on the recent attacks on Sri Lankan cricket players in Pakistan, “It is a horrific occurrence not just for cricket but sports in general. What can I say? My prayers are with the cops who lost their lives.”

Well our bubbly Miss Zinta is definitely looking nice. Good luck for her future after Films.

Preity Zinta was born into a Hindu Rajput family from Rohru in Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh. Her father, Durganand Zinta, was an officer in the Indian Army. He died in a car accident when she was 13 years old; the accident also involved her mother, Nilprabha, who was severely injured and consequently remained bedridden for two years. Zinta called the tragic accident and her father's death a significant turning point in her life, which forced her to mature rapidly. She has two brothers; Deepankar and Manish, a year older and a year younger respectively. Deepankar is a commissioned officer in the Indian Army, while Manish lives in California.

Preity Zinta, who describes herself as a tomboy as a child, has emphasised her father's military background as having a lasting impression on how family life was conducted. He asserted the importance of discipline and punctuality to the children. She studied at the Convent of Jesus and Mary boarding school in Shimla. Although she confesses to loneliness in the boarding school, she noted that it was compensated by her finding a "... perfect set of friends" there. As a student, she developed a love for literature, particularly the works of William Shakespeare and poetry. According to Zinta, she enjoyed schoolwork and received good grades; in her free time she played sports, especially basketball.

Upon graduating from the boarding school at age 18, Zinta enrolled at St Bede's College in Shimla. She graduated college with an English honours degree, and then started a graduate programme in psychology. She earned a postgraduate degree in criminal psychology, but later took up modelling. Zinta's first television commercial was for Perk chocolates, the result of a chance meeting with a director at a friend's birthday party in 1996. The director persuaded Zinta to audition for the spot, and she was selected. Afterwards, she appeared in other catalogues and commercials, including one for the soap Liril.

Preity Zinta (Hindi: प्रीति ज़िंटा ; born January 31, 1975) is an Indian film actress. She has appeared in Hindi films of Bollywood, as well as Telugu, Punjabi and English language films. After graduating with a degree in criminal psychology, Zinta made her acting debut in Dil Se in 1998 followed by a role in Soldier the same year. These performances earned her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award, and she was later recognised for her role as a teenage single mother in Kya Kehna (2000). She subsequently played a variety of character types, and in doing so has been credited with changing the image of a Hindi film heroine.

Zinta received her first Filmfare Best Actress Award in 2003 for her performance in the drama Kal Ho Naa Ho. She went on to play the lead female role in two consecutive annual top-grossing films in India: the science fiction film Koi... Mil Gaya, her biggest commercial success and the star-crossed romance Veer-Zaara, which earned her critical acclaim. She was later noted for her portrayal of independent, modern Indian women in Salaam Namaste and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, top-grossing productions in overseas markets. These accomplishments have established her as a leading actress of Hindi cinema. Her first international film role was in the Canadian film Heaven on Earth, for which she was awarded the Best Actress (Silver Hugo) award at the 2008 Chicago International Film Festival.

In addition to movie acting, Zinta has written a series of columns for BBC News Online South Asia, is a regular stage performer, and along with boyfriend Ness Wadia she is a co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kings XI Punjab.
