I like that.. A VHS recovery group.
I understand the nostalgia factor. I also remember when DVD was about to be introduced & thinking it’s about time for an upgrade. VHS quality was never good, even in its heyday. What I can’t stand is reading articles people post about DVD sucking and VHS being superior. I’ve seen VHS nuts call DVD words like”charmless”, “cynical”, “clinical”. One article claiming “we” have been “brainwashed” into liking DVD or Blu~Ray.

That is simply nostalgia taken too far when you see a new & by every account superior format and feel it threatening

De Palma’s Sisters(1973). I was horrified for days after I saw it, and it just left me in a total state of shock for days

The Exorcist(1973) I thought I was possessed for months after I saw this movie. it mortified me beyond belief

Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein(1978) (X rated at the time I saw it) Also known as Flesh for Frankenstein. I was 17 when I saw this and though by todays standards the gore and shocks are almost laughable it did manage to freak me out. However I did see it in 3D, so that might have made a big difference

Cannibal Holocaust(2004) This movie disturbed me so much that even though I did not see it until 2004 many years after it’s initial release it managed to truly haunt me. The music is very dooming, sad and makes one think of depravity and death. The gore looks very real at times, and the animal killings are most disturbing thing about it. For some reason it really bothers you.

This film based on the true story of a man who ate his lover has not the best production values, but what it lacks in that it more than makes up for with some of the most horrific gore ever put on film. It’s brutal and very unsettling. And it disturbed me a great deal. I was freaked out for days after I saw it

The Butcher(Korea)2011
Low budget snuff wannabe starts out downright annoying, but it’s so sick and twisted later on without being too graphic that it left my jaw hanging open. I actually wrote Netflix and asked them to pull it, feeling that it simply went too far.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(1976)
Who wasn’t horrified by this who saw it in the 70’s. It really freaked me out

Well I can go on and on, but you get the picture. This was long enough as it was. But despite all of this I must mention that the most disturbing thing I have ever seen was recently. A real video of two men being brutally murdered by a Mexican drug cartel. The first one has his head cut off with a chainsaw then the other is slowly killed by having his head cut off with a hunting knife. It’s done outdoors in daylight and the video is near HD quality. And let me tell you this is so horrifying and so disturbing that I feel that maybe it’s not even a good idea to mention it at all. And unless you are extremely jaded I beg you not to seek it out. It’s out there on the net, but please don’t, It may likely scar you for life

YeS I DID if you’re a non-christain non-european guy you can easily enjoy this movie as an average action/thriller

I enjoyed it for its dark theme HECK harry potter is even darker why isn’t that criticized ? i liked the theme and the action

Mine happens to be Fantasia. As a kid appreciating masters of animation wasn’t on my mind. It was the brooms with a mind of their own and pink elephants doing eerie dances.

I think the majority of the public just relates animation to fun and whimsy regardless of the actual content of the film. I think all of us have at least one Disney related film that scared the bejesus out of us.

I find that I can read subtitles faster than I can understand spoken dialogue. And dubbing looks ridiculous. The only irritant is when subtitles are done so poorly that they are indistinct from the background.

BTW, Some and See (Idi i smotri) is a subtitled war movie that’s as disturbing as Saving Private Ryan. And an American movie for the list: Session 9.

Americans can’t read subtitles? I’ve never had a problem reading them. Allow me to assist in extracting your head from your bum…

Child’s play!? Try watching ReGOREgitated Sacrifice! That has some INSANE special effects for the gore and blood. It actually looks legit at most parts.. Not to mention it makes Aftermath look like a family film.

I believe the movie your referencing is possibly Cannibal Holocaust. The director and producer had the actors sign contracts of silence and made them disappear for 12mths to add realism to the movie. Of course they had to ” bring the actors to life” when the court system put them on trial for acessories to murder… :)

Augusts Underground Mordum is so fake, not to mention boooring! It tries way too hard to seem realistic with outlandishly amateurish camera angles and poor acting all done on purpose in an attempt to make it look authentic and real life, which is certainly is not.
If it was real it would have been more graphic, much more interesting, and the “actors'” emoting would have churned your guts. That was not real.

I am in no way advocating that anyone should subjecting themselves to viewing this abomination but, with all do respect, you should add ” August Underground Mordum ” to the list if you haven’t already! For me, it made “Aftermath” look like “Child’s Play”!
