The night was attended by well over 100 people which included the VIP guests, such as the Parish Priest Reverend Father Bill Wright and Father Anthony of All Saints Parish and other guest Priests and Liverpool Hospital Catholic Chaplain, also including the Honourable Wendy Waller, Mayor of Liverpool City Council which also included her family, Mr Andy Ball, the Second Secretary for the United States Consular General in Sydney, also Mr Anthony Reyes, Vice Consul for the Philippine Consulate in Sydney, also the representative of the Returned Soldiers League (RSL), NSW Branch, the Vice-President, Mr John Haines AM. It was a night of going back in time with the guests being serve by the ladies dressed as female sailors, like in a Navy-Style Function, the ladies looked quite cute too. We also have a very special guest band from the Blacktown City Community Band, who performed many numbers but especially the three national anthems, of the respected countries represented. The highlight of the evening was the 'Ceremonial Laying of Wreaths' in commemoration of those who gave their lives to the cause of freedom, and to them we owe a sincere debt of gratitude. The guest performers for the night include Ms Karen Valdez and Ms Mikayla Valdez, also Ms Cynthia Gordon and Mr Emerson Tuazon, who all entertained the VIP's and visitors, but we also must include the stirring performance of the Visayan Cultural Dance Group who danced and thrilled us with the Hawaiian Dance. The others guests included members from others affiliated groups of the Philippine Community Council of NSW who again supported the Visayan Association of Australia Inc. for this is the second time we have held this event to commemorate the Leyte Gulf Landings.

Whom am I talking about? The young woman's name is Miss Donna Marie Jones from Liverpool, NSW, and our very own candidate for the 2009 Miss Philippine-Australian Contest, to held in October.

Donna is studying at Australian Careers Business College to become a stewardess, as she has a passion for Tourism and to study the many cultures of the world, and especially to travel to the Philippines and learn about her mothers own culture, and language. Donna hopes to one day to be able to speak fluently the national language and to be able to converse with other Filipino's within the global community.
This young woman has the gift of dance and song, always learning new dance routines and learning to sing Tagalog, especially when singing karaoke. Her other interests are also gifted, writing poetry, writing and composing songs. or over 10 years Donna has been actively involved in the Filipino Community, of whom she proudly says, "I am a part of."

She has no siblings, but proudly calls her friends her extended family, which are like brothers and sisters to her. Donna states she is a shy, helpful, caring, loving, down to earth girl, who will do what is expected of her, as she is a much-organised girl.
