The novel is called “I Don’t Know What’s Worse — The Zombie Apocalypse, Or The Patriarchy. Probably The Zombie Thing.” It’s a hurriedly-written book about zombies, hair care and product placement.

Not just that. Do you know how hard it is to not rewrite your story over and over again until the heat death of the universe? NaNoWriMo forces you to just get on with it.
Same goes for programming, actually. Some of us need deadlines, because without them, we never get anything done.
The first fifty thousand words to fall out of your head do not constitute a novel any more than dumping the contents of every jar in your cupboard onto the kitchen floor would constitute a meal.
There’s more to Simon’s post, and you should click through and read it. However, I fundamentally disagree.
It’s not random words being put down on the page (or rather, whacked into the word processor.) Sure, most likely those of us participating aren’t using the best words we could, but we’re still creating a story. We’re being purposeful. We’re not just letting words fall out of our head. Not by any measure.

As soon as TweetDeck gets support for lists, I'm adding Scoble's tech news list as a column and deleting all the tech feeds from Google Reader. There's a lot of stuff in Reader where I want to go through and read everything. Certain blogs, comics, etc. News does not fit into that category. If it's an hour old, it's probably irrelevant anyway.
I love giving Gabe Rivera grief, founder of Techmeme. But I do love Techmeme. I read it every day.
But now that we have Twitter lists, I’m finding I read Techmeme differently. Why? Well, TechMeme has a Twitter account.
So, when something gets added to Techmeme it gets added to my tech news list. (By the way, refresh the list every minute or so and you’ll see just how much news this industry generates).
But something else is also on that list: 492 other news sources!
So, now you get Techmeme AND you get a large diversity of news that you can’t get on Techmeme.

Finally catching up on feeds and I found this. This is fecking brilliant. Congrats mate.
I'm thrilled to announce that over the next few months (at least) I will be writing for Engadget. Yes, it's been my dream job for years and I'm still shaking like a little schoolboy on his first day at school. The list of people that I have to thank is rather long (Steve Jobs included! Thanks dude.), so I'll save the embarrassment towards the end of the course. You know who you are anyway.
I'm very much looking forward to meeting the team up close. I've already been working with my London colleague, the ever-so-charming Vlad Savov, for some time. He's awesome (but don't tell him that because he'll get penisy about this).
