Before I get into my feelings on Real Estate Lead generation…I want to give you a bit of background about myself.

As you may, or may not know, I currently work as a Tech Manager in a Real Estate office in Long Beach, California. I have a degree in Computer Science and spent 14 years after college as either a Systems Engineer or Network Engineer.

In a story I’ll save for another time, I got married, my son was born, and my career took a different path…

…and I ended up working with a few small businesses and helping them generate leads through paid ads and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Some of the businesses I was generating leads for were:

Yacht Chartering Companies

Insurance Agents

Lawyers

Photographers

Lenders
…and Real Estate Agents.

As I began to work with agents, I quickly realized that many were not prepared to do what it takes to convert an online lead.

Let’s be honest…

…leads are not hard to generate as you’ll see in my course Digital Farming Secrets Digital Farming Secrets – Beta.

But converting those leads…that’s a whole different story.

I found that many agents that I worked with early on, were used to getting their business from their SOI (Sphere of Influence).

And for the most part, their SOI was going to use them no matter what.

I mean let’s be real…if your Mom, Dad, Sister, or Brother won’t use you…who will?

For your SOI, there really wasn’t much deal chasing. At least not compared to internet leads.

So the internet leads I generated...for clients that were 6 months out or more from buying or selling, often ended up still buying or selling a home…just not with the agent I generated the lead for.

After an initial contact attempt, or two, most agents stopped following up.

So what is my take on generating real estate leads online?

In order to get the most out of it, it must be fine-tuned to how you do business as an agent.

You may be an agent that will benefit from using Facebook and Google ads to brand yourself and stay in front of your sphere.

If you are new to an area or don’t know a whole lot of people in an area, you’ll need to use it as a tool to generate new business.

Business with people who most likely don’t know, like, or trust you….YET.

As you read future posts on my site, I’m going to cover many ways to generate real estate leads.

Just keep in mind, there isn’t one plan when it comes to real estate lead generation that I would recommend for everyone.

Cold callers will have a different digital plan than door knockers. Door knockers will have a different plan than agents that primarily work Open Houses. Those that primarily work open houses will have a different plan than those that generate the majority of business from their sphere.

Stay tuned…as I will touch on strategies you can use for all of these!

If you are a Real Estate agent...a website can...and should be a powerful piece of your marketing Arsenal.

However, a tool you may, or may not know about YET, is DropFunnels.

When I was running my own personal sites, before getting into Real Estate, I used something called WordPress 99% of the time.

I'm not going to get too technical, but if you've ever read a blog online, it's very likely it was built on the WordPress platform.

Once I became a Real Estate agent, I knew with my background, I could utilize my knowledge in Search Engine Optimization (ranking websites) to help me generate more leads and more business.

Since in the mind of many agents, marketing just consisted of littering...I mean dropping off flyers...I knew there wasn't much competition when it came to ranking a local website as an agent.

I knew I wasn't going to rank with the big boys like Zillow, Realtor.com, and Trulia.

Especially for terms like "Long Beach Homes For Sale".

But I knew if I niched down into specific neighborhoods, school districts, and condo complexes, I would probably rank pretty well.

But then I got off track...

The shiny lure revealed itself to me...Facebook ads!

I did well with Facebook Ads...for both myself...and the real estate agents I work with.

However, my goal was, and always has been, to help other Real Estate Agents grow their business through digital marketing.

And to be honest...paid real estate advertising can get complicated......and done incorrectly...expensive. Real expensive!

I knew in the back of my mind there was a better way for an agent to dip their toes into online leads, and do it without a whole lot of risk or major expenses.

The answer was to build a blog filled with content about their local real estate market.

But just like paid ads being complicated, setting up a WordPress website has it's complexities as well.

I've used Russel Brunson's site builder Clickfunnels in the past, and still do for some things...mainly sales funnels.

And although Clickfunnels is great at sales funnels, it is not meant to be used to create a website with regular content updates, like a blog.

That's when I heard about Drop Funnels.

I've been following Jordan Mederich and what he's been doing with funnels for quite a while now.

Although I don't know him personally, I get a good vibe from him and always seem to learn something from the content he puts out.

So when Jordan announced that he was releasing something that would allow users to not only create sales funnels, but also a blog built on the WordPress platform, I was intrigued.

This sounded like the combo I had been in search of...

...and something that I could recommend to other agents without them having to setup their own hosting, themes, plugins and all the other "fun" stuff that comes with setting up your own WordPress website.

At the time of writing this, I've had my hands on DropFunnels as a Beta user for about week.

In fact, this post you are reading right now is hosted on DropFunnels.

Because of my limited time with my hands on DropFunnels...I'm not ready to give you my full DropFunnels review just yet.

But I will say...so far...I really like what I'm seeing and I'm excited for the future plans Jordan and his team have for Drop Funnels.

If you would like to try it out yourself, you can grab a 14-day trial here.
