During my break from the comic, I’m working on lots of other artwork, mostly paintings. Here is one in progress, about 70% done:

I have tried to keep up with a reduction to 1 update a week lately but I have found that I just need to take a break for a bit. It’s a combination of work stuff, personal stuff (some of which being the simple need to recharge), and the starting of a NEW PROJECT that will be announced in due time! I realized that literally all of my free time has been going into the comic for the past four years, and I need to branch out a bit to keep my sanity (or what’s left of it). The new project is more of a story, less a gag-a-day, and it’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and I hope you will like it! Details will be forthcoming. Until further notice, bear with me. Edmund Finney’s Quest will return to regular updates soon enough (as I plan it to pretty much be ongoing for decades), so don’t worry about the fate of this comic. It’s just sitting on the sidelines for a quick breather. I figure a murder mystery cliffhanger is a good spot to leave us at, so you know it’s coming back sooner or later with a few twists to surprise you. Thanks for hanging out!

Aw yes it is a Sunday. It’s also almost Christmas time, so I wanted to take this opportunity to tell each and every one of you that I saw an episode of Sesame Street as a child, specifically a Bert and Ernie bit, where Ernie was afraid of what looked like a monster in the corner of the room, but when they turned the lights on it was just a blanket in a face-shape (see: pareidolia). I suppose this was intended to ease children’s fear of the dark, but it ended up scaring me more and dreading the possibility that I’d see that lumpy monster in the corner of my bedroom that night, and for the following few weeks. Also, I enjoy unwrapping presents and eating food. I am not sure if everything in this paragraph is necessarily related.

One Update a Week, For a While

As you may have noticed, my attempts to stick with two updates per week have been rocky for the past couple months. A new job plus more outside-of-work responsibilities have started to make it harder for me to dedicate 4 nights a week (typically 2 per comic) to drawing, which I have done since I started the comic in 2009. Now, with the holidays coming up, I don’t even want to try to promise two updates a week, since missing updates will be an almost certainty through the remainder of this month through the New Year.

A potentially good thing about this is that I will have more time to draw, since I can space out the drawing of each comic more, and more time to write, so I don’t have to throw a less-than-stellar script together just because a quick deadline is looming.

I also hope to make more extra content, like wallpapers and new store products and such, which I cannot do when all my Edmund-time is used on the comic itself.

Bear with me! I hope to return to two updates a week sooner or later, but it’s just not realistic for me to keep shooting for that at this point in time.
