Music and Melody

I finished this drawing some time ago but am only blogging about it now. I specifically chose this photo to draw because it represents everything I love about music… despite my inability to play either of the two instruments, or read sheet music.

Click on the thumbnail to view, there’s also a WIP.

But on the upside, I am really glad it’s finished. This means I can start something new instead of completing unfinished work.

A Bit of India

It’s a mixed media collage of sorts; I layered Indian paper and card stock, fabric, and paint. I didn’t plan on the gold sequins or embroidery thread wrap, it just happened.

Believe it or not, the final version of this bookmark actually has more shiny gold stuff and fabric layers on it, to go with the over all theme.

I wasn’t going to show this but figured I might as well. The thumbnail below links to two plush toys I made way back when I made that ridiculous looking catnip toy for the kittens. I don’t really like them or even have them anymore (I used their stuffing for something else, lol).

It’s okay, feel free to laugh. I’ve no idea how their faces turned out so huge XP Sad… the pattern for this plush actually makes really cute plush toys.

Some of these photos are very old, I randomly selected those with an odd memory or two from the gigantic photo archive that I’ve developed over the years. At the moment we only have Bubbles and her newest litter.

It was nice though, going through those old photos again.

Learning to manual drive would’ve been so much easier on my heart if it weren’t for the crazily high-strung parent teaching me how.

Cooking simple

My dad has slowly developed an intolerance to spicy food. After years of living alone and eating simple, it’s almost no wonder that his stomach burns acid at the slightest touch of a spice or condiment (cinnamon, cardamom, etc.)

Unfortunately, we’re all great eaters of spicy food and it doesn’t help that most Indian food are deliciously spicy. But even cooking bland for him isn’t working, because really… how many people would voluntarily choose tasteless food? See, he wants to eat food that tastes good but doesn’t cause unwanted acid reflux. It’s a challenge for us because we’re so used to being creative with spices.

Like this pasta salad. Very simple, very low on ingredients: boiled pasta, fresh vegetables, a little bit of Italian seasoning and lemon.

It’s a simple light salad that I make from time to time, but it’s too bland for his taste. It’s also mostly dry since I don’t add mayo or salad dressing to it.

So my question is, what else can I add to this to make this more appetizing?

Any suggestions for a name? We’re running out of good ones. He sleeps so carelessly in the oddest of positions – intent on only his sleep, adores his sister and is always running around with his tail high up in the air.

The evolution of a design

Finally, a new look. I’ve spent the most of this week and the last designing this new theme for the blog and putting back the gallery on the site (re-databasing, new thumbnails, etc, etc). It’s almost sad how I couldn’t stay away from blue for the color scheme. I was so close to using warm earthen colors, too.

Frosted WIP, the evolution of a design

I’ve only checked it on the latest versions of some browsers, and I’ve yet to add more featured stuff, but in time. For now, I’m just happy to be using something of my own make.
