Sadly that's what's happened: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/04/bsnl-next-to-bring-3g-to-india/">Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited</a> (BSNL), itself currently under investigation for corruption allegations, has announced a similarly low priced tablet in partnership with Pantel International. The T-Pad IS701R costs Rs 3,250 ($66) compared to the Aakash's Rs 2,999 ($60) but this device has a faster 1GHz processor and runs Gingerbread on a 7-inch 800 x 600 resistive display. However it's not all sunshine and roses, unlike the Government-sponsored slate, there is no GPRS modem in this edition. If you want freedom from WiFi, it'll cost you Rs 10,999 (or $223). So how do the two tablets stack up? Head on past the break and we'll show you in a little more detail.<br /> <br /> [Thanks, Syed]</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/BNSL-pantel-aakash-rival/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Aakash put on notice as BSNL and Pantel pair up to produce T-Pad</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/BNSL-pantel-aakash-rival/">Aakash put on notice as BSNL and Pantel pair up to produce T-Pad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 21:58:00 EDT. Today at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mwc2012/">MWC</a>, the outfit has announced that the new version of its app for iDevices is now available -- and it'll play nice with your Apple slate. If you're in need of a refresher, the update features browse-while-watching, a watch later queue, access to the Vimeo Music Store and a built-in video editor for managing those clips while you're on the move. Looking to take the leap? The free app is just a few clicks away via the source link and a bit more info waits in the PR below.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/vimeo-new-ios-app-ipad/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Vimeo outs new iOS app at MWC, now sporting iPad compatibility</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/vimeo-new-ios-app-ipad/">Vimeo outs new iOS app at MWC, now sporting iPad compatibility</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 21:23:00 EDT. That friends, will change at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show with the unveiling of the absolutely gorgeous Emerg-E concept. We don't have much more info on offer other than a bevy of official shots, but with looks like that, how could we not keep a watchful eye out for its March debut? Priced at $149.99, this IPX7-certified boombox works just fine even when dunked in water -- the two 3-inch speakers will always float upwards to annoy fellow swimmers. There's no iPod dock connector here as the job's done using a 3.5mm jack inside the watertight compartment, but much like many iPhone headsets these days, you can use the buttons at the top to control music playback and volume on supported iPods or iPhones; whereas with other MP3 players you can only change the volume after flipping a switch.<br /> <br /> Additionally, the Eco Terra comes with an air pressure release valve to allow easy compartment access across different altitudes. We assume this means someone somewhere has a habit of blasting out music while trekking. Of course, you'll need to install four C Celll batteries to get things started, and that'll keep you partying in the wild for around 25 hours -- long enough to play the Baywatch soundtrack CD about 23 times. And no, there's nothing wrong with that. Hit the source link if you're ready to spend some cash.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/grace-digitals-eco-terra-boombox/">Grace Digital's Eco Terra Boombox</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/grace-digitals-eco-terra-boombox/#4849608"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/eco-terra-2011-08-09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/grace-digitals-eco-terra-boombox/#4849609"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/eco-terra-2012-02-28-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/grace-digitals-eco-terra-boombox/#4849611"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/eco-terra-2012-02-28-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/grace-digitals-eco-terra-boombox/#4849613"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/eco-terra-2012-02-28_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/grace-digitals-eco-terra-boombox-now-available-for-149-99-rea/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Grace Digital's Eco Terra boombox now available for $149.99, ready to rock the beaches</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/grace-digitals-eco-terra-boombox-now-available-for-149-99-rea/">Grace Digital's Eco Terra boombox now available for $149.99, ready to rock the beaches</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 20:38:00 EDT. There's the XPG SX900 built for enthusiasts that uses a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/6gbps">SATA III 6Gbps</a> connection and SandForce SF-2281 controller to deliver 550MB/s reads and 530MB/s writes in up to a 512GB drive. The Premier Pro SP900 packs similar specs to deliver 550MB/s reads and 520MB/s writes in up to a 256GB package, but at lower price point than its performance sibling. Rounding things out is the Premier SP800, a budget entry in 32 and 64GB sizes that uses a SATA II 3Gbps interface, plus an SF-1222 controller to deliver 280MB/s and 260MB/s sequential speeds. As usual, ADATA's not telling how much the new SSDs will set you back, but there's a full slate of specs at the source below and PR after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/adata-reveals-three-new-sandforce-ssds-for-the-high-mid-and-low/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>ADATA reveals three new SandForce SSDs for the high, mid and low end</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/adata-reveals-three-new-sandforce-ssds-for-the-high-mid-and-low/">ADATA reveals three new SandForce SSDs for the high, mid and low end</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 20:07:00 EDT. Included as part of the selection was the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/10/acer-cloudmobile-revealed/">CloudMobile</a>, the proud owner of a coveted iF Product Design award. So were we that impressed by its trophy-winning feature? Yes and no. It's not tough on the eyes by any stretch of the imagination, especially given its fancy textured back and curvacious construct, but we have a difficult time declaring this to feature the best design of the show, nor is it necessarily much of a ground-breaker. The build quality itself doesn't quite hold a candle to what you'll experience on something like the ceramic-like aluminum treatment used on the HTC One S, but yet doesn't feel like it will smash into a million pieces if we give it the 'ol heave-ho.<br /><br />But perhaps the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/24/acers-cloudmobile-gets-manhandled-sexy-shell-may-hide-android/">CloudMobile</a> earned the honors by producing a respectable internal design: it offers a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon chipset and 4.3-inch 720p HD display, for instance, and that panel is absolutely stunning with great viewing angles. We weren't allowed to view any part of the OS beyond the lock and a couple home screens, no doubt due to the model's pre-production firmware, so we'll need to leave our impressions of the UI for another time. From what we can tell, it will definitely be offering a customized skin, though it's unclear to what extent that will shine through in the final production version, still due to come out sometime in Q3. For now, enjoy the images and video underneath.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/acer-cloudmobile-hands-on/">Acer CloudMobile hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/acer-cloudmobile-hands-on/#4849557"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09961_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/acer-cloudmobile-hands-on/#4849558"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09962_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/acer-cloudmobile-hands-on/#4849559"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09963-1330372998_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/acer-cloudmobile-hands-on/#4849560"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09964_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/acer-cloudmobile-hands-on/#4849561"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09965_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/acer-cloudmobile-hands-on-at-mwc-2012/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Acer CloudMobile hands-on at MWC 2012 (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/acer-cloudmobile-hands-on-at-mwc-2012/">Acer CloudMobile hands-on at MWC 2012 (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 19:47:00 EDT. Getting the tool up and running takes quite a bit more work than your average browser add-on, requiring you to edit the Chrome shortcut to disable SSL error warnings, but it's hardly rocket science. This should make sideloading apps much easier and give you a chance to try software yourself, even if a developer seems to think its app wont work with your device. There is, of course, room for abuse and it does violate the Market's ToS -- so try it at your own risk. If you're unfazed, hit up the source link for complete instructions.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/download-apks-from-the-android-market-with-a-chrome-extension/">Download APKs from the Android Market with a Chrome extension</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 19:33:00 EDT. Chase, Capital One and Barclaycard confirmed today that they'll each support the NFC-based service and let folks load their credit, debit and prepaid cards into their Isis Mobile Wallet, joining <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/20/isis-adds-visa-mastercard-american-express-to-mobile-payment-l/">existing partners</a> Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Unfortunately, any specific launch details beyond that still remain a bit on the light side, with Isis only promising that a national rollout will follow sometime after the initial trial launch.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/chase-capital-one-and-barclaycard-join-as-launch-partners-for-i/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Chase, Capital One and Barclaycard join as launch partners for Isis mobile payment service</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/chase-capital-one-and-barclaycard-join-as-launch-partners-for-i/">Chase, Capital One and Barclaycard join as launch partners for Isis mobile payment service</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 18:56:00 EDT. Mozilla hasn't exactly been keeping quiet, though. The company announced a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/16/mozilla-offers-gaia-ui-first-look-will-reveal-boot-to-gecko-par/">pair of partners</a> on the web standards-based mobile OS: Telef&oacute;nica and Deutsche Telekom. The German parent company of T-Mobile will be lending members of its Innovation Labs team to the development of the project. Telef&oacute;nica will be bringing hardware to the equation. It revealed plans to build "open web devices" based on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/boottogecko">B2G</a> for release this year. Qualcomm and Adobe are also throwing their weight behind the HTML5 platform. Before the week is through we should be able to scrounge up a few more details and spend some hands-on time with the OS.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/mozilla-partners-with-telefonica-and-deutsche-telekom-to-further/">Mozilla partners with Telefonica and Deutsche Telekom to further Boot to Gecko project</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 18:29:00 EDT. One of our favorites is coming back on the air, while a couple of brand new shows also compete for our attention. Look below for the highlights this week, followed after the break by our weekly listing of what to look out for in TV, Blu-ray and videogames.<br /><br /><strong> Daytona 500</strong><br />Yes, again. The Great American Race has been bumped to Monday night, and could even slide to Tuesday if the rain in central Florida doesn't let up by tonight. Hopefully they get the race in, seeing NASCAR's premiere race under the light's is sure to be a wild affair, if they can get in all 500 miles.<br />(February 27th, Fox, 7PM)<br /><br /><strong>Psych</strong><br />One of our favorite shows, it features fake psychic detective Shawn Spencer and his best friend Gus bumbling their way through various murder investigations. This usually includes a pineapple and multiple 60s/90s references, so if that sounds like your kind of procedural, you should be watchin this week as it returns from midseason hiatus with guest star Cary Elwes again filling the role of master art thief Despereaux.<br />(February 29th, USA, 10PM)<br /><br /><strong>Awake</strong><br />If that's not your kind of detective show, try this one on for size. NBC's latest attempt features Detective Michael Britten alternating between two different worlds after a tragic car crash, where in one he and his wife survived, while in the other he and his son are the only survivors. The hook seems to be figuring out which one is the dream and which is real, while of course solving various murders the whole time.<br />(March 4th, NBC, 10PM)<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/must-see-hdtv-february-27th-march-4th/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Must See HDTV (February 27th - March 4th)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/must-see-hdtv-february-27th-march-4th/">Must See HDTV (February 27th - March 4th)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 17:47:00 EDT. Well, you may have to wait a bit longer. <em>Financial Times</em> is reporting that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Intel/">Intel's</a> new 22nm processor has been pushed from April to June. The site caught up with executive VP and chairman of Intel China Sean Maloney who said that the manufacturing methods used to make the heir to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SandyBridge/">Sandy Bridge</a> was to blame for the change in schedule. Furthermore, a spokesperson for the component manufacturer communicated that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/05/leaked-intel-roadmap-hints-at-ivy-bridges-future/">Q2 shipping plans</a> for Ivy Bridge remain the same. You can rest assured we'll be keeping a close watch on this one and what the delay could mean for upcoming laptop releases.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/intel-delays-ivy-bridge-launch-june/">Intel reportedly delays Ivy Bridge launch until June, manufacturing process to blame</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 17:29:00 EDT. We've known about its dual Cortex-A15 and Cortex-M4 architecture since this time <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/07/ti-announces-omap-5-two-high-performance-and-two-low-power-core/">last year</a>, but we didn't know that those M4 cores are there to handle real-time processing of multimedia -- like video encoding and decoding -- which TI claims can provide up to ten percent power savings. Additionally, the company's wunderkind SoC will pack a dual-core <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/18/imagination-technologies-unveils-series-6-powervr-gpus-promis/">PowerVR</a> SGX544 GPU and a dedicated 2D hardware-accelerated composition engine to deliver great graphics <em>and</em> lower power consumption than other mobile silicon solutions. OMAP 5 also comes with a multi-tasking image signal processor that can use up to four image sensors at the same time, or take 1080p 60fps video while snapping 12-megapixel stills simultaneously. So, you ready for a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/23/omap-5s-dual-a15-cores-wipe-the-floor-with-four-a9s/">super-speedy OMAP 5</a> chip in your next smartphone yet? Those who are still skeptical can peruse the PR after the break for a full rundown of its considerable capabilities.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/ti-reveals-more-omap-5-details-at-mwc-2012/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TI reveals more OMAP 5 details at MWC 2012</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/ti-reveals-more-omap-5-details-at-mwc-2012/">TI reveals more OMAP 5 details at MWC 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 17:11:00 EDT. Two new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/07/amd-ships-16-core-bulldozer-chips-for-servers-makes-consumers-w/">Bulldozer-powered</a> FX CPUs will join the pantheon of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/04/bulldozer-world-record-re-broken-by-andre-yang-with-a-8-58ghz-vi/">world-record</a> beating chips in the company's constant fight against the forces of Intel. The quad-core FX-4170 has a 4.2GHz CPU with 4.3GHz Turbo mode (for more on AMD's Bulldozer architecture, see <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/23/more-details-emerge-on-amds-bulldozer-for-high-end-desktops/">here</a>) while the six-core FX-6200 has a 3.8GHz base clock and a 4.1GHz Turbo mode. Availability will vary by region as the company shuttles out the new silicon on a rolling timeline, but we'd start keeping our eyes peeled next time you're down the shops. To celebrate, AMD is hacking down the price of the top-end <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/12/amd-fx-processor-brings-eight-cores-to-battle-we-go-eyes-on-vi/">FX-8150</a> from $245 to $185 and you should see a similar price drop from outlets filter through shortly. Well, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/10/mercedes-benz-intros-mbrace2-at-ces-brings-apps-to-the-car/">Mercedes-Benz</a> is doing just that will an update to the COMAND system in A-Class autos. With the aid of two apps -- Digital DriveStyle and Drive Kit Plus for iPhone -- you'll be able to access your Apple smartphone's contents via a built-in display and navigate that iTunes library with an armrest-mounted Controller. Siri will be riding shotgun as the personal assistant can be accessed through the onboard system to send messages, select music, check the weather and schedule meetings. The aforementioned smartphone integration will be available through the entry-level "Audio 20" configuration. Digital DriveStyle is available for as a free and also touts Garmin navigation, AUPEO! radio, Facebook, Twitter and a Car Finder. While the new tech is only rolling out in A-Class right now, MB says that the B-, C- and E-Class autos will get cozy with your iPhone this fall. More details await in the PR below.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/mercedes-benz-updates-a-class-infotainment-system-focuses-on-ip/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mercedes-Benz updates A-Class infotainment system, focuses on iPhone and Siri integration</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/mercedes-benz-updates-a-class-infotainment-system-focuses-on-ip/">Mercedes-Benz updates A-Class infotainment system, focuses on iPhone and Siri integration</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 16:27:00 EDT. Naturally, the rumor mill has amped up accordingly -- in fact, given the amount of news we've seen hit the wire regarding the phantom product, the only thing that would genuinely surprise us would be if Cupertino just opted to pull out of the tablet space altogether. Given the sort of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/23/npd-apple-grabs-over-a-quarter-of-the-mobile-pc-business-in-q4/">sales figures</a> the company has been seeing as of late, its seems a pretty safe bet that the company is confident that the old slate's still got a little bit of steam left in her.<br /><br />Yep, the one thing we feel pretty confident in saying at the moment is that Apple most likely has a new iPad in the works and it's most likely coming fairly soon. It also seems like a pretty safe bet that the company goes with the iPad 3 name -- but hey, we've been <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/07/iphone-5-4s-the-rumor-roundup/">burned there</a> before. If the rumors flooding in from the likes of <em>Digitimes</em> and <em>The Wall Street Journal</em> are to be believed, the slate will bring with it faster internals, a higher res screen, a tapered back and a general smattering of Apple's customary pixie dust. So, what can we expect from the third iteration of the company's crazy popular slate? Not even <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/22/samsung-denied-preview-of-ipad-3-iphone-5-in-ongoing-apple-infr/">Samsung</a> knows for sure, but we're breaking down the fire hose of rumors after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/ipad-3-rumor-roundup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>iPad 3 rumor roundup</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/ipad-3-rumor-roundup/">iPad 3 rumor roundup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 16:00:00 EDT. Once a VNC-enabled vehicle and Android handset are paired, users can access and manipulate the device's applications, music library and stream web content directly to the car's infotainment system. In order to preserve public safety, and meet "regulatory requirements," the system can detect vehicle velocity and will revoke the proverbial keys to your mobile kingdom while you're in motion. The RealVNC code will be bundled with "all new 2012 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/xperia">Xperia</a> handsets" and the accompanying VNC Automotive software has -- according to the press release, anyway -- "been widely adopted by the automotive industry." What's more, the VNC goodies will allow Sony support specialists to troubleshoot your Xperia handset remotely, should you request such assistance. Mosey on past the break for a look at the full announcement.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/realvnc-teams-up-with-sony-to-bring-android-apps-to-the-dashboar/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>RealVNC teams up with Sony to bring Android apps to the dashboard</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/realvnc-teams-up-with-sony-to-bring-android-apps-to-the-dashboar/">RealVNC teams up with Sony to bring Android apps to the dashboard</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 15:46:00 EDT. With that in mind, it certainly makes sense that a store like Best Buy would be taking the last gen product off its displays. The big box retailer has already reduced iPad 2 prices by a cool $50, apparently to make way for the big number 3, and now we've gotten a note from a blue shirted tipster, saddling the slate (known here as the MCQSULL/A W) with a "Deleted" status. What you're looking at is the entry for the white 32GB model, but we're told other models have been similarly flagged. Granted, we know that this isn't exactly a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/08/current-macbook-pro-sku-given-mark-of-death-in-best-buy-database/">definitive statement</a> on Best Buy's part by any means, but it's certainly been a harbinger of Apple product launches in the past.<br /> <br /> [Thanks, anonymous]</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/best-buy-pulling-ipad-2-from-display-to-make-way-for-ipad-3/">Best Buy pulling iPad 2 from display to make way for iPad 3?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 15:28:00 EDT. The first paying passengers journey aboard the vehicle at midday today, which was designed in London and built in Ireland, ending a process that started in July 2008. A further seven of the hybrid buses will arrive at a rate of one every fortnight until the fleet (of eight out of the 68 needed for the route) is complete at the end of May. The fuel-efficient vehicle gets 11.6mpg, nothing to your average <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/prius/">Prius</a>, but a miracle to a city whose buses normally average half that. It will also mark a return for the good old Bus Conductor, except all they'll be responsible for is ensuring people board and exit safely from that legendary rear door -- if you want a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/07/oyster-card-rfid-hack-gets-detailed/">ticket</a>, you'll still have to talk to the driver.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/london-eco-routemaster/">London's Eco-Routemaster launches today, magical mystery tour ends in Clapton</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 14:49:00 EDT. The most recent report from <em>The Wall Street Journal</em> says that Ma Bell is planning a service that will enable app devs and other content providers to pay the carrier for subscriber's data usage. AT&amp;T's head of network and technology said today that "A feature that we're hoping to have out sometime next year is the equivalent of 800 numbers that would say, if you take this app, this app will come without any network usage." Donovan goes on to say that interest is swirling from companies that offer services like streaming music and video that feed on a steady diet of data and that the carrier's rollout of LTE would make the new service possible. Imagine if your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/spotify/">Spotify</a> habit didn't eat up a chunk of your precious monthly allotment. Sounds pretty good, eh? We're going to withhold judgment to see what mobile services adopt the new plan and continue to keep our Yacht Rock playlist(s) to a minimum.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/atandt-app-developers-pay-for-data/">AT&amp;T service in the works to let app developers pay for users' data use</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 14:27:00 EDT. Specifically, the quartet has gone further with the chip aspect. They've tested an "engineering sample" of a large-scale integration chip (pictured) for modems in mobile devices, and claim that it uses twenty percent less juice than larger two-chip designs. That consolidation, also makes it cheaper to produce. Past that, the chip has successfully provided "interconnectivity between the mobile networks of major vendors," getting it a step closer to production. The silicon lets modems play nice with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/30/sprint-clearwire-among-companies-asking-for-td-lte-standard-in/">FDD-LTE, TDD-LTE,</a> GSM, W-CDMA and HSPA+, specifically, and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/lte-advanced/">LTE-Advanced</a> support is in the cards for the future. Although Panasonic, DoCoMo, NEC and Fujitsu are the main partners, other "major players" are said to be on board for a "joint venture," with the goal of commercializing it in countries outside of (and including) Japan. The word's mum on when we can expect the chip to make it past the sampling phase, but in the meantime, hit up the press release after the break for more knowledge.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/panasonic-docomo-nec-and-fujitsu-create-ip-for-multi-standard/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Panasonic, DoCoMo, NEC and Fujitsu create IP for multi-standard LSI chip; supports LTE, GSM, W-CDMA and HSPA+</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/panasonic-docomo-nec-and-fujitsu-create-ip-for-multi-standard/">Panasonic, DoCoMo, NEC and Fujitsu create IP for multi-standard LSI chip; supports LTE, GSM, W-CDMA and HSPA+</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 14:05:00 EDT. No longer, as the chip manufacturer outed a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/intel-details-medfield-plans-announces-a-trio-of-phone-friendly/">trio of those very handsets</a> today at its MWC event. Of particular note is the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/lava-brings-intel-based-smartphones-to-india-with-the-xolo-x900/">Xolo by Lava</a>, a 4.03-inch, single-core unit running a mostly stock build of Gingerbread and destined for the Indian market. We spent time getting to know the device, so follow on past the break as we parse through its finer qualities.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-xolo-x900-by-lava-hands-on/">Intel's Xolo X900 by Lava hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-xolo-x900-by-lava-hands-on/#4849208"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012xolo0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-xolo-x900-by-lava-hands-on/#4849216"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012xolo1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-xolo-x900-by-lava-hands-on/#4849217"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012xolo2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-xolo-x900-by-lava-hands-on/#4849218"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012xolo3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-xolo-x900-by-lava-hands-on/#4849219"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012xolo4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/intels-xolo-x900-by-lava-hands-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Intel's Xolo X900 by Lava hands-on</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/intels-xolo-x900-by-lava-hands-on/">Intel's Xolo X900 by Lava hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 13:47:00 EDT. The decision seems to be making waves in the U.S. Justice Department. Andrew Weissmann, FBI General Counsel, says some of the devices have been difficult to retrieve, as the vehicles they were once tracking now move undetected. The FBI has sought temporary permission to reactivate some of the devices to locate and retrieve the hardware. Weissmann says the FBI is also developing new guidelines regarding the legality of its agent's actions -- from the application and use of tracking devices, to the extent a suspect's garbage can be searched before the agent is committing trespass. In short, the FBI is working <em>really</em> hard not to violate your legal right to privacy. If you happen to find something weird under you car, give 'em a call. But Motorola wants to remind you that Android has a voice control app of its own and argues it's better than its iPhone 4S exclusive competition. In a series of videos, which we've embedded after the break, Moto pits <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/voiceactions">Voice Actions</a> against Siri on a trio of handsets -- the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/27/motorola-atrix-2-review/">Atrix 2</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/15/motorola-photon-4g-review/">Photon 4G </a>and Electrify. A faceless taskmaster tells the handset to send a text, pull up driving directions and load a website. In each of the tests, Voice Actions bests the polite lady inside the iPhone and gets crowned the champ. Though, we can't help but think things would have turned out differently if the competition involved finding the meaning of life.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/motorola-pits-voice-actions-against-siri-claims-to-take-the-tit/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Motorola pits Voice Actions against Siri, claims to take the title belt (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/motorola-pits-voice-actions-against-siri-claims-to-take-the-tit/">Motorola pits Voice Actions against Siri, claims to take the title belt (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 13:11:00 EDT. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/26/orange-santa-clara-intel-medfield/">Santa Clara</a> is powered by the Intel Atom Z2460 processor, clocked at 1.6GHz. It does have 2011's Gingerbread kind of Android, but Orange is promising to bring ICS to the phone soon after launch -- in fact an Intel spokesperson told us that it's already had Android 4.0 running on these devices. There's a few differences between this and the Xolo X900 by Lava -- so we've given it a judicious investigation at Intel's big launch party. You'll find our hands-on video and impressions right after the break.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-orange-branded-medfield-device-hands-on/">Orange Santa Clara hands-on at MWC 2012</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-orange-branded-medfield-device-hands-on/#4848932"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012intelorangesantaclara0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-orange-branded-medfield-device-hands-on/#4848934"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012intelorangesantaclara1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-orange-branded-medfield-device-hands-on/#4848935"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012intelorangesantaclara2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-orange-branded-medfield-device-hands-on/#4848936"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012intelorangesantaclara3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/intels-orange-branded-medfield-device-hands-on/#4848937"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012intelorangesantaclara4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/orange-santa-clara-hands-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Orange Santa Clara packs Intel power, we go hands-on at MWC 2012 (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/orange-santa-clara-hands-on/">Orange Santa Clara packs Intel power, we go hands-on at MWC 2012 (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 13:03:00 EDT. For the most part, you'll see the <a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=site%3Aengadget.com%20transformer%20prime&amp;source=web&amp;cd=8&amp;ved=0CHkQFjAH&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.engadget.com%2F2011%2F12%2F01%2Fasus-eee-pad-transformer-prime-review%2F&amp;ei=AcBLT57ECqLK0QX4q-CrDg&amp;usg=AFQjCNFRfZ5QfH_be8BPKKeDustNsd5tFA&amp;cad=rja">Transformer Prime</a> (the first quad-core tablet, don'tcha know) outputting video and 3D games. But look closely and you'll find something a little less expected. Hidden among all those spun metal Primes is an unannounced Toshiba-made tablet, one with an odd, in-between screen size we haven't seen it use in its Thrive line. Specifically, it's that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/10/toshiba-13-and-7-7-inch-tablet-prototypes-hands-on/">7.7-inch prototype</a> we saw at CES, only the fact that it's here at NVIDIA's booth makes us think it would be too late for Toshiba to change its mind and pull the plug on this.<br /> <br /> Certainly, it's far enough along that it now has confirmed specs. According to an NVIDIA rep, this has a 7.7-inch, 1280 x 800, Super AMOLED (!) panel, and runs NVIDIA's 1.5GHz Tegra 3 chip. And while NVIDIA isn't exactly broadcasting the name, a quick glance at the settings confirmed its current alias is the AT270, which would certainly make for a logical followup to the AT200. (A quick glance at the settings also confirms it's running ICS -- a vanilla version, at that -- but any self-respecting tech writer would know that instantly.)<br /> <br /> It would also seem that Toshiba is feeling pretty confident about the design we saw at CES, because barely anything has changed. For starters, it's thin -- thin on the level of the 10-inch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/08/toshiba-excite-x10-tablet-coming-to-the-us/">AT200</a>. Which is to say, it's skinny in the wide world of tables, but especially so next to one of those chubby <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Toshiba+Thrive/">Thrives</a>. The build quality also seems to have improved. Gone is the ridged plastic backing that makes the Thrives so recognizable, and in its place there's... more plastic. Still, it manages to not feel chintzy or poorly made -- think of the kind of finely textured plastic you'll find on the back of any Samsung Galaxy handset. Also on board: dual cameras of unknown resolutions, as well as an exposed microSD slot, volume rocker, 3.5mm headphone jack and USB socket. So there you have it. We've got spy shots below, so you can refuse to be surprised when this thing finally makes it to market.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/toshiba-at270-prototype-hands-on-at-mobile-world-congress-2012/">Toshiba AT270 prototype hands-on at Mobile World Congress 2012</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/toshiba-at270-prototype-hands-on-at-mobile-world-congress-2012/#4848809"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09911-1330363801_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/toshiba-at270-prototype-hands-on-at-mobile-world-congress-2012/#4848808"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09912_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/toshiba-at270-prototype-hands-on-at-mobile-world-congress-2012/#4848807"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09913_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/toshiba-at270-prototype-hands-on-at-mobile-world-congress-2012/#4848806"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09914_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/toshiba-at270-prototype-hands-on-at-mobile-world-congress-2012/#4848805"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09918_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/that-7-7-inch-toshiba-tablet-we-saw-at-ces-its-called-the-at27/">That 7.7-inch Toshiba tablet we saw at CES? Like the Orange phone, this new XOLO X900 is based on Intel's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/10/intel-demos-medfield-based-smartphone-reference-design-at-ces-v/">reference design</a>, and packs a 1.6GHz Atom Z2460 processor, a high-res 4-inch display (presumably the same 600 x 1024), front and rear-facing cameras, support for HSPA+ networks, built-in NFC, and HDMI connectivity -- plus what appears to be stock Android 2.3 for an OS, with no mention of a possible ICS upgrade just yet. Still no firm word on launch details for the phone either, but Intel says it's expected to be available early in the second quarter of this year.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/lava-brings-intel-based-smartphones-to-india-with-the-xolo-x900/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Lava brings Intel-based smartphones to India with the XOLO X900</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/lava-brings-intel-based-smartphones-to-india-with-the-xolo-x900/">Lava brings Intel-based smartphones to India with the XOLO X900</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 12:34:00 EDT. At <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mwc2012">Mobile World Congress</a> Intel took the wraps off its smartphone platform, ditched the code name and gave us some details on three different Atom chips destined for handsets. The Z2460 is currently shipping and serves as the heart of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/10/intel-demos-medfield-based-smartphone-reference-design-at-ces-v/">reference platform</a> that devices from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/10/lenovo-k800-intel-medfield-smartphone-hands-on/">Lenovo</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/26/orange-santa-clara-intel-medfield/">Orange</a>, Lava and ZTE are based on. The processor can hit clock speeds of 2GHz and packs an Intel XMM 6260 HSPA+ radio. The next generation part, dubbed the Z2580 will supposedly double performance and gets upgraded to an XMM 7160, which adds LTE to its cellular arsenal. Down the road Chipzilla also plans to introduce a "value smartphone" processor, dubbed the Z2000. Clocked at only 1GHz and going with a 6265 HSPA+ radio, the goal is to power Android phones that can be sold for less than $150 -- <em>unsubsidized</em>. Sounds crazy, but it's true. To bring this vision to fruition Intel has added Orange, ZTE, Lava and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/visa-paywave-hits-intel-medfield/">Visa</a> to its list of partners. Check out the PR after the break for more details.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/intel-details-medfield-plans-announces-a-trio-of-phone-friendly/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Intel details Medfield plans, announces a trio of phone-friendly Atoms</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/intel-details-medfield-plans-announces-a-trio-of-phone-friendly/">Intel details Medfield plans, announces a trio of phone-friendly Atoms</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 12:31:00 EDT. At its Mobile World Congress press conference, Intel just announced that its Medfield-based Smartphone Reference Device, the one we <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/10/intel-demos-medfield-based-smartphone-reference-design-at-ces-v/">saw previously at CES</a>, is now Visa-certified. Users will be able to tie their credit card to their handset and, once done, make secure payments to retail terminals over NFC. Your wallet of the future just got a little bit lighter.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/visa-paywave-hits-intel-medfield/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Visa certifies Intel's Smartphone Reference Device, payWave hits Medfield</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/visa-paywave-hits-intel-medfield/">Visa certifies Intel's Smartphone Reference Device, payWave hits Medfield</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 12:26:00 EDT. President Yukio Sakamoto is expected to resign as the scapegoat for the calamity as it files for protection at the Tokyo District Court. The company, founded in 1999 as NEC Hitachi Memory Inc. has produced DRAM Products since 2000. It founded three wholly-owned subsidiaries: Tera Probe, which conducted wafer probe testing, Akita Elpida Memory Inc. which handled the back-end processes of DRAM production and Rexchip Electronics Corp, which handled the front-end.<br /> <br /> After a blockbuster period of invention, a fall in prices and the global recession in 2006 forced the company to enter restructuring with a 30 billion Yen ($372.54 million) Government-backed loan. That swathe of cash was used to pump more money into investment and R&amp;D, but the combination of strong Yen and the Thailand flooding has once again forced the company to come clean about its finances. It revealed today that it had debts of 448,033 million Yen, or $5.5 billion and without the protection of the court wouldn't last too much longer. <em>Times of Japan</em> points to the strength of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/19/samsung-aggressively-aggregating-acronyms-as-emcp-assembly-activ/">Samsung's memory offerings</a> as being a big contributor to Elpida's collapse, with president Sakamoto saying that DRAM is now as cheap as a "rice ball."</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/elpida-files-for-bankruptcy-protection-as-debts-of-5-5-billion/">Elpida files for bankruptcy protection as debts of $5.5 billion are revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 12:02:00 EDT. We know, we know: it would <em>seem</em> that Engadget traveled all the way to Mobile World Congress only to get hands-on with a desktop phone, but fortunately for our pride, this device is quite the opposite. Though that earpiece would suggest otherwise, Invoxia's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/invoxia-unveils-the-audioffice-a-299-speaker-dock-for-idevices/">AudiOffice</a> is actually just a speaker dock for your iPhone or iPad, meant to boost the audio quality when you're making VoIP or even regular cell phone calls. (You can also connect a non-iOS device using the built-in Bluetooth radio.) In particular, the company hopes the dock will appeal to small businesses forgoing land lines, though we could also see someone plugging a laptop into the USB port or adding a Bluetooth keyboard -- essentially, making the iPad the centerpiece of a more stationary setup. But is all that worth $299? Check out our hands-on photos and brief demo video and you be the judge.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/invoxia-audioffice-hands-on/">Invoxia AudiOffice hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/invoxia-audioffice-hands-on/#4847972"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09901_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/invoxia-audioffice-hands-on/#4847971"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09902_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/invoxia-audioffice-hands-on/#4847970"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09903_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/invoxia-audioffice-hands-on/#4847969"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09907_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/invoxia-audioffice-hands-on/#4847968"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc09908_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/invoxia-audioffice-hands-on-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Invoxia AudiOffice hands-on (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/invoxia-audioffice-hands-on-video/">Invoxia AudiOffice hands-on (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 11:30:00 EDT. Powered by a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Qualcomm/">Qualcomm</a> 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, running Android 4.0, with a 4.3-inch qHD display, 8 megapixel af camera, WiFi, DLNA, and even NFC. The PF200 like the N910 if obviously showing its inexpensive price point through the size and quality of the housing and the choices in construction materials. While it isn't outrageously bulky, it too could do with a little slimming down, and again the back and its diamond patterned plastic feels terrible to hold. Catch a glimpse of its lack of glory in the gallery just below. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf200-hands-on/">ZTE PF200 hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf200-hands-on/#4848247"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012ztepf2001-1330355453_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf200-hands-on/#4848248"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012ztepf2002-1330355454_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf200-hands-on/#4848249"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012ztepf2003-1330355455_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf200-hands-on/#4848250"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012ztepf2004-1330355456_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf200-hands-on/#4848251"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012ztepf2005-1330355457_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/zte-pf200-hands-on/">ZTE PF200 hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 10:33:00 EDT. We don't blame you, it's a stunning piece of hardware with a set of rather lust-worthy specs. But, how does the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/26/htc-one-x-exclusive-to-atandt/">AT&amp;T version</a> stack up to its international cousin? We're happy to say, quite well. Yes, the quad-core Tegra 3 was given the boot in favor of a 1.5GHz dual-core <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/21/qualcomm-krait-s4-soc-fully-benchmarked/">Snapdragon S4</a> and an LTE radio was crammed inside, but otherwise this is pretty much the same device we saw on the floor in Barcelona. The only piece of carrier branding is an AT&amp;T logo above the gorgeous 4.7-inch 720p display. Thankfully, the design was left largely unmolested. At least at this early stage it's also blissfully free of bloatware and carrier apps, but we'd expect that to change before launch. Sadly, none of the demo units on hand at the New York showroom had SIMs in them, so we couldn't test LTE reception, and the devices weren't logged into the Market so we couldn't pull down benchmarks or a taxing 3D game. That being said, Sense 4.0 and ICS were plenty responsive and pages rendered very quickly -- even without those two extra cores. Check out the gallery below and the video after the break for more impressions.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-htc-one-x-hands-on/">AT&amp;T HTC One X hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-htc-one-x-hands-on/#4848266"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/dsc00910_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-htc-one-x-hands-on/#4848267"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/tmo2012-02-2706-18-14gal_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-htc-one-x-hands-on/#4848268"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/tmo2012-02-2706-18-37gal_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-htc-one-x-hands-on/#4848269"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/tmo2012-02-2706-19-24gal_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-htc-one-x-hands-on/#4848270"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/tmo2012-02-2706-19-29gal_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/atandt-htc-one-x-hands-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>AT&amp;T HTC One X hands-on</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/atandt-htc-one-x-hands-on/">AT&amp;T HTC One X hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 10:26:00 EDT. First take away here was the 4.5-inch 1028 x 720 HD display which was really bright and clear -- and again we were a little shocked by the dichotomy in build quality of the sets we're seeing from ZTE. Quad-band GSM radios, triple-band HSPA+ were on hand as well as an 8 megapixel rear-facing cam, all the wireless connectivity one could ask for and even an FM radio thrown in for good measure. Housing quality is fine, bezel size about on par with its neighbor in the pic above and fit and finish also looking sharp. Follow the break for some more pictures of this Android 4.0 device. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf112-hands-on/">ZTE PF112 hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf112-hands-on/#4848202"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012ztepf1121_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf112-hands-on/#4848203"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012ztepf1122_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf112-hands-on/#4848204"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012ztepf1123_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf112-hands-on/#4848205"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012ztepf1124_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/zte-pf112-hands-on/#4848206"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/mwc2012ztepf1125_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/zte-pf112-hands-on/">ZTE PF112 hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 10:07:00 EDT. There's no word on price or release date yet but the same lens with a Pentax Q mount can be had on eBay right now for $650 including shipping, so this MFT lens should be in the same range. At <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mwc2012/">MWC</a>, the company has announced a new platform that offers global internet, WiFi, satellite and Ma Bell network coverage via a single SIM. In addition to the hardware, the new tech offers worldwide diagnostic, monitoring and alert / response features for management purposes from AT&amp;T Control Center -- backed by Jasper Wireless. Glenn Lurie, President of Emerging Segments notes "Lessons learned by market leading manufacturers suggest that a single carrier supplier with a single SIM solution is often preferred over working directly with multiple regional wireless carriers." Coverage for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/">globetrotters</a> will be provided in more than 200 countries via hundreds of carriers to keep you connected -- with a few less components in tow. If you're looking for a few more details, hit the full PR below to read on.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/atandt-announces-global-coverage-via-a-single-sim/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>AT&amp;T announces global coverage via a single SIM at MWC, makes dual-wielding a thing of the past</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/atandt-announces-global-coverage-via-a-single-sim/">AT&amp;T announces global coverage via a single SIM at MWC, makes dual-wielding a thing of the past</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 09:28:00 EDT.
