Real Weddings: Christina + Brent

Christina and Brent’s wedding is the perfect example of how a little rain could never truly spoil the beauty and love of a wedding. They started their celebration outside at Rust Manor in Leesburg, Virginia, and just as their officiant said “you may kiss the bride” tiny sprinkles started falling from the sky! Luckily, their reception was held inside and guests celebrated as the rain poured down outside. There was no shortage of sunshine inside though thanks to the gorgeous, sunny florals by Holly Chapple Flowers! Smiles and spirits were certainly not dampened at this beautiful wedding as shown by these cheery photos by Genevieve Leiper Photography!

Real Weddings: Annlizbeth + Nathan

Charleston, South Carolina is one of the most beautiful and charming places on this planet and we get so very excited when we get to share a wedding from there with you! Annlizbeth and Nathan’s wedding absolutely did not disappoint. Held at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, the couple and their guests were surrounded by natural Southern charm and stately trees dripping with Spanish moss. A beautiful and cool palette of pink, ivory, and grey complemented the beautiful green of the gardens, and the floral arrangements did not overshadow the beauty of the venue. Real Weddings: Sarah + Ethan

Sarah and Ethan’s wedding was personal, intimate, and infused with Southern charm. They incorporated family photos and mementos throughout the day, placing photos of themselves as kids on each of the tables, a large screen with family wedding photos at the reception, and (my favorite) Sarah pinned a brooch worn by Sarah’s great-great-grandmother and grandmother on their wedding days to her bouquet. I absolutely love the soft pink, peach and ivory color palette of the flowers by Jan Parker! Each and every one of these photos by Yellow House Photography is more beautiful than the next!

Friday Flowers: For the Moms

Although it’s not required by etiquette, it’s customary for the parents of the bride and groom to receive flowers. For the dads, the choice is easy: a bout. For the moms? A bit more difficult. Do you go corsage? In that case, pin-on or wrist? Do you give them a mini-bouquet? So many options, many of which conjure up horrible visions of tacky prom flowers. On top of that, many moms are just way too stylish to go for something dull and outdated. In honor of Mother’s Day, I’ve rounded up some ideas for the moms to wear as they watch you walk down the aisle.

First up is the idea to attach a small flower to her clutch. Good for the moms who’d rather not fling petals across the room as they tear it up on the dance floor!

I think what makes up a corsage makes ALL the difference in whether it’s got that 90′s prom feel. Baby’s breath + spray roses = prom. Explore different, more unique options to freshen up the corsage idea, both floral and the wristlet itself. I love this pearl beaded wristlet!

How great is this gold succulent corsage, it looks like a cuff, doesn’t it? And in the one on the right, freesia and sweet pea are much better companions to roses than baby’s breath!

I think what’s most important though is to ask moms what *they* would like to wear. Perhaps his mom is uber-traditional and really wants a big pin on corsage, or your mother would prefer to carry a little nosegay than have a corsage flop around on her wrist all day? Either way, there are definitely options out there for all those stylish moms out there! Have you seen any other options that you like?

Snow White Wedding Inspiration

Elegant + woodsy = pure romance, and that’s exactly what we have here this afternoon in this shoot inspired by the one and only Snow White. April Foster Events and The Empty Vase teamed up to create a tablescape filled with decadent red, elegant gold, and natural moss elements that is exactly what I imagine if Ms. White was able to sneak away for a romantic weekend in the woods. Fairy tales are all the rage right now and lots of candied apples, mushrooms, and even dwarf details fill the shoot. I love, love, love the red and gold invitations by Jupiter and Juno! Real Weddings: Lauren + Rian

I’m not sure it gets much sweeter than Lauren and Rian’s rustic Colorado barn wedding. Yellow and green details filled the day from the flowers to the fabric used as centerpieces and even wrapped around Lauren’s bouquet. They were married under a gazebo and then the festivities moved to an outdoor garden party at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. I want to dive into the yummy looking dessert bar filled with homemade pies and tarts and crumbles by Living The Sweet Life! Such an adorably rustic wedding with sweeter than sweet photos (including an absolutely heartwarming photo of the bride and groom dancing!) by Autumn Burke Photography!

Dramatic Draping

Drapes. I’m talking about the gorgeous, etherial swags of fabric that drape, cascade, or billow around you and your loved ones on your wedding day. Whether for the ceremony or reception, adding swags of fabric can have an enormously dramatic effect on your overall decor.

I love how these provide a ton of visual interest to the ceremony, whether at the entrance or the center of the action:

Little White Dresses

What I wouldn’t have given to be a part of this “little white dress” inspired shoot by Urbane Montage Events! The flowers, the colors, the dresses, the shoes, the accessories—I truly can’t handle it. The peachy melon and aqua color palette is my absolute favorite and the bouquets by Munster Rose are to die for. The little white dresses from Flutter Boutique that are featured in this shoot would be perfect for a rehearsal, reception dress, or even a summer party! Every detail of this shoot and all the photos by Ashley Nguyen Photography are pure 100% fabulousness.
