Friday Flowers: DIY Modern Tablescape

A while ago, we shared this Modern Yellow and White Tablescape and everyone loved it so much that for today’s Friday Flowers we’ve got a tutorial for you on how to create it yourself! Designed by Dani at Studio Fleurette, this tablescape is fresh, modern, and easily modified for any style of event! Change out the type of flowers used (switch out the craspedia for roses perhaps?) and voila – a completely new look! Here’s the down-low on creating this organic, stylish tabletop.

You will need:

5 yards light burlap
2 spools of teal blue thread
teal yarn
3 white Salong vases (available here from Ikea)
4 white Persika vases (available here from Ikea)
5 assorted Numi glass candlestick holders and taper candles (available here from CB2)
12 glass votives
2 full stems of large white Phalaenopsis orchids
4 bunches of Craspedia or Billy Balls (20 to a bunch)
defoliated and dried birch branch tips
tube of Oasis floral glue

Instructions:

The runner is 15 feet long by 23 inches wide. To create the runner, I folded an inch of the burlap under and used a large condensed zigzag top stitch to create a rich strip of color. It’s important to go slowly as the burlap is thick and likes to bunch.

To recreate the look of the Salong Vases, use dry birch branch tips. They are easy to find and have a nice dark bark for contrast. You could, however, use any branch tips if there’s another type you’d prefer. Try to find some that have a curve so you can create a softer silhouette to the structures in the 3 larger Salong vases. Glue 5 or 6 of the orchids to the branches and position them so they can “sit” as naturally as possible on a branch.

To recreate the look of the Persika vases, use one bunch (approximately 20) Craspedia to a vase and arrange them loosely, creating a structure with 4 or 5 strong stems and building of that.

Alternate the types of vases on the table starting with a Persika vase with Craspedia, and then follow with the candlestick holders with taper candles. Place the couple tallest candlestick holders towards the center of the table. Place the votives randomly.

If you wish, you can reserve a few Craspedia for a napkin treatment. These also dry well and can be reused later for another craft project or decor!

Real Weddings: Brandy + Blake

In a sunset wedding at the beautiful Wild Onion Ranch in Austin, Brandy and Blake were married under the open sky and stately trees. Their ceremony was held under a wooden gazebo, accenting the rustic feel of the day. After the sun went down, guest dined and danced the night away under twinkling stars, lights, and beautiful florals by The Flower Studio by Coby Neal. Check out the fabulous shoes the bride and her bridesmaids wore! I adore this sweetly elegant wedding and all the photos by Nessa K Photography!

Vintage Hot Air Balloon Inspiration

Isn’t there just something magical about hot air balloons? Our Inspired Creations Contest concept today from Pemberley Events, Petal Play Design, Image Icon Photography and 11 Eureka Boutique was inspired by a photo of a fun-loving couple in a hot air balloon. Floating glass balls and papier-mâché hot air balloons floated above a vibrant and colorful tabletop filled with roses, tulips, and poppies. The color didn’t stop with the flowers! Along the natural runner sat colorful vases and glassware too. The seating chart was actually burlap map of the world with different colored hot air balloons showing people where to sit. Such an adorable theme and wonderful ideas for a colorful travel-inspired wedding!

Ultimate Photo Booth

It’s already so hard to resist photo booths, but add in antique details, vintage LPs, and fabulous accessories like these from Love, Lulu Mae? Sign me up! This team behind this Inspired Creations Contest put together the Ultimate Photo Booth. Guests use props like vintage hats, mustaches on a stick, sequined and feathered headbands to create photos, buttons, and even videos to post on friends’ facebook walls! Certainly, this is not your ordinary photo booth. It’s super interactive and has so many different options to play with. Doesn’t it look like so much fun?

My favorite photo from the booth? Mad props to this guy who donned blue sequins and peacock feathers.

Real Weddings: Alissa + Kyle

There’s nowhere more beautiful than sunny Charleston, SC, and its historic venues and scenery, and no better setting for Alissa and Kyle’s classic wedding than the seaside Historic Rice Mill, the only one of Charleston’s three antebellum rice mills still standing. The small terrace is a gorgeous spot for an intimate ceremony or cocktail hour, and the fabulous interior features exposed brick, wide plank wood floors, expansive double windows, and pressed tin ceilings. I adore how Alissa and Ryan enhanced the natural beauty of the venue with their natural white and brown color palette, and how they brought a bit of the seaside indoors with lantern centerpieces. I’m in love with Colette and Luke’s gorgeous rustic and romantic Austin wedding. Classic black bridesmaids dresses and sleek, modern tuxes plus gorgeous florals by Petal Pushers? Adore! The couple incorporated natural, rustic elements into their wedding without compromising the elegance of the event. My favorite detail is the aspen logs that Colette’s dad hollowed out to be used as vessels for the flowers and programs. You’re going to absolutely swoon over these gorgeous photos by La Dolce Vita Photography!

Belles and Gents Bar

Welcome to day 2 of the Indie Wed Inspired Creations Contest! The incredible team involved in today’s shoot created an amazing and beautiful idea, a ”Belles and Gents Bar”. Picture this: one day, wives crash an old-school gentlemen’s club bringing in big beautiful blooms and brightly colored details to freshen up the usual decor of cigars, highball glasses, aged scotches, and decanters. SQN Events stocked the bar with his and hers drinks (homebrews and sweet tea) from Femme du Coupe personalized by Courtney Callahan Paper and treats like chocolate-covered cigars and bourbon-infused brownies from truffle truffle. Fleur never disappoints with their stunning florals and these peony, ranunculus, and cotton arrangements are absolutely some of my favorites! Love this brilliant idea and beautiful photos by the wonderful Simply Jessie Photography!

Real Weddings: Lindsey + Michael

Lindsey and Michael were married at the beautiful Heavenly Scent Herb Farm in Fenton, Michigan. The gorgeous, sprawling grounds of the venue are filled with sweet smelling herbs and flowers and were a stunning backdrop to their romantic garden wedding. I’d absolutely love to spend an afternoon here! Kathy, the owner of the farm, also helped out by creating the beautiful bouquets out of fresh hydrangea and herbs from around the farm. Such a pretty wedding with lovely photos by Jennifer Grant!

French Tea Party Dessert Table

We were so thrilled to have The Sweetest Occasion and Elizabeth Anne Designs team up with Chicago’s most fabulous bridal show, Indie Wed, to hold the first-ever in person Inspired Creations Contest! Teams of Chicago wedding vendors submitted inspiration boards for the event, and 6 talented teams were chosen to exhibit their Inspired Creations Contest concept at Indie Wed in January. In addition to the brides’ and grooms’ on site voting, votes from the EAD and TSO blog readers will be counted, so weigh in on your favorites!

The first gorgeous concept we’re going to highlight is a French tea party dessert table from Julia Franzosa Photography, Naturally Yours Events, Mignonette Bridal, and Luscious Layers Bakery! When shoots like this highlight the yummy treats and natural beauty of the French countryside it’s really hard not to drop everything and start packing! This sweet shoot is filled with feminine touches and rustic textures like lace details on the cake and the gorgeous handmade backdrop.

Friday Flowers: Sweet Pea

We’re closing out the week with the first of a new series of posts here at Elizabeth Anne Designs: Friday Flowers! I think there’s really nothing better than leaving for the weekend with a beautiful selection of flowers to look at, right? For our first edition, we’re going to be featuring the sweet and ruffly sweet pea! In pinks, whites, or purples, each shade is just as lovely as the next and oh boy do they smell divine.

They are sweet and simple by themselves as a centerpiece:
