I took the boys for a long scoot around the neighborhood last Sunday morning. I've found the street around home to provide their own "skate park" of sorts. Mini table tops created over the concrete division of two driveways. Or the little ramp on the gutter or jump off the side of the drain.

The boys loved it and I was able to admire all the beautiful homes and quirky industrial spaces down by the Seaworks site. I love having the water close by, watching the cargo ships coming and going, the low dull drone of their horns and the sleekness of the Spirit of Tasmania as it makes its daily voyage.

It's fair to say I love my new neighborhood for many reasons. So much so, I've started another blog specifically about Williamstown and its surrounds. You can read more at www.threezeroonesix.com

Loved the East Coast of Tasmania. Highlights being Coles Bay, Wine Glass Bay, fish and chips in Dunalley, Great Oyster Bay Swimming at Swansea and homemade strawberry and raspberry ice cream from a small shack off the main road to Bicheno.

I read this quote today and it resonated with me. We've been enjoying a lovely, simple break away in Bright with family. Making new memories in a new family dynamic. My feeling of contentedness is palpable. It's been so nice to just relax, watch the kids play, cook with the 'older ladies', read a book, go to bed early and spend lazy afternoons by the river.

2013 is going to be a very different year for me. One of many changes. Three years have past since my life as I knew it changed forever and I can now say despite the pain it was one of the best things to ever happen to me. I have a new appreciation for so much and a new understanding of what actually matters in life. I'm looking forward to our future.

I visited Tessuti Fabrics this week in Flinders Lane Melbourne. I have to say, that it is the best customer service I've had in a long time. The girls in there are friendly and attentive. The space is light, airy and the fabric laid out in a logical and neat fashion. Beautiful fabrics! Such a pleasure to shop there. If only I could sew my own clothes!

A Different Perspective

So this is Melbourne, from the other side of the bridge. It's kind of a metaphor for the way my life is heading. Looking at things with a new perspective, fresh eyes. I like it. I like this new approach to life, how I see things and how the future is looking. I've packed up my house for the third time in as many years. I've begun reading about living a minimalist life. I've thrown away, gifted, e-bayed, op-shopped I'd say over half of my possessions. I've still got more to go. I've lost my attachment to many "things" and realised life is in the relationships I create and my lasting legacy will be in the lives of my children and the people that I love. I'm in transition, but plan to move to a tiny space, with less stuff, less commuting, less driving, less stress and more living.

I noticed my shadow this morning whilst walking to the tram stop. I'm trying to be more mindful and present in the moment. It's difficult. So many distractions often keep me from just being. Thinking about the kids, work, my business, the weekend and all the things that need to be done. As I watch the boys grow and see them start to have different interests and asking interesting questions, I realise how quickly the last eight years have gone. Gone with those years have been my own years as I head into my late thirties. It's difficult to believe, because at times I still feel like my teenage self, but on reflection I am turning into an (almost) middle aged woman that has been through the absolute highs and lows of life. I'm still here. Survived to tell the tale. I'm healthy. I'm newly vegetarian. On most days, I'm relatively content with my life. Check out this article at Zen Habits for living an intentional life.

We spent a long weekend in Hobart this weekend. I'm in love and would move there tomorrow! The calm, unhurried, tranquil peace. Being so close to the water, the fresh produce at the market, the quaint homes. We also visited MONA which left us both speechless. Will definitely go back there as we didn't spend nearly enough time.
