For a photographer it is just not profitable to spend the time photographing a session and spend all of those additional hours sorting and processing the resulting images if the client only purchases a couple of 8X10’s or 5X7’s.  When that happens I liken it to working a 10 hour or more work day and only getting paid for one or two hours.  That is considered a loss.   So to ensure some compensation for the hard work put into a project most photographers charge a higher a la Carte’ print cost but create “packages” or “collections” that lower the “per print” cost, making it more affordable for a client to order quantities of prints and/or product while allowing the photographer to run a profitable business.  When clients order one of my collections I can continue to exist as a business,  pay my overhead, my personal bills, and eat while serving each client with a valuable product.  And I can plan on being their photographer next year, too, if they want.   If they all order only one 8X10 or a couple 5X7’s and nothing else I pretty much worked without pay and we all know that someone who continuously works without pay will eventually go out of business.  I hope this explains some of the costs of good, professional portrait photography done by a legitimate business.

Requirements:

• I’m looking for a guy who is willing to do this, not forced by a parent.  Willingness makes all the difference.   : )
• Preferably he will be involved or educated in some type of activity such as a skateboarding,  music, hunting, sports,  something we can portray in some of the shots.  It does not have to be a popular theme that you see in photographs all over.  It can be something off the wall.
• He and his parents will need to sign a model release so I have the option to use his photos online and/or in print promotions.
• He will need to sign a contract/agreement stating that he is willing to work for prints and possibly earn more on commission.  Of course you can see the contract before making a decision.
