It’s with a heavy heart that I have to write that Jun Seba a.k.a Nujabes has passed away and has left many fans, including myself, with an empty void left to be filled. It was announced just today but apparently Jun was in a fatal car crash on February 26 and his family had a private burial which is why its only today that it has been confirmed. His death was confirmed by his long time friend Shin02 and he had this to say:

Through his soulful music, Nujabes has touched so many people around the world, even beyond his dreams. He was a mysterious character to most as he avoided the public limelight, rarely conducted interviews, so only a few got to know the man behind the signature production. Yet it continued to amaze me how young listeners of all backgrounds learned of his enigmatic name, and expressed support for his music.

I never got to see Nujabes live but i’ve been a fan of his music for quite a while ever since I heard some of his production in Samurai Champloo. Jun’s production skills are unmatched and you can instantly recognize a Nujabes beat even if you hadn’t heard a track of his before. He was one of the first producers that I felt mixed Jazz perfectly with Hip-Hop because it had been done before but no one has or ever will do it as well as Jun and he’s one of the main reasons I got into chill/lounge hip-hop beats in the first place. Nujabes died February 26, 2010 and he was 36 years old. Holy Fuck announced a little while ago that their new single could be found by searching the awesome (disgusting) website, Chatroulette. Their music is epic, just as their profane name suggests. “Latin America” is no exception, as the track leads us through a whirlwind of heavy drums and synths. This week, Annie brings us the latest tracks from the likes of  Pendulum, Hot Chip, and Grum as well as Erol Alkan & Boys Noize’s latest collaboration; Lemonade. This week’s show also features 2 brand spankin’ new minimixes from Cassius and Audio Bullys in addition to a film soundtrack dance-off.

Pendulum are all set to come back large this year with their latest studio album, Immersion dropping on May 24th with a live tour  of the UK to follow. They’ll be on a DJ set tour of the US and Canada throughout March and April in support of the album release.

There continues to be an outpouring of love for Fenech Soler from Radio 1, this week with Annie jumping on the bandwagon. Their latest single ‘Stop & Stare’ is due out in the UK on April 19 with remixes from Mighty Mouse, Tony Senghore, Reset, and Jaymo & Andy George.

Rusko’s Woo Boost has finally just seen it’s release on Mad Decent after being hammered in the clubs for the past year, at least. It’s Rusko’s first release on the label, but expect lots more in the coming year from the Leeds native. He also contributed a significant amount of production to M.I.A’s forthcoming album, due out sometime this year.

Erol & Boys Noize’s newest collaboration ‘Lemonade’ also saw it’s radio premiere, with a phoner from Erol to talk about what went into the track.

Green Label Sound blessed us with a new track from the 80’s synth god himself, Alan Palomo, the brains behind the bastard child Neon Indian. The track is called “Sleep Paralysist,” it was recorded and produced in collaboration with Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear in Brooklyn at Taylor’s elusive musical dungeon, Terrible Studios.

This is Neon Indian’s first new offering since the release of his critically acclaimed debut album Psychic Chasms last October. The track is a little more glossy then what we’re regularly accustomed to from Alan, but again its nothing short of amazing and in no way disappoints. Listening to the track however only makes me hurt inside and feen for more.
