After our premiere event at the M-Room last month, we gathered a list of suggestions/concerns from our Art-Monkeys. We are 100% committed in making sure that our recent change to our new venue works out for everyone.

We are hard at work in the lighting arena and are making sure that the models will be lit well for our next session. Getting used to the new set up and stage lighting is interesting, but we assure you, we’re on it! There were stage lights we didn’t use that apparently may have solved that issue. We were unaware, but are sure we’ll get it right next time for you. We are also making sure that the lighting in the artist area is a bit brighter this time so you can better see what it is you are drawing.

Another change we are making is ticket pricing. There will no longer be “Art-Monkey” and “Voyeur” ticket levels. Tickets will be listed as “General Admission” and “Guaranteed Reserved Seating”. To elaborate, there are a total of 50 seats available at our new venue. There is standing room in the back for about 10-15 people. Our capacity is 65. Most people will receive a seat, but there will be 10-15 who will be standing room. We are not able to allow people to bring along their own seats. The layout is as such due to fire code.

You have two options for purchasing tickets. They are as follows:

1) General Admission: Purchase at this level if you are sure you will arrive at the venue early or on time. Seating is first come, first served — so there is a 15-20% chance that you could be in the standing room only zone.

2) Guaranteed Reserved Seating: Purchase at this level if you are planning on attending, but know that there may be a chance of arriving a bit late and a seat is an absolute must. You may also purchase at this level, while tickets are still available, if you must have a seat in the first rows closest to the stage.

We can’t wait to see all of you November 21st for our next session! The theme is Island Sketchy’s with models TBA. Tickets will go on sale soon! We’ll let you know as soon as they do!

That’s right! If you were at last night’s session (which was nothing short of incredible) you were the first to hear the big news. Dr. Sketchy’s Philadelphia is moving to The M-Room! We’d like to send a big thank you to Fleisher and their wonderful staff for allowing us to hold our events in the Sanctuary for the past 2 years. We had a great time and enjoyed working with and getting to know you!

I’m sure some of you are wondering about our move to The M-Room and what’s in store. Well, let me tell you all about it! We’ll be starting off with a BIG BANG by celebrating our 2 year anniversary (October 17th, 8-11PM) in “Classic Hollywood Glamour” with Hellcat Girls Burlesque (models TBA)! Tickets will be available for that event very soon – stay tuned for that. We will have access to a full stage (allowing us to show off our models by putting on more mini-performances), a full bar, and food! Now you can come to Dr. Sketchy’s Philadelphia and make a night of it! Dinner, drinking, drawing and dames!

Our schedule is also changing. Instead of every 3rd Friday from 7-10PM, we are now holding our events every 3rd Saturday from 8-11PM.

The M-Room is located at 15 W. Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19123. One of the things we absolutely love about our new venue is it’s location! Now you can come to Dr. Sketchy’s Philly and let loose at the bar because public transportation drops you just about 1 block from the venue! The Market-Frankford Blue Line stops at Front and Girard! So convenient! So those of you coming from Jersey, no need to worry about parking. If we weren’t doing set dressing and having to drive in ourselves, we’d absolutely take advantage of public transportation by taking PATCO to 8th street station and hopping onto the Market-Frankford Blue Line (don’t even have to go above ground) for front door service! For those of you who prefer driving, the neighborhood offers quite a lot of parking. You’ll be surprised to find that the parking situation is nothing like the insanity of trying to find a spot in Center City.

We can’t tell you how excited we are for this event. The original Dr. Sketchy’s in Manhattan run by founder Molly Crabapple is held at The Slipper Room. We are excited to be following our founder’s original vision of what Dr. Sketchy’s is and bringing it to Philadelphia Art-Monkeys. We feel that our collaboration with The M-Room will offer up an event that will allow for Molly’s original vision to thrive.

We had a tough time this month going through all of the fantastic work submitted for The Art-Monkey of the Month competition, but we’ve finally come to a decision. The winner of free admission to our September 18th – Harem/Belly Dancing session is none other than Mr. Dane Troup! Check out his sketches above. We really appreciated his beautiful and fluid lines.
