.020709. Lunch with cousin @ Niji Sushi Restaurant

It has been a while since I last took a break from blogging and now I have so much to share with all of you!! My hands had been super itchy for the last 1 month or so. Haha. It’s good and exciting to continue to bring you more good foods around town and every part of the world.

To start off from where I left off, I just want to share this Japanese Restaurant with you that has been around for the last 7 years. It was about 2 years ago when they just move to a brand new bigger space outlet in Medan Putra, Bandar Sri Menjalara (Just next to Kepong).

*Niji Sushi Restaurant!! Apparently is the only outlet*

I thought that there food there was pretty fresh and not too expensive. (Well, basically anything meal that i don’t get to pay is not expensive) LOL. Sushi there was good and the Yiku Udon (Beef Noodle) that I had was brilliant!

Here’s what we had. Just the 2 of us…

*spider temaki or aka soft shell crab temaki*

*the beef noodle that i had.. the meat was rather tender and juicy*

I still remember my trip to Bangkok about 2 years ago and Thailand is a place where you can find a variety of food and their specialty, spicy!!.

*quietly resting away from the bustling street of SOHOKL*

*great ambience for a wonderful dinner*

2 weeks ago, I was invited to Asian Terrace located in Solaris, Mont Kiara, a promising happening spot in town to savour their authentic Thai & Vietnamese Cuisine. The restaurant has a beautiful ambience with a semi-open concept surrounded with water features and greeneries. It’s quite a chilly-relaxing place to dine in for sure.

*cheers to all alchoholics*

Asian Terrace is famous for its homemade Mieng Kam, a very special Thai delicacy where you mix the tiny ingredients yourself into a special leaf and eat it just like that!! Superb!! Their wide range of delicious mouth-watering dishes kept their regulars returning back. On top of that, the bar also serves an extensive range of beverages inclusive of wines, cocktails, premium spirits and liquors. Wine lovers can enjoy a carefully selected wine list which features some popular and well known brands.

Anyway, below are some photos to show you the food that was being served that night…

*this was my favourite for that night!!*

.260409. Rajah Brooke Cafe @ Kuchai Entreprenuer’s Park

I have never really tried much food from our neighbouring state on the East, Sabah and Sarawak. However, I do know that Sabah Chilli is one of the best and I like it very much and Sarawak’s famous Ko Lo Mee has been around for quite some time now. I never knew of any authentic Sarawak restaurant’s around though or perhaps, it was just me that didn’t take much notice on it all this while.

*comfortable, cozy and wifi available cafe!!*

Last week, I was invited to an authentic Sarawakian cafe in Kuchai’s Entrepreneur’s Park and the owner, Kenneth, with his lovely wife gave us a really warm hospitality. I was inspired when Kenneth explained a little about how he came up with the intention of starting up a Sarawakian Cuisine Cafe. His wife was from Sarawak of course but it was really the lifestyle in Sarawak that he loved so much and the authentic food that he experiences made him wanted to share it with the city folks like me and those around me.

I was there with Sidney, Sunny, Ken and also Rebecca. We started off, trying the authentic Sarawak “3 layer tea” which is quite similiar to milk tea/teh panas and I had a Blueberry Tea which is recipe of their own. Later on, we tried the pineapple blended and Sidney ordered Ginseng blended. I thought the Blueberry Tea was nice though =D

.200409. Celebrity Chef Emmanuel Stroobant “Chef In Black” @ 7atenine Kuala Lumpur

Heard of a celebrity chef by the name of Emmanuel Stroobant? If you have not, is time for you to check him out!! =D Renowned Chef Emmanuel was at 7atenine recently for their new menu launch and I was there as 7atenine’s Official Photographer. At the same time, I was honored to do a food review on some of their new dishes.

*interview sessions with the media people*

Well, if you have not already know, 7atenine is the sister company of Souled Out in Sri Hartamas and also the currently under-renovation’s WIP (Work-In-Progress) in Bangsar. Located at the heart of the city, it is surely one of the most happening bistro to hang out, if it’s not the most. It’s an iconic lifestyle destination for a quentessentially chic experience. This award winning urban outlet paves the way for a sexy new concept in the art of socialising and dining that would fulfil your satisfaction.

*michele kwok, the owner and co-founder of 7atenine*

Well known in his own TV series “Chef in Black” for his excellent culinary skills and knowledge, Chef Emmanuel performed a rather simple cooking demo at the stage together with his assistant. It was fun to watch him in action as he adds a line of joke or two in between. The both of them presented to the media 2 special dish that they introduced to 7atenine’s menu.

.190409. Food shots for new menu @ Souled Out Hartamas

It’s a great day today!! I finally got my long awaited IPod Touch all thanks to the hard work of my Nikon D300. LOL. How fun is it to know that when you got your IPod back home, opened the box and then find out that the USB cable is not inside the box?? Haha. Apparently, my friend left it at home and now I have to wait till night time before I can finally sync all the applications and music into it.

Anyway, recently, I did a product shoot for Souled Out Restaurant & Bar at Sri Hartamas. Nothing spectacular, just a plain product shoots for their new upcoming menu. It was a fun learning process as I’ve never done a serious food shot with props and natural lightings. I thank God for such great opportunity to learn. FotoworX does have some product shoots as well but I have not been able to attend one to learn just yet. LOL.

Anyway, Souled Out’s menu was categorized into a few different categories. They are Western, Local, Indian, Firewood Pizza, Desserts and Juices. Well, I did not shoot every single food that Souled Out offers but we did a few signature ones though. Just to share a bit of what Souled Out has to offer from May onwards, here are some of the yummilicious foods that you might want to try out if you have the cravings.

.140309. Thanksgiving Lunch @ Jaya Palace Restaurant

Last month, I was invited by Jane (my worship team member) and her husband for a thanksgiving lunch at Jaya Palace Restaurant. It was specially arranged for those who played a part in making their wedding a success back in November last year. After settling down with their new married life, they decided to give all of us a treat in remembering our help, big or small, during their joyous occasion.

Anyway, being unfamiliar with the name of the restaurant, I actually googled ‘Jaya Palace Restaurant’ and thank God there were many results that came out. As a matter of fact, there were many reviews that has been done over the restaurant’s food; many of them were positives. Next I googled their map and found it’s just along the road right after Asia Jaya’s Putra LRT Station (few blocks away from Menara Axis) which I thought was very easy to find and convenient to go.

*quite a posh interior design for a chinese restaurant*

Well, I must say that the restaurant does look kind of posh to me and the settings are pretty much modern chinese. We were seated in a private room where there were a LCD TV mounted on the wall with a karaoke set connected to it. And yes, did I not tell you that there’s also an attached toilet in that private room which made it super convenient for the customers.

*cool private room for private function!! sing all you want karaoke too*

I’m not too sure about the price though but I do heard alot about the dim sum there which apparently said to be quite good and reasonable. Perhaps can try the food there one day. As for their regular dishes, I must say I had quite a good meal there though eventually I left earlier for a band practise (Nuffnang Music Bash). Anyway, first had a hot & cold dishes followed by chicken & scallop soup which I super love it very, very much!!

Here’s the rest of the menu for that day before I left…

.270309. Lunch with Diese @ Ikea Cafe

I never knew much about Ikea’s food except for the famous RM1’s Curry Puff and Hotdogs right at the exit of the cashier counter. When I usually go to Ikea with my mom, we would order ourselves a combo meal, RM 2 for a puff and a bottomless drink. As for the cafe up on the 1st floor, I think I’ve only eaten there once. With only the swedish meatballs leaving an impression to me about the care, I know nuts about any other food there.

Recently, Diese came down from Penang to cover one of the Malaysian Dreamgirl session and was asked to have lunch with her. Thanks for the treat again!! LOL She is one of those who are crazy over Ikea’s food. Apparently, when she was staying around kota damansara, nearby Ikea, she goes there almost literally everyday for a meal. It doesn’t surprise me when I find out that day that the cafe is packed with customers. Looks like I’ve been missing some really good stuff there!

Anyway, Diese can really eat! LOL When she came back with the orders on the rolling tray, I was stunned. I can’t really eat that much in the morning or when I just got up. So I asked if she can finish them and only one word she replied, YES. Haha. Coolies!! Anyway, I’m not too sure about the price but I reckon it isn’t that expensive though with the amount of people eating there, it has to be fairly reasonable.

Here’s what we had that day!!

*if i’m not mistaken this one is RM10 for 10 balls with potatoes!!*

*Gravad Lax served with a yummy tangy sauce (yummy salmon)!!*

*there’s also dessert!! LOL.. i think i took a bite only.. LOL it was good!*

*seriously, i never expected they sell egg tarts as well, but diese told me its very fast selling*

There you go. If you ever dropped by Ikea which I reckon most of us does at least once in a blue moon. Do try out the food there and tell me what you think =) As far as I’m concerned, I’ve heard quite alot about their food which are positive comments!!

.110409. All You Can Eat Dim Sum @ Prince Hotel

This will be my official first update for this blog and I thought I wanted to start it big so I have decided to place in a food review that I just attended with Ken, Sidney and Sunny @ Prince Hotel just last Saturday. I have attended many food reviews but for dim sum, this is quite my first time though. On top of that, all you can eat!!

Well, Prince Hotel,a 5 star hotel, is located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur and Tai Zi Heen Restaurant to be exact, has lived up to its standard. I have been to Prince Hotel’s food review once though and tried Tai Zi Heen’s food. 2 words to describe them. Simply fantastic!!

*the award winning restaurant that would drive you crazy!!*

The award winning Tai Zi Heen has recently launched its monthly themed Dim Sum menu for lunch. Changed monthly, this unique Dim Sum menu will feature a series of dainty and intricate yet innovatie indulgences. For the month of April, Master Chef Ricky Thein and Dim Sum Chef Loo Sai Wah have created a selection of special dim sum with a Southeast Asian theme. It’s prepared based on each Southeast Asian country popular cuisine.

Southeast Asian Dim Sum a la carte menu is available for lunch daily from 12 noon – 2.30pm. If you are looking for All You Can Eat Dim Sum package, it’s priced at RM 45++ per adult and it’s available on Saturdays, Sundays & Public Holidays from 11.30am – 2.30pm.

Just to tempt you a little, here’s some of the dim sum that would really salivate your mouth right now!! LOL
