Wow I kinda forgot about this blog. Time for a new post!

This is about a "Don't Tread On Me" bumper sticker available over at Zazzle. This one is actually restyled a bit so the snake is shifted to one side and the text is made larger, so the next car over can see it. This sticker is listed in Zazzle's "featured products" page for bumper stickers, so it is quite popular. Considering there are millions of stickers on the site, that is quite an endorsement.

DIY Gadsden flag "Dont Tread on Me" credit card

I recently created a "Gadsden Flag" credit card and am pleased with the results:

Of course, the flag of the modern liberty movement being promoted on a credit card is a bit of a mixed message, since many of us Liberty types view credit cards as the liberty suppression tools of evil bankers... or a way for big brother to track us... or even as just a bad idea keeping the temption around and oppressive debt always just a few swipes away. And while I respect all of these ideas, in my personal case I use them as tools of freedom and savings-
1. I have paid off my card EVERY month Ive had one.. which is more years than I care to admit to.
2. This particular card has some excellent cash back (or miles if that's your thing) rewards, so since I pay it off every month, I'm actually saving money versus using cash.
3. Bunch of other fringe benefits, like having an electronic transaction log, and better security than a debit card etc.. but I won't bore you.

So for any other weirdos (like myself) who like this idea and want your own Gadsen card, I've done the dirty work for you. Continue reading to see how you can make your own.

How to make your very own Gadsden Flag Credit Card

1. Capital One Card Lab lets you put your own images on your credit card. You can apply for a card and apply the image all through their online Card Lab application. Get started here: https://www.capitalone.com/creditcards/cardlab/

Select the credit rating which applies for you ("Excellent", of course!). The next screen will show a bunch of options for rewards and interest rates etc.

I personally prefer cash back rewards. With cash back, you have the option to double your rewards for a category of purchases, so I selected gas and groceries.. so my options looked like this (1% cash back, 2% for gas/groceries):

On the next screen, be sure to select the "Personalize your card design" option:

OK, you'll need to pay attention for the next couple steps. The next screen you'll see is this:

Click on the "SEARCH" tab on this screen. When presented with the search box, type "Gadsden" in the search box and click search:

You should see a single result as shown in the screenshot. Click this preview and the card below will show the full card preview:

Click continue to proceed and view the full preview of your Gadsden card:

At this step, you can keep the default scale and positioning of the image on the card, or you can tweak these settings to change the appearance of the card. It's kinda tricky to manipulate the image so that the text and the snake are both positioned where the numbers and logos won't obscure them... so you may be best off just using the default settings ;) From this point you can proceed to complete your application for your new card.

Important note- the first time I applied for my Gadsden card, it was rejected... knowing how these verification processes work, I simply re-applied for the same card, and the second time succeeded. Since the image is now stored in their list of public images, I'm guessing it should be automatically approved in the future. But in case yours is rejected, you can try re-applying like I did.
