A week before the WWDC09 conference I can start showing some details about Sharecard 2 preview. The new Sharecard’s release is a major release and include many new features. The major feature is the completely redesign of the user experience because Sharecard 2 will be a part of the Contacts Manager’s family with a fully loaded sharing features. Some new details coming in the next few days!.

Announcing Records, a new Mac application for your Dock.

We are happy to speak about our next application today. The new application is named Records and runs (at this time) on the Mac platform and in future to the iPhone platform as well.

The goal of Records is to help users to organize and manage personal informations using a delicious user interface.

Records is currently in development yet and probably the first public beta will be ready for download at the end of September 2009 but today we want show you the Records application icon.

This is the first of many blog posts I have decided to write for describe the typical day of my life like Cocoa developer.

Last month I have purchased the new Unibody MacBook Pro 2.8Ghz SSD model. This is an awesome machine, I use this MBP every day at home, work and by the way hosted in my Timbuk2 Commute bag.

This is the best compromise from power to mobility. The best choose for a Cocoa developer!.

Is Mac the new PC?

Years ago, a few days after I met my husband, I knew it was love when we discovered that we both had the exact same Mac computer (true story). Back in those days (the 90’s), Mac’s were really for the “creative” types. There just did not seem to be that many Mac lovers or Mac users out there. I was getting a degree in marketing and my husband-to-be was going to music school. We were destined for Mac’s and apparently each other. In fact, it was very hard for me to understand why the heck everyone did not have a Mac.

Fast forward a few years later, degree in hand as I begin a new job designing computer based training programs. The two guys that I interviewed with both had Macs. It was a creative type firm so I thought that I was in the clear. No such luck. First day of training class, I found myself seated in front of a PC. I must embarrassingly admit now, I had no clue how to turn the thing on. I just stared at it and then excused myself to use the bathroom. I was so thankful that the instructor turned on the computer while in the restroom. I muddled my way through training dreaming of the day when I would again get to use a Mac. It never happened. At least not at this place.

Why am I sharing all of this with you? Not to bore you rather to explain my love of Macs. In my humble opinion, the beauty of everything Apple is just that; it all works together beautifully. Everything is compatible, works well and things just go together. This is how it should be. Whereas I still must have a PC for work today, I am not able to hook up my Palm work phone to my laptop which is annoying. Something is not compatible with something else but no one can really tell me what or why. So again, I just muddle through.

The popularity of the Apple brand has been increasing year after year and I love it. I love to see people discovering what I figured out years ago. People are so enamored with their iPod’s, iPhone’s, etc. and I say to them “It’s about time!” Mac is really not the new PC. Mac is a cult following that has come full circle. Apple is easily connecting the world without the huge learning curve a PC throws at you.

A new website for 2009

I guess it’s time for my first post on the new Doseido blog. Being extremely excited about working for this delicious company I should probably start explaining how it all began. After getting to know Andrea Gelati (founder and lead developer of Doseido) we had a few conversations on AIM in which he showed me the then unreleased version of the 2009 website. Wolfgang Bartelme, an extremely talented UI designer and longtime Doseido consultant had worked on the interface and had already mocked up the design. Andrea had also began to code part of the website when he offered me the job of what he likes to call a “Web Ninja”.

Andrea and I decided that it would be a good idea for me to rewrite the whole website from scratch in order to feel comfortable with the code. In addition to the rewrite I added a few details to the original design. Once the layout and markup was ready we had to choose a flexible content management system. We had narrowed it down to a few options but finally went for Expression Engine. If you don’t know what I’m talking about be sure to grab a copy over at Ellislab and give it a try. The only additional piece of software we are using for the Doseido website right now is the fantastic analytics tool by Shaun Inmann called Mint.

My work on the Doseido web has just begun and my to-do list is obtaining critical mass. We already have a roadmap planned out for the next few months including a pixel perfect attention to detail, our own support system, the integration of a new shop as well as some top secret government stuff. We are also debating on whether to optimize the site for Internet Explorer. Being a delicious software factory we are somewhat adverse to the thought but feel it’s a requirement for a modern website.

Technology Meets Parenting

New to Doseido is blogger Stacie Haight Connerty. Stacie comes with years of experience in writing and marketing. She is an Atlanta, Georgia resident, a work-at-home mother of three children and still enamored with the love of her life, husband of almost ten years, Jason. When she is not playing soccer mom, Stacie volunteers in the community and is currently serving as a contributing writer to The Junior League of Atlanta magazine, Peachtree Papers.

Stacie’s family is enamored with technology and they can often be seen standing in line waiting for the latest and greatest gadgets as they are released to the public. Her very first computer was a Mac and she knew her husband was “the one” after learning he had the exact same computer. Six Mac’s and three kids later, Stacie is on a first name basis with the employees at a local Mac store and was happy to bring her son into the mix when he received a brand new iMac for his 5th birthday. The only family fights are over who gets to play with the MacBook Air and what movie to watch on the iPod.

Stacie is excited to be a part of Doseido where she gets to play with all of the coolest technology!
