Say Goodbye to Painful Wedding Shoes With Insolia High Heel Inserts

If you knew a world-renowned podiatrist and an MIT rocket scientist had designed high heel inserts would you try them? And what if said design had received the Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association? Would that make you want to try them even more? I don’t know about you but I think they sound like something we heel addicts shouldn’t live without. The inserts, called Insolia, are the “only high heel insoles that are proven to shift weight.” And what does that do? Well, in simple terms, it allows us to wear our gorgeous shoes longer and more comfortably. You see, when we walk in our heels we’re taking unnatural toe-to-heel steps which places added pressure on the balls of our feet and causes our body to be out of balance. Insolia reverses this and shifts the weight back so we walk in the natural heel-to-toe stride. I tried a pair in my 3″ booties on my last trip to New York (where I normally walk too much to wear heels at all) and honestly, my feet hurt much less at the end of the day than I thought they would. And testing them on the crowded, uneven, (and that week end) rainy streets of NYC is probably more than was necessary. So I can only imagine how perfect they would be on your wedding day, a day when you want to look and feel your best. Plus, if you’re spending a lot of money on the perfect shoes, why take them off half way through the reception? If they’re so fabulous don’t you want to wear them all night? Forget your Maid of Honor, by the end of the big day your Insolias may end up being your new BFF. On the other hand, don’t forget about your Maid of Honor or your bridesmaids, get each of them a pair so they’ll stay your BFF’s!

After seven years working in the political hustle and bustle of D.C., Dustee Tucker realized that she was ready to move back home to Texas. And just seven months after returning down south, Dustee met a tall, Texan attorney named Justin Jenkins who swept her off her feet. One day, Dustee received an email from a colleague, asking if she and Justin would attend a weekend meet-and-greet for their company, which was to be held at The Mansion on Turtle Creek. When she and Justin arrived at The Mansion, they were escorted to what Dustee believed to be her colleague’s personal suite to prepare for the event. Upon opening the door, the couple encountered a room filled with roses and balloons. Dustee’s initial reaction? “Oh, my gosh. We are in the wrong room! This is someone else’s party!” Justin’s response? Pulling out a ring and proposing to Dustee. The couple celebrated their engagement with a romantic dinner at The Mansion, followed by a surprise champagne toast at the bar with their closest family and friends.

Just Engaged: Kristy Melasky and Riley Nail

Three years ago, Kristy Melasky and Riley Nail were merely coworkers at the luxurious Hotel ZaZa. Perhaps it was a daily dose of the hotel’s romantic setting, or maybe it was fate, but after a random night out on the town, the two recognized their spark. They’ve been inseparable ever since. The couple spent their first summer together in Dallas before Kristy moved to Maui, when they made the transition to becoming a long-distance couple. Riley made the trek to Hawaii quite often to visit Kristy for the year she was there, where they camped on beaches and islands, soaking up the Hawaiian sun. Upon her move back to Dallas, Riley was helping Kristy unpack the loads of boxes at her new home when he informed her that he had a special housewarming gift for her. What was probably the smallest box of the bunch held the greatest surprise – Riley dropped to his knee and asked Kristy to be his wife.

And this ain’t no sleazy fling. It’s full-fledged, all-out love. I wasn’t sure at first that lash extentions were quite my type but after we spent some quality time together I realized they were exactly what I had been looking for all my life. Yes, it took a long time to get them put on – about 2.5 hours BUT I was lying on a comfortable massage-type bed swaddled in cozy blankets the whole time . I’m surprised I didn’t fall asleep but Michelle was so pleasant that we chatted and chatted as if we were old friends. I didn’t realize that she was putting single lashes on (I thought they’d be clusters) until she said, “I’m gonig to count them now to make sure they are even.” She was taking so long counting I wondered what was going on. Was she just a realy slow counter? How long could it take to count to 30 or 40?

Finally she said, “Ok, there’s 102 on your left eyelid.” I was shocked! 102? Where was she putting them all? She explained to me that most people have 130-150 lashes on each eyelid and she had glued (with surgery glue that I never smelled or felt or even knew was there) one single extention to most of my lashes. As she went on to count the lashes on the other eye I began to worry that I was going to look like Cher in the seventies but I had told her I wanted them to look natural so I gave her the benefit of the doubt and waited patiently until she was done. When that time came I nervously took the mirror from Michelle and was instantly relieved! They looked fabulous!! For the next few weeks people were asking me what kind of mascara I was wearing and why my lashes were so long and why did my eyes look so good? They looked so natural that no one suspected they were (gasp!) fake. Everyone loved them. Everyone. So now that you’ve heard my love story you probably want the technical details. Here goes: they should last 3-4 weeks and after that will slowly fall off (but for a fee Michelle can fill in the gaps for $55 and you can keep the lashes going indefinitely); you can’t use any oil-based make-up or make-up removers (not a big deal, Michelle carried a great oil-free eyeliner in many colors and oil-free removers can be found at any drug store); yes, you can wear mascara but I never did because I didn’t need to; the cost is $325 for what I got – 100 lashes per eye (but you can just get them on your outer corners or to fill in bald spots or as many or few as you want) . Just Engaged: Sarah Jewell and Matt Gantt

Waiting in the security lines at the airport is never anyone’s favorite part of traveling, but it’s safe to say we all appreciate the efforts of our Homeland Security. Especially Sarah Jewell’s soon-to-be fiancé, Matt Gantt. The two were jetsetting to Mexico for a romantic getaway, and Matt’s secret plan was to propose to Sarah on the beach. Everything was going according to plan when all of a sudden Matt was nearly forced to ask for Sarah’s hand in marriage in a less romantic setting – in the security line at DFW Airport. Luckily enough, just as the guards began questioning Matt about his diamond ring in tow, Sarah happened to be pulled aside for a random security check. She never noticed the commotion caused by the ring, and the engagement went as planned. Matt surprised Sarah with a private dinner on the Mexican beach at sunset on August 15. The couple will be married next June in Dallas.

Just Engaged: Nancy Dominguez and Guy Mitchell

When Guy Mitchell told his girlfriend, Nancy Dominguez, that he was treating her to a date in Austin on August 8, she was more than thrilled. The two Texas alum couldn’t wait for a visit to their alma mater, and although Nancy thought it was simply going to be a casual day in Austin, Guy suggested she wear a dress and heels. Fortunately, Nancy didn’t give it a second thought and happily obliged. After a stroll through campus and the essential trip to the University Co-op, the couple headed to the campus Tower for a little break on the steps. And what a “break” it was. What was a normal conversation, reminiscing of fond college memories, turned into Guy falling to one knee, professing his love for Nancy while pulling an engagement ring out of his pocket. In the midst of her shock, Nancy managed to utter an enthusiastic “yes!” while Guy pointed out another trick up his sleeve: their hidden friend caught the entire engagement on camera, just like Nancy had always wanted. After a post-engagement photo shoot, the duo then escaped to brunch at Chez Zee, where both of their families were waiting to celebrate.

We Survived the D Weddings Spring/Summer 2010 Gown Shoot

Well, it took three days, 25 people, 40 dresses, thousands of dollars worth of accessories, hundreds and hundreds of photos and two Chihuahuas but we got the D Weddings gown shoot done – and if we do say so ourselves, it’s one of our best! I’d love to show you some shots here but you’ll have to wait until the issue comes out at the end of December. I know that seems far off but it will be worth it. You’ll see gorgeous designer dresses (some straight off the runway) from Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, St. Pucchi, Angel Sanchez, Romona Keveza and more.
