Gmail offers cheap solution for over flowing inbox and picasa albums

I remember Former CEO of Microsoft Bill Gates gave a very interesting statement: “The beauty of computer is it does not get heavy even if you store more”. This in fact symbolizes that data only need a physical address and location a a media for storage. Which is off course too simple. But the problem starts arising when that media is full itself.

Coming to Google it has offered many free products all the while for users which included Picasa, blogger and off course Gmail, many others. But the problems is space is limited for each users. What if I need more space when I run out of it.

Starting from today you can buy 20 GB for only $5 a year, twice as much storage for a quarter of the old price, and enough space for more than 10,000 full resolution pictures taken with a five megapixel camera. So enjoy un-interrupted storage of emails and photos with Google.

Is gmail/Google in problem again? or my pc security: getting a 404/302 error

[Note: This post hasan update (Google and Gmail were fine it was indded my network problem)...more at the below of post]

Today wen I opened up gmail to check my regular emails I got a 404 not found exception. I checked the gmail blog but there are no updates. I’m just curious whether gmail is in problem (see the screenshot below) or my wireless network security has been compromised.

Here is the screen shot of the problem:

Also when I was using Google search with Firefox 3.5 It was giving me a 302 error (see screenshot below).

Please comment on this post if you are encountering the same problem as I’m while accessing GMail/Google or my wireless network security has been compromised.

1. I think Gmail/Google were absolutely fine, It was my personal pc/network security which was compromised. We are are working to get this website right on track

2. But Im still amazed how a small malware can block my web access to Gmail (throwing an Apache 404 error ) and to Google (by throwing 302 error) ]

Gmail offers customization for offline use

To be productive in this fast paced world one must think ad act on multiple domains simultaneously. Similar to this one is the aim of gmail team who now offer selective downloading of email messages while working offline.

When you hit save, Gmail will synchronize new messages you didn’t have downloaded before and remove the ones you’re not planning to read from your hard drive.

Gmail team has come up with an excellent utility feature which allows you to view multimedia content within the email page. This inherently means that you don’t have to page up separately for the documents you get in your email.

Earlier this year Gmail had come up with a great feature to view or watch YouTube videos, Yelp reviews, and Picasa and Flickr albums within the gmail page.The latest feature in this preview series of media content includes viewing the Docs in the same page with which your Gmail is opened up.

It is is very simple and you just have to click “Show preview” and the contents of the document will display right there — no need to switch back and forth between email response and document.

Like your contact list may be temporarily unavailable, and can result in a few issues:

Google Voice integrated with Gmail

Recently Google launched a unique concept called Google Voice. Google Voice allows you to have one unique number for all your mobile commuication purposes. Now that Google Voice users can enjoy more benfits.

Earlier when Google Voice users got notified of a voicemail, a new browser window used to open up for playing. But now you can play your voicemails within gmail itself.

Moreover, your message status will stay synced: messages played from Gmail will appear as read in your Google Voice inbox and won’t be played again when you check new messages via your phone.

Google scraps ‘On behalf of’ for direct emailing through 3rd party

For those who use Gmail’s custom “From:” to send messages with one of your other email addresses listed in place of your Gmail address. Here is a good news.

Earlier when sent these messages, some (including versions of Microsoft Outlook) show them as coming “From username@gmail.com On Behalf Of customaddress@mydomain.com” which is annoying.

Now Gmail team has scrapped ‘On Behalf of’ so the message will appear as if directly coming from customaddress@mydomain.com. That’s intersting.

Update on Google Latitude & 2009 Online Marketing Challenge

Google Latitude(service that lets you and your friends share your locations with each other) is now available for iPhone and iPod touch as a web application running in Safari.

In this app:

You can see your friends location on a map and modify your privacy settings so that you control how your location is shared and with whom.

Gmail weds Spam with Unsubscribe Option for easy & fast work

From now on whenever you report spam on a legitimate newsletter or mailing list, Google will help you unsubscribe from them also.

After clicking report spam, you’ll see a little dialog with a message: ‘Unsubscribe from Newsletter‘

Clicking “Unsubscribe” will automatically send a request back to the sender so they’ll stop emailing you. Hope this works for all newsletters.

Whenever an email from your know contact comes with images comes, What the first thing you do. Obviously click on “Display Images Below”. But in daily routine you just be tired of it. So if you are a gmail users no more extra work.

Gmail has introduced this feature to automatically display images from those emails who are frequent in you contact list. Nothing major but yes if you are frequent web surfer, it will shorten your steps of viewing.

The only company or app which has remained in news inspite of world recession is Twitter. As they say your foes grows more rapidly than friends and that’s what happening for Twitter.

The Twitter blog says:

“About a month ago, an administrative employee here at Twitter was targeted and her personal email account was hacked”

So I sincerely hope no important information is leaked from the employees’ account and rest we should also follow google’s advice for strong password.

Google Voice: One number for everyone

Google today unveiled its Google Voice mobile application that will allow users to make calls directly from their phones. Those receiving the call at the other end will see the user’s Google Voice number, rather than their mobile phone number.

Text messages will also appear to have been sent from a user’s Google Voice number. The Google Voice app will also allow users to access their voice mail, to view message transcripts and have the app read them in what Google calls “karaoke style,” with the app highlighting the words being read.

You can also place international calls at low rates.Google Voice is only available in the U.S. and the mobile app is for Blackberry and Android only.
