The hype about the Google Nexus One phone was enough that practically every tech-savvy phone owner was drooling over the possibility of getting one. As always in these circumstances, the rumours proved to be a little more tempting than the reality, with talk of $200 unlocked phones soon being shot down. It could be tempting, in the circumstances, to go to the opposite extreme and suggest that no one needs this phone while Apple’s iPhone is out there. Instead, let’s take a careful look at both, and try to find areas where each wins out.

Is the Google Nexus One for You?

The hype about the Google Nexus One phone was enough that practically every tech-savvy phone owner was drooling over the possibility of getting one. As always in these circumstances, the rumours proved to be a little more tempting than the reality, with talk of $200 unlocked phones soon being shot down. It could be tempting, in the circumstances, to go to the opposite extreme and suggest that no one needs this phone while Apple’s iPhone is out there. Instead, let’s take a careful look at both, and try to find areas where each wins out.

Applications

The Google Nexus One is up against stiff competition here. The Apple iPhone is rightly famous for its array of apps, and programmers have had since 2007 to come up with effective ones. In its corner, the Nexus has the fact that it is using an existing open source operating system in the form of Android, and that Google seems to have made sure that there will be a fairly good initial menu of applications to choose from. Combined with the speed at which new apps for both formats will probably be produced, there seems to be little to choose between them here.

Specifications

It can be easy to get too hung up on the specifications of new gadgets, but most of the time the differences don’t make that big an impact on your experience using them. Who will really notice, for example, that the Google Nexus One’s screen is 0.2” bigger than the iPhone 3G’s? There are two differences that you might notice though. Google’s smart phone offers 4GB of SD memory to either 16 or 32GB of flash memory on the iPhone, giving Apple’s option a significant advantage when it comes to storage. It loses out though in the battery stakes, offering similar life to the Nexus in most areas, but only five hours of talk time to the other handset’s ten.

Camera Options

One other area in which there seems to be a clear difference is in the two phones’ camera modes, where Google’s offering gives you 5-megapixel and Apple iPhone only gives you 3-megapixel, along with a digital zoom function. It means that the Nexus One can function on a level comparable with most decent compact digital cameras, along with the more basic SLRs. Whether that would be one of your primary considerations in buying a phone is perhaps debatable, but if you’re the sort of person who likes to snap away on a mobile, it might make the difference.

Should You Switch?

Even in terms of price, there isn’t that much to choose between the two smart phones, with the 16GB iPhone being only $20 more expensive than the contract version of the Nexus One, which is the one most people will probably want, given the expense of the $529 unlocked version.

So, you probably won’t buy Google’s Nexus One if you already own an iPhone. On the other hand, there’s no reason why, if you find yourself looking for your first smart phone, you shouldn’t give it some serious consideration.

Hello, fellow readers. It’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been caught up with some works. Let us take a look at this gorgeous and stunning new clamshell cell phone – Sony Ericsson T707. Personally, when I first look at this mobile phone, I think it’s too girly for me. No offense, girls..In my opinion, this Sony Ericsson T707 is suitable for younger teenage girls just like those in Hannah Montana; playful and sexy..hehe.

The Sony Ericsson T707 is using a clamshell design to make it look gorgeous. Besides the stunning design, it also support an awesome technology which is Gesture Control. For example, if you’re busy doing something when the phone rang, you just have to wave your hand above the cell phone to end the call. It work on alarm clock too, when the phone’s alarm clock rang, wave your hand on the cell phone and it’s off. Feels like a Jedi power is in me…hehe.

You can also set up a different background lighting color for your incoming call list. There are 3 choices, which are Lucid Blue (friends and family), Spring Rose (maybe your boy friend or special one..) and Mysterious Black (someone you hate..just kidding)..It’s up to you to decide which color setting is for who.

The Specification On The Sony Ericsson T707:

Ever want to own a BlackBerry Curve? This bluetooth-enabled media player is not just for email. It is slim and trim and is something that will fit inside your pocket. Take a look at Digitalgeeky’s BlackBerry Curve cell phone review below:

To start with the positive, the BlackBerry Curve has a modest price of around $200 dollars. This is through AT&T and you must get a two year contract. If you want it without a contract the price is going to go up somewhere around one hundred dollars. The name is “Curve” and it is just as curvy as the other BlackBerry models. It is an attractive looking cell phone with its black and silver layout although the 8350i model is darker than the other models. You may also get it in a dark red model. The keypad is a plus, with the buttons being spaced very well and no “slippery” experiences while using it. The BlackBerry Curve is easy while being used as a phone even though it is wider than most regular cell phones. The overall small design will have you ignoring its width.

The BlackBerry Curve comes in five different model numbers such as 8300, 8330, 8350i, 8310, and 8320. The main difference between all the model numbers is that the lower numbers represent a BlackBerry Curve that does not have video recording. The Curve 8300 and 8320 models do not have GPS, and the 8350i is the only model to have PTT ( Push To Talk ). The 8350i has a 2 megapixel camera with zoom, flash and video recording. To enhance the video, the BlackBerry Curve 8350i has an advanced media player. The expandable micro SD slot will allow you to keep more of those videos on file or load them up on your computer. This model also has stereo Bluetooth version 2.0, wifi, and built-in GPS capabilities. The prices start at $150 with a Sprint contract and top out around $600 elsewhere for the BlackBerry Curve 8350i.

Some of the best things about the BlackBerry Curve is the camera and the way you can text with one hand. The camera takes great, clear pictures and with the enhanced storage abilities via the micro SD card, you can be sharing them even more. Can you get about one thousand photos on the BlackBerry Curve? Yes! When it is time for texting, it is quick and easy, as a BlackBerry should be. You will be flying through your texts and emails with much greater ease. Why not take a look at a BlackBerry Curve and see all these great features for yourself ?

Since the BlackBerry Javelin has come to town things just will not be the same. This is a great smaller BlackBerry sure to please users anywhere. Take a quick look at this BlackBerry Javelin cell phone review and make up your own mind instead of just wondering.

The BlackBerry Javelin is also called the “BlackBerry 8900″. This new smartphone has a lot going for it. It is similar to the “Curve” also made by BlackBerry, but it is more powerful and even smaller. The initial reaction to those who are already using BlackBerry products like the Curve is that it just “feels right”. The battery door will hold the micro SD card ( hot swappable ) and is engineered with an automatic “grip” that is a nice option. The latching device for the door is integrated in the door and not in the body of the BlackBerry Javelin. If the latch ever breaks, you replace the door, not the body of the BlackBerry Javelin. This is both easier and cheaper. Once you get the door open, the micro SD card and the SIM card are inside. The micro SD card is easily removed, while getting at the SIM card requires the removal of the battery. Once the battery is out it is an easy reach to remove the SIM on the BlackBerry Javelin.

If you are a speed freak you will want to get your hands on the BlackBerry Javelin. For those concerned with performance, the BlackBerry Javelin comes with a 512 megahertz processor. You also get 256 megabytes of onboard flash memory. Not bad, but not quite as fast as the BlackBerry Bold. However, it is faster than the BlackBerry Pearl or Curve.

For the outer looks, the BlackBerry Javelin comes in ahead of the pack. The navigation buttons are flush with the lens of the screen to promote a smooth look. The QWERTY keyboard has what is called the “sweet spot”. It is a narrow type of keyboard that some say is too small. This will of course depend on the size of your fingers. You have to remember the BlackBerry Javelin is small compared to other BlackBerry models. The BlackBerry Javelin will slide right into your pocket. Some call it a mini sized BlackBerry Bold. The camera is on the back of the BlackBerry Javelin. It is a 3.2 megapixel camera. Though there nothing really special about the graphic ability of the camera, there is something that is. The camera is enclosed in one piece of glass. This is a nice touch for the Javelin.

One down side of the BlackBerry Javelin is that it lacks 3G capability. For many people this will keep them away from the Javelin. This lack of 3G makes the BlackBerry Javelin slower since the 3G technologies enable data to be transferred faster. Despite this lack of data speed, other things like the clear, bright screen and the neat micro USB charging port are great features. The lock button is hidden in the top corner and is under the smooth casing. All in all, the BlackBerry Javelin is an attractive yet small package with some big benefits for those who buy it.

I bet you can still remember the Samsung's unsuccessful attempt to make their own first Touchscreen cell phone with Dual SIM Card capabilities - The P720.
I bet you can still remember the Samsung’s unsuccessful attempt to make their own first Touchscreen cell phone with Dual SIM Card capabilities – The P720. It had to be canceled because of compability issues between their Dual SIM card UI and Armani phone like device. Now after making some improvement with their touchscreen capabilities – TouchWiz Interface, and added Dual SIM functionality, their new Samsung D980 DuoS is now ready to be market.

The Samsung D980 DuoS is currently retails at RM1,999 in Malaysia. When you turn on the D980, you’ll be amazed by its bright and attractive 2.6 inch touchscreen display with a dimension of 240 x 320 pixels and 262,000 color features.

The Samsung D980 has a great touchscreen widgets built into it. The response time of D980 is pretty fast. Looks like Samsung really utilize its TouchWiz feature on this D980. You can move the widgets to enable easy access to the items on your phone’s desktop such as clock, messages, radio, games, calculator, etc. These floating icons can be move to the corner of your phone or to the sidebar holder of your D980. You can also access your commonly used application such as inbox, music player, web browser or bluetooth by tapping on the sidebar at the top of the D980’s screen.

The stylish and glossy surface of the Samsung D980 Dual SIM Touchscreen Phone can sometimes attracts unwanted dirts and fingerprints, making the screen looks awful. You’ll have to spend most of the time wiping your touchscreen each time you used it.

You can have two SIM cards running on this phone at the same time. The D980 will prompt you to insert your SIM cards the first time you use it so that it can configure the setting automatically to enable the Dual SIM capabilities. This phone’s Dual SIM cards is suitable for those who carry around two mobile phones, one for work and one for leisure, if you know what I mean…Now, you can send, receive messages from both of your SIM cards’ contacts. Receive call in and call out from both phone lines. The downside of this Dual SIM feature on D980 is the internal built-in message storage. It can only hold a total of 200 messages or 240 messages if you include the SIM card storage.

The design of this phone is slightly smaller and more compact than its previous predecessors. Its navigation menu is straightforward and easy to understand. Everything are within the reach of each other because of its simple menu and directory system. Most of the buttons and apps on the touchscreen are finger friendly and easy to navigate. If you are a keypad typing person before, you’ll find that touchscreen texting is a whole different experience. Good news is you wouldn’t have to deal with the problem of keypad button’s characters wore off on this phone.

The 5.0 megapixel camera on the Samsung D980 is fully compact with features such as 15 scene modes, face detection, adjustable resolution sizes, etc. The D980’s camera can also act as a video camera where you can record high quality video and saved it on your phone. The D980 is truly a multimedia phone that you must have.

In conclusion, the Samsung D980 DuoS touchscreen is a beautiful and stylish cell phone. With its bright and colorful display screen and fast responsive time of its touchscreen, it is sad to find out that this phone does not have WIFI and 3G capabilities. You can still connect to internet using the EDGE connectivity, but it is slow and expensive.

Overall review on the Samsung D980 Dual SIM Touchscreen phone showing that the pros of having this phone are the use of its Dual SIM function, fast responsive touchscreen features, nifty widgets, easy to navigate menu and nice on screen keypad. The downsides are mirrored surface of the screen can attract a lot of dirts and thumbprints, constant cleaning is necessary. Its messages storage is too small which can only hold 200 messages and the most disappointing is the lack of WIFI and 3G functions on this phone.

That’s all fellow geekers, the Samsung D980 is best use or worth the money if you are using separate phone lines for business and personal by utilizing its Dual SIM cards function. If you’re a internet mobile surfer, then the D980 is not for you because this phone as mentioned before does not have WIFI and even 3G.
