Def Jam Rapstar Is On Its Way

After months of waiting for news on this game we finally got hit with some new trailers. We tested it out in person at E3 and can tell you its definitely not Singstar or anything near it. Its no where near what Microsoft has done with its Lips franchise. This game carries authenticity and represents the culture without being cheesy or just plain wack. Largely because hip hop’s most influential brand Def Jam is behind it. The good people at 4mm have a hit on their hands.

Def Jam Rapstar delivers players a hip-hop experience that allows them to take on the role of a rapstar. You will feel like a star emcee on stage, and if you deserve critical acclaim you’ll get it. Def Jam Rapstar is about perfecting your flow so you can rhyme and sing along with the greatest hip-hop tracks. But the game also offers opportunities where it’s also about creating all new rhymes, sharing your creativity and expressing yourself to the wider community and the world.

Def Jam Rapstar Info and Trailer - Dual Shockers

I have been wanting a game like Def Jam Rapstar for a long time, yes we have Rock Band and Guitar Hero which every once in a while throw a Public Enemy song our way, but it never caters to the hip-hop enthusiast. Def Jam Rapstar is for the true hip-hop fan, a game that has you spitting lyrics like Kanye and does not allow for you to hum along with the song. Not much is known about the track list just yet, but “Put On” from Young Jeezy and “Gold-digger” by Kanye West are confirmed.

Swaby, August 27, 2009-- Ever since we got the chance to check out Def Jam Rapstar I know this game would be a hit, all Hip Hop fans finally have the one video game that will do the genre justice. Though I do applaud both DJ Hero and Scratch ultimate DJ for trying to do something good for Hip Hop in the gaming world; but the way I see it is this game right here is going to be the sleeper hit out of the three urban related games.
