Harm Wülf is the bedroom musical entity of G. Hirsch, known for his moving lyrical and vocal contributions in Philadelphia's Blacklisted. Harm Wülf's debut album is a collection of songs which touch upon the dark and rustic themes of solitude and aging disappointment. Inspired by a wide range of artists: from the tranquil resonance of Low, rhythmic acoustic strumming of Strength Through Joy and the ascending power of Angels Of Light, to the insular, grotesque Americana of Cormac McCarthy and Flannery O'connor. Most times sparse and austere, others apocalyptically orchestrated, Harm Wülf has the sound of something long since missing.

"It always feels a little unjust to grasp a listener's attention based on an artist's current or previous work, but the forthcoming 7"EP "These Times Weren't Made For You" will put an end to Elliot Babin's go-to connection as the drummer of Touche Amore, as it has the power to make Dad Punchers a household name. This EP marks the second release for Elliot; the Dad Punchers S/T LP opened eyes last year and gave him the platform that he has earned today, writing deeply personal and often charming songs about the struggles of young adulthood that anyone can relate to. This EP was recorded by Elliot himself in his time home from tour. Using his Father's living room and his growing knowledge of recording technique, he managed to produce an enjoyable listening experience while once again playing nearly every instrument. Taking cues from The Beach Boys,The Weakerthans, and a range of No Idea Records alumni, Dad Punchers is a look into who Elliot Babin really is as a musician, songwriter, and human being.

Deafheaven premier "Dream House" from "Sunbather" via NPR Music

From NPR Music:

"Deafheaven makes music that's both intensely personal and incredibly universal. Its excellent 2011 debut, Roads to Judah, was a blast-beaten, shoegaze-indebted metal record that felt perfectly of its moment. With the new Sunbather coming up so quickly, I wondered where primary members George Clarke (vocals) and Kerry McCoy (guitar) could take a band with such an immediate sound. Apparently, I needn't look further than the Internet.

While thinking about Sunbather a couple weeks ago — and especially its nine-minute opener, "Dream House" — an Instagram from one of Deafheaven's members popped up in my feed; it was a shot of U2's Best of 1980-1990 taken from one of those airplane music stations. Suddenly, the sonic space of Sunbather clicked. The distant echoes of "Where the Streets Have No Name" don't appear until the last minute here, but I can't shake them.

Since then, it's been hard to disassociate my not-so-accidental voyeurism. I keep hearing The Edge's chiming guitar ringing in my ears, now set against Clarke screaming his aching prose. For the first half of the track, the momentum is exhilarating and relentless, buoyed by a melodic punk bounce not heard since Deafheaven's 2010 demo. But the second half delivers on the ideas stemming from the band's stellar Mogwai cover last year: It doesn't just consider the grandiose pace of post-rock — well-trod territory in metal by now — but also understands what caustic relief resides in it. Sunbather is the sound of a band expanding within its reach, with an open ear dedicated not to what always comes next, but what will remain.

Sunbather comes out June 11 on Deathwish Inc."

Deafheaven Releases & Apparel in the DW Estore
Deafheaven Releases & Apparel at Hello Merch
Deafheaven Facebook
Deafheaven Website
Deafheaven Tumblr

Loma Prieta and Raein Split 7"EP available now

An awesome pairing of two incredibly interesting bands who play discordant music.

Loma Prieta’s sound is difficult to describe, however it is clear that they come from the rich tradition of creative Bay Area hardcore bands such as Mohinder, Funeral Diner, Bread and Circuits, Yaphet Kotto, and Indian Summer. Eschewing sub-genres in favor of organically writing songs that are personally fulfilling, each Loma Prieta record is substantially different from the last. Nonetheless, Loma Prieta have managed to forge a distinctive form of expression that is entirely their own.

Raein are an emotional and discordant punk band from Italy originally founded by members from La Quiete and Neil on Impression. Upon their formation in 2002, the band began releasing a dizzying amount of music, over 12 influential releases/appearance in under four years time. This original incarnation of Raein disbanded in late 2005. But after a hiatus of almost 2 years the band officially regrouped in September 2007. Since the reformation the band has released to moving albums and toured the world extensively on their own terms. Considered to be leaders in the new wave of emotional post-hardcore, Raein carry a similar spirit and sound as bands Orchid, Saetia, and others. Melding melody and discordance into something truly beautiful to experience.

Loma Prieta Releases & Apparel in the DW Estore
Loma Prieta Facebook Page

The highly anticipated vinyl repress of "One", the debut album from Cursed.

This new superior version of "One" was manufactured using brand new pressing plates, making the release sound heavier than ever. All of it is presented in a gatefold jacket with revamped artwork and packaging.

This is the first in a series of singular represses of the entire Cursed full length catalog from Deathwish. Cursed "Two" and "Three" albums will be reissued later this year (originally released by the defunct Goodfellow label, under exclusive license from Sonic Unyon). A final limited box set of all three albums and a book of Cursed related material by Chris Colohan will be released later down the road via a partnership of Deathwish and Colohan's own label, High Anxiety.

Cursed were Canada's metallic monstrosity fronted by vocalist/lyricist Chris Colohan formerly of The Swarm, Left For Dead, and Ruination. The band also featured former Ire and Black Hand members.

"One" was the first of many scars Cursed they left behind. Distinctly their own animal, Cursed took the most powerful qualities of the aggressive sub-genres and turned them into something raw and explosive. Ultimately influencing and shaping the heavy music world as we know it today.

Cursed Releases & Apparel in the DW Estore

AC4 is the no frills vision of musician Dennis Lyxzen, (Refused, International Noise Conspiracy, Invasionen, etc). In AC4, he is joined by friends and former members of Umea Hardcore bands DS-13, Step Forward, Regulations, E.T.A, and The Vectors. Together AC4 pay homage to bands like Minor Threat while adding their own spin to the tried and true spirit that brought inspiration in their youth.

"Modern Life Is War is an active band again. In September of last year. we wrote an album in John's basement in Marshalltown, which will be recorded at God City in May and released on Deathwish in September. The original lineup of Chris Honeck, Matt Hoffman, Jeffrey Eaton, Tyler Oleson and John Eich will be in place. For what it's worth, we are not approaching this as a "reunion" but rather as a band with a new record that will be working to contribute something worthwhile. Extensive touring is not in the cards for us at this point. Our first show back will be at This Is Hardcore Fest in August, followed by a record release show in Iowa. We will announce an official release date as well as specific show dates and locations as soon as they are confirmed".

Modern Life Is War on Facebook
Modern Life Is War on Twitter
Modern Life Is War Releases & Apparel in the DW Estore

"Sunbather" from Deafheaven will hit stores June 11th, 2013.

"Sunbather" is the highly anticipated new album from Deafheaven.

Recorded and engineered by Jack Shirley (Funeral Diner, Comadre) and designed by Nick Steinhardt (Touche Amore) "Sunbather" deals with the profound sadness found in the quest for one's personal perfection. Serving as an artistic lucid dream of warmth despite the stinging pain of life's cruel idealism.

With opener "Dream House" George Clarke's tortured vocals familiarly intertwine with Kerry McCoy's hypnotic guitar work before crashing into a wash of post-everything melody. This leads to the moving instrumental "Irresistible" a track that carries a twisted indie-like sensibility buried beneath glittery layers of guitar and piano. However it is in the title track and beyond where the maturation and growth of Deafheaven brightly shines. In "Sunbather" they explore sonic peaks and valleys created by superb percussionist Daniel Tracy (new to the band for this recording). His inclusion brings new dynamics to light as an urgent pulse to the swirling musical chaos. Pushing bleak epic "Vertigo" and the dark emotional closer "The Pecan Tree" to new, awe-inducing heights.

Without question "Sunbather" is Deafheaven at the peak of their creative strength and vision of their young existence. A masterfully crafted work of art that will be renowned for years to come.

Tracklisting:

1. "Dream House"
2. "Irresistible"
3. "Sunbather"
4. "Please Remember"
5. "Vertigo"

Harm's Way are an absolute force of a band from Chicago, Illinois.

Harm's Way made a name for themselves with masterful releases on the Organized Crime and Closed Casket Activities labels. With their punishing "Isolation" album (Closed Casket, 2011), Harm's Way brutally melded a metal attack, hardcore aggression, and industrial repetition into a new kind of sound. Creating a balance of intensity and originality rarely found in the world of heavy music.

The evolution of Harm's Way continues with their "Blinded" 12"EP due out later this Spring on Deathwish. Illustrated by Florian Bertmer (Converge, Pig Destroyer, etc) and recorded at Brick Top Recordings by engineer Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos), "Blinded" is a crusher of a record, fueled by vitriol, cynicism, and rage that Harm's Way are known for. A release date and info on this release will be coming soon, brace yourselves.

Harm's Way will be touring the U.S. and Europe this Spring & Summer, here's the latest:

Hesitation Wounds is the combined sound of different backgrounds and 5 hours of song writing. In May of 2012, the idea was to combine friends (some of whom had never met) from different bands and see what could happen in one afternoon. Jeremy Bolm, vocalist of Hesitation Wounds (and Touché Amoré), commented, "I told Neeraj Kane (The Hope Conspiracy, Suicide File, Holy Fever), Jay Weinberg (ex-Against Me!), and Stephen 'Scuba' LaCour (Ex-Trap Them, True Cross), 'Let's write as many songs as we can on Sunday and record them on Monday.' Jay was in town and Scuba agreed to come out from Arizona for the weekend. What we came up with was three songs and an intro. We recorded them Monday afternoon with long time friend and always-available-for-my-stupid-shit, Alex Estrada. Lyrically, the songs are about witnessing the murder of a friend, the life and death of the inspirational underdog folk singer Phil Ochs, and the overall reality of life. Sonically, it's an abrasive / no strings attached outpouring of fast and heavy hardcore not far off from the bands we're already responsible for. We're proud of the outcome and we hope you enjoy."

"This is SV02. (because I couldn't live with myself having anyone else put money into such a capricious idea)." - Jeremy Bolm.
Cutting his teeth in underground bands American Nightmare (Give Up The Ghost) and Some Girls, Eisold's body of work has truly effected a generation of listeners. Through constant cross-pollination Eisold has gained mass appeal, influencing underground and popular culture with his ever evolving artistic vision.
With an already prolific number of releases, Cold Cave has become a name synonymous with the contemporary resurgence of Darkwave and Synth Pop sub-genres. Propelling Cold Cave to perform at world class museums The Getty and the Guggenheim, as well as performances with legends Sonic Youth, The Jesus and Mary Chain, among others.

"Oceans With No End" EP is the latest offering from Cold Cave; a two song industrial indulgence that features Eisold performing all forms of instrumentation on the release. Title track "Oceans With No End" uses upbeat electronics to create a melodious wash for Eisold's pensive vocals to tread within. While B-side "People Are Poison" plods forth with an angry swagger in direct juxtaposition to the title track's driving urgency. Together they are a blindingly beautiful example of morose music at its very best.

Cold Cave Releases in the DW Estore
Cold Cave Website
Cold Cave on Facebook
Cold Cave on Twitter

Check out the new Touche Amore video, directed by filmmaker Max Moore, for their song Gravity, Metaphorically off their awesome new split 7" with Pianos Become The Teeth.

Touche Amore vocalist Jeremy Bolm commented: "When creating any sort of art.. whether it's music, a painting, photography, etc. What makes it so special is the inspiration or interpretation someone may take from it. This is what fueled having Max Moore film a music video for our song "Gravity, Metaphorically". TA has traditionally kept all things visual in house, but when Max approached Deathwish about working with us, we decided it could be fun to have someone we've never met create something based solely on the music provided. Knowing only his resume (Converge, Whips / Chains, Code Orange Kids) we gave him a shot. What he's made is an impressive step outside anything we've done before and it's done with his own brand of chaotic and dramatic visuals. We hope you enjoy."

"Early Frost" by Heiress is a grim and discordant artistic journey into the cold soul of the Pacific Northwest.

Recorded by renowned engineer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Seaweed, etc), "Early Frost" opens with the airy post-everything beast "All Ruins" and immediately sets an ominous tone (think Enslaved covering Slint). Wasting no time, Heiress then dive deep into the awe inducing title track "Early Frost". A beautifully haunting song filled with delicate melody and hair raising emotion. Songs like the unforgettable "Beyond Fevering" and eery "Splintering" continue this sonic exploration, experimenting with cryptic vocal stylings before unfurling true sonic power. All of first level observations aside, what is so refreshing is just how non-metal and unpredictable Heiress are, while they carry such a foreboding collective soul. Heiress melodiously twist when other artists would predictably turn up the volume. For example in the stunning track "Again, Before" Heiress masterfully introduce a pan flute, where other artists would inject a stereotypical guitar solo. After nine mesmerizing tracks, we are led through the darkness to the epic closer "Bolt and Tomb", a song which opens with thirty seconds of hypnotic percussion, building to a crescendo of truly glacial proportions. "Early Frost" from Heiress is an essential experience for those who are searching for substance in today's heavy music world.

Early 2013 brings a beautiful pairing of two of the most interesting bands playing melodic hardcore today: Touche Amore and Pianos Become The Teeth. The bands will join forces on an upcoming 7” split, to be co-released by Deathwish Inc and Topshelf Records, out digitally on January 8 and physically on January 22.

Touche Amore are a thought provoking, passionate band from Los Angeles, CA. Throughout their relentless touring and the release of their album "Parting The Sea Between Brightness and Me", Touche Amore have established themselves as one of the most exciting young bands in contemporary hardcore/punk.

Here, Touche Amore offer up the exceptional "Gravity, Metaphorically", a stripped down and discordant emotional roller coaster of a song. For over four minutes, Touche Amore rattle and buzz through tempo changes and jangly riffs, as vocalist/lyricist Jeremy Bolm pours out his heart and soul in his trademark way. A poignant step forward for a band that continues to impress with every effort.

Pianos Become The Teeth are one of the bands leading the latest generation of emotional hardcore/punk. Led by unique vocalist/lyricist Kyle Durfey, they create moving music with a focus on his powerfully poetic story telling capabilities.

With this release, Pianos Become The Teeth offer up their extraordinary new song "Hiding". Meandering melodic guitar work weaves in and out before Durfey expels "There's no good in your eyes anymore..." telling a weighty and complex tale of the subtle nuances of love and conflict. The song continues to push and pull as emotions do throughout its five minute run. Slowly building only to beautifully crash in a way that only Pianos Become The Teeth can.

Touche Amore Releases & Apparel in the DW Estore
Touche Amore Website
Touche Amore Facebook
Touche Amore Twitter

Topshelf Records Website
Pianos Become The Teeth Website
Pianos Become The Teeth Twitter
Pianos Become The Teeth Facebook

"Love is Love // Return to Dust" is Code Orange Kids' debut album, recorded at God City Studios by Kurt Ballou (Converge). From the first organic stick clicks of opener "Flowermouth (The Leech)" musical chaos explodes in every direction imaginable. As their tangle of guitars and angular percussion violently lurches about, it's apparent that Code Orange Kids are unconcerned with following the predetermined path of any existing sub-genre (i.e. they are their own unpredictable animal). Code Orange Kids' dirges effortlessly become staccato bursts in "Liars // Trudge" and "Nothing (The Rat), two songs with so many hairpin turns they are difficult to put into words. While adversely, songs like "Colors (Into Nothing)" and "Calm // Breathe" unfurl as beautifully layered musical expanses. As impressive as these dynamics are, it is Code Orange Kids' untamed heaviness and emotion in the title referenced songs "Choices (Love is Love)" and "Bloom (Return to Dust)" that will leave you floored. These two monstrous beasts smear the divisions between art-rock, punk, doom, and noise in a way never heard before. Without a doubt, "Love is Love // Return to Dust" is truly impressive, as much a work of art as it is an album. A shining example of the bright future that awaits the world of aggressive music.

Collector's Note: Only 2 out of the 3 colors are still available.

Code Orange Kids Releases & Apparel in the DW Estore
Code Orange Kids Twitter
Code Orange Kids Facebook
Code Orange Kids Tumblr
Code Orange Kids Bandcamp
Buy on iTunes

Converge need little introduction as they have been innovating and bending the rules of metallic hardcore since 1990, influencing scores of copycats and delivering some of the most forward-thinking and sonically abrasive hardcore ever heard. This new album continues to blaze a new path over 17 tracks of desperation led by the scathing guitar work of Kurt Ballou and tortured howls of frontman Jacob Bannon. Creating what is being considered the best album of their legendary two decade long reign as kings of the genre.

"You, Me, & The Violence" is the latest masterpiece from Birds In Row. The album explodes out of the gates with "Pilori", a sonic crash and bang statement of personal independence among with society's faults and fractures. Birds In Row then continue down this road, expressing disdain and struggle in songs like "Cages", "Guillotine", and "Walter Freeman". All of them musically harboring a beautiful tangle of emotional vocals and distortion. And just when it feels like the album is almost too overpowering, Birds In Row unfurl a moment of musical clarity in "Last Last Chance", a haunting guitar and vocal break. Their collective control of their dynamics is masterful work. "You, Me, & The Violence" and "Grey Hair" are near perfect examples of this, naturally shifting between searing and serene in tone. If you weren't in awe of Birds In Row in the first eleven songs, the twelve minute closer "Lovers Have Their Say" will leave you floored, as it is an ominous epic that artistically unwinds in truly spectacular fashion.

A crude time capsule of 2012 U.S. Hardcore played with pulverizing earnest intensity. Living Eyes follow up their last year's "Starve for Agony" 7"EP with an eleven song raging beast: "Who Will Remain?". Straight and to the point hardcore architecture exacted with maniacal and raw playing, overt bass/drum rhythm driven intensity with screaming chaotic distorted guitar, harsh guttural vocals. A stomper start to finish.

Self released by Converge and Napalm Death, exclusively Distributed by Deathwish Direct.

Legendary bands Converge and Napalm Death have come together for a split release, bridging the worlds of personal and politically driven extreme music.

Recorded as part of their new album sessions, Converge offer up the blazing new song "No Light Escapes". Already a staple of their live set, this whirlwind of an emotional charged song is a soon to be a discordant hardcore/metal anthem for the band. Also on the release, Converge offer a "We Are The World" styled rendition of the influential Entombed classic "Wolverine Blues". Joining them in tribute is a number of friends including Tomas Lindberg (Disfear, At The Gates, Lock Up), Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom, Split Cranium), Kevin Baker (APMD, The Hope Conspiracy), Brian Izzi (Trap Them), and more. A new Converge album will surface later in 2012 on Epitaph/Deathwish.

On the flip side, metal pioneers Napalm Death offer up two new aural monsters. First, "Will By Mouth" erupts in classic grind fashion. A buzz of brutal guitars and a crushing blast beat lay a foundation for Barney Greenway's vicious vocal attack. All of it uniquely bleeding together to paint a vivid picture of social unrest. Also on the release, Napalm Death offer the slower and textural new song "No Impediment To Triumph (Bhopal)". A deeply resonant number that lyrically sheds light on the horrific Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984. Without question, "No Impediment…" is truly a powerful and poignant moment for this legendary band.

Order in the DW Estore

Since their inception, Touche Amore have been touring relentlessly, playing their brand of emotional hardcore/punk everywhere from dingy basements to sprawling arenas. While traveling in the UK in 2011, they were invited to record at the legendary BBC Studios for "The Punk Show" with host Mike Davies. Being the music fanatics they are, Touche Amore excitedly accepted the offer. There they worked with acclaimed engineer Simon Askew (Pulp, PJ Harvey, Foo Fighters) during a half day of recording. With a trophy resume like that, you would think that Touche Amore would be presented here in a polished state, but the contrary is true. Here we experience four of their well known anthems in their most stripped down, road worn state. All at goose-bump inducing, speaker blowing volume.

Deathwish are proud to welcome Louisville's Whips/Chains to our affiliated family. Featuring Ryan Patterson (Coliseum), Ben Sears (Black God), and Will Allard (Xerxes), Whips/Chains play a brand of heavy, apocalyptic music for the trying times we live in. Unpolished and pure, this massive sounding down-tuned three piece takes influence from bands His Hero Is Gone, Bolt Thrower, and others.

"Master/Slave" is Whips/Chains monstrous debut 12"EP. Taking no time to set a tone, opener "Secular Front" crawls through a wreckage of noise before breaking into a D-Beat stride. Other songs "Brick and Mortar", "Trembling and Alone", and "Human Filth" carry this same bombastic quality, but also introduce subtle hooks into the fray. These dynamics make Whips/Chains not only powerful, but also uniquely listenable. Creating a mesmerizing push and pull throughout the grime and fury.

Whips/Chains Website
Whips/Chains Releases & Apparel in the DW Estore
Max Moore Films

This is the second installment of Self Defense Family's "Island Series" of recordings.

Recorded at "Sundlaugin" in Mosfellsbær, Iceland the studio owned by the band Sigur Ros.
The session was engineered by Birgir Jón "Biggi" Birgisson.

"Provocative" is one of the best words to use when describing Self Defense Family. With this release, vocalist/lyricist Patrick Kindlon and Company continue down their well worn path of satire on the human condition. Here they offer up two new soul searching tales, fueled by tongue in cheek wit and teeth clashed angst.

In both songs that make up this release, discordant melodies expand and contract around lackadaisical percussion, while Kindlon emotes and laments with true passion. There's no question, Self Defense Family still wear their DC influence well, but now it's tattered and torn; it's taking on their own shape. Melodic and infectious, inspiring yet at the same time, uniquely depressing. These songs are soundtrack for the solemn grey area in all of our lives. Another amazing release from one of the most interesting bands out there today.

Self Defense Family Apparel & Releases in the DW Estore
Self Defense Family on Facebook
Self Defense Family on Twitter

Formed in 2005, Loma Prieta have been a mainstay of the Bay Area hardcore community for more than half a decade. In that time they have released four 12 inch records and two 7 inch records mostly on their own label, Discos Huelga. They have also toured the U.S., Japan, Canada, and Mexico numerous times, all while members play in several other hardcore bands (Punch, Beau Navire, Us Haunted Bodies).

While Loma Prieta’s sound is difficult to describe, it is clear that they come from the rich tradition of creative Bay Area hardcore bands such as Mohinder, Funeral Diner, Bread and Circuits, Yaphet Kotto, and Indian Summer. Eschewing sub-genres in favor of organically writing songs that are personally fulfilling, each Loma Prieta record is substantially different from the last. Nonetheless, Loma Prieta have managed to forge a distinctive form of expression that is entirely their own.

"Life/Less" is Loma Prieta's powerful second album, originally released by a partnership of Discos Huelga and React With Protest Records. Now, Discos Huelga and Deathwish have partnered to repress this sought after effort with all new artwork and packaging for the release.

With "Life/Less", Loma Prieta began to explore their more chaotic side, adding heavier and faster moments to their previously established emotional hardcore punk foundation.

Loma Prieta Releases & Apparel in the DW Estore
Loma Prieta Facebook Page

"Last year TA played an off-date show in Hamilton, Ontario. That night a band opened the show called Single Mothers. They started their set as I was organizing our merch and after about 45 seconds my ears perked up and I dropped what I was doing. I watched their set in entirety with my eyes wide and a rabid feeling of excitement that I knew I was witnessing something very special. Based out of London, Ontario Canada, Single Mothers plays a style of punk/post-hardcore that is both high in energy and layered with creativity. There is a level of honesty that vocalist Andrew Thomson gives with every song and performance that is jaw dropping and hair raising. This 7” EP serves as a unforgiving confessional of late intoxicated nights and sexual deviant behavior. Imagine a hybrid of The Hold Steady and The Bronx with a grimy overtone all it’s own. All of the elements are present for Single Mothers to step out of the shadows of Ontario and be the new Canadian front runners." - Jeremy Bolm.

We are excited to announce the launch of "Secret Voice", a label founded by Jeremy Bolm of Touche Amore, manufactured and distributed by Deathwish.

The first release, a 7"EP from the band Single Mothers is available now!!!

"What is Secret Voice? It’s an excuse. It’s an excuse to release different things that I fully believe in, whether it’s a record, book, video, etc. The wonderful people at Deathwish Inc have blessed me with this opportunity. I have been lucky enough to spend most of the last few years traveling, and in my travels I have met a lot of talented people and seen a lot of fantastic bands that have influenced my decision to get this project off the ground. When we were in Europe this last Summer I made the mistake of forgetting my music and books in our van back in the states. This lead to a lot of time to think about what else I wanted to do with my life aside from Touche Amore. I’ve always dreamed of working at a label, so what’s better than starting one with your friends helping you out? Well, here goes nothing."

Secret Voice Website
Secret Voice Store

For “I.V.” the band’s Deathwish debut, Loma Prieta once again worked with longtime collaborator Jack Shirley (Atomic Garden Studio). With his guidance Loma Prieta tracked to tape 12 songs intensely emotional songs. Written during a time of great personal suffering and transition for the band "I.V." is the creative culmination of those collective experiences. From the opening breath of “Fly by Night”, Loma Prieta crash and bang melody and discord together into one beautiful work of art. This grinding theme continues throughout "I.V." in stunning songs like the aptly named three parter "Trilogy 4, 5, and 6". Creating a powerful and unpredictable ebb and flow to their emotional outpouring. As the dust settles on the distorted haze in closer "Diamond Tooth", an artistic coherency and clarity emerges that can only be described as Loma Prieta. A new kind of melancholy chaos that should be familiar, yet challenging, to those who enjoy bands like Love Lost But Not Forgotten, Pg. 99, La Quiete, and the ilk.

Loma Prieta Releases & Apparel in the DW Estore
Loma Prieta Band Page
Loma Prieta Facebook Page

We are proud to welcome San Francisco's Punch to the DW affiliated family.

Punch "Nothing Lasts E.P." was released by a partnership of Deathwish, Discos Huelga, and 625 Thrash.

In June of 2011, Punch piled into their two beat up Honda Civics in San Francisco, CA and set off on a twenty six minute journey to East Palo Alto, CA. With a population of just over four thousand gang members, East Palo Alto may be a peculiar place for a punk band to go, but nestled in its urban isolation is acclaimed engineer Jack Shirley and his Atomic Garden Studios (formerly the ShitBox). There under Shirley's attentive ears, Punch poured their patchwork sound into their latest work, "Nothing Lasts E.P.”

The influences on “Nothing Lasts” are as varied as the 5 members’ musical backgrounds, spending time in bands as diverse as Doppelganger, Loma Prieta, and Bullets In. As with their previous releases “Nothing Lasts” straddles a variety of hardcore sub-genres. From thrash to d-beat to straight up youth crew Punch recombines all of these genres to create something all their own without ever being forced or cheesy (they're vegan, duh). “Nothing Lasts” is a slightly more introspective release for the band which lyrically and musically explores active nihilism – the idea that it is better to actively break down your walls and change yourself rather than to sit around and wait for the world to spoon feed you. Make each moment count because no matter good or bad, nothing lasts.

Tracklist:
1. Do it Yourself
2. Done
3. Time Apart
4. Planning is Easy
5. Four Letters
6. The Chase
7. How Nothing Lasts

Oathbreaker are a brutal Punk/Metal band from Ghent, Belgium.

To outsiders, Belgium is a country rich in cultural diversity and history. However to its residents it is also a country of crime, corruption, and political incompetence. For the Ghent based Oathbreaker, the festering blood that surfaces from these social cracks and fissures burns as fuel for their creative engine.

After their formation in early 2008, Oathbreaker released a debut 7"EP on the British label Thirty Days Of Night Records. The release was well received by many worldwide and propelled the band to tour Europe. There they shared stages with Entombed, Amen Ra (whom they share a member with), Blacklisted, Trap Them, and more. There they honed their craft, developing into one of the most interesting metallic bands out there today.

Recorded in Belgium by Michael Neyt and Lander Cluyse, mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge), and mastered by Alan Douches (Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan), "Mælstrøm" is a swirling mix of Metal, Punk, and Hardcore destruction.

Similarities in Oathbreaker's ferocity to bands like Cursed, Rise And Fall, and From Ashes Rise are apparent, but merely a flash point for them. Opener "Origin" strikes hard of the gate, crashing down with swirling guitars, thunderous drumming, and vicious vocal stylings. From there, Oathbreaker push the limits of brutal with "Hierophant", a crushing mid paced masterpiece infected with a "Wolverine Blues" spirit. While songs "Thoth" and "Glimpse Of The Unseen" carry a Doom Metal like candor that would even make Tom G. Warrior proud. Song after song, the chaos ensues within the Oathbreaker vortex as they explore all shades of heavy. Then, as suddenly as their rage appeared on the horizon, it recedes to reveal the album's mesmerizing title track "Maelstrom". A dark acoustic passage that shows Oathbreaker's ability to not only unleash a fury, but control the musical super storm within.

Without question, Oathbreaker's "Maelstrom" is one of the best debut albums we've ever heard, and we trust you'll feel the same way.
