DAVIS LABORATORIES, INC. RECEIVES PATENT FOR IMPROVED METHOD AND APPARATUS OF PERFORMING CONCRETE RADIOGRAPHY

BREA, CA – October 13, 2009 – The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted a patent to Jim Davis of Davis Laboratories, Inc. for developing methods and apparatus, applicable to the use of radiography, to generate images of the interior of concrete structures.

US Patent 7,602,884, “Concrete Radiography,” which introduces a more advanced way of using radiographic imagery to reveal the internal location of rebar, post tensioning cables, electrical conduit or fiber-optics embedded within the concrete. The patented target is selectively resistant to radiation and generates a guidance index on the film. Imagery from the resultant radiograph displays inclusions within the concrete structure and are now able to be more precisely located.
