While looking for an album supplier there were a few must have things on our check list… 1) Our albums had to be unlike anything else that was on the market 2) The quality had to be second to none 3) The print quality had to be stunningly gorgeous 4) They had to be durable. Will it last the test of time? Last but not least 5) Are they ‘GREEN’ and socially responsible like us? Do they care about the Earth??

Another thing we love are the colours, textures, patterns, various wedding and engagement album sizes and designs we can select from to really add that personal touch for our clients. This pressed leather (also available in faux leathers) pattern below is so stunning and feels soooo luxurious in your hands… We love it!! It’s buttery soft!

We have so many options for cover designs and we encourage our clients to get creative and have fun with their album covers. Sara and Hami (below) have the same cover design for their wedding album but the red and black are reversed so there is a red cover with a black stripe! Pretty cool eh? It will look great in their home on a book shelf or coffee table.

We love the fact that our albums have smooth rounded corners! This is something that is really unique and adds that extra little bit of quality and care you don’t commonly see everyday!

Last summer, Dave and I had a fabulous time photographing Jay and Audrey’s gorgeous Muskoka wedding. We honestly didn’t think the night could get any better… We had a chance to catch up with Megan and Shaun, our friends and former bride and groom of ours, they actually referred Audrey and Jay to us We were so excited when guests, Julie and Paul asked us if they could book a meeting with us to discuss their big day. They said that they were so impressed by watching us work that they couldn’t imagine any one else shooting their day! Wow, that type of flattery goes a long way with us and we got them in that week for a meeting. We just love couples like Julie and Paul, they have to be some of the nicest people out there and we really wanted to capture their love to the very best of our abilities!

The great thing about having two principle shooters on your wedding day is that during the preparations one photographer can go with the bride and one with the groom. Dave and I love the fact that we can split up and really cover both sides of the wedding day. We love to provide our clients with all of the beautiful photojournalism that happens at our weddings!

Dave was photographing the guys when he caught this beautiful little moment. I just love the way Paul’s mom is looking lovingly at her son while he’s waiting for Julie to arrive. Look at the anticipation everyone is feeling!

After a beautiful ceremony Paul and Julie were announced man and wife!! On such a chilly January day, I think it warmed everyone’s heart to see them so happy together!

Our first stop was Nathan Phillips Square for a romantic skate around the ice. CP24, City Pulse was there covering the winter time fun. It was so cool that Gurdeep Ahluwalia asked them for an interview! They Must have been so excited to be on T.V. so soon after being married!

Dave had some fun with the groomsmen when he got down on the ice and directed this sweet shot! Thank goodness these guys can stop on a dime!

January weddings, although beautiful, can be chilly and this one was no exception. Paul and Julie were such troopers while we took them around downtown Toronto for their photography session.  We grabbed these last few shots as the sun started going down, too much fun, we love winter weddings!

It was nice and toasty at the Berkeley Church when we arrived. The setting was simply stunning with roaring fireplaces, incredible centerpieces and the soft light of candles that made the already inviting venue that much cozier.

One thing that Dave and I are seriously considering is having a live band for our wedding. We absolutely love the vibe and the high energy that an amazing band has to offer. Julie and Paul had the talented Fred Hale Band play for their reception! They were a great choice and we’ve shot a few weddings with them now. They always get the party hopping and everyone hits the dance floor in celebration. Gotta love that!

Do you recognize this gorgeous duo!! Yes, it’s Audrey and Jay our awesome couple from last summer at the fabulous Taboo resort in Muskoka! It was so nice seeing you both again, we love you guys

My sister Tricia is getting married at the Berkeley Church next July. I instantly fell in love with the blue arch that frames the bride and groom while they dance.  How magical does that look?! We’ll definitely have to get the same awesome lighting for her special day!

It was a really fun and casual vibe to their reception. Everyone had a good time, we loved how Julie and Paul gave their speech on the stage, so relaxed and genuine.

After the father/daughter dance, Dave and I stole our couple away for the last few shots of them together. We love the Berkeley Church for all of it’s romantic nooks and corners hidden away.

I love this spot and this chandelier. The textures, the brick and just the feeling of this room are so incredible. Did you know that Coldplay held a secret concert in Toronto at the Berkeley Church?! Chris Martin, the lead singer, actually had a photo shoot in this very room. Pretty cool spot to take a few romantic wedding photos huh?!

Thanks so much to Julie and Paul for being so amazing to us on your wedding day! We really had a great time with you and your great friends and family. Congratulations guys and we wish you a fantastic future together!!

Rachel and John had their first date after they met each other with a group of friends snowboarding one weekend. Neither one of them ever thought that this would be the weekend that they would meet their future love.

It’s so great seeing these two together, they have so many things in common and really just have a love for adventure and the outdoors.

It’s also really nice capturing the connection they have together. It’s very clear that they each hold a special place in their heart for one another.

I love doing artistic crops and shooting moments as they happen… This was such a cute moment after they had fallen down in the snow.

I love this amazing angle Dave caught… Take a minute to look at it and try to figure out how it was shot… John and Rachel are actually standing in this shot! This is an uprooted tree we found while walking in th forest, lol! Dave has such a creative eye for this sort of thing

As photographers, we’re always trying to use new ideas and concepts to spark more creativity. For this shoot, I wanted to break out of my usual shooting style a bit. As I’ve mentioned before, I absolutely love my 50 mm 1.2 lens. It’s soo buttery and amazing, you can really get used to using the same lenses for each shoot if you’re not careful. On this shoot, I used the 24 Tilt Shift for the whole session. It was a lot of fun and went well with our couples style!

I totally love this shot below! Rachel’s eyes look phenomenal and Dave’s angle is very cool too!

This was a bit of an interesting shot!  We found some abandoned buildings and peeked in for a few quirky shots! These guys were so funny, and really hammed it up for the cameras, thanks guys lol…

Mont Tremblant has to be one of the most romantic spots in Canada!! Everything looked ethereal when the air was filled with big, white fluffy snowflakes.

As you can see from our sneak peek, we knew we could have a little bit of fun with our awesome couple… We love creating something different and special for our clients.

What a great place for a first date huh?? Yes, there is even a icy slide to cruise down, so much fun!

They needed to warm up a bit after the ice slide, so they sat by the fire… They couldn’t help but laugh when the wind changed and they got smoked out after their ride, hehehe!

After a bit of shooting we had a delicious dinner together in the village. We waited for the sun to go down so we could do some night shooting (my fave)!! We love the chance to create something moody and dramatic for our clients. Rachel and John really loved the engagement shoot we did with my sister Tricia and her fiance Kris this November… It seems to be a very popular engagement session and I think our clients love night shooting as much as we do

Isn’t Rachel stunning in this shot?? We promise, we do not get our clients from modeling agency’s… Although we’ve been asked, hehe! Something that both Dave and I love creating is images with amazing bokeh – that’s the photogaphy term for the giant blurred out lights in the background… next time you’re watching a romantic movie, notice how the more romantic a scene gets, the bigger the bokeh gets!

As we wrapped the shoot, we noticed so wicked lighting coming from a nearby bar in the village. It hadn’t quite opened yet and so they were happy to let us create a few images inside while it was empty. I love these two shots, the purple and blue lights look soo cool eh? Dave went for the awesome shot above and I thought it would be cool to grab this shot below in the reflection of the mirror. What a great spot for a few cool shots!

Here’s a sneak peek of your album while it’s away at print…. The first image in the slideshow is your image wrap cover, with the front cover being on the right, spine down the middle and back cover on the left.

On Tuesday night this week, we got a call from Rachel and John. They’re a cool couple from Connecticut asking if it were possible for us to fly to Mt Tremblant to take some snowy engagement pictures for them. Charlotte and I did a quick search of the FlyPorter website and were excited to see that it was possible to get out this weekend!

So Friday morning we boarded our flight on Toronto island and were walking across the tarmac in Mont Tremblant less than an hour later. Gotta love Porter for it’s convenience, plus the service is great!

We met up with Rachel and John at the base of the village with lots of smiles and hugs. We could tell we’d just found some  new instant friends!

Needless to say, we had an AMAZING time driving around the mountain and walking in the forest with them. We had an awesome shoot, and have lots of great images to edit, however we wanted to share this engagement photo with you. This is one of our favourites from the shoot…

We created the above photograph by creating multiple exposures with John doing an amazing job of holding still throughout! We then overlapped them all in PhotoShop to create this rather striking and unique image!

We couldn’t be more impressed with their diversity and willingness to make this shot happen!

We’re off to the Wedding Co. show at the Carlu in Toronto now to visit a few friends and to get some more cool ideas for our wedding. Hope to see some of you there!

The wedding was simply stunning from start to finish. When we entered the front doors of the hotel we were treated so well. It was such a gorgeous spot to host a wedding. Panoramic views of the mountain and every hotel room has a fabulous view of the water. It has to be one of the finest hotels in all of Mont Tremblant.

Dave went to the guys suite to take some photographs of them all having a great time getting ready for the ceremony. Ian has such an amazing sense of humour, I guess that comes with being British. He and his groomsmen had everyone laughing through the whole day. I love it when we photograph a wedding and the day is filled with fun and laughter. It really shows the closeness everyone has for one another.

I met up with the girls in the bridal suite. What a stunning room! I also loved all of the little details, it adds so much charm to a wedding day!

Samantha looked absolutely incredible. She was so elegant and truly reminded me of a ballerina. She was the picture of beauty on her wedding day.

As the guests were waiting for the bride to arrive, these two little church mice peeked over the pews to get a better look, too cute!

After a charming ceremony in one of the most quaint chapels we’ve photographed in, the church bells rang and Sam and Ian were pronounced husband and wife!! Congrats again guys!

We loved taking Sam and Ian out for a few chilly shots. There is something about the fresh, white snow that is so romantic. Great shot guys!

The bridal party was a lot of fun and really kept the entertainment going throughout the day. What a good looking bunch!

Isn’t Mont Tremblant so romantic when the sun goes down. You get this amazing blue glow that contrasts with the warmth of the village lights below. I could stay there all winter long.

During the speeches it was really nice to learn a bit about how Sam and Ian met. They we’re 14 and both living in Saudi Arabia. They actually dated for a bit when they were teenagers and met each other again when they were older. It was very touching during their speech when Ian mentioned that while away working in Hong kong, He really, truly missed Sam with all of his heart. He knew that Samantha was the only girl for him. It was hard to hold back the tears when he was sharing these meaningful words about Sam.

I love this shot Dave captured of the boys enjoying a stogy together. On such a brisk night, it just seems right to light up a cigar in celebration.

When it came time for some of the boys to speak, they almost had the crowd in tears with their wit. Capturing candid moments and all of the great wedding photojournalism is really what keeps us challenged to do what we do. We love those natural moments that just happen.

At the end of an enchanting evening, it was a beautiful touch when Sam’s sister sang during the first dance. I’m sure it meant a lot to them to have such a personal gift for their wedding. Sam and Ian, thanks so much for choosing us! We had a fantastic time photographing your amazing wedding in Mont Tremblant. Just thinking about it really gets us stoked for Rachel and John’s engagement shoot this weekend! Congratulations to you both!!!

We had a ball shooting them both, and will enjoy sharing the photos with you all soon, but for now I wanted to say a quick goodbye as we head down to Mystic, Connecticut for a wedding photographers convention. We’ll look forward to catching up with a bunch of ‘photografriends’ down there and take in some new ideas, techniques for both our photography, album design and business.

Seeing that we’re away for the week, we thought it’d be fun to share a slide show we put together of some of our favourite engagement pictures from 2009…. Of course we couldn’t fit in all our couples, but needless to say there were hundreds of other shots we would have loved to put in there.

As we all know, November can be a little unpredictable in terms of weather, so it was with great delight that we woke to clear blue skies and mild temperatures the morning of Nina and Igor’s wedding. It’s amazing to think that only a month ago it was possible to head outdoors with just a wedding dress on!

Regular readers of our blog may remember Nina and Igor’s engagement pictures we shot at The Beaches in Toronto. We had such a ball shooting Nina and Igor because they’re so easy going and willing to try out whatever ideas Charlotte and I threw at them. I think it helps that they’re both talented wedding photographers too! Check out their work here.

We began the day at both of their homes in Streetsville, shooting the preparations, the details of the day as well as some pretty bad ass shots of the guys. Check it out…

How funny is Igor’s proposal book?! Cool right… In case you can’t figure it out, it says “Wheel U Merry Me?”

Their ceremony took place around my old stomping ground, Meadowvale at the Merciful Redeemer Parish. It’s a gorgeous, modern Catholic church, with lots of window light and a stunning high ceiling.

It’s always so cool to be at wedding ceremonies to witness the look on the groom’s face as his bride walks towards him, and believe me, Igor was no exception. You can see the look in his eye shows a deep love for his wife to be.

The priest was hilarious – cracking jokes throughout the ceremony, which made for some great moments of laughter.

After the ceremony we all jumped in the limo and headed down to the University of Toronto for a little photo fun. The guys did a little warm up to be sure they didn’t overexert themselves!

There are some super sweet locations scattered through U of T, Nina and Igor even hooked us up with some we’d never used… like this awesome hallway. Nice right?

If you’ve looked around the web at wedding photography at U of T, you’ve more than likely seen this door. It’s very cool eh.

As you can see below, Charlotte loves taking advantage of the gorgeous architecture with this shot!

After we’d finished up the shoot, we headed over to The Old Mill. We did some cool twilight shots of the gorgeous couple in front of the building. Nina also works in Marketing at Coke, so she broke out a couple of bottles for this shot. We decided to light it a little more dramatically for this shot!

On the way inside, Charlotte had Nina stand against the cool wall paper to create this beautiful portrait.

Their reception took place in Guild Hall, which is one of the nicest rooms at the Old Mill… it faces the back of the building and has huge windows that open onto the patio.

Since these guys love Toronto as much as we do, we decided to hit up a couple cool locations around the city. The first stop was Toronto’s famous Distillery District. This is such a great location for engagement photos I absolutely love the way the rich reds, coppers and oranges look on the pick up in this photo above! This was shot across the lane from Pikto, a professional photo lab we use quite a bit.

This is another shot I ADORE! Not only does Julie’s hair style look killer in this shot, but I love the way the brick buildings compliment the shades and depth of colour in her hair…

Here are a couple of candid pictures we caught when Dave cracked a joke! We love capturing the natural laughs between our couples. Too Cute!!!

Haha, here are a couple of sweet shots too!! We got Julie and Marco to play around for a bit and pose… Work it… work it!!

I love the Distillery so much for the cute little details you seem to find everywhere you turn! I love the wood work and design on this amazing wall.

As the sun went down we scooted over to the R.O.M. to grab this sexy shot in the rain. Julie and Marco loved my sister Tricia’s engagement shoot near the R.O.M. We thought it’d was cool to get a new angle on the museum to really capture all of the gorgeous architecture!

Here’s an example of the DVD slide show we offer our clients! Nothing better than having a custom slide show of their engagement pictures so they can sit back, relax and enjoy their images together. We’re so excited to be designing a custom engagement album for Marco and Julie as well!! We know we can create something amazing for them with all of the awesome pictures from their shoot. Yesterday during a milder part of the day, we asked Larry (Charlotte’s Dad) to take a few shots of us while we were walking. I’m loving the snow in these shots… Pretty keen to do some engagement sessions during the Winter now that I’ve seen how cool it looks!!!

The girls design, an Elf Hospital, was a striking work of art, made with precision and grace. As you can guess the boys design upstaged the girls, as an unexpected use of pyrotechnics was involved. Next year, I’m sure we’ll have a more regimented set of rules.

Sonny & Rachael had one of the sweetest love stories we had ever heard. Sonny, a doctor in the Oakville Hospital E.R., met Rachael, a nurse at the Hospital, one day when she dropped her napkin while enjoying her lunch. There he was, down on one knee, looking up at her with her napkin in his hand It wasn’t too long after that he was down on one knee again, this time asking Rachael to be his wife! Aww… Isn’t that so romantic. No wonder the magazine wanted to feature these two for A Dolce Love Story.

We had the best time shooting the wedding of Sonny & Rachael this July. They were a pleasure to photograph and are truly kind, generous and amazing people. For any brides to be, this article was a great read and lists many of the awesome wedding vendors they used for their special day! We have had the best week away in gorgeous Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We absolutely love it when we get to join our amazing couples for their destination weddings. Can you believe that in the last 14 months we will have shot in Australia, Hong Kong, India,  Mexico, Jamaica, Barbados & The Greek Islands. Not only that, but we’ve got several coming up this Winter, like Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Virgin Islands & Turks and Caicos!! The great thing is that we LOVE our couples as much as we love to travel so we hope it shows in our work

The suites at the 5 star Royal, Playa del Carmen were to-die-for! They were so luxurious, you felt pampered every step of the way. Even with the stunning beach outside your door, they almost made you want to stay in your room all day… well almost.

Fiona had lots of little blue Tiffany & Co. boxes on her day with cute little hand made presents for her as well . I love this shot of Fiona’s identical twin sister Jen helping her into her wedding gown.

After their awesome White Party on the beach the night before, Fiona and Bobby had such a breezy day… no stress…  they were so both relaxed before hand, you know they’re a perfect match!

Bobby and his boys laughed and joked around before the ceremony, they were all such a cruisey bunch and such a pleasure to photograph!

These have got to be the cutest flower girl and ring bearer ever! Aren’t they sweet

I love the huge smile on Bobby’s face as he sees his future wife walk down the aisle! They were both SO happy to see each other!

The soft yellow colour scheme was so fitting for a gorgeous wedding by the beach. The bridesmaids looked so beautiful in their soft flowy yellow cocktail length bridesmaids dresses. Fiona’s bouquet of vibrant yellow orchids was perfect and stayed flawless through the fabulous wedding ceremony and into the late evening.

This is a great shot of the two new families having a good time together after the vows.

One thing we love as photographers is shooting through things. I love this shot Dave captured of Bobby through Fiona’s veil.

After a late afternoon wedding, the sun was down in no time so we had to get even more creative with our shots. The wind picked up a bit so it made for some really cool shots of Fiona’s veil fluttering in the wind.

And the sapphire night sky was a gorgeous backdrop for this romantic shot! LOVE it!

The Royal in Playa del Carmen had so many great locations to take wedding photos. The bright coloured walls were perfect for a few shots.

One thing I love about night shooting is the moodiness and they way you can manipulate light to get some really dramatic shots. While the newlyweds relaxed together for a few moments alone we grabbed these cute little moment before the pre-reception cocktails began.

And now for some wedding reception fun!

Bobby and Fiona had such a gorgeous wedding reception and The Royal Resort did such an amazing job with the food… As they did all week! We dined on some delectable Surf n’ Turf and I tell you they sure know how to do some pretty succulent lobster at this resort and not to mention the desserts… Hmmm, that reminds me, I think I have a spinning class tonight!!!

During the wedding they had a hilarious awards ceremony called “The Clarkies”. It was meant to acknowledge some of the funniest and most memorable moments between their friends and family. It was really well done and they had some pretty sweet prizes, lol! During the speeches we had some moments filled with laughter too and also some tears and emotional moments as well. It really was a wedding to remember. We were busy putting together the same day slide show for the couple during the reception and took turns shooting and editing. We were happy to present some of our favourite story telling images of  the wedding for them at the reception. We absolutely loved the live band they found in Playa del Carmen! They had some serious skills and had everyone on the dance floor boogieing down!

What an amazing time away we had with Fiona and Bobby. We’d love to thank you guys again- SO much, for choosing us to photograph your wedding. You both made us feel so welcome like we were a part of the gang. We’re glad you love your photos as much as we do!! We hope you had a great honeymoon in Jamaica and an amazing start to your new chapter in your lives together. I can not tell you how many compliments that I have gotten about the beautiful photos you took at my wedding.

It makes me feel so proud when someone compliments your work because I knew that your talents would blow people away. From the moment I saw your work and met you two, I was beyond impressed. I was so excited for people to see them and especially the parents.

In fact I had one girlfriend of mine who showed her brother your photos and now I think he has contacted you about his own wedding. And then Bobby’s brother called us yesterday all excited because he saw you David on TV on Wedding SOS. The funny thing is that I saw that episode ages ago and had no idea that the best photographer in the business was you! Should have guessed.

Anyways I really can’t express not only how much everyone loved your photos but also how much they loved you guys. I don’t think I will ever get tired of hearing “Your photos are the most amazing photos I have ever seen!” or “Your photographers are so nice and good looking!”

I am so so so proud of your work and blown away by my wedding photos. Thank you so much for the thought, love and care you put into my wedding and for being the two coolest, hottest (looks and talent) photographers ever.

I hope that this is not the last that I have a chance to work with you two. I am looking forward to hopefully other projects in future and feel extremely blessed to have met both of you.

Jessica & Andrew knew they wanted to do their shoot in nature, surrounded by nature’s striking beauty… and we’re so glad they chose High Park, right down the street from our photography studio, for their engagement session.

The sun was shining, and the day seemed to reflect how these two are feeling about each other at this very special stage of their life together. They are both so obviously head over heals in love with one another!

I’m sure you can see in these photos just how much fun they have together!

I love these next two shots.. I feel like an engagement photography should show the connection between a couple, not just how they look when they smile at a camera – you know?

Here’s a cute little moment Jess & Andrew had with the simple direction of “head over there and hang out together… you know, have some fun”… they came up with the dancing! Love it

Charlotte broke out the tilt and shift lens to create this work of art… isn’t the way the trees blur out so beautiful?!

This next shot was almost the same moment, but with a very different lens – the 70-200. It’s such a stunning lens and can be the best for portraits!

We had such a wonderful time doing all these engagement pictures. Before we lost too much light with the sun going down, we headed down toward the lake to grab some final shots.

Walking back to our cars we saw a pool that’s been emptied and did a few playful, arty photos of our adorable couple.

Originally we talked about doing their engagement pictures while they were in Toronto for a weekend visit, but as the weather cooled and time began to run out, Charlotte and I offered to drive out to Kingston to do their session. I think Dave was relieved because he is a busy eye surgeon at the hospital in town.

The day was just perfect… scattered clouds, mild temperatures, beautiful Fall colours and a refreshing lake breeze.

We began the session down by the water, with Dave surprising both us and Jasmine by bringing his guitar and playing to her! What a romantic guy

I love this shot Charlotte captured below. You can really feel the emotion and love these two have for one another…

After we were done shooting by the water (and I think were were all getting slightly chilly), we walked up into Kingston’s main hub and took pictures by some really cool old stone walls and in various back alleys.

I got this next shot by climbing a tree – something I’m becoming known for!

We had a short break, then decided we still wanted to get some shots overlooking Kingston, so Dave & Jasmine suggested we drive up to Fort Henry. Charlotte and I were both so glad we did. There’s some amazing views over the water from up there! Charlotte nailed this dramatic photo by shooting across the hillside.

There’s a photo that a lot of people comment on from David and Christina’s engagement photo shoot at the Brickworks earlier this year… it’s a picture where they were lying in the grass together and I shot it by holding the camera above my head with a very wide lens. Well Dave & Jasmine asked if we could do a similar photo for them, so we found the perfect patch of long, puffy grass and after they got all snuggled up together we made this images.

As the shoot was coming to an end, we decided to mix it up a bit and have some fun with an old school shot. We’re so glad we made the drive to Kingston for their engagement shoot. Not only because it holds a place in Jasmine and Dave’s heart but because we got to experience the beauty and charm of the town!

We wrapped the shoot and headed out for dinner together at the restaurant where Jasmine and Dave had their first date… it’s a really cool little joint with tin tiles on the ceiling, exposed brick walls and comfy lounge seating… and the food was second to none!

Thanks for a great day guys – it was fun getting to know you both a little more… can’t wait to photograph your wedding next year!

Bcapphoto.com is Bryan’s wedding photography site and we really love his stuff. Alli helps Byran by assisting his shoots sometimes and they really make a great team. When they sat down in our studio almost a year ago, we instantly had a great vibe from them both, and we’ve become good friends since that first day. We even decided to do a four seasons engagement shoot so we could capture all of the seasons of their love! Waterfalls are sooo romantic. It’s like you can almost feel how much they love each other in this shot below.

Haha, what a cute shot of the dynamic duo! They grabbed a shot of Dave and I for our blog profile pic as well. You guys are too cute!

Balls Falls has some great walls and textures to the buildings. We loved this wooden wall on this old barn we stumbled upon during the session.

As the sun went down the temperature dropped.. burrr, but that didn’t mean that we couldn’t get one last steamy shot of Bryan and Alli!! Great job guys, we can’t wait to shoot your wedding July 10th!!

When Fiona first came by our studio we actually sat and chatted for 3 HOURS! We had such an immediate connection with her, she was such a sweetie, we even felt a little sad to see her go after our meeting! We covered everything from Australian rock bands to how we both share the amazing talent of curling our hair with a thin barreled hair straightener… haha, how funny is that?!

We were also pretty amazed when we asked Fiona about herself and she dropped a “Balmshell” on us! Fiona and her identical twin sister Jen created this super cool company called Balmshell. It’s an awesome stick free lip-gloss that’s hit the shelves of Holt Renfrew, Shoppers Drug Marts everywhere. Their awesome brand was a part of the “Confessions of a Shopaholic” movie and has been used in the gift bags for the Oscars!!! Yes, even Megan Fox and Fergie use Balmshell! Check out what Entertainment Tonight and  Donny Deutsch had to say about their amazing product!  I know, I digress, but this is exciting stuff!!

As we found out more about Fiona and Bobby’s wedding, she told us that they had a really cool beach party lined up the day before the ceremony. When we arrived to shoot the party it was better than we ever had imagined!! The theme was for everyone to wear white and it looked absolutely stunning!  It was also a great way to welcome everyone to Mexico and meet n’ mingle before the big wedding celebrations. The White Party on the beach was so much fun for everyone!

Fiona and Bobby had a mariachi band that played requests for the crowd, they were the best! They both passed out maracas so the guests could take part in the percussion- Ole!

Dining on the beach is such a great experience. There is something about having a meal under the stars and feeling the sand between your toes that you just can’t beat

I love this shot of Fiona’s sister Jen and her husband. Isn’t it amazing how much Fiona and Jen look alike!

I loved these shots Dave set up of the bridal party… very Vanity Fair. I also loved how Fiona and Bobby had white leather couches and seating areas set up around the beach. The White Party had the vibe of a lounge you’d find back home in Toronto. Amazing job guys!

The energy was high and the air was filled with laughter as the girls danced to the mariachi band in the sand.

Being photographers, one of our favourite things is having the opportunity to be witness to the connection between people. Isn’t this a lovely moment shared between mother and daughter?

This next shot shows off Sandrina and her 6 stunning bridesmaids… We’ve seen this a a few times this year. Aren’t black dresses on bridesmaids awesome?

I know this next shot makes the ring bearer look like Michael Jordan, but he did have some assistance from his dad!

Jon Thorpe of Union Photo helped out by second shooting- he’s an excellent photographer and we’re always so pleased to have him along. He headed over and grabbed some shots of the guys “getting ready” for the ceremony

I love this next photo. The thing about photojournalistic moments like this is the sense of anticipation… I love thinking about what’s going through the bride’s mind as she walks through those doors….

As Sandrina walked down the aisle I was on the outside of the seating trying to catch up with her! It made for this really cool shot though

Sandrina and Jay shared their vows in front of a huge bank of windows. They had each person in their bridal party come up and share in a part of their ceremony – something we haven’t seen done before – but it added so much to their service. Very cool indeed.

After vows were exchange, signatures were made and they’d had their first kiss; Jay, Sandrina and their whole wedding party threw on multi-coloured retro sun glasses and danced down the aisle!

With the ceremony over, we began the wedding party photos… This first shot was inspired by a shot I took a couple of years back which won an international wedding photography award at WPPI last year.

White Oaks Resort & Spa is a stunning setting for a wedding. The interior and exterior of the buildings, as well as the gardens…. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves… here we go.

The reception hall was amazing too, as the wedding party entered, they each did a performance of sorts, with the kids definitely stealing the show!

It took only seconds for the dance floor to open and it set an amazing tone for the whole night. There was lots of clapping, dancing and everyone was having a blast!!

As we were about to wrap up for the night, Jon had the idea to do this shot of the newlyweds standing outside by the tree filled with fairy lights…. and I’m very glad he did! Check out this amazing photograph that will be a perfect ending to their wedding album.

We jumped straight into talking about a party they were planning to celebrate the first anniversary of their marriage with their friends & family here in Toronto… You see, much like Charlotte and I are planning to do, Kamila and Asim got married overseas.

After having a wedding with several hundred people in Pakistan last year, these guys wanted to create something a little more personal & intimate for their Toronto celebration.

The night was spent on a paddle steamer, traveling from harbour front out to Toronto Island, and cruising around the harbour. It was a relaxed night of fine food and some casual dancing.

At the end of the boat cruise, I asked Asim and Kamila if they’d like to do a few shots on the wharf before wrapping up the night – and they were very accommodating (trust me, it was cold out there!).

I hope you’ll agree that we got some great shots of them holding one another close. I’d say these were my favourite shots of the whole evening because of the obvious love and affection you can see between them.

Congratulations guys! I wish you both all the best in your long life together.

There, I’ve said it.

Over the past year or so, Charlotte and I have become the unofficial photographers for The Berkeley… Doug, Ann, Andrew, Tom, Stephanie, Jessica and the whole crew there are an amazing team – all energetic, fun and extremely helpful.

Not only have we run our last few Toronto wedding photography workshops at the Berkeley! We’ve also been fortunate to shoot several corporate events, boudoir sessions, engagement portraits as well as 3 weddings there this year. We love the space and the vibe so much that we convinced Charlotte’s sister, Tricia (see last post!) to have her wedding there.

If you’re planning a wedding in Toronto – especially if you are looking for a church setting, but you’re not part of a congregation – then this is a venue well worth considering.

Now onto our very cool couple – Faye & Michael. Faye is a children’s book author, and Michael, well Michael’s my kinda guy… he’s an Apple Genius!

We began their wedding day shooting at various locations around the Berkeley – The bridal suite, the rooftop patio, the green alleyway and on the front steps of the church.

One of Faye’s bridesmaids, Rhonda is a florist, and did an incredible job of creating truly unique buttoneers, bouquets as well as centre pieces and sprinklings of flowers and yellow flower pots all over their reception… Beautiful work I’m sure you’ll agree.

The ceremony was so beautiful, set in front of huge stained glass windows with natural daylight poring on the wedding party and all the guest.

After the ceremony we jumped in the Rolls Royce and headed down to the George St. Diner – a retro diner and one of Toronto’s well known movie filming location. We found some awesome coloured walls close by and grabbed these vibrant pics of the gorgeous couple.

As we returned to the church to begin the reception, I had a chance to capture some beautiful photos of Faye in her elegant Paloma Blanca wedding dress.

Jon Thorpe was along to second shoot this wedding with us and did an awesome job (as always)… check out these wedding party photos. Sweet right?

The reception took place in the church which looked stunning as always.

As we prepped to depart at the end of the night, Jon created this amazing image of Queen St & The Berkeley Church.
