Former "24" co-stars Reiko Aylesworth and Sarah Wynter will reunite on FX's drama series "Damages."

Both actresses have signed for recurring roles on the legal thriller's upcoming third season alongside new regulars Martin Short and Campbell Scott.

The plot line for the Sony TV-produced series is being kept under wraps but it is said to center on a financial scheme.

Wynter will play a mysterious "security specialist" helping a high-level assistant district attorney (Short) unravel the scam.

Aylesworth will play the wife of Scott's character, who is tied to the scandal.

Wynter and Aylesworth appeared together on Season 2 of "24." Aylesworth spent two more seasons on "24" and also recurred on NBC's "ER" and ABC's "Lost." She is repped by Gersh and MJ Management.

Wynter, who is coming back from a hiatus following the birth of her son, is repped by Paradigm and Mosaic

Ausiello: Okay, mate. There’s a crazy-ass rumor going around that Will will discover Terri’s faux baby plot, dump her, and then, in a moment of passion, get her pregnant for real! The really crazy-ass part? Sources confirm that two of those three things are true! And the other one? Not so much.

Question: I loved the Rachel-Puck hook-up in last week’s Glee! Is this something that the show may continue in the future? —Tiana
Ausiello: Not in the immediate future. In the immediate future, Puck is mostly into Quinn. Which is sweet considering he knocked her up and all.

Question: I have a really fun assignment for you, Aus. Create a chart listing every Lost alum there ever was, and then next to their names, tell us where things stand in terms of them returning for the final season. I just know how much you love to make lists. —Steven
Ausiello: I have a better idea: Let’s scrap the chart and forget we ever had this conversation. In return, I’ll share this Lost nugget with you: I hear Team Darlton will give us the answer to one of Lost’s oldest and most confounding mysteries. And I’m pretty sure it’s an answer none of us expected to get.

Question: Can you please find out what the deal is with episode 9 of The Mentalist? The plotline hasn’t been released, but I hear something big goes down at CBI. —Liz
Ausiello: Here’s what I know: It’s a big Red John episode and someone dies.

Question: Is Jenna the one who’s going to die on The Vampire Diaries? – Georgia
Ausiello: Nope.

Question: Have any Vampire Diaries tidbits? —Lauren
Ausiello: I have a tidbit. In episode 8, ****a* stakes ***o*.

Question: Is anything ever going to happen between Tony and Ziva on NCIS? —Lauren
Ausiello: I thought for sure something might happen in the Nov. 17 episode when the two sorta-lovebirds get trapped in an elevator overnight during a statewide blackout. But then an NCIS insider pointed out that it’s not Tony she’s marooned with, it’s another major male character. Guesses? Head to the comments!

Question: I’m really excited to hear about Bones‘ flashback episode. Does this mean we’ll be getting a visit from Zack? —Estee
Ausiello: “That’s still up in the air,” responds exec producer Stephen Nathan. “We would like to have him in the episode, but we have to work out scheduling as well as story issues.”

Question: When are you going to post your Q&A with the Smallville producers? — Trisha
Ausiello: I’m eschewing the customary Q&A in favor of a parceling-out approach. Here’s one scoop. Here’s another. And, looky here, there’s a bunch more below!

Question: Will Clois move full-steam ahead on Smallville or will there be a monkey wrench that derails the train? —Murnice
Ausiello: While the relationship hasn’t exactly moved along faster than a speeding bullet, you’ll be glad to know that there are blue skies on the horizon — beginning with this week’s big smooch. “They both have a few issues, so things never go as smoothly as you think,” says exec producer Kelly Souders. “But what’s great about the relationship, because it’s sort of more adult, mature relationship, is it actually brings their issues up to the forefront, and makes them start dealing with them instead of being the younger versions of themselves, where they might not have been that conscious of it.”

Question: Will Clark ever find out about Lois’ so called “Sex Dream” on Smallville? —Lisa
Ausiello: “I would say tune into [episode 9] ‘Pandora,’” Souders teases. “Reality is relative in ‘Pandora,’ but I will say that when [Lois] goes to the future, there’s some skin there.” Souders adds that “‘Pandora’ is literally like a finale. It’s huge. You’ll see an alternate ending for everyone in the cast. You’ll see what could happen to them and the future is dramatic. You won’t be disappointed.”

Question: When will Clark put on the iconic glasses on Smallville? —Jackson
Ausiello: “There’s something coming up in these first nine episodes,” Souders reveals, “in which Clark might at least contemplate glasses.”

Question: Why has Allison Mack had so little screen time on Smallville this season? —Kathy
Ausiello: The calm before the storm, perhaps? “Chloe fans will not be disappointed,” Souders maintains. “There will be some budding romance in her life from an unexpected source.” Oliver? “I’m not saying.” In possibly related news, Souders reveals to me exclusively that during the second half of the season, “Chloe is going to meet a new hero who is not all that he’s cracked up to be.” Will this hero be carrying a DC Comics certificate of authenticity? “I don’t think we got the rights to his name cleared,” says Souders, “but it’s somebody fans of the show will be familiar with.” Guesses? Question: I was so happy to see that you called Parks and Recreation one of the most improved shows of the season. I totally agree! Got any scoop? —Abby
Ausiello: You ain’t seen nothin’ yet, according to showrunner Michael Schur. He says a November installment featuring a guest turn by Megan Mullally is “the best episode we’ve ever done.” Mullally plays Ron’s ex-wife, which is pretty funny since she’s married to his portrayer, Nick Offerman, in real life. But the laughs don’t end there. “She works for the library system, and they’re trying to take over the lot that Leslie is jealously guarding for her future park,” Schur explains. “So Ron has to get back involved with his ex-wife and fireworks ensue.”

Question: Please tell me that this week’s Ask Ausiello is not closed yet! You must tell me when Gemma tells SAMCRO what happened to her on Sons of Anarchy! —Cindy
Ausiello: You just made it in under the deadline! Congrats! To answer your question, the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth comes out in the Nov. 10 episode.

Question: I have been patiently waiting for some Numb3rs scoop. Do you have any juicy tidbits you can supply? —Kristen
Ausiello: I have two, two juicy tidbits for you…

1) This Friday’s episode features an appearance by Sam Lloyd (a.k.a. Lawyer Ted on Scrubs).

2) Michelle Nolden is returning for multiple episodes as Don’s love interest, Robin.

Question: I’m pretty sure we’re long overdue for some Damages scoop. Agree? —Jeremy
Ausiello: I suppose. Ebon Moss-Bachrach (John Adams) has been cast as a potential love interest for Ellen. Also, rumor has it that Keith Carradine’s character will get it on with Glenn Close’s Patty.

Question: Greek info, please! Monday’s episode was incredible. One of the best ever. Cappie and Casey are my favorite couple on TV. —Kris
Ausiello: Now that those crazy kids are finally in sync on the love front, I can share with you a major spoiler I’ve been sitting on: This will be their first obstacle as a happy couple.

Question: I need me some Supernatural scoop. —Natalie
Ausiello: Body swap alert! Sam and Dean switch bodies in episode 12!

Question: I love Lauren Graham just as much as you do! And I’m glad you got to interview her about Parenthood, but I want more! I’m greedy! — Elizabeth
Ausiello: If it’s more you want, it’s more you shall get. Parenthood boss Jason Katims tells me that Graham’s single mom Sarah will differ slightly from the version Maura Tierney played in the pilot. “We were very much writing for Maura and in Maura’s voice, so there will be adjustments because of who Lauren is as an actress,” he says. “But it’s not like we’re completely reinventing anything.” Although he concedes that the circumstances under which Graham landed the role were “not good” (Tierney left to undergo treatment for breast cancer), Katims says he’s “extremely excited” to be working with LG. “I love her work,” he raves, “and I’m just so excited about what she’ll bring to the show and her enthusiasm for the project.”

Question: When, if at all, will Peter realize he doesn’t belong in this dimension on Fringe? — JSL
Ausiello: I ran this query by executive producer Jeff Pinkner, who responded, “Clearly part of the tension of this season is that the audience knows more about Peter than Peter knows about himself and we will continue to play that tension.” Or, to put it in the words of Massive Dynamic’s legal division, “No comment.”

Question: 90210 scoop, please!
Ausiello: Naomi’s going to tell a lie. No biggie, right? Wrong. This time, there will be major consequences.

Question: What’s this I’m hearing about Bart Bass returning from the dead on Gossip Girl? Is he alive or is it a flashback? —Fernanda
Ausiello: It’s neither. Totally unrelated question: Are you a fan of A Christmas Carol, Fernan?

Question: I love Grey’s Anatomy but what’s this I hear about trouble on the horizon for Mark and Lexie? Who is this mystery woman from Mark’s past? —Sophie
Ausiello: I believe she hails from Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles and has McSteamy DNA coursing through her veins.

What's the story with new episodes of 24? — Randy
MICKEY: Are you a baseball fan, Randy? Even if you're not, you should tune in to the World Series because that's when Fox will unveil the first preview of the new season of 24, which starts in January 2010. But until then, here's a tidbit: Within the first hour of Season 8, Jack will meet his granddaughter. No word yet on whether Baby Bauer is rooting for New York or Philadelphia. (Go Phillies!)

Any news on what's ahead for Cristina and Owen on Grey's Anatomy? I don't want Kim Raver's character to break this couple up. — Lisa
ADAM: Sorry, Lisa, but Raver's Teddy is definitely going to be an obstacle to Crowen. What might surprise you, though, is that Teddy won't be the first bump in the road. I'm hearing that sparks are going to fly between Yang and new Mercy West doc Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) in the Nov. 5 episode, a week before Teddy even scrubs in.

How can everyone on Desperate Housewives still not know that Lynette is pregnant? — Leeanne
MICKEY: Because it's TV, Leeanne! Practicing attorneys should bite their tongues when Cherry & Co. play fast and loose with labor law to float a very funny story line about Lynette's employment as it relates to her pregnancy. It won't end well for Lynette — or Carlos, for that matter. But at least all the conversation about twins will be in reference to babies.

When is CSI going to start really getting into the Dr. Jekyll storyline? — Adrien
ADAM: Patience, Adrien, there's that whole three-show November sweeps crossover to deal with first. Executive producer Naren Shankar tells me the ultra-creepy serial killer who performs bizarre surgeries on his victims will pop up in Episode 9, which airs Dec. 10. The victim: a Las Vegas real estate tycoon. The surgery: "All I'm going to say is that the name of the episode is 'Appendicitement,'" Shankar says.

Are the Vampire Diaries writers sticking to the books? For instance, will Bonnie end up with [name redacted]? — Chris
MICKEY: Whoa there, Chris, don't ruin it for the fans who haven't read the books! "Just because it happens in the book, doesn't mean it's going to happen on the show," Katerina Graham, who plays Bonnie, tells us. As for whether or not the writers plan to get Bonnie and [that person] together, it doesn't look like that will happen any time soon. "One of the writers said I'm not going to get any action for a very long time," says Graham. So [redacted] will have to cool his or her jets in the meantime!

What can you tell me about Pauley Perrette's NCIS: Los Angeles crossover? — Krysten
ADAM: Abby heads to the West Coast when a victim turns up who matches the profile of a serial killer Abby's secretly been tracking. "She pieces together some unsolved crimes in her own way, and she is convinced there's a killer that no one else thinks exists," Perrette says. "She has a very specific theory and she goes out to L.A. to try to track down this guy... or girl."

When does Glee return with new episodes and can you tease anything juicy? — Nicole
MICKEY: Glee returns Nov. 11, when we learn that both Sue Sylvester and Tina have character-revealing secrets. One reveal will end a relationship before it even gets started. The other will make you reconsider a character you thought you knew.

When will the Criminal Minds producers loosen up Hotch? — Roly
ADAM: To hear executive producer Ed Bernero tell it, they don't need to loosen him up at all. "We all believe that Hotch's stoic nature, his strength, his resolve, is one of the glues that holds the show together," Bernero says. "His unflinching portrayal of a true-believer G-man allows all the other characters to be a bit eccentric... because there is a representation of the real FBI in Hotch." That said, Bernero promises the show's 100th episode will give fans a completely different view of Hotch.

When will Ryan catch on to Jen Clark's evil ways on 90210? — Pat
MICKEY: Soon, Pat. Once Jen and Ryan hit the skids, he'll rebound with a very interesting woman. She'll entertain him with her colorful stories of the good old days; he'll totally freak out once he realizes that he's sleeping with the mother of one of his students.

On Smallville, will we see Clark wear a suit with some color this season? Or maybe wear his iconic glasses? — Sharlene
ADAM: Get used to the basic black, Sharlene. "He isn't quite done with his suit yet," says executive producer Kelly Souders. "This whole season is the alter ego before he starts transforming into the [Superman] that we all know." As for the glasses, she says, "There's a flirting moment with a pair of glasses. I won't say that he's definitely got them on, but I would watch the next little run. You'll see it in the first nine episodes."

On White Collar, will Neal ever try to run again to get to Kate?
MICKEY: Ankle security monitor be damned, it sure looks like it. Executive producer Jeff Eastin told me that Neal will always want to run. "There will always be that tension, but for the most part Neal is happy with his job," he says. Deduce what you will, then, from the fact that Kate (All My Children's Alexandra Daddario) is a recurring character on the show. We'll see her soon.

Any news on Damages? — Jill
ADAM: Season 3 finds Patty (Glenn Close) single for the first time in a while. Cue Julian Decker, a handsome architect who is also a pretty mean tenor saxophonist. Patty may not exactly swoon over him, but the two will share a kiss in the season premiere.

Adam's Mega Rave: Go ahead and give Jon Hamm his Emmy now. His stunning performance in Sunday's episode of Mad Men hit all the right notes: He began his confrontation with Betty as the defiant, powerful Don Draper, but when the shoebox hit the fan, he was reduced to the crumpled, emotional boy that Dick Whitman is. His unraveling was both heartbreaking and transfixing.

Mickey's Mini Rant: I love a good Rashomon-style story, but Grey's Anatomy's entry into the canon, the episode titled "I Saw What I Saw," seemed unnecessarily complicated for such a lame payoff.

Are Walt and Jessie going their separate ways on Breaking Bad? Sure looks that way since Damages evildoer David Costabile is joining the AMC drama as Walt’s (Bryan Cranston) new assistant, Gale.

Described as an eager student and a brilliant chemist, Gale is the antithesis of Jessie (Aaron Paul) in that he’s more interested in the magic of chemistry than getting rich.

Costabile’s casting isn’t necessarily confirmation that Jessie will go rogue in season 3. But given the mounting tension between mentor and protégé, it’s certainly plausible.

Costabile, who also recurs as Mel’s hubby on Flight of the Conchords, is on board for a minimum of four episodes.

Breaking Bad’s 13-episode third season is slated to debut in March.

Former 24 heroine Reiko Aylesworth has booked a recurring role on Damages, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Not surprisingly, details about her character are being kept under wraps. The actress joins a season 3 cast that also includes new series regulars Campbell Scott and Martin Short, as well as special guest stars Lily Tomlin and Keith Carradine.
Production of the show’s 13-episode third season began last week ahead of a January debut.

Martin Short and Campbell Scott are joining FX's "Damages" as series regulars, while Lily Tomlin and Keith Carradine are signing on as special guest stars for the third season of the legal drama, which begins production this week in New York.

Details about the characters the performers will play remains a mystery for now.

The series will reunite Tomlin and Carradine, who appeared together in "Nashville." Carradine won an Oscar for best song for "I'm Easy" from that film.

Ausiello: Too bad, because Mark-Lexie scoop is what you’re getting. “They’ve got a lot of challenges coming down the pike,” concedes exec producer Krista Vernoff. “The most consistent challenge is the one that’s built into the fabric of their relationship: He’s pushing 40, she’s in her early 20s.”

Question: What will happen to Patrick Dempsey on Grey’s when Ellen Pompeo heads off on maternity leave? —Jacob
Ausiello: He’ll get some much-needed alone time. As exec producer Krista Vernoff explains, Dempsey has been “patiently” waiting to get a story that wasn’t directly tied to the Der-Mer love story. And this season he’ll get his wish. “Derek hasn’t been a fully explored character separate from Meredith,” Vernoff admits. “The fact that by necessity Ellen is going to need a little less screen time gives us more encouragement to explore Derek as a doctor.” This includes what Vernoff describes as an “extraordinary medical story” involving Derek and a patient in this season’s sixth episode, directed by co-star Chandra Wilson.

Ausiello: Okay, but it’s a little bit of a drag. I hear S. Epatha Merkerson’s Van Buren will be diagnosed with cancer this season.

Ausiello: I asked Marc Cherry that question and got this curious response: “Not this season.” Hmm…

Question: Can you please put together a list of premiere dates for all of this fall’s new and returning shows? —Brittney
Ausiello: I guess if I have to.

Question: Will Brennan rethink wanting Booth’s baby on Bones? —Sharon
Ausiello: Booth’s baby? No. A baby? And how. “She does not want to have his baby if he doesn’t want her to have the baby,” says series creator Hart Hanson, adding that “it was really significant that once he had doubts, she wasn’t like, ‘Oh, I’ll have the baby with someone else.’ If Brennan wants to have a baby, she wants to have Booth’s baby. Her interest in having a child declines to zero when she considers having anyone else’s baby.”

Question: So I just recently rented the first season of Dollhouse and am now an addict! Any scoop you can give me on season 2? —Tiana
Ausiello: My colleague Whitney Pastorek recently heard from “housekeeper” Joss Whedon that “we’re actually doing an episode about what a dork Ausiello is. Echo’s actually imprinted with the personality of Ausiello, and all she does is go thpbbbt. It’s gonna be great.” OMG, that’s hilarious! I actually have some fun news of my own. I’m working on a column about the abrupt cancellation of Dollhouse. That’s gonna be great, too!

Question: I know Heroes hasn’t exactly been stellar for the past two years, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any fans who are dying to get whatever information they can about the new season! Give it another chance, man! —Michael K.
Ausiello: You don’t have to tell me that the show still has fans. If only because series creator Tim Kring recently did just that. In spite of creative wobbliness and ratings dips, “I’m not sure that our fate is in jeopardy,” he said. “People are watching our show in so many different ways on so many platforms. We’re among the [most] DVR’d shows on TV last season and we were NBC’s No. 1 drama last season in the key demos.”

Question: Wondering if this season of Heroes will be the last. Any insight? —Gail
Ausiello: Not just any but Tim Kring’s. He says that although the upcoming Redemption volume could serve as the show’s swan song, he doesn’t intend for it to. In fact, he adds that “we’ve never really posited an ending… [because] it’s never been one long serialized story. Each volume has a beginning, middle and end. So we try to wrap things up pretty neatly each time and string a cliffhanger over the break to reward the loyal viewers.”

Question: I need some good House-Cuddy scoop. —Lynne
Ausiello: They’re going on a trip! I mean, it’s a business trip, but still. During November sweeps, House, Cuddy, and Wilson will attend a medical conference together. What do you want to bet the hotel screwed up their reservation and they all have to share a bed?! I’m in for $10.

Question: More info on Chase’s euthanasia arc and how it hurts his marriage to Cameron on House, please? Cameron euthanized a patient in season three, so it would be pretty hypocritical of her to be angry at him. —Mae
Ausiello: Imagine killing someone. Now imagine not sharing that little piece of information with your spouse. See where I’m going with this?

Question: Any scoop on whether or not Monk will finally figure out who killed his wife Trudy? It’s the last season of the show, and so far USA Network hasn’t given us any indication that they’ll wrap up this thread before the show calls it quits. —Kelly
Ausiello: A USA insider assures me that we “will have closure on Trudy’s murder by the end of the season. Viewers will start seeing clues to that in the upcoming episodes.”

Question: My favorite show about ridiculously good-looking fraternity and sorority members at a fictional Mid-western college is back! How about some Greek scoopage? —Dan
Ausiello: DEFCON 1 spoiler alert: Sources confirm to me that by the end of the show’s current 10-episode run, Casey will be in a committed, long-term relationship with either Cappie or Evan.

Question: How is Chuck gonna react when he finds out Blair tricked him into kissing a guy on Gossip Girl? Is there gonna be a revenge? —Amy
Ausiello: The kiss itself isn’t the issue. It’s the general lack of trust between them that causes problems. And the tension grows the following week when another breakdown in trust occurs — this time involving the bar Chuck opens in his new hotel.

Question: Can we have a Mentalist scoop to keep us going until the new season? I’m going through severe withdrawal. —Deborah
Ausiello: Series creator Bruno Heller confirms that Rigsby and Van Pelt “will take their courtship to the next level. We’ve been working toward this. The push and pull of should-they-or-shouldn’t-they is a big part of their dynamic in the office. But once they do take it to the next level, that presents a whole fresh set of problems for them: Who do they tell? Can they tell anyone? What happens when the bureau finds out?”

Question: Will they finally catch Red John this season on The Mentalist? —Amy
Ausiello: Not by a long shot. “I don’t foresee finding Red John,” Heller confesses. “I think finding Red John is a lifetime’s journey. But never say never.”

Question: Any spoilers for the season 7 of Cold Case? — Denise
Ausiello: Look for Nick to spin out of control after he receives some overwhelming news about his health.

Question: You haven’t said anything about Numb3rs in quite some time. I have a horrible, unfounded fear that this might be the last season for the show. Anything you can share? —Nicole
Ausiello: Your fear is not so unfounded. “With the reality of what the business is, we would love it to come back another year after this, but we don’t know,” concedes Numb3rs co-creator Cheryl Heuton.

Question: Can you please give us some Numb3rs scoop? —Lauren
Ausiello: There will be a Rashomon-type episode where there’s a shooting and everyone there tells a different version of what happened. So the team uses the mathematical concept of “Combinatorics” to filter through the different points-of-view and make sense of what actually happened. In other news, Peter MacNicol’s Larry will disappear for a chunk of the season to gain a new perspective on things.

Question: OK, you did it. I tried to resist but I finally gave in and watched all three seasons of Friday Night Lights. And I am absolutely hooked! Definitely in my Top 5 all-time favorite shows. Thanks Mike. Any news on season 4 storylines? —Daisy
Ausiello: Producers are talking to Minka Kelly about making a two-episode return as Lyla halfway through the season. Coincidentally, that’s right around the time things start heating up between Riggins’ and Dillon’s resident Lolita, Becky (played by newcomer Madison Burge). Isn’t that conveeeeenient.

Question: Great news about Campbell Scott joining Damages, but I also love him as Boris on Royal Pains. Will be be able to still recur a significant amount of times on Pains while doing Damages? —Carson
Ausiello: I’m told the Damages gig will not preclude him from returning to Pains for season 2.

Question: Evan Rachel Wood is so amazing as the queen on True Blood. Any plan for her to return in future seasons? —Francesca
Ausiello: There’s a plan in place for her to return next season. Anything beyond that is TBD.

Question: I was wondering if you had any scoop on Heather Locklear returning to Melrose Place? —Jason
Ausiello: As of yesterday there was no official deal in place. I’m praying it happens just to see the face-off between Amanda and Katie Cassidy’s mini-Amanda, Ella. Speaking of Nuevo Melrose, just watched episode 2 and it’s crazy-good. Even better than the pilot, and I really liked the pilot.

Damages has booked its first season 3 client: Campbell Scott is joining the cast as a series regular, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Truthfully, I don’t know if the former Six Degrees star is playing Patti’s new client, colleague, or arch nemesis. An FX insider tells me that producers are keeping details about Scott’s character — and the new season as a whole — very close to the vest.

Here are two things I do know for sure: Production resumes at the end of September and the third season is slated to debut in January.

If there's one thing viewers want from a season finale, it's answers. Well, Damages fans, rejoice, because that's exactly what you will get in Wednesday's 90-minute second season closer.

"With the web that we spin, we feel like we have a responsibility to the audience to pull the shoelaces together — to pull it tight so that everything starts to fit into place," co-creator and executive producer Todd Kessler tells TVGuide.com. "We really appreciate the audience and their attention, so we want to deliver on every story we propose."

Great! So, why is Patty bleeding after leaving Ellen's hotel room? What's going to happen to Daniel Purcell now that he's confessed to murdering his wife? Will trigger-happy Wes send Ellen to her grave? Naturally, the producers are keeping mum on the major plot points, but co-creator and exec producer Daniel Zelman promises this season's finale is much more about character than plot.

"Although there's a lot of plot and twists, our show really starts with the characters," Zelman said. "The season ends this year on a character note. It really has to do with the aftermath of what happened in that hotel room and where that leaves our main characters."

In that spirit, the producers gave us a few tease-y nuggets about all this season's major players.

Patty
It's not been a great year for Patty. Uncle Pete died. She fired Tom (for real this time). She's divorcing her husband. What else could go wrong? Oh, right — she's being held at gunpoint by her newest associate. "Throughout the season, Patty has lost huge support systems in her life," Zelman says. "The idea is that Patty has sort of isolated herself to the point where all she has left is Ellen. The question is: Will Ellen betray her?"

Ellen
Ellen has been motivated by anger since her fiancé was murdered, and her new boy toy, Wes, hasn't impeded those desires at all. He even laid out her choices in their first meeting: forgiveness or revenge. "That's really what the finale is about for Ellen," Zelman says. "She gets to a place where she can make that decision. The question is: What is she going to decide? And where does she go from there?" As for Wes: "Ellen must separate herself from that [relationship] so that she has space to deal with Patty," Zelman says.

Daniel Purcell
This season's penultimate episode delivered a gut punch when viewers learned that Purcell strangled his wife to death... almost. "Our show is all about gray area, and what we found intriguing is that he thinks he [killed her], but it's more complicated than that," Zelman says. "The bad guys could have saved his wife, but they didn't. We really wanted to end his story on an interesting, complicated note." Even so, Purcell will have one final scene with Patty in the finale, Zelman says.

Tom
Tom is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. Ellen (and her FBI pals) have information that could destroy him, but Tom still has a soft spot for Patty. So who will he side with? "Tom's a loyalist, and at the end of the day, he's always going to try to protect Patty," Zelman says.

Michael
Patty's son is the last family member standing on her side, but that might not be true by the end of this season. Patty, in short, has perhaps created her own worst enemy. "I think they engage in power plays with each other, and that is something that Michael has very much learned from Patty," Zelman says. "There will be a confrontation between the two of them, and really that's about as much as I can say about it. Patty learns something about Michael, and we'll see what happens from there."

Once Season 2 is a wrap, where do we go from there? Anywhere, Zelman says. "You're really left not knowing exactly what the future's going to be for these characters, but we want there to be a sense of everything's wide open now and anything could happen. We're very excited about that."
