Film Commercial

Last weekend, we had a rare opportunity to shoot a film commercial with two students at a film institute in Schaumburg.

I really appreciate Nick and JD for great work. These are their sites.

They started new micro commercial company recently. Their rate for 25 seconds commercials starts at $500.

In my opinion, this is great deal.

I know a lot of business owners advertise on coupon magazines, flyers and newspaper. Small ad on any paper will cost at least $500 - $1,500 a month.

Nick and JD make professional quality commercials starting as low as at $500. Once they post it on You Tube, it's be clicked and checked forever.

If you spend money on any type of ad already, I think you should consider them. They will suggest lots of ideas while listening to you.

I honestly don't have enough money for smart phone. But, here's another important reason.

I am sort of Internet addict already and checking Internet at least 5 hours a day. Smart phone will increase the time. I don't think that's healthy life style.

Paid advertisements includes coupons, fliers, news paper and TV ad.

If your company depends on paid advertisements, it won't last long since it's expensive, but not working well.

Never forget word of mouths is the best regardless we are in digital age or not.

Twitter Complete Waste Time

I think Twitter is complete waste of time. I would rather write 140 characters here.

I found one boy wrote, "Finally, 6,000 tweets!".

If you have 6,000 feed backs on eBay, it will get you something. If you write 6,000 messages in your blog with your name, it will get you something, too.

Writing 6,000 messages at Twitter won't get you anything.

Nobody can read 6,000 messages there. Their message board is like chatting without the other partner. Your total efforts can be gone.

The more you write, they make more money, not you.

Internet is very important for small business for a couple of reasons.

1. Free advertisement: Online Yellow Pages like Yahoo and Google, Social Media like Facebook and Twitter.

2. Sales: eBay, Half.com and Craigslist.

I know a lot of business owners don't do any of these. Many just spend a lot of money on flyers, coupons and newspaper ads only.

Rewarding, but Not Easy

In my opinion, raising a child may be rewarding, but not easy.

There are some rewarding moments. And, it will be rewarding 30 years later. But, it's not easy.

Both my wife and I have full time job virtually. And, it's economic depression now. It's physically and financially very stressful.

Advantage Many Feedbacks

Advantage to have many feedbacks on eBay?

There is no advantage for that.

There is advantage if you keep high feedback score. There is advantage if you are power seller or top rated seller.

But, there's absolutely no advantage to have more feedbacks. I guess it doesn't matter if you have over 500.

But, surprisingly, a lot of sellers go crazy for more feedbacks. It's just vanity. You feel you achieve something.

The important thing is feedback score usually go against the number. When you try to increase the number of feedbacks, your score usually goes down or profit goes away for reasons.

1. One of the way to increase your feedback number is leaving others feedbacks.

You will get more feedbacks as responses. But, you will have more chances to get negative feedbacks, too.

It's more unusual if someone leaves you a neg feedback voluntarily without a response.

2. To get more feedbacks, you may have to go crazy to sell on eBay.

Only eBay will make money that way.

You need to sell on eBay WISELY. eBay takes 9-15% commission all the time.

If you have options to sell at your store or on Craigslist, you have to consider them. These don't have feedbacks, but don't have commissions, either.

Craigslist Simple, but Powerful

I found this craigslist looks very simple, but powerful tool.

I listed our PS3 system on Craigslist yesterday. It's brand new, but hasn't been sold for two months. We dropped price little bit since we decided to keep bonus games included.

Amazingly, it was sold within 24 hours after ad. The best part is that it won't cost you anything.

To stop population increase, I think it's important to have social atmosphere to discourage women to be staying at home mom with multiple kids.

I think we should encourage women to keep professions. With less kids, they can keep professions easier, which make their lives better.

Also, we shouldn't idolize a person like Kate Gosselin or Duggars.

In case of Kate, she got divorced already and two of her kids were expelled from school lately.

In case of Duggars, I found none of the nineteen kids attending school or going to college.

I believe they cannot afford tuition, but I am not sure if home schooling without any degree at all is good idea.

Wanderlust

I realized that my wanderlust, strong desire to travel has been gone after my daughter was born.

I am a person born with very strong wanderlust. I've travelled from Buffalo to Miami three times. I've been Buffalo to NYC over forty times.

I used to consider this as curse. This wanderlust damaged me a lot.

My car was broke down once in NYC. I got hit by car once in Chicago. I got fight with a drunken person once in Lawrence ave. My car was towed once in Clark ave. All could be avoided if I didn't go out for nothing.

But, surprisingly, it's gone after my daughter was born.

Maybe, my daughter attracts me at home. But, I believe there is a reason why married man lives longer than single guy.

Priority Sales Venues

Last few days, Cyb Knight tried to focus on eBay. We had too many overstocks.

All I got is frustration. We made little money, but I am not sure if it's worth for the time and efforts.

In my opinion, eBay is elimination tool, not profit tool. Especially, it doesn't make sense to sell brand new items on eBay.

This is priority for sales venues: Store> Half.com > Craigslist >eBay. The worst left overs will go to eBay.

These don't carry any specific function only they can do. This means they don't have real value.

Netflix

Today I saw news showing Netflix trys to eliminate DVD rental option. They try to focus on online streaming.

I think that it means their original business model actually failed because of high cost of DVDs and postage.

In some sense, it's good news for local game stores since Gamefly may fail, too. The biggest beneficiaries for that would be Gamestop and online stores like Amazon or eBay.

Cyb Knight is already involved in online sales for years, so eBay is no longer threats.

After Netflix and two Blockbusters are gone, Cyb Knight can have the biggest local market.
