I was going to just go ahead and start writing again. Mostly because I believe that very few people are still subscribed to the feed, but a good part is because I wasn’t sure what to say. Since you few who are reading this are probably close friends and people I’ve had actual conversations with across our blogs and other places, that very reason alone tells me that I should at least acknowledge the fact that, as far as this blog is concerned, I’ve been missing in action. I’d seen towards the latter part of last year that the frequency of my posts were lagging, so I tried to revive it by inviting others to write, but they, too, had other things going on in their lives, and that died in the water. Now, I again want to put my thoughts out into the world. I haven’t been absent from on-line social sites, though you couldn’t really call my participation on Twitter and Facebook (the only real social sites I use) engaged. And I don’t float ideas or thoughts there, either. I merely comment or toss out one-liners.

Whether or not any of these entries evolve into actual conversations doesn’t quite matter, though that’s something that I’ve always loved about blogs. What matters to me, right now, is that I have an outlet, and that, having an audience, I’m forced to write less like a kid with a crayon on the living room wall and more like an adult with a Sharpie in the restroom stall.

Wait, that’s not right. It wasn’t supposed to rhyme.

Sometimes you just want to tell everybody you see. When I was in college (but not on campus) I tried that once. As amusing as it sounds, it was really only funny to me and my friends. I Heart Steampunk and Cthulhu Bondage Masks

And you should, too. Thanks to my rant over the lack of streampunk in porn, a few people pointed me in a direction I hadn’t previously considered: bondage. Hoods and masks aren’t unusual in BDSM, and if I’d thought about it, I’d’ve realized that where there’s are a large group of committed people, there’s a better chance of finding a sexy little niche. Luckily, we didn’t have to depend on my magnificent websurfing skills or the time I’d have to put aside to search for relevant pieces. My friend Sandy sent me a link to an article on Serious Bondage featuring a gorgeous gas mask by Bob Basset. Gas masks like this one definitely say ‘steampunk’ to me, but I found myself imagining a robot or cyborg, rather than a human face behind the metal. Which, really, is incredibly arousing.

One of the stranger—and therefore hotter—masks that I found is their Cthulhu mask. I was surprised to see that it sold for less than three hundred dollars on eBay just recently. Given my love of all things tentacular, I expected to be pretty turned on, but repelled as well. That didn’t happen. In fact, give this guy a Darth Vader voice changer, and it’s game on.

I feel pretty safe adding Cthulhu Bondage to my list of sciolistic kinks after all.

More gas masks as fetish gear

I came across the following image by fortuitous happenstance. A Twitter user has this as an avatar. I was hoping it was an actual picture of her, but it turns out it’s from one of the photo galleries on Demask, an on-line fetish shop. (She did say she has the whole outfit, so definite plus. Hello, hotness.) After the Bob Basset masks, this feels more like an amalgam of the two different styles; less steampunk, not quite cyberpunk (though I could’ve sworn I saw something cyberpunkish in one of the galleries, but I couldn’t find it when I went back to search), and yet, it doesn’t seem quite BDSM, either.

I unexpectedly found myself more turned on by these than the Cthulhu mask. Nothing, of course, beats a steampunk cyborg out to prove that resistance really is futile, though.

Today’s been sucky. I spent well over an hour looking for something arousing, exciting—any kind of porn to turn me on. Results: zip. They are all remakes of the first dirty movie I ever watched. I know this nothing-satisfies-me mood will pass…for a while. I have to wonder, though, how do I find the right kind of porn without knowing what I’m looking for?

Maybe we have our very own filter like the recently announced “Great Aussie Firewall”. More likely, it’s Google and other sex/porn/erotica guides serving up tiresome smut that appeals to the masses, rather than the erotically-inclined (and incredibly jaded) cognoscente. So many things are censored, inappropriate, in violation of the TOS, there are very few places to search for (not to mention find) quality sex blogs and sites that are a little…offbeat. Quirky. Specifically tailored to my fussy needs. You know, the good stuff. (I suppose I’m not really counting Jane’s Guide on my blah-list. There are some interesting finds on there from time to time.)

Steampunk, Sex Toys & Porn

If there’s one thing I truly, unfailingly get off on, it’s a good sex toy. Browsing through places like Babeland, I get excited, literally aroused. In a lot of ways, it’s much better than pornography: I know that I can get what I want, when I want it (give or take the five to seven days for delivery), and it’s all mine. Steampunk makes things hotter

Why is there no Steampunk Porn?

As attractive as the notion seems, there was no porn, and no erotica to be found in an evening’s search. That doesn’t mean it’s not out there, but I’m having a hell of a time finding any. I found more steam- and cyberpunk art searching for porn and sex toys than anything else. (There was all of one “sex toy”. If anyone knows of any, I’d love a link.) There were some very erotic shots by photographer Allan Amato at Steampunk Boudoir Porn. Jake von Slatt from The Steampunk Workshop has some sexier projects going on. Even though they’re not sex toys, he does have the Complete Mechanical Womb—and a lovely tale of it’s creator, the first fictional intersex character I’ve ever encountered. Flickr keeps getting better and better

I’ve been planning to make some lingerie for holiday gifts this year. Looking for inspiration, I checked out Flickr and was lucky enough to have a couple guys in panties show up in my search results. I came across the group Men Who Wear Panties & Lingerie while I was browsing through them. One of the things that really draws me to this genre is the sense of taboo that these men exhibit. Age Verification and other Hacks

I’m starting to rethink the whole lifestream post thing. Or at the least, keep it from posting to the front page (hide the whole category or make it private?). It’s only interesting to me, and the posts do no more than serve as my own personal archives. Anyone who actually wants to see the minutiae of my day can see it (for up to a month, egad!) on the Lifestream page.

The only thing I really did today was change the WP theme so that it had a white background instead of dark teal and made a few minor cosmetic changes to the CSS. Well, that, and threw balled-up socks at my dog—I mean, for my dog. He’s crazy about getting hit in the head.

And as another mini-update, I hacked the age verification plugin so that it no longer blocks bots. And instead of entering your date of birth (which is entirely lame–everyone knows that kids under 18 know how to lie to a button link) you tick off a check box and hit “enter”. Sorry that I left it so long; I find the damn things annoying myself, but my current host requires an entry page. It’s a quick and dirty hack, but I’ll clean it up and release it in case anyone else with a WordPress blog needs one. I’m sure that soon enough we all will.

Anyway, aside from idle masturbation (Hey, did you know that graham crackers were created to curb masturbation?* All those crumbs, I guess.), I’ve had a fairly productive day. Patting my own back.
