<itunes:subtitle>Abraham is one of history's great men. He is the foundation of both Christian and Jewish Faith. His life serves as a wonderful example of God's work by faith in the lives of believers. God calls men and women to himself. He redeems. And he always does that by grace through faith. Abraham learned this, and so will we.</itunes:subtitle>

<itunes:author>Crossroads Community Church</itunes:author>

The amazing part is that his provision for our salvation is a gift - free! In fact, that is the only way we can be made right with God, by receiving the gift or New Life in Christ.</itunes:subtitle>

<title>Romans 3:1-20, God Versus the World</title>
<itunes:author>Crossroads Community Church</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>In this transitional section of Romans God's justice is contrasted with our lack of perfection. God is just in holding all humankind guilty of falling short of his glory. Sin is the universal sickness that infects our race. And God alone has the cure. That cure is both just and loving. God makes the unrighteous righteous through his grace demonstrated in Christ's sacrifice on our behalf.</itunes:subtitle>

<title>Romans 2:1-29, Why “Being Good” is not Enough.</title>
<itunes:author>Crossroads Community Church</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Ever met a judge? I don't mean the kind that wears a robe and sits on the legal bench. I mean the kind who looks down their long nose at you. The kind of person who seems to always be sitting in judgment on others. They act high and mighty and righteous, and they don't smile much. The reality is those kinds of people are no closer to God's favor than the rank sinner we looked at last week. In fact, often these folks have a harder time admitting their need of a savior because of their judging attitude. This week we will discover how God handles the judgmental, and learn how we can handle them too.</itunes:subtitle>

<title>Romans 1:18-32, The truth about you and me.</title>
<itunes:author>Crossroads Community Church</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>The ominous words of Romans 1:18 – 3:20 serve as a much needed corrective to our tendency to underestimate and excuse our bad behavior. This bad behavior is named sin by the Scriptures. And it is a species-wide epidemic. We must not think of God as a jilted lover fretting about how to win mankind back. The biblical (realistic) understanding is to know God as the Supreme Creator, an all-powerful, absolutely righteous, holy Judge who is deeply offended by our obstinate, willful choice to pursue sin and reject right. With an insight never equaled on any counselor’s couch, the Spirit of God lays bare the motivation, behavior, and consequences that mark our world today. Yet the purpose of these hard words is the same as a doctor’s diagnosis – to confront with the truth of our condition so that healing can be offered. God, a jilted lover? No. He is a skilled surgeon who offers hard truth and a cure.</itunes:subtitle>

No. He is a skilled surgeon who offers hard truth and a cure.</itunes:summary>

<title>Good with People (or, how not to be a jerk and ruin God’s work in the life of another)</title>
<itunes:author>Crossroads Community Church</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>The gospel is the power of God. It changes lives, brings fresh starts, renews hope, restores relationships, and brings power to live right. But, some people just cannot seem to deliver this life-giving message to their families, coworkers, or friends. Could it be that the problem is not in the message, but in how they treat people? The way we treat people will either build a platform or a wall for our opportunities to share Christ. In this message we will discover some basic people skills that the Apostle Paul modeled. These people fundamentals will open more opportunities for us to share our faith in a welcoming way.</itunes:subtitle>

<itunes:subtitle>Wife, mother, daughter, sister, husband, father, son or brother? Are you an employee or an employer? Are you an athlete or an academic or a business person or a tradesman? Those roles teach us how to behave, and what to expect in life. Roles are defining. When the Apostle Paul introduced himself to the church at Rome (a place he had not yet visited), he carefully selected the roles by which he would be known. And he thoughtfully identified roles those Roman believers were called to play. In this morning’s message, we’ll learn some roles our Heavenly Father has called us to fill.</itunes:subtitle>

<title>How to Get The Big Jobs Done, part 2</title>
<itunes:author>Crossroads Community Church</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Dream, Plan, Do, Celebrate: These are the steps we must take to get the Big Job done. Dreaming and Planning can occupy plenty of our time, but eventually we have to Do, and then Celebrate the completion of a Big Job. Doing requires clear goals and building an effective team. Once we have momentum, we can expect all kinds of opposition. But, when we persevere we can expect to Celebrate success - The Big Job is done. Whether at work, school, home or church, each of us are called to do the Big Job from time to time. The job that seems too much for our abilities or resources. Still God brings these big opportunities (disguised as big problems) into each of our lives. How we respond writes the story line of our lives. Let's learn from Nehemiah about how to get the Big Job done!</itunes:subtitle>

<itunes:subtitle>When is the right time to take risk and break some rules? Esther, a queen, but not empowered to act, faced a crisis that threatened her very life. Her choice was to follow the rules and allow genocide, or break some rules and save some lives. There are times to sit pat and let events unfold, but there are times to act decisively for the good. The challenge is knowing when to wait and when to act. Esther's story teaches us the wisdom to know.</itunes:subtitle>

<itunes:subtitle>Sometimes conflict edges its way into our lives. We find ourselves caught between rival loyalties. These are difficult times that call for discernment and great patience. But, there are other times when the issues are very clear, and the path of action is obvious – but hard. Those are the toughest cases. We know what we should do, but we fear the consequences. This calls for a bold, overcoming faith. This demands unusual courage and a clear-eyed view of what is at stake. Today we meet three young men who looked down the barrel of a tyrant’s rage, stood their ground, and prevailed.</itunes:subtitle>

From Hannah's story we learn the help and comfort that comes from pouring out our souls to the LORD.</itunes:subtitle>

From the trivial to the important, we can worship Jesus by the way that we perform these duties. We can only do this if we have been transformed by the power of the Gospel. The Holy Spirit gives us the ability to continually be renewed, so we can be different from the world instead of conforming to it.</itunes:subtitle>

<itunes:subtitle>What we believe about God will largely dictate what we believe about ourselves, our attitudes, our choices, our actions (good or bad) our relationships, and our response to the inevitable challenges life brings our way. The more accurate our understanding of God, the greater our faith will be (because God is so great). The better I understand God’s ways, the greater my resilience in the face of overwhelming pressures. The clearer my vision of God is, the deeper my love and compassion for others. The more I know God’s heart, the more I love to share the Gospel, for redemption is his greatest delight. Only in knowing God can I accurately know myself, my circumstances, my hope and my future. In doctrine as in Chicago politics, who you know matters!</itunes:subtitle>

<itunes:subtitle>When we speak of “Revelation” in terms of doctrine we refer, not to the New Testament book of that title, but rather to the truth that God has spoken and revealed Truth about himself, our world and ourselves. This Revelation takes place under two broad headings: General Revelation and Special Revelation. This week we will briefly examine both kinds, but our focus will be primarily on the Scriptures as God’s Special Revelation to humankind regarding himself and his ways.</itunes:subtitle>

<itunes:subtitle>Without Jesus, we are slaves to sin, fear, anxiety and so much more. But when we are bought out of slavery with His blood, we become children of God. We can call God Father and come to Him with our deepest needs, knowing He will help us. If our identity is in God alone, we don’t have to give in to that feeling that the bottom has dropped out beneath us when we lose a job, a relationship, health, or anything else. We have hope, no matter what is going on in our lives.</itunes:subtitle>

It means staying the course, loving others, not giving up, excelling at all you do, pulling your own weight. And when we do it, others notice – both inside and outside the church. If you want some respect, get to work and make a difference!&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/crossroadschurch/sermons/~4/LteYASBGqCE" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</description>

<title>How to Find Joy When We Suffer</title>
<itunes:author>Crossroads Community Church</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>While suffering is a God-designed part of the believer's life, we are not designed to grimly march through times of suffering barely hanging on while complaining how hard our lives are. God intends joy as our companion on the suffering road. But how? This message examines three practical truths that bring joy to our lives when we walk with them on the suffering road. Listen and recover your smile.</itunes:subtitle>

<title>God’s Finishing School for Saint</title>
<itunes:author>Crossroads Community Church</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Suffering is a part of our lives we would rather do without. Yet, suffering is one of God's choice tools for finishing his saints. Like a master sculptor God raises the hammer of affliction, strikes the chisel of trouble and chips off all that detracts from our true beauty. I may suffer from my own choices, the choices of others or just because we live in a fallen, imperfect world. But, often believers suffer because God wills it. Don't resent that time of struggle. Don't despair. God will teach us things during suffering that we will not learn in any other setting. Listen to this strengthening message to clear away the fog of fear and hear your loving Father's gentle voice urging us to rest in him.</itunes:subtitle>

<title>Growing Together: How God Uses the People in our Lives to Make Us Grow.</title>
<itunes:author>Crossroads Community Church</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Growing in Christ looks good on paper, and relationships seem simple while listening to a sermon at church. But, real life is much messier. Feeling are rubbed raw, small irritations blossom into fits of rage. Isolation beckons, but offers only loneliness. Whether it's marriage, children, the shop, the office or school, people are God's choice tool for growing us in our faith. Today's message offers strong, practical advice for cultivating the kind of relationships that bring satisfaction and result in significant spiritual growth.</itunes:subtitle>
