Adam Young of Owl City has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. The agreement encompasses the entire Owl City catalogue, including “Fireflies,” the platinum-selling #1 hit.

Owl City was first featured on Crazed Hits in 2008, prior to signing a record deal with Universal Republic.

Deas Vail signed to Mono Vs Stereo, an independent label run by Relient K (Jive Records) and distributed by Word, who provide sales, marketing and distribution services for several leading labels, including Word Records, Curb Records, Fervent Records, and Atlantic Records. Owl City, who was first featured on Crazed Hits in September 2008 while unsigned, just went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts with his debut single, “Fireflies.” According to Owl City’s label, Universal Republic, the song will go platinum next week and officially become the 4th platinum-selling single by an artist featured on Crazed Hits prior to getting signed, after Drake (”Best I Ever Had”), BC Jean (”If I Were A Boy”), and Kid Cudi (”Day N Nite”).

In addition, we put “Fireflies” on Hit Prediction in August, a section on our website where we predominantly highlight debut singles by brand new artists that we expect to have enormous success. After Katy Perry’s ”I Kissed A Girl”, and Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance,” “Fireflies” is officially the 3rd debut single to top the Billboard Hot 100 Charts after being put on our Hit Prediction.

Ian Ramage, Sony/ATV’s Head of A&R in the UK and Europe, emailed us after inking a deal with Erik and said: “You should be aware that your championing of Erik definitely fuelled our enthusiasm and therefore contributed to us signing his publishing deal.”

We are still big fans and are putting Erik’s first single, “Hurtful,” officially on Hit Prediction in this post. The song will be released in the UK next month and U.S. next year.

Nikki & Rich have signed to Warner Bros. Records. The deal was done by music industry legend Lenny Waronker, Sr. VP of A&R Perry Watts-Russell, and Warner’s 20-year old A&R Ian Cripps. This marks Lenny Waronker’s first signing since his return to the Warners fold under the helm of Chairman and CEO Tom Whalley.

Had a cut on the last Kelly Clarkson record. Just signed to Emblem Music Publishing, headed by Matt Serletic, who will be working with Aimée on her music.
