On a recent Sunday afternoon, the boys rallied for a 7-7 tie against a very talented Lincoln team. Down 6-1 with about 20 minutes to go, the kids kicked it into overdrive and scored six of the remaining seven goals, shocking the visiting team. The calling card of our Bolts is their unforgiving pressure on the ball and fantastic passing, trusting in their teammates to handle every pass. What a great group of young men!

It is a young team and the boys are enjoying their time on the field, improving their baseball skills and knowledge with each passing day. Reserecting the softball league from near collapse, the new 12 rec teams (three teams in each of the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions) are showing their talent by winning the vast majority of cross-city softball games. The teams are finding the competition amongst the other CNBLL teams to be the challenge as they battle against their friends and, for many of the girls, their summer teammates. It is a pleasure to watch these girls improve with each game and show the city of Cranston what this league has to offer. Great job to the kids, coaches and league officials for making this a fantastic transition.

A few tough first half games have turned into dominating victories as the kids take complete control in every second half this season. They are making it look easy as they concentrate on passing, communication and relentless pressure on the opposing teams. Great job ladies!

Up 3-0, Durfee surrendered the lead as C&B scored 7, but our boys in blue rallied with walks and clutch hitting, eventually winning the slugfest 15-11. The guys are starting to hit the ball with consistency and pitching is coming around as they get more games under their belts.

Cranston National Budlong Little League kicked off the Majors season with KJ & Sons defeating our boys, sporting the Durfee Hardware logo, 14-1. Team KJ’s pitching held our hitters in check and big bats on their side proved too much on the night. It is great to see the kids back on the fields again and the season looks like a good one to come.

Battling to every ball on every possession, their dogged determination and fierce attitude make them a difficult matchup for any team. They recently defeated a very tough East Providence team 3-1, scoring some very impressive goals and denying nearly all advances into their end of the field. Now 2-0, these boys have their eye on a fantastic Spring SuperLiga.

Invitational Softball Tournament at Warwick’s Belmont Park. Pitching was key as our kids threw buckets of strikes, allowing the defense to show their talent to all who attended. Mental errors were very few and aggressive base-running kept the opposing teams on their toes. At the plate, the young ladies faced one of the top pitchers in all of New England, overcoming their fear and taking rip-after-rip… nearly every hitter put the bat on the ball and several laced the ball with resounding authority. CNB Ravens has only just begun and look to claim more trophies this summer! Congratulations to the champion NE Nightmare, who also happen to be the squad that the Gold practiced next to all winter long. We’ll see you at RI States.
