I’m pretty sure I have blogged about these guys before. Big Wet Fish are the hosting company that host my various websites.

I was reccomened to BWF by a friend of mine who was studying IMD at UUJ at the time. I had previously been with another company who ripped me off to the tune of £200, so I was happy to switch to any new provider. I have been with BWF for a couple of years now, and any time people are asking me for hosting recommendations I point them to Big Wet Fish. The main reason is that their customer service/support is fantastic.

On the relatively small number of occasions I have had any problem, (which for the most part are due to my mistakes), they have been really quick to respond to my queries, and help resolve any problems really quickly. Netflix

When I was at uni and then again just after Lorraine and I got married, I had a LoveFlim account, and loved it. Regular DVDs posted straight to me, it was great. When Apple released Apple TV, it incorporated Netflix in the USA. I had hoped that in the UK it would have had a LoveFilm option, but it didn’t. I always said that if and when they did, or if Netflix launched in the UK then I would probably buy Apple TV.

Netflix launched in the UK a few weeks ago, and I started my one month free trial with them last week. The selection at the moment isn’t great, but I hope it will improve over time. Even with the mediocre selection I already love Netflix more than LoveFilm. For one, I won’t forget to post DVDs back anymore, but the main attraction is that it gives me unlimited streaming of the library for £5.99 a month, that is much better than LoveFilm.

At the moment I am working my way through Arrested Development, and plan to watch a few films at least before my trial runs out, then I will decide if I’m going to keep it on or not. I haven’t bought Apple TV yet, and probably won’t, mainly because I can stream Netflix to my iPad and also through the Xbox.

Anyone else use Netflix? What do you think of it?

I love this advert that is on TV at the moment. We can be very negative about Northern Ireland a lot of the time, so this is a nice change.

I love Edinburgh, it’s probably my most visitied, and favourite city.

Lorraine and I are away Edinburgh for a couple of days break this weekend. I’m really looking forward to some down time.

E100

The E100 Bible Reading Challenge is based around 100 carefully selected Bible readings (50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New Testament) designed to give participants a good understanding of the overall Bible story from Genesis to Revelation. The ‘E’ stands for Essential and each of the Essential 100 readings ranges from a few verses to a few chapters.

Have any of you done the E100 challenge?

Lorraine and I have started it this week, and are going to be using it with a small group of teenagers at church, to encourage us, and them to read more of the bible.

So this is the current pile of books that I am reading or have yet to read, not counting the few books I have on my Kindle.

Now that I have the Kindle I will be reading on it as well. So if any of you have any book recommendations, please let me know. I am interested in reading classic books as well as modern literature, so I guess recommend anything from Oscar Wilde to Stieg Larsson.

Sherlock: a follow up

I have just seen this weeks episode of Sherlock, the final in this series. If you haven’t seen it yet, you probably don’t want to read this post.

My blog post last week about Sherlock was some what negative, but as someone pointed out, Hound of the Baskervilles was always going to be a tough one to produce.

Well the BBC has redeemed itself this week completely! This weeks episode was based on on ‘The Final Problem’. While the story was substantially different from the book, the underlying premise was the same. Moriarty, want’s to destroy Sherlock. I have to say, I was thorougly creeped out by Moriarty in this episode!

I’m currently working my way through ‘The Return of Sherlock Holmes’ novel, so I knew the outcome at the end was coming, but even still, I was gripped the whole way through the episode.

If there was one thing I would have changed it would have been to have a more subtle indication at the end of the episode about Holmes’s fate, rather than so obviously showing him on screen, but other than that I think it was absolutely fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
