DC’s latest animated DVD, Batman:  Under the Red Hood,  came out this past Tuesday and Comic Book Fury has got your back in reviewing it. Definitely one of the best animated DVD offerings Bruce Timm and team have brought out since they started doing these a couple of years ago (I’m still debating as to if this is better than Wonder Woman). Plotting, pacing, voice acting, animation, action sequences – this one has all of that. Plus you get the Jonah Hex we should have had in the live action movie and a nice peek at the next DVD.

If you surf the interwebz, you must know by now that the Thor trailer from SDCC has been leaked online (courtesy of Comicbookmovie.com). Catch it while it’s still up!

Definitely has a lot of the Jack Kirby influence. My only fear is that this seemed to reveal a bit too much, which can lead one to believe that these could be the only good parts of the flick. We’ll have to see when it comes out next May.

Doktor Sleepless continues his ranting and radio in this ongoing series from Warren Ellis. It’s such a noisy world, isn’t it? The cries of the disaffected, the screams of the dying, the complaints of all those previously-cozy folks in Central, and all the mad music that clangs and heralds and sounds a bit like the end of the world. Every day the world gets louder, until it seems like all that’s left to do is tune it out. It doesn’t seem like anyone’s really listening anymore, does it? But if the people of Heavenside aren’t listening to the Doktor, they should be – because they don’t want to miss what he’s going to say next! Warren Ellis’ satirical-political science fiction novel continues its on-going run!

From there, we get into the slim pickings of a week in books what with Comic Con here in full force. Even so, Brightest Day took the prize by putting focus back on its strong sub-plots (No Hawkman!) and teasing some revelations to come. I even give props to Johns and Tomasi for getting me interested in Firestorm again. This makes it all a great set-up for what’s to come with the big reveal behind the purpose of these characters’ resurrections in issue 7.
