A Day Without Lecture

I feel funny today. I don't know what's wrong, but I just don't feel right.

My instructor informed us today that there will be no class on Wednesday (Woo Hoo!), but we're going to the movies. Class morale is low, and he wants to take the top five students to a movie Wednesday and just have class on Friday. I don't know what to go see, because everything is either blacklisted by the instructor, or it's boring. Oh well. A day without having to sit through a lecture is enough for me. :)

Night Falls On November

It wasn't really cold, but it wasn't really warm, either. We stood in the parking lot, just staring up at the sky for a few seconds after putting the groceries in the car. The wind picked up. The sky was cloudy. "It looks like it could start snowing any minute now," I said. As if on cue, small chips of ice started to fall from the sky. We got in the car and started the drive home.

Soon the entire ground was covered with a fine powder white.

It wasn't a huge blizzard or even a 'snow storm'. But it was enough so once the groceries were put away, I ventured back out onto the front lawn and danced in the falling flakes. I remember they fell and shattered on my cheeks, my eyes were closed. I was happy. I could watch the snow fall for hours and hours. I'd forgotten how beautiful a simple, calm snow fall could be. How much fun it could be to just dance in the falling snow.

I did a little shopping for myself today. I earned it. I did everything on my husband's list of things to-do and now I'm going to go out to see a mutual friend. I made the bed, changed the sheets, washed three loads of sheets and two loads of regular laundry, and put it all away, all without complaining once. That in itself is a miracle, because I hate doing laundry. I'd rather balance equations, find the equilibrium and measure the pH of an unknown reaction than laundry. Oh, my college education is showing. :)

Wish Upon The Stars

It's strange to hear Christmas songs being played on a day where the temperature is in the 80s. It's strange to have to run the air conditioner while the radio plays Christmas music. Couldn't they have waited until the weather stayed cold?

I dropped from a class I particularly liked, today. I was asked to drop. It wasn't because of my grade or performance in the class. The Professor just didn't like me, and that's ok. I can just take the course in the spring and go to three classes per semester instead of two. Doesn't make that much of a difference to me.

Tonight is the last night of the Orionids. Since it's so warm out, I may just go out star gazing.

Everyone Goes Away In The End

I had a falling out with a good friend tonight. Someone I have been close to since we were kids. I called her just before I went to take my bath. I was going to wish her a belated Happy Birthday and ask if she still wanted her present and card. She called me back just as I was starting my bathwater, so I put that on hold and talked to her for a few minutes. We chatted about Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, her nursing courses, and how I was doing in school. Then she made a joke about how she was offended that I had "befriended the enemy" and she had to delete the enemy from her community. When I asked her to explain, she went into great details about how because a friend of mine was friends with one of her (many!) enemies, therefore, I wasn't trustworthy anymore.

Um, what?

I know this woman offline! I met her offline! We met in elementary school! We were friends for as long as I've been in this country! How could she assume that I was just taking the side of someone who disliked her? I tried to explain there was another side of the story. That the woman was no longer a friend of my friends'.

Confused yet?

The falling out was bad, but I'm too sleepy to finish this tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a kind of a lip treatment? I already have dry and peeling lips and winter isn't even here yet. I can't stand anything tingling on my lips, like DouWop, I'd probably dig it off. I also don't want anything that has a medicine-line scent, so if there's such a thing that fits my picky ways, let me know. Right now I've been nibbling on my lips and that's going to cause scarring.

Speaking of winter, while I was driving through town to get the mail today, I noticed the Christmas decorations are already up on Main Street. I think they were just put up. You never know around here. They were probably still up from last year. :D

Backing Up

I'm back on the medicine that causes amnesia. It must be working over time because I forgot to do up my homework last night. Oh well. I'm going to be dropping that class by Friday because I can't get a ride there anymore. No one wants to be bothered by helping me.

This is the problem with having a disability. I can't ride the campus shuttle buses, and I can't walk to the science building three times a week. I just don't have the physical ability to get to my afternoon class anymore.

It's kind of funny; I slept through my first class this morning and that is the class I'm going to try to attend and pass.

It's supposed to get down in the freezing tonight, with winter making it's comeback by morning. The news said there was going to be snow this weekend, yet it was in the 80s today.

More Las Vegas

There are more pictures of me, and some of the actor I met up with there, the one who is coming to town this weekend, but I'm getting an error when I try to load my camera card. Only the 8 GIG card. I'm using a Dazzle 2.0 USB card reader that doesn't quite work anymore. When I first had it, I could switch out camera cards with no problem, granted that I ejected them via dragging them to the Trash. Now I have to unplug and replug the card reader and I get this error:

No matter how many times I unplug and re-plug in the card reader, I get that error. Sometimes as soon as I insert my camera card. I have 8 GIGs of videos and pictures from Las Vegas being held hostage on my card. Any ideas? Suggestions? Thoughts? Help?

I'll probably work on scanning some of the pictures I took in 2001/2003 from those trips to Las Vegas. Or maybe the ones from the 2008 Premier? I don't know. I have some assignments to finish and get turned in tomorrow, and Friday, plus I have to get ready for my semi-date. :)

Snow Already?

I won't say how far away from 300 comments I am, but I will say this: The person to leave the three-hundredth comment for me by tomorrow morning, 9am Central time, will get 1,500 EC credits. Think about it. That's over four days worth of dropping on one blog! However, there is a catch. You have to comment before 9am Central. In other words, your comment has to be time-stamped before 9am. I'll check sometime tomorrow afternoon.

In other news, I was digging through some apps on my phone and I came across the weather app, and guess what? This weekend we're due for our first snow storm! It's not even officially winter (yet) and already they're predicting snow and my Pharm 3 professor said if we even get two flakes worth, he's going to cancel class. Now that is a teacher I like! Too bad he didn't cancel class when the weather was too hot or he didn't give us extra credit for staying awake in class.

I also have some good news. The friend I have from Las Vegas is coming to town this weekend, and he wants me to come and see him. Do I dare go? :) Of course. *swoons* Best. Times. EVAR. *all smiles*

Anyone remember that image? It's about seven years old. Back then, I made the mistake of going to the mall on Halloween. It was deserted. Maybe that's a good thing. :) I was able to go to any store in the mall and buy whatever I wanted without the hassle of lines or the paranoia of someone walking behind me to steal my purse.

Yes, I'm still living in the past.

No, I won't be going to the mall tonight.

I have little ones to take around trick or treating. Chloe has a cat costume picked out. She's going to look beautiful.

Oh, and the radio is still playing Christmas songs. They start the holiday season earlier and earlier every year.

The Most Wonderful Time of The Year

They're playing the continuous Christmas Songs already. It isn't even Halloween night, yet, and the Christmas songs are filling the air tonight. I have to admit, it made me feel warm and happy all over again. :) I mean, they used to start the Christmas songs on Thanksgiving night, but playing them now? That's even better! For the last five years I've always looked forward to this time of the year. There's always something magical and innocent at Christmastime.

Shortly after the happiness of Christmas came, I was overwhelmed with sadness. This will be the first Christmas in a long time that we'll be going through without our daughter here. Without the happiness and joy she brought us every year. She wasn't a given. She was a gift. I wondered what she would have asked for Christmas this year. The American Girl Doll of The Year? Last year she wanted to shadow mommy so badly she asked for an iPod and a nose piercing. I remember her first Christmas. I was playing in the college concert band and I had a solo. I remember seeing her perched on my mom's lap, holding a candy cane and smiling at me. She was only 10 months old, but she knew who I was.

The Christmases after that seemed to fly by. Just ten short years later, I am planning to leave a bouquet of blue roses on her grave on Christmas Day. It shouldn't have to be this way.

The new Magic Mouse:

It's so much better to have a mouse that actually works! It scrolls, it moves around very well. What do you know? Apple is finally on the ball!!

The anniversary cake was the real treat. It was white with red, purple and orange daisies and green borders. Our names and the years were in green icing. It was a perfect, three-layer cake, and purple decorations on the sides.

I also bought some Ghost shower gel and Snow Fairy Shower Gel, both from Lush. I haven't tried Lush's shower gels yet,and I hope they're as good as the Mint shampoo that I've been using.

Just Another Day

I have a bad feeling that tomorrow is going to be just another day.

For the past couple of weeks, I have printed out pages of what I wanted for our anniversary, right down to the cake. Will I get any of it? I doubt it, and right now, I'm ok with that. I really am. Last year was a disaster and getting nothing for the anniversary this year will actually be a huge improvement over last year.

After all, there's nothing special about remembering the day, 19 years ago, when my husband and I both decided to say "I love you" to each other without running the day by each other first.

In fact, right now? He's out with his friends. Where he's been since about 2pm today.

Yep. It's just another day. A Friday. The day before Halloween. Nothing special
