My dad says it's not the work that's going to kill you in the future, it's the office politics.

Times have changed now.
Secondary education politics are already mutilating friendships.
Discrimination between intelligence levels and classes cannot possibly get worse.

Why do schools bother?

If this is just another way of boosting egos and giving students "a sense of responsibility", then I conclude that it's not turning out the way it was supposed to be. Like almost every other pat on the back by an adult, I for one do not believe that the previous generation were, are, or ever will be appreciative of our efforts. I don't mind if they don't actually. For I'm more than qualified to appreciate or degenerate myself, so keep to your side of the fence.

So why all this? It's not working.
So yes. Some people work so hard and top the level, and all they get are $20> bookstore vouchers? Oh yes, thank you for the opportunity on stage. You get half-wits to setup the PA system and we get completely imbalanced audio that's ten times too loud. Oh yes, and now they're proclaimed the unsung heroes. And what's this? Queensway Idol??? Yes, that's definitely going to make one of us a superstar one day, I'm sure.

And has there ever been real appreciation?

Has anyone outside the Auran forums actually taken an interest in Coal County? Granted, most of the folks there prefer trains over sex, but outside the Trainz community this is definitely untrue.
Has any one of the previous generations ever praised the former Blackdusts author for her blogskins? No, although her works and digital artistry skills are positively superior than any teacher in school ten times over.

Do your own thing, and [for the love of God] stop trying to be one of us. You previous generation look like fools.

On another note, there has been some issues begging my attention of late, apart from halted construction on Wilhelmina Bay Harbour during the exams.

After giving it much serious deliberation, I have come to a conclusion.

If some things are to last, others must be sacrificed. There has never been and there will never be no such thing as having the best of both worlds. There is no single object that has no disadvantages. Yes, there may be plenty with no advantages such as things Made In China, but not the other way round. In order to ensure world peace, there is little choice.

Perhaps Nicky, life this way will be much less of a hell than it already is.

I'm torn between two things.

Nope, it's not two things within myself.

And while all this internal conflict is raging, I'm treading a delicate line between friendship, religion and controversy.

Sometimes I'm really grateful for the linguistics and social understanding skills I've been blessed with. In times like this it's the only things you can wish for.

If I ever once believed sitting on the fence and not bothering is the simplest and most elegant solution to any dilemma, this has certainly proved me wrong.

Mathematics was not an ordeal.

But from the look on Mrs Soh's face when she randomly took a gander at my paper, I think there must have been a slew of careless mistakes. I mean, save for one or two, I finished all the questions you know.

The afternoon was boring.
The evening was spent looking for some nice stuff.
Fixing it up was fun.

Now I'm worrying myself over something that I find myself helpless to do anything about.

I studied POA this afternoon.

Okay okay. I was sleeping and reading Anthony Horowitz half the time.
Nonetheless, thank you for the chocolate. It was really sweet.

I don't have the get up so early tomorrow. Perhaps for the same reason, I can afford not getting up at all next Monday. Heh.

I have, finally, understood the effects shutter speed has on a photograph. Of course, idiotic common sense tells you low shutter speed results in blur pictures. But assuming the camera is completely still or at the same speed as the subject, here are two slightly exaggerated effects resulting from both former and latter, pre-focused, at slowest shutter speed. With exposure decreased to compensate, of course.

In a simulator that mimics real life down to tire contact area in relation to tire temperature and lateral forces applied on individual suspension assemblies, one can expect it to mimic the beauty of the world we live in as well - which Forza 2 portrays beyond expectation.

Yesterday night may have been terrible, but right now I'm about as secure as flywheels on drivetrains.

Tuned the R34 until 1. Couldn't sleep. Rolled around until 2. Awoke at 4. Looked for snacks (found blueberries). Couldn't sleep. Sat down and watched 保持通话 on the computer. Fried eggs for breakfast at 6. Unbelievable.

But all is well now. Everyone's happy.

Perhaps for the same reason (and maybe the new shampoo my mom bought), I find my hair exceptionally awesome today. Yes yes, ego boost and all.

I SAY.

My house is not a pig sty. Absolutely not.

I don't care, I'm skipping dinner tonight because I just had a truckload of french fries. McDonalds' french fries. AND Coca Cola. Repulsive drink, it is. But rather refreshing after being outdoors at sixteen-hundred hours with no clouds.

There was an sms. And there was me being bored with Trainz. So it came together quite naturally, although it did take longer than expected. (I'm sorry.)

Now, the original intended purpose of this afternoon's get-together was called "study".

And it is my obligation to let you know firsthand that I cannot study outdoors.

So as it turned out, I was chewing on french fries more than I was stuffing Chemistry into by head. And drinking Coca Cola. Not helping things was Vera being spastic, hyper and incredibly...

I coined an equation recently.

Where h represents happiness.

Today was English 2nd paper and Physics. Yesterday saw me scrambling to memorize formulas for acceleration, deceleration, velocity and whatnot. So, I think I'll do okay for my English, but there'll be no guarantees until the papers come back. But Physics will suck, that's quite for sure.

Now, because I had a little tiff with my dad, I decided not to go home so early, and accompanied Xinen, her dog Marco, and Co. to uh, look at puppies.

Oh yes, look at puppies.
At the Pet Care Center.

Then we went to eat laksa. Oh glorious stuff. And glorious oil and coconut milk.
Making things worse was the cancelled Friday badminton appointment with Tingxuan.
Oh the horror.

But I thoroughly enjoyed my evening, nonetheless.
Barstow is nearing completion.
Sharmaine's happy.
My math quandaries are getting lesser.
And although chemical equations are still a pain in the neck,

I'm a rather contented person already.

So I'll be holding my own breath, could this be the end?
Is it that moment when I find the one that I'll spend forever with.

It really is that moment. I'll never use the F word on this blog ever again.

It has become a recent phenomenon, that recent events which I predicted to result in horrid nightmares turn out exactly the opposite. Three times already.

Today is a very significant day.

A confession and a profession are two very different things.

To confess is to divulge something that is not completely right, something that may not be generally accepted. Or so you think it won't.
To profess is to declare something that has been hidden for very long. There's generally nothing wrong with it, just that it has remained unknown, until now.

How many times have you lost a worry? Not losing a worry by means of simply forgetting or ignoring it, but actively worked against it and solved it. Regardless of the issue, the sense of satisfaction when such events occur are prodigiously satisfying.

But occasionally, if the issue is one of importance or cause for distress, then solving it will present not only this feeling of satisfaction but also one akin to being set free.

I studied again today. No, this is not the issue I'm referring to, but I'm never going to type it here point blank anyway. I completed an entire Maths paper 2. Granted, it is a simplified one and I exceeded the time limit by a little again. But I completed it, and without much difficulty.

Real achievement, for someone of my calibre in Maths, no?

I just finished a really long chat with Ray.
It's really comforting to know that after so long in a world so alien, I still have one true friend with which we share much in common.

Daily temperature taking is becoming a real pain in the ass.
Faking a working thermometer has presented no real quandary yet.
Feodore's hamster was rather close to being thrown in quarantine.

There is a severe breakdown in the previous generation's minds.

No, let's start with mine. I don't know what got over me on Friday. It's the worst way possible to spend a [long] weekend, while I live on with fever and flu. Lucky I brought an Alex Rider novel along.

Malaysian government is complete bullshit, this me and all of my extended family agrees, and is clearly demonstrated in their new excuse of an immigration checkpoint. Two lanes with tight bends in and out, bus bays too narrow by half and half-witted officers make for a real disaster. At least it is when you're not in a car, which would otherwise present a different set of frustrations such as exaggerated boot-checking and more traffic congestion. A journey across the border (up north, that is) that used to take fifteen minutes now takes an hour.

In a nutshell, if it's not broken, don't fix it! Fucking retards.

Now, Singaporean higher-ups have become infected by this retard phenomenon too. They've disallowed all alighting along the path leading to the Woodlands checkpoint (down south, that is). They've closed the bus bays as well, which I think quite ironically was initially meant for passenger alighting. So now twenty 40-foot buses have to simultaneously unload at a gap no more than 10 meters long.

After which there is a large contraption that everybody has to walk through with people dressed like morgue workers in it. Looking for Homer's pig, no doubt. I'm surprised though that with [slight, okay] fever and flu I wasn't thrown into the nearest hospital.

Must be déjà vu. I feel like I just typed this somewhere no more than a minute ago. xD

So yes. The previous generation can degenerate for all I care. I'm tired, I've been near very smelly foreign workers and not for the first time I find it a real bliss to own an automobile.

Tall fences have gone up around the new Shimano complex.

And parking rates have gone up at Bukit Indah's new Jusco complex. So have toll rates at Perling and Gelang Patah.

Sigh. I feel wretched. Wretched for not staying in Singapore over this weekend.

A few words of encouragement can go a long way.

I'll do okay for Paper 1, but getting a high score would be a different matter altogether. I am doubting myself, not exactly sure where the problem lies.

Today marked the beginning of temperature-taking exercises again. In Primary 4 it was against SARS, better known as "Sudden and Acute Rock Sensation" in which people who came into contact with Paul Oakenfold's or Goo Goo Dolls' music would die a very painful death.

Now, it is against a new virus (H1N1) which I, as an apt chemistry student, can infer as a result of 1 hydrogen and 1 nitrogen atom bonding after Homer Simpson walked his pig on the ceiling. Now, WHO is going gaga over this disease because a few people from Mexico, whose healthcare system is pretty shocking anyway, died. This is also further proof that God hates Mexico.

But the fact that Mr Ho spent ten damned minutes announcing the re-initiation of daily temperature-taking makes me wonder just how serious this infection is (or what alot of salivating capacity he has, for that matter). It might end up like Left 4 Dead, but instead of being hungry for your blood the Infected would be craving for Pork.

Not good news for Muslims, I'm sure.

From now onwards, each of us is required to bring a thermometer every single day. This is with two day's notice in view of the fact that it's been half-a-year since we last used them and five since anything on this scale. Mind you, I'm not spending $8~12 dollars on an ODT just because Homer Simpson walked his pig on the ceiling. No Sir.

Chinese B students did not have to stay for Chinese Paper 1 today. Today was also Computer Aided Design test. I think I can get full marks, or somewhere close. I mistook today for Friday and rang Tingxuan up asking whatever happened to our weekly badminton session.

My life is fast becoming solitary again.

I'm fighting a civil war against myself.

English is tomorrow. Summary is still an unholy mess.
A state of emergency has been declared.

It is now positively asserted that I have broken one very important promise I made to myself.

You need to chill out, nicky. You need to let things cool off, bail off the brakes before it becomes a runaway. Many things in the world take time and much more patience, and this is one of those.

Tomorrow is Paper 1. No summary in Paper 1; tomorrow will not be my doom. I will go and write five situationals tonight. I will leave whatever is bothering me aside. Now is definitely not the time for this. School is getting more and more boring, while I (strangely) have a small desire for more English homework like Ms Buganesh's class.

Life itself is stagnating.

The examinations start this Thursday. Mdm Jaya has not returned me my comprehension assessment, but that's fair considering I still owe her my file. Maths is still in shambles; I can barely complete a mock exam paper on my own. History and Social Studies will be alright if I can find enough time during the paper itself to write the equivalent of 5 printed pages, as shown in Ms Teo's notes.

Oh, jesus.

If there's anything positive to write about at this point, I've passed my Chinese.
No, of course you don't believe this.

While the problems described above are enough to force me back to "GTA, TRS and Twisties" if not for my awesome willpower, I have some other issues that are bothering me at the back of my head.

Just what has society done to us?
Homosapiens are truly-one-of-a-kind. They are the only species of life on Earth that:

Cook their food before consumption.
Wear clothes.
Require a home to live in.
Require weapons to defend ourselves.
Like to use pictures to express themselves.
Must write their knowledge down in language and pass it on.
Must have several years of relationship before producing offspring.
Are consistently trying to know about every single thing.
Are consistently trying to triumph over others and emerge superior.
Are consistently trying to come up with meanings - why life, why love, why death?

It is impossible to answer that question. Just like it is when asked why I'm feeling so messed-up despite being admittedly blithe about a certain something.

I'm sick of being worried. You solve one problem and another comes up. You fulfil one commitment and is reminded of another. I've told myself too many times, " it's none of your business, just walk away." It has failed as many times as it had worked. Things I've promised myself I'd never fall into again and Maths worksheets that I never seem to complete. If I was a little better in Math, if I was a little more tolerant, if I was a little more cold towards everything else in the world and still be able to live with myself - I would be a free man.

But unfortunately, God has made each of us imperfect. Imperfectly perfect. And yet identifying this perfection is comparable to searching for a needle in a haystack. Just what am I truly good at? Our brains are now socially engineered such that we place more importance on how others see us over how we see ourselves.

As such we become not the person we really are, but perpetually trying to achieve an image of what society expects of us - intelligence, wealth and beauty.

p/s. I'm sorry this is so wordy. I'm feeling more crappy than I am blessed; kind of sucks.

I happened to be downstairs helping my dad out at the RC (and whhhhy? God knows).

One like me can't help but wonder what will happen to such a great chunk of wood (and the 170 trees that fell Wednesday night, for that matter). Burnt perhaps. To produce more electricity or something. I cannot picture the government going to the trouble of taking it to a paper or furniture industry.

It's high time I started my newspaper-cutting. I'm not sure how much I'd find, but it's worth a try.

Hello.

You must be pleased that I'm blogging again.

As much as I am with the new layout. Although it is to be noted this blog will not turn out as expected in Internet Explorer, not counting lots of pop-under advertisements. As such I advise you get Firefox or something not-IE because Microsoft (and Google ads) are a bunch of idiots.

Also worth nothing: all the links have been updated. Several new ones have been added.

Two months being largely offline is quite a fresh experience. Although a large part can be attributed to Coal County, I also found that I needed a break. Blogging's not fun when it becomes a liability - and commitment to a lesser extent.

So here we are, two months later. So much has happened, including a case of crossdressing which Mr Chua has never encountered before in his 30(?) or so years of teaching. Mr Chng is being more of an asshole than ever before, I've got a huge cup of instant noodles for my birthday and much of the blogosphere seems to have simultaneously updated their blogs on April 24th.

I would have completed this post long last night if not because the keyboard is so damn loud. My mom found out that I've been forging signatures for all my progress reports since January and yelled at me at 3 in the morning because I wasn't in bed - something she wouldn't usually do, not on a Friday night.

How would you expect me to show her the progress report when I fucking failed English? I know, it's summary and it's something I don't do too often. But I fucking failed! Apart from that I've been failing Math too.

Mdm Jaya has given me two letter-writing practices. I've stapled them back to back to avoid looking at the model answers.

She also suggests I read books of different genres because although my compositions are cool, they're forever of the same genre; I'd be dead if those damn Brit GCSE setters decide to make me write about grandmothers.

At the rate I'm reading Adrian Mole's secret diary, it won't be long before I start writing compositions in point form comedy.

Yesterday was awesome. As Vivian has pointed out. It is true - we should do it more often, at least after I...

Here are pictures briefly describing the past two months. Some impossible to infer anything about, some random, and others possible to infer something from.

Here are more (large) pictures from the digital camera. I have been playing around with multiple-exposure images in Photoshop so simulate those of SLRs, although none of them turned out nice because the lack of a tripod meant the two images will never match perfectly. Apart from that, many of these were taken on a whim.

It's hard to imagine this was once a forest where as kids we played hide-and-seek.

Now, I have to do Mdm Jaya's English practice assignments.

I don't wish to blog about the common test yet.

Like Garfield hates Mondays, I hate Wednesdays. But I love Thursday.

Every Thursday, the DNT (silly subject, yes) people go to Singapore Polytechnic's block T12 for lessons on computer-aided-design. Better known as CAD. For this specific AEM, we're using ProEngineer 2, some $8000 application that we've been using to create rectangles (and a little bit more) in 3D.

Actually, I'm fine with any program, so long as it exports into Trainz - like this:

In a sense, perhaps learning CAD will finally get me trying to create stuff for Trainz and make use of AutoCAD 2009 and 3DSMax 2009, both of which have been sitting on my PC for months already.

Wilhelmina Bay Area v2 is almost complete. Screenshots and the entire city will be up for download by tomorrow.

The xspf player is not working because I have missed out a pointed bracket from the playlist.
