Pembrook Hall will meet Link Up All Stars in the Hy-lite Institute of Sports Community Basketball League final, after defeating Spanish Town Meadows 63-45 to win their best of three semi-final series 2 nil on Wednesday.basket

Andrew Bell landed 21 points, while team-mate Joseph Barrett who also scored 21, added 15 rebounds to his tally.

The best of three finals between the two teams will start on Saturday at the National Stadium Courts.

Jamaica’s Senior Football team handed in a historic performance, as for the first time in its history, the team gained a point at the Azteca Stadium in a game against Mexico, as the first set of matches in the final round of CONCACAF qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup got underway on Wednesday.tapper

The Theodore Whitmore coached Reggae Boyz who got three clear chances on goal, failed to capitalize, closing the match with a nil all result.

A tremendous all round performance from Orande Pearson, helped Excelsior to a 94 run win over Papine in Thursdays’ action from the Inter-secondary School Sports Association (ISSA), Grace Shield Premier League.criket

Pearson made 55 and Ricardo McGeachy 68 not out, in Excelsior’s total of 211-4.

In Papine’s response, they were bowled out for 117, as Pearson grabbed 6-41 and Romario Brown took 2-33.

In another game Norman Manley defeated Campion College by 6 wickets.

Batting first, Campion made 178 all out, with Saad Ammad top scoring with 75, against the bowling of Jahmoy Lawrence who took 5-42.

Norman Manley was led by Nicholas Hamilton’s 62 in their response, while Decarpion Porter was left unbeaten on 48 in their total of 183-4.

Holmwood Technical’s, Nicole “girlie” Dixon, was the toast at Thursday’s Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) 2012 Digicel Awards Ceremony, at the Terra Nova Hotel.netyyy

The attacking senior netballer copped three awards on the day; Best rural shooter and Most Valuable Player (MVP) along with the All Island top player.

Holmwood took home the All Island Senior crown along with the Rural trophy, while St Elizabeth Technical walked away with the Junior division.

GK extend their run with ISSA’s Boys and Girls Championships

Grace Kennedy (GK) has once again stamped their authority in high school track and field, by extending their contract with the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) for another 6 years, sponsoring the annual Boys and Girls Championships.lc

The entity’s 6 year broken partnership with the school’s sports governing body came to an end last year.

It is believed that sponsors GK has handed over 30 million dollars to ISSA for the running of this year’s event and Grace Kennedy’s CEO Don Wheby told CNIS Sports that it is money well spent.

Nevers drafted in the National Netball set up

Longstanding instructor Winston “scrappy” Nevers has been added to the cadre of National Senior coaches, to assist in the Sunshine Girls’ preparation for their series against England later in the year.nevers

Nevers, who officially received his National Accreditation late last year from the University of Technology, has been named with former player Sasher-Gaye Henry and Yvonne Dixon as new coaches.

Henry who stepped out of the playing arena in early 2012, coaches UTech and will work alongside Head, Oberon Pitterson-Nattie, Minneth Reynolds Marvette Anderson, Annette Daley and Conrad Parkes.
