Today's cornucopia of technology is perfect for when you travel to visit your family for the Thanksgiving holiday. Some tech makes getting there safer and capturing the moment easier. Other tech was meant for your escape from the in-laws.

E-Mail

Hey gals & guy!

I love Gadgettes, and I love gadgets. But I have to ask what’s wrong with these girls who don’t have any love for the guys rocking a more “old school” style. I couldn’t imagine steering clear of a man just because he has outdated technology! I may carry my iPod Touch and 3G phone everywhere I go, but I find my boyfriend’s lack of tech refreshing and sweet.

For one thing, I never have to worry about him answering his phone or texting when we’re at dinner, because he only turns on his cell when he’s traveling. And if I need any information when we’re on the go, I have my own devices for that!

Still totally a fan,
Katie

Hey Guys,

I’ve been watching the show for a while and I think it’s HILARIOUS!!! I laugh out loud every time. My mom’s birthday was a couple of weeks ago. But the moment you mentioned the tea kettle I knew that it would be perfect for my mother. She loves fancy kitchen toy and I used some of my saved up birthday, holiday, and allowance money to buy the kettle as a surprise. It is actually awesome, we set it up which may have taken us an hour but after reading the manual which comes in a variety of languages we finally set it up. It tells the time and does everything you said it does, it’s also good because me and my mother are russian (I was born here in New York but my mom was born and raised in moscow) and since she’s from europe she’s used to 24-hour time and Celsius which are the only presets available on the kettle so she understands it better than me. Overall even I’m impressed with it. It’s sleek and the screen looks great!!! Even I like it!!!

ALSO I use the mighty mouse which has for buttons, for expose and regular clicking, and it does increase functionality!!! : )

Hoping This Gets Read on the Show Sincerely,
Daniel
PS. I Got My mothers permission for you to show the attached pictures on the show

Hey,

I am really into new gadgets. I usually purchase most of the new electronics that come out. It’s funny because in your last podcast you guys mentions dating habits in reference to technology, and right after that one of my coworkers asked me out. I started to give him my number, but when I asked for his phone to put my number in, his phone looked like a jitterbug. I made a few jokes about his phone not having a color display, which was enough to deflect from me not giving him my number. He’s a Verizon customer, and they are constantly contacting him pretty much begging him to upgrade his phone. He’s even been offered a free phone, but he still will not do it. I really enjoy your listening to your podcasts. You guys are awesome.

Dear Gadgettes! I seek some of your infinite knowledge of tools!

Does owning a Gold Dolce & Gabbana MOTORAZR make me a tool? I do enjoy showing it off, especially when with friends and family, but keeping in mind, I didn't purchase this but in fact found it in the trash, What with my friend having a Pink version, I used her spare battery and flashed the device to a working state. Does owning one of these give me the status of "Tool"???

Remember The Alien Abduction Lamp you guys talked about a loooong time ago (I’m talking from way back–this was pre-Jason, and I think Molly was still on maternity leave) in "The 'is it art?'
I signed up for the e-mail notifications from the designer, Lasse Klein, ages ago and finally got the news I’d been waiting over 3 years for: the lamp has landed. And it still comes with the adorable little cow abductee from those concept shots way back when. Woohoo! You might need to be quick, though, because apparently they’re only making 2000 of them.

Hi Gadgettes
As you would have probably already heard, the Kindle is now available internationally, and ever since it came out, I have been dying to get one!, as I live in Australia, and it wasn’t available until now
I am considering whether I really need one, but I do read a large amount of books each month, and it’s hard to carry a book to read on the bus to school while having a million and one other schoolbooks.
Should I get one, and what network does it run on outside the states?
Finally, what is the price in Australian $$, as it says $279 on the amazon website but I am not sure if that is correct.
Love the show
Allen, From Newcastle (one of the covered areas!), Australia

E-Mail

OK, so I just marched the Sansa Clip Plus through a bunch of different kinds of music and songs I’m really familiar with: some Beethoven, some Vivaldi, some CCR, some Irish folk, some Led Zeppelin, the theme song to that other CNET podcast, My ear is usually OK: I can normally hear the difference between a CD and a standard MP3, even at pretty high bit rates, particularly for classical stuff. My report: It’s fine, whiny audiophiles.

Which is good, because it would kill me to be cranky with the podcast I listen to when I want to be cheered up. Whew. Now maybe I can stop hearing the “Depression” theme from the movie Stripes (track 3 on the soundtrack).

Hi Gadgettes,

Dan from Boston here. I was listening to episode 156 while making dinner and could not believe my ears when you listed the Foreman Grill as one of those things you would never think to use. I was literally wiping mine off before grilling up some chicken to put in a salad when I heard you say that! Mine is quite possibly my favorite kitchen gadget (after the coffee makers of course). I use that thing all the time to make grilled cheese, hotdogs, burgers, grilled PB&J sandwiches (sounds weird, but tastes great. trust me on this one), etc. Maybe it’s just because I’m a bachelor and just recently decided to start really learning my way around the kitchen, but the Foreman Grill is one of those things I look for excuses to use.

Ladies: I don’t understand this. Is it a car, is it a cupcake, is it a costume for Dragon*Con? And why kind of drugs do I need to get one. Sean P Reiser Hi Gadgettes, Dan from Boston here.
Toradol tampons?

Well, Toradol is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to relieve moderately severe, acute pain with side effects including ulcers, internal bleeding and fluid retention. Not to be used for more than five days in all, by the way.

Somehow, it doesn’t sound like a good idea to park this drug anywhere near your reproductive system any time of the month.

Whether you like pool or not, you gotta give it to the Obscura Pool Table.

(Via - everyone, including BornRich.)

It's like those projection systems in the mall, but on a pool table! So cool. So, using a series of infrared motion detectors and a projector, it can project effects on the pool table based on the motion of the balls. For example, according to the article (see pics), it can do water or fire trailing effects.

...and this can be yours for the low low price of 125,000USD! I bought two just in case one breaks. How about you?
